Extreme Furniture Makeover | Spraying Chalk Paint & Adding New Legs
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 22 янв 2021
- I'm doing my most extreme makeover ever. I'm throwing all the techniques I've learned from my furniture flipping friends at this piece of furniture. I'll be adding a new base and new legs, grain filling, and spraying chalk paint and topcoat. You will not recognize this piece when I'm done with it. It was a wild ride, and I learned a lot along the way.

I love that you mention other flippers by name and give them credit for their ideas.
Yes. I would live to see a video on all the tools you use.
Love when somebody tell the truth ❤️ that sometimes it doesn`t go well the first time😊 but don`t give up 👍🏻 It turned out beautifull!!
I still have my mid century table! Left home early 95 with nothing except old stuff stored. I prefer it!
St Vincent de Paul donated a ved and washing machine for my son and I.
I'm glad I found my original mid century table bought beginning of 1970. Solid teak. Cost a fair bit, and it's still immaculate, getting its update too. Going back to 50's just like me, lol
Christina! Thank you for sharing your struggles as much as you share your successes. I’m a new furniture flipper and it’s so encouraging to see what I call the best of the best still make mistakes too.
Thank you for sharing!
thankyou for showing all the mistakes and the steps to fix it. everyone just shows how perfect everything turns out. the piece is so perfect
This video is a confidence builder. Seeing your struggles with this piece and how accepting you are of the learning curve makes me want to go grab a piece of furniture and just start playing with it! Patience takes the prize because that table turned into a treasure. Thanks so much for sharing these nuggets.
Amazing to see such a great looking modern piece made from an old fashioned sideboard cabinet that would end up in a dump. You are so clever and inspiring.
Awe, Murphy is adorable!! You're my favorite furniture flipper on RUclips!
"This one tried to take me out"🤣🤣🤣... I'm telling you! You came out swinging and winning! Amazing!!!❤
This piece turned out so beautifully. Despite all the issues you encountered, it really turned out gorgeous!!! Not fun to experience all those problems but it just goes to show why it's so important not to give up. Love, love, love!
For years I've owned a very early 50's sold oak cabinet very dark brown. I'm 70, an it was not new when i got it!I've never liked the heavy detail on the doors or drawers. Always had plans for the elephant in the room. Need it for storage, cannot afford to replace. Idea has been in my head for years, first work, then health held me back.
You call it a Hutch.
Stripped off side doors and drop down door in middle kept glass and wooden shelves.
Next stage. Turn both drawer fronts to other sides. Do the same with both doors. Paint black. Thinking upper in a slightly paler shade.
Vintage raised stencil on each door in lighter shade, then long stencil on drawers with just a smidgen of pewter gilding if I can find some.
I want it subtle.
You could have turned your doors, there being solid, though it turned out beautifully.
I like the finished project. I love that you added legs to it. The colors contrast great.
You have taught me to think "alternative" when approaching a situation. Thank you.
I would love to see comparison on the 2 diferent sanders!!
Did you see how much they cost? Damn.
I want to see as well!
Me too!
Yes, please!!!
Plz do this video
Thanks for sharing the good the bad and the ugly! It happens. We’ve all been there. In the end it works out but man it’s a lot of work. Great job! Way to hang in there and not give up.
Well that makes me feel better. I'm not the only one who messes up sometimes! Lol. I kinda wish you'd picked the other legs tho. Looks great!
I'm glad that you're not giving up on those doors. You're a 'not giving up' on anything type of gal, and that is good. It will be great to see what you do with them.
Yes please, a video comparing sanders would be great!
I love how this turned out! Your perseverance is pretty inspiring, too!
Beautiful. And thanks for sharing your fails, it helps us newbies. 😉
Total furniture surgeon. Looks awesome 👏
I envy your talent, especially your vision for a piece’s potential beauty.
Absolutely love the navy, the gold is perfect to contrast. Also I’m so here for the puppy content. 😍
Thanks! He's a cutie for sure.
@@ChristinaMuscari I love your flips. They always come out gorgeous in my opinion. I have a question. Help! Yikes! I used beyond paint in gorgeous white to paint all my bedroom furniture. It has been over 35 days and it still chips with the lightest touch. What should I do? IT has scratches and chips everywhere. Paint did not stick at all.
@@zairavicioso9467 Oh that stinks. I’m sorry. I haven’t had that issue with my piece at all. Did you clean it with a degreaser before you painted? Maybe try reaching out to Beyond Paint customer service.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Not every time you get a perfect piece to work on. Im a newbie and i already ran into a disaster because i didn't check the dresser i bought off market place. But i was able to fix it after watching at least 200 videos and some arguments with my husband. At the end it was worth it.
