Learning switch is a must for anyone whose serious about boarding. At some point you just gotta admit that bombing that Red or Black on your regular stance just isn't pushing you forward anymore. Sure you might feel like a total noob that first day of riding switch, but after that you can begin coasting down the hardest terrain in either stance. Worth it in my opinion for looking like a noob briefly while learning. I've practiced so much switch riding that the casual observer probably can't tell which leg I favour, way more impressive than gunning past some poor noobies trying to tackle their first Red. Don't stick to being an average boarder, become a great boarder!
that was one of the biggest compliments I ever got while riding...someone said, "I was behind you coming down the hill and you kept switching back and forth. I honestly couldn't tell what your normal stance was."
Viridian just keep at it. It sucks at first but once you start getting used to it, it starts becoming quite fun when you are progressing. You’ll also progress way faster going switch vs normally.
Terry Green how? You only have two legs and your still leaning on your thighs for example. just because your facing a different way doesn't mean the exertion on your legs go away?
couldnt agree more! my 2c: even the Poconos can become challenging. It's the best tool to progress as a rider and to keep feeling that beginner thrill for as long as possible!
Why is this guy not bigger on youtube? Going snowboarding in the beginning of next year, I've done some snowboarding in the past and want to get more into basic trick, small jumps and 180 spins this time. I enjoy all the videos I've seen so far - great stuff - thank you!
invested a few solid runs last week on switch. It felt like learning all over again but worth it now up to #6 on the vid until i get better and can handle some more speed. Good video for learning thanks super helpful
I'm seriously riding for the first time this year, but skateboarded for years (reg but push mongo which I believe will help with switch riding) I've only ever gone with people that say "keep up if you can" as a form of helping me learn. I've watched most of your videos and they're great, can't wait to build a solid foundation and hope to be killing it by the New Year. Once again keep up the awesome work!
Been working on my switch riding for two seasons now and finally starting to feel natural - thanks for providing the challenges! Working on switch powder moguls!
I tried skating and getting on a lift while riding switch today. Fuck that bro, a pimp almost busted his ass and looked like a nerd in front of all the girls
Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this I probably ride switch better than you ride regular junior haha go take a fuckin lap, coach wants to see you in his office when you're done
Started my second season this year, I'm in the northeast so haven't had much snow yet (wish the NY stormed shared further up north). Watching your videos has been helping a lot, I can definitely feel myself significantly improving with each day out. Was very excited to begin learning switch this year. Didn't think id pick it up and improve until towards the end of the season but with your help I was nailing at least 5-6 of these before lunch on my first day of switch! Now I need to go back and get myself up to 10! Thanks a lot for your videos, time, and help!
Going away this sunday to the next for a ski-trip. Will definitely be trying all this stuff while my newbie friends are learning how to ride regularly.
10th run ever on snowboard and decided to follow these tips and ride switch most of day. Thank you! Amazing tips! Felt really comfortable after a few runs. going back to tomorrow for some fine tuning. ;))
8/10 on riding switch. I've only been snowboarding for 1.5 weeks, but I tried to snowboard switch immediately after I learned how to ride normal. I feel like it's way easier this way!
I know it's late but you pushed me to start riding switch man thank you... and I've been riding goofy for 3 seasons now so it also helps that you ride goofy so when I watch your videos, I get a lot out of them.
..it's quite a bit I'm looking around....I think you 're the best teacher here....with your lessons I started snowboard with confidence... I practise 2 times with my son (13) with excellent results..also tried switch (I'm goofy like you) and more....GO ON with lessons!! I'm 50...from Italy.. best place 4 SB
I've completed 9 out of 10, and I have done the bonus. I started working on switch a lot this year but we have no powder this year on the ice coast here in northeast US. Thanks for the tips! I definitely need to work or flat riding switch.
my first ever time snowboarding was today! I got to run about 8 times down from the top of the mountain. Since i watched a lot of your videoes on How to ride & Carve, the last time i went down, i managed to only fall one time, i went at pretty great speed and i feel like i did good to be first time. Thanks for What youre doing! It really helps! Gonna try som snwitch riding next weekend:)
decided to do a couple full switch runs today (even the steep parts). got through one with out falling. they aren't linking together well yet. skating switch is a lot more difficult than i thought it would be.
