    This is what people don’t understand - the 24/7 mental pressure. They think the injecting is the hard part because of needles. Ha, that’s so easy, it’s the constant guilt and anxiety and need to keep on top of everything and constantly not feeling quite right but not exactly ill which is the hard part. No one asks how you’re doing with it because they don’t get it. Completely on my own with this, have been for 15 years and always will be. Not being a victim, 75% it’s fine and you get used to it. But it’s tiring and wears you down and just nice to see this acknowledged when usually invisible to others.

      100% agree. If it was "just" injections that would be manageable. It's the fact the tiniest thing has the potential to rapidly change your blood sugar level and the fear of complications down the line.

      I totally agree , Your Life is ruled by the Foods You can and cannot eat ,stress ,for example when My Son or Anyone comes to visit or when I go out somewhere ,I have to eat !!!! I can no longer exercise by having a brisk walk as advised because I am crippled with Arthritis and pain ,tired all the time ,I have every sympathy with Everyone Who has repled and Black Cat and Others describe the effects much better than I but It really rules Your Life especially when You have led such an active varied Life before Diabetes ,but I have been sent a Link to BBC Scotland this Morning which gives some hope of relief ,take a look and see if It gives You at least hope for a better Life with Diabetes?

      100% feel this. The guilt of seeing your readings in the 300’s for 2 weeks straight when you just keep injecting more & more & for what? Waking up with blurry vision & fiending for sugar like an addict to heroine when you finally get back to the “normal BS” range. Sometimes I just wanna die & get a new meat suit already.

    • @GalacticVoidz
      @GalacticVoidz 2 года назад

      Yeah, most people think that the hard part is all the injections and blood tests but it’s not, once u get used to the feeling of injections everyday it’s fine, sometimes it hurts a bit and bleeds but u get over it, luckily since I’m not older I don’t really do any of the working out of anything so that my bloods stay okay, but yeah I would agree with the first half since I don’t really relate as much to the rest

I find it hard to focus on or remember anything, eating is a hassle, exercise feels impossible, sleep schedule is never consistent and maintaining relationships can be a chore. You try to do everything right and nothing seems to stick. I'm not necessarily aiming for perfection but I'd just like to find a routine that works so I can get on with living a normal life.

He's the worst & will never understand my suffering with this disease. He says I pity myself too much when I was venting to my mum about how extra hard it's been lately with this disease & how its really been taking a toll on my mental health. Not many people truly understand just how EXHAUSTING and GRUELING DEALING WITH THIS IS. I've had it for 10 years now almost 11 years this July. I got diagnosed at the tender age of 13. I was just a child. I haven't been the same since. I'm so so so sorry to all of you who have to deal with this. Hopefully, there can be a cure someday.

    I’ve had type 1 d since 2009, through most of that time I’ve continued to work quite a physical outdoor job. The effects of diabetes and the depression that has come with it feel like they’re slowly wearing me down. I feel very much on my own with managing the mental aspects of it. I get the impression most people do not grasp the mental impact and think if you have days off you’re either being lazy or it’s your fault due to poor management.

    I was diagnosed with type 1 in 2016 at age 29. At the time I was teaching and finishing a PhD, so I had presumed I was "just stressed" until I got the diagnosis. I echo what everyone has said with regards to it wearing them down, and I thank them all for sharing their stories. In addition to the mental health issues that don't get enough attention, I also believe that not enough is said about it's impact on sleep habits: it has given me terrible insomnia that I'm still in the process of dealing with.

      Because the cost of making and selling insulin and other diabetic supplies like needles, test strips, etc is too profitable for pharmaceutical companies to just have disappear. I'm a type 1 btw and I know that pharmas are not interested in cures because in my lifetime they've stopped making some of the cheaper, less profitable insulins that many preferred because it wasn't profitable, not because they didn't work and for some they were preferred to the newer ones, but rather than give what's best for the patient, they give what's best for their wallets ☹️

    I have Diabetes since many years and it’s a pain in the ass for sure but I find this psychological problem a bit overblown. It’s hard, yes, but I‘m not gonna thrive in some kind of victim mentality. This simply does not help. Get your act together, be positive, don’t make yourself a victim. Take your sugar if you’re low and your insulin if you’re high. There‘s nothing more to it, really. Complaining and extra suffering will get you nowhere.

      @@theloreaxe My comment was not to bash anybody. I agree that people are different and I’m not an emotional stone of course, but one has to raise the question why some people are like this and some are stronger. The victim narrative which is being pushed in our society today is definitely not helping, more so it’s generating a lot of harm. Many people who watch such videos get the impression that it‘s ok to see themselves as victims. But REAL compassion is to teach them that they are NOT.

A complete utter lack of awareness as to what type one diabetes is. People handle stuff differently, ur not helping anything by trying to lessen the problem. Im sure its easy to u, but the thought of living a shorter life than everyone around me is an unbearable thought none the less. I have had type 1 since 2004. I have never understood why people moan about it. You either grit your teeth and manage it or die within a matter of days. There is no room for being depressed.

      DONT forget even before getting diagnosed with diabetes- some people could be suicidal or extremely depressed and with the added pain it can be too much.

      @@kingtaetae7156 In which case the depression is the cause. A depressed person, like a non-depressed person will know that being emotive with type 1 diabetes is a fruitless endeavour