I have learnt a lot in this video. Thank you.
And yes i would love to learn about the sanders. And if you could share a video about Wagner sprayer that would be amazing. I want to invest in one but still hesitant a bit. And since I'm in Canada half the year i have to work in doors. My garage is freezing now a days.
Thank you Christina. I always end up learning something new from you. I love your review on different products. It makes it easier for me.
Thank you❤️❤️
I have a mini doodle named Murphy too🤭Loving your videos, Christina! Found you years ago and now I’m back into it, so excited☺️plus I’m moving into a new place Aug 1 and I’ll have a garage. Yay!🥰 and thank you!😊
Thanks Christina! So many lessons learned through your trials. What a beautiful result. I vote for leaving it where it is 😄
Thanks! I'm digging it, too. But I will conquer those doors. 😂
Looking forward to seeing how you conquer those doors!
WOW! Talk about roll with the punches! This turned out beautiful ! Great video with lots of learning.
Absolutely gorgeous. Your goof-ups made it better!
It turned out so lovely, your tenacity paid off. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 🤗🤗🤗
It turned out very pretty in spite of the problems along the way. Great job hanging in there! Gives me hope, lol!
I love the fact you are recycling furniture, it saves our dumps from overload and blesses others with new and innovative and appealing furniture. Keep it up!
Enjoyed this. Way to stick with it! I would love to see a video on the sanders!
You’re always so much fun to watch! Love how the piece came and can’t wait to see what you are doing with the doors!
So glad you stuck with it. It came out beautiful!!!
It is so beautiful Christina! Thank you for sharing the ups and downs with this project with us. It is helpful to me to know things don’t always go as planned with redoing furniture. Murphy is adorable. 💕
I love the end result with the exception of the legs. I don't think they do the piece justice.
I'm new at this furniture flip idea but I am going to try out my hand at it. I practiced on a piece in my home and it was a bit challenging but it came out great. I am so glad I didn't give up. My next piece is one just like this one. I think I'm going to keep it simple and not try too many changes even though your piece came out awesome.
Love this!!! The makeover is amazing - totally gives a worn out piece new life. Thanks for being so real! Also love the shoutout to Dani! We are from the same city & I consider her a mentor - she has taught me so much 💛
Beautiful! I love the baskets instead of the doors!
Phenominal! Love the contrast, so much depth. I've been trying to decide on a wood finish for my coffee table. This may be it! I would love a comparison on the sanders
Yes!! Please do a sander comparison!! Would love to see that.
Turned out great! Alot of the pieces I redo are usually soooo bad. I mean like soooo bad, but I have to save everything from the trash! Sometimes it's like a giant jig saw puzzle putting them back together!
It s beautiful... can't wait to see what plans you have with those doors...
Thank you for the transparency with this project. It turned out nicely.
Wowwww 🤩 I am a big fan of navy/white so... I looove this make over 🤩🤩🤩
This RUclipsr is ethical in every way. Cleaning up the furniture as she does is impressive.
Great tips! Looks beautiful! Thanks for taking us through it with you!
You still make it look easy! I like the no door look better anyway.
Looks great! Thanks for leaving the mistakes in. Great way to learn.
VVery pretty! I love the blue and wood contrast.
Thank you.
Yes I’d love to see a sander comparison video! Nice to see you broke out the sprayer again! I plan to buy one soon.
Hi Christina, I totally feel your pain with the sprayer. You have to be so so careful with the settings. This summer I did kitchen cabinets. And I had primed the first coat with a brushes. It looked smooth and silky. My fiance suggested I use the sprayer for the second coat to " save time." It changed the surface to an orange peel finish. Fortunately I only did it to a few drawers and cabinet fronts. But I had a total meltdown! I had to let them dry, resand and did them all over. I totally get where you are coming from in this. In any case your piece looks GREAT!
👍🏽👍🏽that Rotex RO90 is hands down the best festool sander to have! Dual mode heavy removal / finishing and also the delta attachment for corners
Worth every penny for woodworking/refinishing
Incredible! Great imagination and perseverance!
would love to see more of the technique used when spray painting the inside of the cabinet. Any tips you can share on those harder to reach areas?
Great suggestion!
Nice work Christina!! It turned out amazing. I hate when you have to go back a couple of steps... but it didn't stop you from creating a beautiful piece!
Would love to see more about your painting booth too!