Yo Kevin, I watched all of your beginner videos prior to going up on the mountain - this past weekend was my 3rd/4th time up and I managed to get my heel side down, practiced toe side, started linking turns, and went to the top of the mountain we were at with my friends and managed to get down it without any major falls (first time doing S turns on it without knowing it until my buddies who were slowly sliding around me to watch called me out for doing it right) Thanks for your videos, I still watch them in-between studying waiting for the next time I will go up - its been about 5 years+ since I learned how to snowboard so this was a great intro to get back into it for me. I think I will be looking to buy my own gear soon :)
I've been doing this recently and it seriously helps switch start to feel as natural as your normal stance. Do it on a day that's not busy so you can ride by yourself and pick a chair with a mellow exit. (If that exists at your resort)
Thanks for the vid. I'm a 43 years old, riding since 1988. :/ So ya, i'm up to level 7 and trying to teach my son the things i know. And whit your help, it this not end. :) thank's again.
It's hard, but I love it! It's challenging so I feel like I really need to learn it... I keep falling over and my leg hurts like never before, but I still love it 💪
I started snowboarding last year and i think i've gotten the hang of it pretty well, the only problem i have is switch riding and this video came out at the perfect time!
7/10 I just started focusing on switch last season (which was my second season on a board). My first year was mostly working on patrol skill and your videos have been very helpful. Next year I'll work on speed, moguls, and side hits / banks.
+Veronica Ng I think he already did (i'm following an other snowboard channel so not sure it was him). The best time to pick up new gear is either at the very begining of the season but not much great deal or sadly the very end of the season where you can get huge deals, got a new board and binding just before last summer for very cheap : The same board as kevin (Burton Process for 225€ instead of 460€) and Cartel Binding (2015 model) at 150€ instead of 250€ and few other things, got some in Tignes and Val D'Isere (ski resort) and the board on internet
Heading to Meribel at the end of the month and will definitely put in a lot of switch training. But first, big swell forecast off the coast of Durban, South Africa. Thanks for the vids, have helped me a lot! Yeew!
I just wanted to say that you make great videos. I am just starting to snowboard and these help me a lot. You are a good teacher and always seem to have a positive attitude. Keep up the great work.
Hey Kevin this video has helped build a lot more confidence in my switch riding and im gald i came across it. i am only on step 2 but im hoping to get to 4 after this weekends trip.
The switch chairlift challenge is real! I can ride switch just as good as my regular but on and off the lift makes me feel new all over again lol. It's so scary on a packed lift.
Omg thank you Kevin for this awesome video to help learn switch. It's all I need to complete in order to be able to conquer the park. I've only done 3 of these but I'll try the rest but powder is hard to find where I am but I will still try.
Started really trying to ride switch about three years ago. I’d say I’m a 7. Moguls are difficult and not ready for switch tree riding. But I love being able to just spin whenever and feel comfortable.
I've been riding switch for years. I found it is more of a mental game than anything else-- forget you are riding switch and just convince yourself it is normal and your switch riding will rapidly increase. Also making sure your bindings are in a duck stance (I ride around a 12, -12) will make a huge difference. never tried to the chairlift challenge but I might have to...sounds kinda funny!
Hoping to try this when snowboarding season comes. Watching your videos helped me learn how to snowboard. Keep up with the awesome videos. Can't wait till snow season!
Id say 6/10. I taught my girlfriend to snowboard last year so I took the time I spent on the green groomers to teach myself switch. Snagged some good ideas to use for my next switch session!
Great videos by snowboardProCamp. Stoked for the season thinking watching a lot of these might make it a little easier working on this stuff when I start the season!
my first season I was riding goofy, but ended up switching to regular and haven't looked back. I can now ride switch pretty easily, but haven't the confidence to do so at speed (yet)
Just went on Sunday, practiced riding some switch. What a perfect video to get me ready for the next day out. Only 2/10 for me so far but I'll work on it :)
i'm too chicken to try the switch chairlift hahaha awesome videos man keep them coming. helping my riding a ton! before I would just cruise down not really thinking about anything, now I am constantly challenging my riding and trying new things and having way more fun!
It's day 2 on the hill and I'm on 8/10. Don't think I'll get a chance to to hit the pow but those mogules are mine tomorrow. Thanks for the video, it's heartening that you're having the same switch issues. Peace
Honestly once I got the feel for riding switch, I was popping 180's and better butters and 270's and 360's real quick after that. Switch is the secret bois, you'll even ride with less mistakes imo
Don't face your back foot binding forward. Have both faces slightly out and it will make it feel a lot smoother Also when riding switch make sure that you have you new front leg bent a little and new back leg kind of bent
I've done 1 and 2, so I'll try 3 next time to the mountain. Thanks for the video! I also have a video suggestion...could you to a video tutorial on how to hit rails with special features, such as a curve, arc, or one that goes downward, straightens out, then goes down again...Just a suggestion...Thanks again!
