This was the first song they released after the main song writer/guitarist Tom Searle died from cancer. The guy meditating is his twin brother Dan who is also the drummer in the band. Interesting thing about the video, it takes a lot of visual cues from a movie called The Fountain which is all about accepting the inevitability of death and making your peace with the loss of loved ones; hits hard with the song having been written about the loss of their bandmate Tom Searle.

The album was written and released after tom (the band's guitarist) died. In this album, you can really feel the anger and despair of the band.
I love good lyrics, but the overall of sound of a song is what draws me in at first. Then I'll start paying attention to the different bits, and I go through several phases of loving the same song for different aspects of it. First, I just love the song. Later, I'll love it for the drum work, then it's the intricate guitar bits that keep me coming back, then the vocals, the bass, the lyrics. Hell, it might be something very simple, like a bass slide, or a particular scream, that has me loving it.
Love this breakdown! Their new album has a lot more experimentation while also keeping their root sound intact. BTW, please react to the new LANDMVRKS, specifically their song Lost In The Waves!
Another fun story about this song is that when they released this song back in 2017, they said it was a standalone single and wouldn't be on the next album, Holy Hell. When I bought the album, because it's amazing, I was going to sleep. Now, they didn't put a tracklist on the back of the CD, so when I heard this song on there, I was sat right up in bed with joy :)
A little bit about the VOCALS: Sam Carter is a legendary vocalist. His clean singing is beautiful, but he's definitely known for his screams. In my opinion he has perfected the "fry scream" technique, and does an expert job of mixing that same "fry" sound (compression based-grit) with his true cord phonation (singing). On top of this the production is amazing and the vocal layering of screams/singing is wonderfully done. I've seen Architects multiple times and Sam's near flawless performance always amazes me. One of the best live bands 🤘 Awesome reaction Geebz can't wait for more!
Definitely check out more architects, anything from albums "All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us" and "Lost Forever // Lost Together" is phenomenal but even their other albums have tracks worth reacting/reviewing

GEEBZ so so glad that you’ve discovered my favourite band in the world. These lads have been through a lot as their guitarist and main songwriter (as well as the drummers twin brother) passed away. Doomsday was actually their first release as a group after his death. Highly recommend their live, in studio orchestral version of their new song Animals! Also, and these are much more obscure choices but ones that you’ll really really dig - Demi God and Flight Without Feathers. Super cool arranging on both and some very funky chord progressions!
It's me again! Hey Geebz! Please react to more Architects! Hereafter and Gone With The Wind are two of my favs. But also Downfall, Gravity, Goliath, Deathwish, Phantom Fear, A Match Made In Heaven, Royal Beggars, Modern Misery, The Seventh Circle, Libertine, Impermanence ... They're all good :) Congrats on (just about) a year! I changed my mind. My top pick is Gone With The Wind. And if you want to feel extra emotional listening to it, do a little background into the song/band before listening. It's incredible.
So happy you finally did Architects and that you love them! Please check out more of them. And a composer please check out their newest & latest video of Animals [Orchestral Verison]. Youll love it!
Loving the work still Geebz. Got a few suggestions: Dethklok - a "fictional" melodic death metal band, written and mostly performed by one guy. Try the song "Black Fire Upon Us" The Devil and the Almighty Blues - slower, kinda grungy blues rock band, maybe the song "Root to Root" (tho anything from their first two albums is killer) Mick Gordon's "BFG Division" - as we're doing videogame soundtracks now, this will melt your brain
Lol, I was thinking about Dethklok as well. Dethklok has some crazy good songs, though. For a "fictional" band, they are better than 90% of what's out there.
The music video's actually comprised of clips of the band, and sequences evoking (or outright lifting effects wholesale from) the Aronofsky film The Fountain, which deals with death and grief in three simultaneous storylines featuring the same couple across different timelines. If you haven't seen the film or heard the soundtrack, it's a HUGE recommend. I can't put into words how beautiful it is.
Was so excited to see that you reacted to one of my all time favourite bands! So nice to hear my thoughts on their work being verbalized and worded so illustratively!
Aloha, still here!!! Just gotten into Architects and this is a great track. Can't really offer another but listened to some of the suggestion and the one with the orchestra is awesome!
You may have already been told this in the comments, but a lot of what you are hearing as synth/pads is actually clean guitar with a considerable amount of reverb, amongst other processing effects. You actually get a good listen to this in isolation on Nail The Mix's video they did with the producer for their song Gone With The Wind. I really love your analysis of this, and as a new subscriber, I look forward to more of these!

I think Weightless by Northlane would show the full talent of Marcus on vocals. Then in terms of the full band, maybe newer stuff like 4D or Freefall.
Marcus Bridge is a top-teir vocalist 💯 up there with Sam Carter, Spencer Sotelo, Lucas Magyar
Dispossession is another good one
Rot or Obelisk
Massively underrated tracks
Yeees! This was my favorite song for about 2 Years
This is fun.
They did a Piano version of this song. It would be cool to hear you break that down and talk about they differences and similarities.
If you haven't already you should check out the live music video for this song, it somehow has even more emotion
Thank you so much for this, great analysis and breakdown of the song 👌 RIP Tom Searle 🖤 You should check out Josh Middleton's band Sylosis, he's the other guitarist in the band. I would love for you to do their song "I Sever"! 🤘
Josh is the best current modern riff master. Sylosis is the master class for riffage!
I think Worship Decay would also be a good starting point. They don't have a bad song!
Love this song. First time on the channel, really enjoyed it and will be back!
DUDE! Thank you for doing Architects! I was wondering if this was ever gonna happen
You did Architects!!!! YEESSSSS! I knew you'd like it! Try Dead Butterflies if you want to hear more.
Architects is the shit. Still jamming their new album daily☄️
Excited for you to begin your journey with Architects! They're an awesome group🤘
So happy you finally did Architects and that you love them! Please check out more of them. And a composer please check out their newest & latest video of Animals [Orchestral Verison]. Youll love it!
Your analysis is incredible! Thx!
Architects are an amazing band
Please do more Architects! Also the bass player doubles as the piano player.
Loving the work still Geebz. Got a few suggestions:
Dethklok - a "fictional" melodic death metal band, written and mostly performed by one guy. Try the song "Black Fire Upon Us"
The Devil and the Almighty Blues - slower, kinda grungy blues rock band, maybe the song "Root to Root" (tho anything from their first two albums is killer)
Mick Gordon's "BFG Division" - as we're doing videogame soundtracks now, this will melt your brain
Lol, I was thinking about Dethklok as well. Dethklok has some crazy good songs, though. For a "fictional" band, they are better than 90% of what's out there.
Erra + Protest the Hero are definitely a couple bands worth listening to in the prog rock/metal family.
It is time for me to recommend Textures - Awake. My favorite song in this genre.
Absolutely beautiful song
RIP Tom
Wow, I'm early on this one, and one of my fave bands aswell, can't wait. AWWWRIGHT!! Much love from the UK.
Steven Wilson's song "To the Bone". I think you'd like it!
Rest in peace Tom
You NEED to check out their song "Animals" (Orchestral Verson) holy crap.. powerful, powerful song.
Architects newest album is AMAZING
You may have already been told this in the comments, but a lot of what you are hearing as synth/pads is actually clean guitar with a considerable amount of reverb, amongst other processing effects. You actually get a good listen to this in isolation on Nail The Mix's video they did with the producer for their song Gone With The Wind. I really love your analysis of this, and as a new subscriber, I look forward to more of these!
Keep it up!! Love your work and energy! #AWWWWWRIGHT!!!
do gravedigger I'm listening on loop it's another great song by architects