Love the way it turned out without the doors actually. Perfect mistakes make great outcomes. 💞💞💞
I believe a wise man once said “There are no mistakes, just happy accidents.” -Bob Ross ✌🏼🥳
@@FirstLast-zr9cy nice. Similar to what I said. Great minds think alike. 😛
@@karennorth9318 lol. Yes, great minds indeed! When I mess up (which is often enough), I just sing this quote to myself. 😅
Wow, I just learned about 6 different things that will help me with a piece I’ve just need staring at for a couple months because I didn’t know how to fix some issues. Thank you!
Half woman half Amazing... Actually your Talent is completely Amazing beautiful Work... hard work pays off and the color and makeover was excellent it looks like a totally different piece!!! Keep showing off... can’t wait to watch your other videos.. I’m definitely taking notes 📝
Loved this one. It's encouraging to see that mistakes are human and can be fixed.
Hi Christina. What can I say, your work is amazing 👏 each time I am watching your videos I get inspired and I have never tried...
I love the first peas , it's great.
Mindblown! Absolutely an incredible update on this. WOW!
What an awesome video. Thank you for being so transparent. I have recently started painting furniture and it's not as easy as some people make it seem and it's because they don't share the troubles they face during the project. So thank you. This video helped me on multiple levels. You rock! This piece turned out beautiful.
I just love that you use a spray tent!
It is good to know that I'm not alone when I have to redo parts of my upcycles; thank you for sharing all aspects! The piece looks amazing & I love the color!!
Turned out gorgeous! I love that navy color. I did a navy piece earlier last year and I’ve been dying to do another one.
Wow you had some tenacity to get through that but it turned out pretty! Thanks for showing all the problem solving!
Thank you for always doing such a great job explaining your techniques! I also love that you show your mistakes and help us to learn from them too . I would love to see the comparison of the 2 sanders
Greetings from the UK! Great Project! Thank you for sharing.
It turned out beautifully! Lots of good tips! Can’t wait to get a spray paint tent. Didn’t know they existed!
I love, love, love this piece!!
This turned out AMAZING! Love it! I would love to see a video on the 2 sanders. Then maybe I'll feel a lil more comfortable using a sander the RIGHT WAY! LOL! Have a sweet weekend!
Love how it turned out. I getting new kitchen cabinet that color. You are so making me want to do gold pulls 🙋🏾♀️💕
I love all of your work. Thanks.
Again very good job Christina
Always awesome Christina! Would love the comparison of the sanders. Thanks ❤️🌺
Yayyyy I can’t wait
Amazing job! So much work, but the results are definitely worth it! Super useful tutorial too, thank you Christina! 👍🍀
It’s gorgeous! I love the fake floor trick. ❤️
Wow!!! Amazing transformation.. Awesome job Christina. Love seeing all the new techniques.
Great job! It looks nothing like the original piece! There are a lot of techniques to absorb in this video. My favorite is how you re-did that bottom and added the legs! What a beautiful transformation!
Thank you very much!
I love that you show us what went wrong and how you adapted and regrouped
Yes I would love to see the comparison
Turned out beautiful. So great to learn with you!
Well done for persevering... all good things come to those who wait! It looks amazing- love the new feet ❤️
GreT information. Thanks for sharing. I love the colors.
you could probably cut those center supports out if you want! To make it all open! I don't think they have any structure integrity just door stops! It looks great!! Good job!
Thank you so much for sharing all the mishaps. I found that super helpful!!! And, this turned out gorgeous...you not giving up on it is inspirational. And, then there's Murphy. Oh my, how cute!!!
Unbelievable beautiful and you did an AMAZING job. You are one true hard worker never gave up
We want all the videos 😋 you and FFT have motivated me to redo a lot of my furniture and just update my house all together. I’m a young home owner and just want my house to look good without spending a fortune! Thank you for all your videos, I have learned so much and have been so inspired!!!!
I love how it turned out. I have learned a lot from you. Definitely going to try the wax too!
Girl, you're tenacious. Good for you. It's beautiful!
I loved, so cool, modern ...
Thank you for sharing the good, bad, and this went really wrong. I have done the same with my sprayer. Dif. Paints act different for sure. YES, very interested in the sander, the dust collecting system. I am looking at the surf prep now. I get my 2nd new hip monday, argh, laid up again for 5 weeks!! I plan on having a new sanding system, when i can have at it again.
I'll be praying for your surgery and hip!
Fantastic sunshine. 🥰🌞
Yes, I’d like to see a comparison of sanders, too.
I really like how this piece turned out! It was a very teachable project......I learned a lot! I really like how the legs look that you chose, what a difference! And I don't miss those darn doors....lol
Great project!!!
Thank you very much, Christy!
Ausom job, I love it!
