Great choices Larry! Can't argue with Led Zep, CSN, Kinks, The Who. So many fantastic records in '69. In my top 10 I would have to include; Let It Bleed, Five Leaves Left and Court of the Crimson King and perhaps even Space Oddity. The undoubted number 1 though is The Beatles' Abbey Road, side two being unsurpassable ... and side one ain't bad either. ;)

Soul '69 by Aretha Franklin, Bread's debut, Dusty in Memphis by Dusty Springfield, Live Peace in Toronto 1969 by the Plastic Ono Band and 20/20 by The Beach Boys are also pretty good too.
A good year. Hard to argue with your top choice. I still need to list to that Grand Funk album as well as Blind Faith. I love Zappa but Peaches En Regalia gets on my nerves. The Beatles' Abbey Road was unquestionably the best album of 1969. I generally agree with your list, Larry. Particularly the inclusion of Velvet Undreground and Kinks records.
Hi Larry! Nice list, as usual. I'm gonna do my best to participate, but I can't guarantee that I won't go overboard... *My process* As usual, my list would be my *Top Bakers Dozen* and all 12" Long Players would be eligible (Including collections, live albums, soundtracks and original cast recordings) Working strictly from my collection I gathered all of my 1969 releases and eliminated anything I haven't touched more than 2 years ago. An absolutely loaded year, probably the greatest year for rock music still, my top 10, had some tough emissions as well 1. In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson 2. Abbey Road - The Beatles 3. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground 4. Hot Rats - Frank Zappa 5. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere - Neil Young 6. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin 7. Arthur or The Decline and Fall Of The British Empire - The Kinks 8. Led Zeppelin II - Led Zeppelin 9. Let It Bleed - The Rolling Stones 10. Willy and The Poor Boys - Creedence Clearwater Revival
I go to the, in this case, 1969 in music Wiki page. About a third of the way down, it lists all the albums in release order. (FYI There were three CCR releases in '69. Bayou Country, Green River and Willy and the Poor Boys.) Abbey Road - The Beatles Wheatfield Soul - the Guess Who Chicago Transit Authority - Chicago Canned Wheat - the Guess Who Willy and the Poor Boys - CCR Stand! - Sly and the Family Stone Live Peace in Toronto 1969 - Plastic Ono Band Everybody Knows This is Nowhere - Neil Young More - Pink Floyd Crosby, Stills & Nash - Crosby, Stills & Nash
I don't connect with the 1960s as strongly as the 1970s, so I'll only share a top 10 to recommend. This winner has a huge margin in plays over #2 and #3. 1 Abbey Road - The Beatles 2 Let It Bleed - The Rolling Stones 3 Tommy - The Who 4 Then Plays On - Fleetwood Mac 5 Folkjokeopus - Roy Harper 6= Kidney Stew Is Fine aka Wee Baby Blues - Eddie Cleanhead Vinson 6= Stand - Sly & The Family Stone 8= In The Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson 8= Rainmaker - Michael Chapman 8= The Band - The Band
Very nice list, and I love your thumbnail XD. Such a great year for music, but my favorite would be In The Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson (Abbey Road, LZII and Blind Faith are close tho)
I'm glad to see The Velvet Underground on your list, It's definitely my favorite album of 1969. If you google '1969 (or whatever year, obviously) in music' you'll get a link for Wikipedia that lists albums released for that particular year. It's usually pretty helpful.
love Arthur by the Kinks. took awhile to discover it but well worth the listen. Gotta get Let It Bleed in there somewhere just for Monkey Man alone! good year for Classic Rock > Sabbath ready for 1970
Let it Bleed would be my #2 and I'd fit one of CCR's in theresomeplace as well as Chicago Transit Authority. Great list anyway you look at it. 1969...you couldn't spit without hitting a great album. I think that's why the one cd was hiding.✌☮🤟
1969 was such a great year for music and albums that I couldn't limit my list to just "classic rock," so with that in mind, here are two albums that I would have to include in my list of ten favorites from that year: Johnny Cash - At San Quentin B.B. King - Completely Well (the one with "The Thrill Is Gone")
OK so I want to comment my top 10 favorites but my knowledge of whole albums is sadly very poor so there are many albums ( and artists) that I should know that are on a very long to-do list.. So this is not as representative as your list, so let's just say this is the top 10 of my most beloved albums of 1969 in the limited range of the albums I've heard from that year. Same goes for fave bands starting with a certain letter etc. I hope it's still OK to comment 🫣. 10. The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed 9. Arzachel - Arzachel 8. Grateful Dead - Aoxomoxoa 7. King Crimson - In The Court of the Crimson King 6. Pink Floyd - Ummagumma 5. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II 4. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin 3. Crosby, Stills & Nash - Crosby, Stills & Nash 2. Jethro Tull - Stand Up 1. The Beatles - Abbey Road
Can’t believe nobody has mentioned Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service, Grateful Dead, Live Dead or Aoxomoxoa, Incredible Kaleidoscope by Kaleidoscope, Dusty in Memphis, Liege & Lief by Fairport Convention, Kick Out the Jams by MC5, Gilded Palace of Sin by Flying Burrito Brothers, so so many classic albums guys! 🎉
@@canadianstudmuffin and that's particularly true for 1969. I think you could listen to '69 albums for days and just cover the more/most known acts. And these are only top 10 listings, so how many albums can one expect to be mentioned... has anybody mentioned Pink Floyd's Ummagumma so far?
1969 is a VERY tough year to only pick a top 10. Perhaps the best year ever! In no particular order; 'Hot Rats' Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin I AND II, Creedance Clearwater Revival's 'Willie and the Poor boys', Woodstock, LIVE Dead, The Door's Soft Parade, Jefferson Airplane's 'Volunteers', Velvet Undergrounds 1969 LIVE, The Who's 'Live at Leeds. Sorry but for me, unlike most here, Abbey Road while certainly a good LP by most standards is overrated by Beatles' standards. A very well produced but very commercial and no longer cutting edge LP, with A LOT of filler. (I only really rate 4 songs off it. 'Come Together', 'Something', 'Here comes the Sun' and 'Because'. The rest, I can live without happily. I remember buying it and compared to the previous excitingly diverse explorative 'White Album' it was a real snooze and made me very sad indeed.) In 1970 'Let it Be came out and the death of the Beatles was clear enough. Lennon said that Abbey Road 'was the sound of a band dying'. I sadly agree!
this is one of the hardest! : 10- Hot Rats - Frank Zappa ... 9- Bayou Country - CCR ... 8- Led Zeppelin I- Led Zeppelin ... 7- Everybody knows this is nowhere - Neil Young ... 6- Green River - CCR ... 5- Let it Bleed - Rolling Stones ... 4- Crosby Stills and Nash - CSN ... 3- Led Zeppelin II- Led Zeppelin ... 2- Tommy - The Who ... 1- Abbey Road- The Beatles

