Superb! So rare to see Solar 1's and yours is a truly excellent example. Surely if someone set up making fibre optic lights to this standard again there'd be a market? I know one of the reasons that these lamps dwindled in popularity was the purported danger of the glass strands of the sprays, but frankly I can't see why a disclaimer and cautionary notice couldn't circumvent any come-back to a concern that went for such a thing. The modern, cheap fibre optic plastic lights of today are not even in the same ball park of the vintage models!
Hello. Thanks for your kind words. I love this old lamp! Back in the day, as a boy, I would go to Spencer's stores and drool over this model (a couple of others too) but could not afford them. They were expensive decorations back then and they were definitely not intended to be toys. You're correct I believe as I read that the company did have some legal problems with people getting a glass poke in the hand.....though I suspect a hand poke was pretty rare. I understand the desire to run your hands over the fiber spray though, I refrain from it as it can break the fibers off. I would love to see these types of lamps reintroduced and built to the level of quality that this old lamp was!
I have a solar 1 in perfect condition except the spray was lost in a house move. Mine has a 15” diameter, same one? I have been searching for 18 years now but no joy. It was a beautiful lamp.

This lamp is an antique and this Solar 1 model hasn't been in production for thirty five years or more. Keep your eye on ebay or etsy if you hope to find one for sale.

Keep in mind these are one of the rarer Fantasia models and in my opinion their coolest design. They rarely come up for sale now days and they sell a bit up there in price when they pop up for sale....especially when in this condition.

That's too bad those sprays are very hard to come by especially in decent condition.

Did you have to trim that spray or did it work fine?
The spray is in its original shape, no trimming was done.