Been rewatching all your guys’ videos getting hyped up for the season! Finally gonna learn to ride Switch this season and maybe progress into some tricks :D
I did 1,2, & 3 and then thought I could jump straight to 6.5! Boy was I wrong! 😂 Back to 4 for me, hopefully plenty of practice next few days riding with my daughter.
how do you even gain the patience to practice switchhhhhhhh lol its like you can board but you have to play like you can't board its struggle. I do it and I push myself to do it but get tired after a while lolol
+Mike Chen I agree especially when you aren't young anymore... I have to force myself this next week I just hate falling, I finally got the hang of riding powder regular now I gotta start all over on switch I sure hope it comes to me a lot faster then regular riding :(
+Marco Soccia Yhe, feel you. I finally tried switching sides few weeks ago and its soo strange, like learning how to snowboarding all over again. but it does come fast. faster then i thought it would. If you know how to move your body, its just a matter of practice , it shouldnt be too hard :)
am i reading this wrong but isn;t the whole idea of learning switch so you can progress to doing the tricks which absolutely need you to be competent at it? not riding through powder where you want maximum fun and enjoyment on your best foot forward?? put me right somebody plz.
Ride switch when you are teaching someone to snowboard, every time you see a SLOW sign, and whenever there is a lot of people and you can't go fast anyways! gives your legs a rest during those super long runs!
I am a weirdo and just learned to skate regular, but ride down goofy, as a result though, I do ride switch pretty well! Tip 3 is my way of life everyday haha
I have been riding snowboards for 10 years out east. mostly park and pipe amateur competition riding. i moved to Pemby a year and a bit ago and decided to start over from the very basics even just completely focusing on my front foot pressure and edging making it all perfect every time. when i get stuck or stumped on a movement or focusing on the next thing. my back country boys aren't really always the best dudes to turn to for focus haha. but you're videos are! really loving this one right now as a fun challenge as switch is what I'm working on now and I have worked on it lots in the past for freestyle (but its sloppy lets be honest) i would say i am at a 8--9 on your scale as I've never tried the pillows switch...on purpose. would you have anything to say about getting that commitment around when spinning switch? would love a video. The vids are really clear and focused well done.
was going to be trying this out this weekend and broke my radius in my left arm, bummed that the seasons already over for me and it was short to begin with
Learning switch is a must for anyone whose serious about boarding. At some point you just gotta admit that bombing that Red or Black on your regular stance just isn't pushing you forward anymore. Don't stick to being an average boarder, become a great boarder!
true shit man, dont worry how you look . dont care about others people thats first rule to become a shreder
this is so true. been riding for 3 years and today i spent the whole day riding switch on a beginner slope.
@@Meefo__ switch is awesome feeling
that was one of the biggest compliments I ever got while riding...someone said, "I was behind you coming down the hill and you kept switching back and forth. I honestly couldn't tell what your normal stance was."
Switch is so frustrating!
You're back at the beginner level...
Yep and frustrating when you see people thinking: Haha look at this noob
So true thomas
So painfully true, hurts when you get laughed at on the bunny hills cause your trying to balance on the other side
Viridian just keep at it. It sucks at first but once you start getting used to it, it starts becoming quite fun when you are progressing. You’ll also progress way faster going switch vs normally.
He's probably killing it by this stage!
You want to know something even harder then switch trying to watch this video on lodge wifi
Great Video. What you didn't mention however is that riding switch, in essence, gives you a 2nd set of legs which is great late in the day.
+Terry Green Good point!
Terry Green how? You only have two legs and your still leaning on your thighs for example. just because your facing a different way doesn't mean the exertion on your legs go away?
Tom Sharpe but usually it's your back leg that gets the most sore.
couldnt agree more! my 2c: even the Poconos can become challenging. It's the best tool to progress as a rider and to keep feeling that beginner thrill for as long as possible!

JD Not sponsored by Burton, like another company is. 😉
I only heard about this channel off a guy that I was talking to on holiday.