1969 is a tough year for me, so many great albums. I'll go with Volunteers and Abbey Road at the top ( yeah that's 2 , I cheat) followed by Ball ( I love Iron Butterfly ) the 2 Led Zeps , CTA and Neil Young's Everybody Knows. Also Jefferson Airplane:Bless It's Pointed Little Head ranks very high for me but I know live albums are normally excluded. Love this year list videos!
Hot Rats, Yes, Led Zeppelin I and II, On Time, Grand Funk, Let It Bleed, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Green River, The Velvet Underground, Deep Purple, Arthur and Abbey Road of course...
1969 was a great year for music I still hadn't gotten over the release of the Beatles White album in 1968 years the who's Tommy blind Faith the Stones let it bleed

An absolutely loaded year, probably the greatest year for rock music still, my top 10, had some tough emissions as well
1. In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson
2. Abbey Road - The Beatles
3. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground
4. Hot Rats - Frank Zappa
5. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere - Neil Young
6. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin
7. Arthur or The Decline and Fall Of The British Empire - The Kinks
8. Led Zeppelin II - Led Zeppelin
9. Let It Bleed - The Rolling Stones
10. Willy and The Poor Boys - Creedence Clearwater Revival
I go to the, in this case, 1969 in music Wiki page. About a third of the way down, it lists all the albums in release order. (FYI There were three CCR releases in '69. Bayou Country, Green River and Willy and the Poor Boys.)
Abbey Road - The Beatles
Wheatfield Soul - the Guess Who
Chicago Transit Authority - Chicago
Canned Wheat - the Guess Who
Willy and the Poor Boys - CCR
Stand! - Sly and the Family Stone
Live Peace in Toronto 1969 - Plastic Ono Band
Everybody Knows This is Nowhere - Neil Young
More - Pink Floyd
Crosby, Stills & Nash - Crosby, Stills & Nash
Abbey Road is the only album I have in your top 10. Great album
I don't connect with the 1960s as strongly as the 1970s, so I'll only share a top 10 to recommend. This winner has a huge margin in plays over #2 and #3.
1 Abbey Road - The Beatles
2 Let It Bleed - The Rolling Stones
3 Tommy - The Who
4 Then Plays On - Fleetwood Mac
5 Folkjokeopus - Roy Harper
6= Kidney Stew Is Fine aka Wee Baby Blues - Eddie Cleanhead Vinson
6= Stand - Sly & The Family Stone
8= In The Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson
8= Rainmaker - Michael Chapman
8= The Band - The Band
Very nice list, and I love your thumbnail XD. Such a great year for music, but my favorite would be In The Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson (Abbey Road, LZII and Blind Faith are close tho)
Grandfunk Railroad (The Red Album) is my favourite and is their best IMHO. The whole album is a masterpiece.
What you’re doing is a difficult thing to do for me. Thanks much! Great stuff! 😎
Gotta get Let It Bleed in there somewhere just for Monkey Man alone! good year for Classic Rock > Sabbath ready for 1970
Arthur is indeed an outstanding piece of work.
Let it Bleed would be my #2 and I'd fit one of CCR's in theresomeplace as well as Chicago Transit Authority. Great list anyway you look at it. 1969...you couldn't spit without hitting a great album. I think that's why the one cd was hiding.✌☮🤟
1969 was such a great year for music and albums that I couldn't limit my list to just "classic rock," so with that in mind, here are two albums that I would have to include in my list of ten favorites from that year:
Johnny Cash - At San Quentin
10. The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
9. Arzachel - Arzachel
8. Grateful Dead - Aoxomoxoa
7. King Crimson - In The Court of the Crimson King
6. Pink Floyd - Ummagumma
5. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II
4. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin
3. Crosby, Stills & Nash - Crosby, Stills & Nash
2. Jethro Tull - Stand Up
1. The Beatles - Abbey Road
Larry, Your favorite band Nickel Back is on tour this summer 2023.
Like you said, there are so many classic albums, and we can't list every one of them.
@@canadianstudmuffin Yes, another album I forgot, fantastic jazz guitarist Larry Coryell called Coryell 😊
Once again can't question # 1. It's my favorite Beatles album.
The thumbnail 😂
I'm sure you helped them write some of their biggest hits
Larry, Abbey Road is your #1 😮? Didn't see that one coming 😉.
New York Tendaberry - Laura Nyro deserves to be up there, in my opinion. It's a brilliant piece of work!
