I am a widow I don’t have a husband and I’m always discouraged when I see a project and some of the steps are done by the husband. Thank you so much. Oh DeeDee. I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband. I do rely on mine a lot for help with the power tools, but I'm trying to get him to teach me so I can teach you. This video inspired me to refinish a dresser I got on market place. Finally found one that fit in our room but it was dated. My husband cut off the bottom like you did and we ordered some decorative wooden legs 🦵 and it turned out beautifully. I did another piece and gave it a more modern leg and its amazing how paint and new legs can update your furniture. Thank you very much.

    I just finished my second project-a 25 year-old oak colored dresser which was meant for a baby/young child’s room (one of the 2 dressers you can attach a changing table to). Anyway, we separated the 2 dressers-one we keep in our daughter’s bedroom (for when she visits) and the second one in the guest bedroom. I painted the one in our daughter’s room “Fluff” by Dixie Belle but primed it first with Slick Stick. I wish I would have watched this video first to know that sanding between primers is okay to do. I applied 2 layers of primer and 3 layers of Fluff, only sanding between paint layers. When I tackle the next dresser, I’ll definitely sane between primer layers! Thank you! (And I love your ‘I just want to drink coffee and paint furniture’ tee-shirt!)

    Nice job, I like how you sand in between coats. Most people don't understand the concept of prep, a tip that might help for brushing is to use extenders in your paint. . Helps the open time for stroking, it also self levels like an oil base. Great for water based products to look smoother. . Enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing. .

    • @Mereship
      @Mereship 3 года назад +1

      That’s a really good tip! Do you use any specific kind? How much of it do you use? What kind of brush do you use with that?

    • @julioaguirre553
      @julioaguirre553 3 года назад +1

      @@Mereship There are a few options of extenders on the market, Floetrol and XIM are 2 readily available ones that you can get at almost any paint supply store. Nylox brushes made by Purdy are probably the smoothest on the market for trim/ cabinetry, woodwork. . Be careful how much extender you put in, depending on humidity and temp they can very easily run away from you. Make sure the container says water based products.. With your skill level, I think you might be ready to be spraying to coats. It leaves factory finish which then gives room for pricing your pieces higher for sale, Graco has a Dewalt battery operated hand gun that is amazing. It's a little pricey, but investing in one will pay off. You can purchase a 208 fine finish tip that goes on the gun, that'll make any paint job pop like no other. The clean up on those are very simple, thanks for your response. I've been painting for over 25 years, from auto restoration to fine woodwork. Look forward to your next projects, take care.

Moreover, your redesign showed a way to rescue the 1970's and 1980's furniture with curved feet and brass handles. You can also sand with 400 grit sandpaper between topcoats for an even smoother finish. More work but a more professional finish. Murphy is absolutely the cutest puppy ever.