JD its an awsome channel, thanks to kevin i learned how to 180 on 180 off a rail 540s and much more
Been just a casual rider for the past 15 years. Watching the videos has made my riding so much better and pushed me to try new things.
your vids helped me be a better snowboarder
+Brayden Kitchen Awesome to hear Brayden! Thanks for watching!
Working on a 10 Switch Trick video next!
+SnowboardProCamp How do you like your 32 lashed boots?
+SnowboardProCamp YEAAA!!
invested a few solid runs last week on switch. It felt like learning all over again but worth it now up to #6 on the vid until i get better and can handle some more speed. Good video for learning thanks super helpful
Art Razz nice bro

I tried skating and getting on a lift while riding switch today. Fuck that bro, a pimp almost busted his ass and looked like a nerd in front of all the girls
Ben Dover dang that's what's up
Ben Dover this comment literally made my night because I did the exact same thing today 😂
Ben Dover all part of learning lol
Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this I ride switch just fine
Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this I probably ride switch better than you ride regular junior haha go take a fuckin lap, coach wants to see you in his office when you're done
Gracias chicos por sus videos, me han dado mucha ayuda para mejorar en el snowboard, saludos desde chile

Going boarding for 6 days pretty soon. Planning to use this vid to learn switch I’m hyped
Just a hand full of snow days in Germany so far but I started switch this season... 5 out of 10. Your videos are a damn good motivation!!! Thumbs up!
Going to hit the hills tomorrow my switch riding is about it 2 looking forward to trying them all out. Thanks for the great video!
10th run ever on snowboard and decided to follow these tips and ride switch most of day. Thank you! Amazing tips! Felt really comfortable after a few runs. going back to tomorrow for some fine tuning. ;))

Keep it up!

9/10 there's no way I'm getting on a lift switch 🙈 I tried it on a drag lift one time... Very uncomfortable.
1Flyingfist lol, that's the hardest for sure!! I'm literally prefer to snowboarding from the top of the Everest! (Okay, maybe not literally...)
The lifts at my resort are killer literally
Right!? The others I will try but also this just seems like a pain and isn't really a skill I'm concerned about working on.
I've been doing this recently and it seriously helps switch start to feel as natural as your normal stance. Do it on a day that's not busy so you can ride by yourself and pick a chair with a mellow exit. (If that exists at your resort)

thanks kevin. did 2 runs totally switch yesterday. took forever!!!! it's basically learning to turn all over again.
Ikr! I tried riding switch I fell as many times when I was learning and I've been snowboarding for two years never rode switch xD
+Bike Race Addict yeah only advantage from when i first learned (last year) is that i know how to stop.
Ahh, yeah that would help lol
I just wanted to say that you make great videos. I am just starting to snowboard and these help me a lot. You are a good teacher and always seem to have a positive attitude. Keep up the great work.
Awesome tutorial. I've got 6 challenges and try to practice every time. OK there's still some new challenges. Thanks for giving so useful advices!
not only do your videos help me a lot with riding but they also get me really stoked! keep it up!
good question
Awesome to hear! Thanks for watching!
Hey Kevin this video has helped build a lot more confidence in my switch riding and im gald i came across it. i am only on step 2 but im hoping to get to 4 after this weekends trip.
On my 4th day of snowboarding I already have carving and park tricks! You've helped a lot. Video of my progression in my profile
I've only done 3 of these but I'll try the rest but powder is hard to find where I am but I will still try.
dude plz keep posting the "improve your riding" videos they help so much!! this switch one is awesome..
Started really trying to ride switch about three years ago. I’d say I’m a 7. Moguls are difficult and not ready for switch tree riding. But I love being able to just spin whenever and feel comfortable.
Great idea, definitely need to try this.
Welcome to the regular life, all my friend hate going on chairlift with me because there all goofy
Nick Turgeon lol sameee
Nick Turgeon sammeeee
Sameeeeee
You just gotta make sure they're all to your left
Im currently at 3 with switch riding, off to France in 3 weeks so with some luck & practise I can make it to about 6 or 7! Thank for the tips!
Awesome! Where in France?
We are off to Les Arcs. Super excited to get on the mountain!
Great video! Switch riding is really helpful for learning tricks, so i need to get mine better
my first season I was riding goofy, but ended up switching to regular and haven't looked back. I can now ride switch pretty easily, but haven't the confidence to do so at speed (yet)
I'll try each challenge this seasson (my 2nd) at the end of the world down in Ushuaia! Regards from Argentina!
