As a German main this is true. If we talk about a non bias skill involved the is-2 clearly wins. Even though the is-2 is longer on its reload it’s most likely to take out the tiger on its first shot. But I got to say when it comes to armor layout both have a good amount of week spots. So while the is-2 is most likely to get the kill, the tiger has lots of chances to kill the is-2
@CHAD THE BORIS I typically win when it comes to head on engagements against the IS-2 in my tiger 1, either giving them a hard angle from around a corner with my UFP, or a slight turn to throw off their shot making them hit a strong point on the tiger. However, these videos are to show which tank is better from its personality rather than a persons skill. Say 2 new players who have never played either tank or know how to go against them, the player in the is-2 will most likely get the kill unless he he misses the first show, then the tiger will have 2 to 3 shots in before he can shoot again.

I feel like they got people to use the tanks for their first times. They have next to idea about anything about specific weak points and strategies for the tanks, and only know about angling
ima gonna be real, i prefer the old tank versus where they compare the essentials pros and cons (turrets traverse speed, acceleration, ect) than this new "skill" base engagement. in my opinion, there's a bunch of error that can be avoided easily in this series (like the tiger E shouldn't just peek out in the last engagement, or they should just pop smoke on the second engagement then close the distance through different routes).
It's the opposite actually. At long ranges, you often need to shoot a ranging shot first (or you just miss your first shot anyway) and this is when having faster reload is crucial. At close ranges, where you basically can't miss longer reloads is not that big of an issue (unless you are facing multiple enemies, then you are screwed)

The fact that this show exists, on top of the absolutely asinine scenarios they play out, goes a long way to prove the problems with War Thunder and how Gaijin imagines their game is played.

Next round is going to be interesting. The rounded hull of the early Shermans is a massive liability if the Pz.IV gets the first shot, but there's plenty of vulnerabilities on the Panzer as well if the Sherman gets the drop on it. Hell, the sides of the hull on the Panzer can be penned by .50 BMG fire, let alone cannon rounds.

i feel like the first fight was at least less scripted than some other fights we have seen but still scripted none the less the is-2 most likely would have moved out of that position.
Honestly it all depends on who shoots first.But overall i prefer Tiger E as it has slightly better mobility ratio,reload rate and armor(when angled) than IS-2 model 1943 combined with it’s one extra crew member and superior optics.

Man even the Germans here are brain dead. If you see and IS2 with the backward technique, you break off and find another angle. Nobody in their right mind will hope to keep trying to pen that backward technique with the IS2. The third round is just a patience game. Just like German players who just thinks that pressing W will mean that shells will automatically bounce.
The point of the backward technique is that the IS-2 eliminates its frontal weakspots. It's a great technique on open maps where enemies can't hide as much even if they disable the engine.

The IS-2 was a typical Soviet/Russian product; great on paper, borderline garbage in reality. Even so, it was by far the best heavy tank the Soviets ever built - but that's not really saying much. It brought a big gun to the fight, but that's about it. It was a primitive vehicle, basically an upgraded KV-1 with a bigger gun and different armor layout. It was difficult to penetrate the upper front hull, but even non-penetrating hits resulted in deadly spalling in the interior, due to the very hard and brittle armor plates. The Soviets compensated for poor ammo quality by putting bigger guns on their AFVs. The 122mm on the IS-2 could actually barely compete with the 88mm L/56 on the Tiger 1 in sheer penetration. In one instance a Tiger 1 took a hit from an IS-2 to the upper front plate at just 25 meters, and the round glanced off the angled Tiger (Jentz 1995). The same Tiger 1 unit also reported that most IS-2s would turn away when they realised they were facing Tigers.
Can we talk about how stupid these battles are? Second battle: IS 2 fires at the ANGLED side of a tiger, doesn't pen, then proceeds to load HIGH EXPLOSIVE? In any normal circumstance, if the Is2 player is caught off guard, only then the tiger wins.
IS-2 did everything right. IS-2 AP shell can't really pierce an angled tiger's hull, and mantlet is unreliable (there are a lot of places where it doesn't pen even at close range, which you can clearly see in the first encounter even in this video), and HE shell is a guaranteed kill if hit the turret. Yes, IS-2 HE shells kill tanks if you hit the turret. If you don't know that, maybe you are the one who just need to get better.
The Is2 is the best way to use is with the engine in front and reversing, the engine absorbs all the spall from any shell that's aphe and not solid or apds.
I appreciate both since I use both tanks Both did good effort but in the battle against veterans players or new players, strategy matters most. Having your weak armor while angling will get yourself killed in one shot by any other round by any tank… i but the is needs to be careful too, it also have plenty of weak spots too
kinda feel that last battle was a little rigged , if i was the tiger i would have hit the track explosed on the angle and then flanked the IS for it to chase me and prepare an ambush . but thats just me
next match will be one of the "who clicks faster wins" assuming that F2 will be using traditional ambush tactics. If not M4 will win all except sniping duel. It's more mobile, stabiliser makes it shoot first during any encounters and i'm nearly certain it has better reload with same crew skill.
I love tiger than is-2, i have 59-70% winrate with tiger, its more reliable, good armor if you angled it. IS-2 has excellent penetration but longer reload, and worse gun depression.
Ah yes, the IS-2 is famous for its stabiliser, APFSDS, thermal optics, composite armour and FCS. Seriously if you struggle killing IS-2s thats a skill issue my friend, they are easy to kill if you have more than 5 brain cells

