Very enjoyable rundown, guys. Surprised not to see Deep Purple - In Rock but hey. Hendrix also had his live Band Of Gypsys LP with the seminal performance of Machine Gun. My personal wildcard outside of your Top 10 and honourable mentions would be The Stooges - Fun House. I don't know if you've ever heard it. It was a sleeper that didn't even chart and is described as proto-punk. Probably the biggest influence on the punk scene of the late 70's. They must be one of the most covered bands ever - Depeche Mode, Guns N Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sex Pistols, The Damned, Rage Against The Machine to name but a few that have done covers. The bands impact at the time was minimal - a lot of people didn't like them but over time their influence became immeasurable. And if you prefer the harder rock of Zep and Sabbath then you'd be in tune with the record. Maybe give it a spin?
It was a phenomenal year. My personal inclusions / choices would have been Deep Purple “ In Rock” and Free “ Fire and Water”. Check them out Sir and Madam . I promise you won’t be disappointed. Best wishes from 🏴 England.
Layla-Derek & the Dominoes Live At Leeds-The Who Ladies of the Canyon- Joni Mitchell Plastic Ono Band- John Lennon Emerson, Lake & Palmer- (self-titled) A Question of Balance- Moody Blues 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus- Spirit Stage Fright- The Band I could go on & on........ LOVE the video concept! Keep going! 😄👍🏻
I own almost everyone of these albums, I'm 70 years old and my list is totally different than yours. But you weren't there to experience the feeling and enjoyment we did. Jim
Plastic Ono Band, Atom Heart Mother, Lizard (King Crimson), Emerson Lake and Palmer, Bryter Later (Nick Drake) would have had to make it into my own 1970 Top 10...but with so much choice of classic, genre-defining music being created in the years say 65-75 it's almost impossible to do these lists.
A 16yr old in 1970. This is my music. Even the LPs that didn't make your top 10 are wonderful. Well done. Neil has my heart with 'Southern Man'. He had the concern and the balls to be a vehicle for change.
Great selection - LZ III is way up there for me as well. Best of 1971 would also be fun (see you're doing Sabbath - Master Of Reality from '71 is (with many others) a personal fave. Late 60's / early 70's produced an embarrassment of riches musically....excellent reaction as always guys 👍👏
Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! Live album by The Rolling Stones. Or are we not doing live albums? 1970 had amazing depth when I went through the list. Spoiler alert: Pleased you didn’t put The Beatles at number 1 Mike. Dev, I’m ashamed of you 😂
I love this era of music, so much was ground breaking and creative. There is so much music at the time it's impossible for me to decide what I liked most.
Black Widow - Sacrifice. Released a month after Black Sabbath. Comus recorded their album First Utterance in 1970 but unfortunately didn't release it the same year. Both Black Sabbath:y in different ways. Must Listens.

Two albums that did hardly any business but have become two huge lnflunces are The Stooges 1970 and The Velvet Underground Loaded ❤

Yes I meant to write Fun House and not 1970. Jazz Punk Blues for sure.

1 Simon & Garfunkel, 2 Black Sabbath, 3 Beatles
Just an oddity for me. Although I love Santana and Neal Young, I probably would have plugged in Elton John’s “Elton John.” I listened to it a lot.
Honestly idk how you pick basically one hit song record over another. Layla deserves the list more than Moondance
A great journey via the music, 🏆🏆🏆🏆.
Big year with some highly influential albums. For my personal taste...
Chicago II - Chicago
Fire And Water - Free
For classic album years I’ll think you’ll find 1971 is better. Oh well, next time.
Excellent Choices appreciated by someone that was rasised on Top Forty Tones. Thanx Kids 😺

I loved Jesus Christ Superstar when I was a kid. I knew every line of every song.

Well, 1969 may have been a different story. Lol
Phenomenal year for music. My #1 is easily LZIII.

Sophomore in high school then. Best musical era, 67 to 74.
I would put Derek in the top ten. Duane and Eric dueling axes are epic.
Excellent reaction, enjoyed it lots! My list would have been very close!
Discovered your channel, very cool!
1970 is like choosing between gold gold and even more gold 😂
Afterthought...one album i see missing is Jimi Hendrix's Band Of Gypsies - a very influential record for both funk & rock in the 70's & beyond 👍
That's live, right? Will have to check it out at some point.
It is live -- Filmore East NYC 1/1/70 @@MusicforBusyPeople