Thanks for the videos!!!!!!
Still have to wait for the snow... :(
Thanks for the great video. I just bought a new helmet so ready to start practicing my switch again.
This channel has given me so much insight on what I need to practice. Thanks for the succinct videos Kevin.
Just went on Sunday, practiced riding some switch. What a perfect video to get me ready for the next day out. Only 2/10 for me so far but I'll work on it :)
i'm too chicken to try the switch chairlift hahaha
awesome videos man keep them coming. helping my riding a ton! before I would just cruise down not really thinking about anything, now I am constantly challenging my riding and trying new things and having way more fun!
It's day 2 on the hill and I'm on 8/10. Don't think I'll get a chance to to hit the pow but those mogules are mine tomorrow.
Thanks for the video, it's heartening that you're having the same switch issues. Peace
Gott learn it this year! Your videos are amazing man!
love your videos man, watch your videos before I go snowboarding to get hyped to hit the slopes!
Made to 6.5!but you're right, getting on and off the charlift and skating swtich is definately the hardest!
Thank you so much for the tips, I'll try this weekend at Beech !
This is what I need. Thank you so much. I am going to try these 2 days later.
Thanks so much this really helped on the slopes definitely more confident when I go again!!
That's funny, your switch is my regular! I will try this next time out
Funny is that his Switch is Regular while Regular is your Regular :^)
his regular is goofy, but his switch is regular, which is your regular. And your switch is goofy which is his regular ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Glad that got cleared up 😉
It's the video I need so much! Thanks, cant wait to try it on slopes
Honestly once I got the feel for riding switch, I was popping 180's and better butters and 270's and 360's real quick after that. Switch is the secret bois, you'll even ride with less mistakes imo
Hello Kevin I'm Visiting Snow Summit this weekend watched all your videos, Thanks!
got lots of hills on my property , sore asf from this weekend at my local resort but im trying switch tmr
Great video. Thank you. My challenge for today ...👍🙏
One of my friends did this last winter - even going on T-bars switch. Needless to say, he got very good very quickly.
Don't face your back foot binding forward. Have both faces slightly out and it will make it feel a lot smoother
Also when riding switch make sure that you have you new front leg bent a little and new back leg kind of bent
Great video thanks PJ
love these videos! would you recommend changing foot position angles on board for switch?
Been rewatching all your guys’ videos getting hyped up for the season! Finally gonna learn to ride Switch this season and maybe progress into some tricks :D
I did 1,2, & 3 and then thought I could jump straight to 6.5! Boy was I wrong! 😂 Back to 4 for me, hopefully plenty of practice next few days riding with my daughter.
I am going to start riding a lot more switch, and this is the blueprint I will use.
I've done the first 2 and hit a small jump switch. Gonna try the lift switch next time I go!
Great video. I'm around a 7/10. Still a ways to go. I'm going to try a full switch day tomorrow.
Your videos are great they help a ton!
how do you even gain the patience to practice switchhhhhhhh lol its like you can board but you have to play like you can't board its struggle. I do it and I push myself to do it but get tired after a while lolol
+Mike Chen 完全一样...
+Mike Chen I understand you completely, but that just means you have to do it more! Once you start mastering it, you will have double the fun!
Is it possible you could do a video on some tips on how to do/get better at street style/urban rails? Keep up the good work!
I am a weirdo and just learned to skate regular, but ride down goofy, as a result though, I do ride switch pretty well! Tip 3 is my way of life everyday haha
Really nice video man! Definitely going to try some of these on my vacation next week!
Really great VIdeo! Thanks
3.5 I always catch an edge trying to do some smooth turns switch (goofy rider)
I am at 5 or 6 at the end of this season. Gonna try some side banks and side hits next year.
Awesome video Kevin and very helpful. I'm going to start working my way through the list this season. Keep the great videos coming, Thanks :-)
Switch chair/skate was fun to watch
Currently 7/10, my mountain doesn't really have moguls and a pow day is rare. But thanks for posting, definitely helps!
Hey Kevin! Great video again! I'm wondering when is the right time to start trying doing a switch?
Going to try my score tomorrow! Thanks so much!
These vids are so helpful. I might have watched them all :) thanks for the help 👍
thumbs up on your content dude keep it up
was going to be trying this out this weekend and broke my radius in my left arm, bummed that the seasons already over for me and it was short to begin with
