@@davidwein1142 Drive in Drive Out. R hand on bell, left on hats, with 2 & 4 backbeat on the snare. Off the top of my head, his R foot is playing the same pattern as the R hand (bell of ride)
Hey Ben. I practised this the way you taught it. I watched your video again to lock in some aspects of what you were doing. I actually enjoyed playing open handed in the groove into the double paradiddle. It felt great and I added extra bass drum kicks as you did and added extra accents here and there. Sounded great. I am glad I found your video on this lesson. Rock On Ben......
This is a great lesson mate. I have been using the double paradiddle in triplet format for a while now. I did a video of doing a groove using the single paradiddle. This is cool. Thanks man for this one.
I believe Pantera song "Slaughtered" has something along the lines of this groove. It's the bridge section where I am pretty sure Vinnie is doing a double paradiddle type of groove . Don't you think so folks?
Hi Ben - awsome man - I think I might even be able to do it in a few weeks to include in my own gigging. Just a footnote - just before putting your left hand on the hi hats I am pretty sure you say we will put out right hand on the hi hats (your way certainly looks more comfortable).
Playing it with the L hand lead threw me off a sec. I think your example is different than your notation. I've been using that groove forever. 1st noticed it on a DMB tune "Drive in Drive out". It's super useful, and yet another way to incorporate rudiments into playing
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the click represents 8th notes and the Snare stays on count 3 of each measure, independent from which pattern is used, these triplets are 8th note triplets, not 16th note triplets.
Very good tutorial clear straight and awesome groove , and my reaction on de previous one by Edward , seems you have no understanding of different tune settings of snares and recording\
Bro that's a very good lesson, but can u please tell me how do u lead with your left hand while playing bass drum leading with your right foot in a right handed players kit? I started learning drums in a right handed player's kit though my left hand is stronger. I lead with my right hand and right foot and sometimes they feel so weak, and I'm trying my best to fix that. Thank you. Cheers!
Hey brother, I play Sabian cymbals as well and I’m really interested in what stacks you have on the kit in this video. I know a ton about the Sabian brand & wanna know what cymbals u are linking together to make that great sound. Love the video man!! Peace
A useful, well explained video & nice clean drumming. No disrespect intended but this genre of video is inherently problematic:the student needs a strong skill set before attempting. The student must know 16th note triplets, be able to execute at speed & have strong accent control. These elements take months, not weeks, to properly master. Nevertheless, a good video.😀
I wish I learned open handed from the start. My left hand would dun be so strong now. Sometimes I do it but its not really really strong. But I'm my own worst critic. Oh and the dbl pardidle can be played for the beat in fool in the rain by led zep, Bonham. MMM Kay? Mmmm kay
Man, that's such a nice groove. I didn't recognize em as a double (or any rudiment) when I heard Carter Beauford play it for DMB
Which song is Carter playing a double paradidle? Thanks.

Awesome. Double Pdiddles was the third or fourth rudiment my old drum teacher taught me. I’m glad I learned them early on.
They're so useful!

That's awesome! Plenty of right handed players incorporate a bit of open-handed playing into what they do
I agree. It gives us more vocabulary on the kit especially in Linear playing and solos.
Best drummer & teacher on RUclips! Man seriously! hats OFF Sir!
+Joythar Kemprai thanks a lot! Appreciate you watching my videos
Nah hats on dawg, they’re my favorite part of the kit!

Easy to achieve and to implement. Thank you.

Hi, nice pattern! Somewhere around min 5 of the video the groove starts with the left hand on the hh while the notation still starts with R;-)
Thank you! Got it immediately. Very clear and easy to understand

Very cool man thank for the lesson. Interesting you play left handed on a right handed setup.
Killer!! Love this!

High end smoother and last longer.

So basically slaughtered by pantera
Harry Potter on drums
harry potter?
open handed players giving basic lessons for beginners is a bad idea. You are going to confuse the shit out of people.
Drums sound really dead. Snares good...toms?? what are you playing so I can avoid any of these products. No offense, being honest.
Why do you play open handed
he's left handed
Nch Croy it's because he's left handed. Obviously learned on a kit set up for a right handed person

When did Harry Potter start teaching drums?
#OMG! That metronome sounds like sh_t!!!! There is better out there!
