Oh man, here we go. This song and video have SUCH a deeper meaning that you could ever imagine. Lets go back in time just a little bit. This song came out as a single after their previous album All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us. Their main song writer was their late guitarist, and brother of the drummer Dan, Tom Searle. Now if you listen to the album AOGHAU without any context, it just sounds like the songs are about how shitty the world can be but Tom in fact wrote most of they lyrics from a dying mans perspective. It wasn't made known until after the album had come out but Tom had cancer and he eventually lost that battle. Songs like Gone With The Wind and Memento Mori on that album have HUGE meaning once you know the back story. That being said, Doomsday was a work in progress that Tom was never able to finish. The band decided to finish it for him as a tribute. The person you see sitting in the video is Dan, Tom's brother. I beg you to rewatch this and listen to they lyrics again with this new found knowledge. It brings a whole new light to this song and this band. Regardless, this was a great reaction and keep up the great work guys.
Ooohhhhh shiiit! Doomsday!? Welcome to another wormhole! Royal Beggars Naysayers Gone with the wind 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 And this song was also was the first new material recorded by the group since the death of their original lead guitarist and primary songwriter Tom Searle in 2016. Tom was also the twin brother of one of the band members. *gone with the wind* was written about Searle‘s three-year battle with cancer, which was not publicly known at the time of the songs release.
The piano reprise of this song is insane and Hereafter is sort of a continuation. All have incredible graphics! The guitarist and main songwriter died of cancer. He was also the drummer’s brother. His name is Tom and a lot of their music now is done in his memory. That is what the video is about. Definitely do more Architects!
Oh my! You need to check out all of there old stuff! The newer stuff is a little softer! But it's still really good! Heresay is one of the best songs I've heard
@Advanced Solutions oh really, must have missed it, obviously not following as well as I thought I was, well hopefully they will do more, so many good tunes
The visuals are heavily inspired from the movie "the fountain" starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weiss. A very sad but powerful film about dealing with death. Definitely watch if you haven't.
The song was written by their lead guitarist Tom who was battling cancer and knew his death was coming soon. The lyrics are his perspective on facing death. He died in 2016. He was the twin brother of the drummer Dan.
I just discovered this channel & really dig you guys’ chemistry, very entertaining. And I love that you guys are open to listen to different genres such as this. Architects is one of my favorite bands. Keep it up!
Spiritbox just recently got signed to Rise Records in September 2020. They were with Pale Chord Records prior to that. Pale Chord is an independent label that just started a partnership with Rise Records in September.
Loved the Devo & Prince nods. You know MJK is such a fan that he named his son Devo. And we threw a big end of the world party on Dec 21 2012, after spending Y2K at a cabin in the woods just in case 😄 Great song, sorry to read in the other comments about the loss to skin cancer. Hits home.
No one does passion and emotion like Architects. Songs you should check out: Gone with the Wind Naysayer These Colours Dont Run (older song but very good and relevant to 2021) Royal Beggars
a lot of the visuals and design for the music video is inspired by, and in one instance lifted directly from, a beautiful movie called The Fountain, by the writer/director of Black Swan, Daren Aronofsky. It's a film that, fittingly for the song, is about the grieving process and the lengths people will go to to either escape it or embrace it. It makes a lot of sense for them to use visuals from a sequence titled "Death is the Road to Awe".
Loving the more frequent videos reacting to new bands. I think Muse should be looked at. The singer would be a contender for your vocalist competition. Check out Knights of Cydonia or Psycho
Love your reaction videos and how open minded you guys are, glad I found you months ago and glad you reacted to Architects! I feel like if you’d known the backstory before listening to the song it would’ve massively hit different for you both, especially listening to the lyrics and the imagery. 6 years on and it’s still sad to listen to. T/S 🖤
You guys should try out Warkings, either Odin's sons or Sparta, both featuring Melissa Bonny, I think after your reaction to Teťana (Tatiana) with Jinjer, you will like Melissa
New Falling In Reverse, guys, called I'm Not A Vampire Revamped, it's one of the most epic videos and songs in history. Guys you need to react to this!
Hell yeah! My nephew is currently in a band with Michael levine, the touring drummer for Falling in Reverse for 6 years. Also in the band is, Matt mcjunkins (A Perfect Circle, Pucifer, Eagles of Death Metal) The band is "Solaria" My nephew is the vocalist and primary songwriter (Shuan Snow) you will be hearing about them very, very soon. The first single is called, "The Key To Life"
My family's religious craziness is why i was legit scared of the world ending back in 2012. Very paranoid and convinced that it would happen at some point. That's why I left my religion. Got tired of being scared.
Cool, first time hearing of them. If you like this music, check out Periphery at some point. Pretty close. I agree that was a great video! Good sesh, once again, fellas!

I saw Architects live way back in the day when they opened for Enter Shikari on the Flash Flood Of Colour tour. I have loved them ever since.
The song was written by their lead guitarist Tom who was battling cancer and knew his death was coming soon. The lyrics are his perspective on facing death. He died in 2016. He was the twin brother of the drummer Dan.

Sam Carter is the king of those pitched scream vocals. The song is about their bassist dying of Skin Cancer. The drummer was the bassist's brother.