u can tear the tiger up with the 122 at any range while with tiger u should aim for the ws. Even angling doesn't work against 122. Not to mention the 1944 version that has effective armor equal to tiger2s.

IS-2 is more likely a long rang vehicle due to is slow reload and amazing armor penetration

If the IS-2 does that, you can use the Pzgr. shell to overpressure the crew. You need to avoid hitting the engine or the transmission.
Hitting the turret cheeks from that distance isn't so easy

The point of the backward technique is that the IS-2 eliminates its frontal weakspots. It's a great technique on open maps where enemies can't hide as much even if they disable the engine.

The IS-2 was a typical Soviet/Russian product; great on paper, borderline garbage in reality. Even so, it was by far the best heavy tank the Soviets ever built - but that's not really saying much.
It brought a big gun to the fight, but that's about it. It was a primitive vehicle, basically an upgraded KV-1 with a bigger gun and different armor layout. It was difficult to penetrate the upper front hull, but even non-penetrating hits resulted in deadly spalling in the interior, due to the very hard and brittle armor plates. The Soviets compensated for poor ammo quality by putting bigger guns on their AFVs. The 122mm on the IS-2 could actually barely compete with the 88mm L/56 on the Tiger 1 in sheer penetration. In one instance a Tiger 1 took a hit from an IS-2 to the upper front plate at just 25 meters, and the round glanced off the angled Tiger (Jentz 1995). The same Tiger 1 unit also reported that most IS-2s would turn away when they realised they were facing Tigers.

Can we talk about how stupid these battles are? Second battle: IS 2 fires at the ANGLED side of a tiger, doesn't pen, then proceeds to load HIGH EXPLOSIVE? In any normal circumstance, if the Is2 player is caught off guard, only then the tiger wins.

IS-2 did everything right. IS-2 AP shell can't really pierce an angled tiger's hull, and mantlet is unreliable (there are a lot of places where it doesn't pen even at close range, which you can clearly see in the first encounter even in this video), and HE shell is a guaranteed kill if hit the turret. Yes, IS-2 HE shells kill tanks if you hit the turret. If you don't know that, maybe you are the one who just need to get better.
The Is2 is the best way to use is with the engine in front and reversing, the engine absorbs all the spall from any shell that's aphe and not solid or apds.

Both did good effort but in the battle against veterans players or new players, strategy matters most. Having your weak armor while angling will get yourself killed in one shot by any other round by any tank… i but the is needs to be careful too, it also have plenty of weak spots too

kinda feel that last battle was a little rigged , if i was the tiger i would have hit the track explosed on the angle and then flanked the IS for it to chase me and prepare an ambush . but thats just me
next match will be one of the "who clicks faster wins" assuming that F2 will be using traditional ambush tactics. If not M4 will win all except sniping duel. It's more mobile, stabiliser makes it shoot first during any encounters and i'm nearly certain it has better reload with same crew skill.

I love tiger than is-2, i have 59-70% winrate with tiger, its more reliable, good armor if you angled it. IS-2 has excellent penetration but longer reload, and worse gun depression.

Ah yes, the IS-2 is famous for its stabiliser, APFSDS, thermal optics, composite armour and FCS. Seriously if you struggle killing IS-2s thats a skill issue my friend, they are easy to kill if you have more than 5 brain cells

yeah i dont think a tiger would be straight upping an IS at range, theyd be shooting and moving to cover, likley not even dealing with that at that range, or atleast angling appropriate to the incoming round

u can tear the tiger up with the 122 at any range while with tiger u should aim for the ws. Even angling doesn't work against 122. Not to mention the 1944 version that has effective armor equal to tiger2s.
