How To Avoid Finasteride Side Effects *Safest Protocol

  • I took finasteride back in 2007, fifteen years ago when I was at the ripe age of twenty-two. I took 1.25 mg daily for a few months and developed the dreaded side effects. I have not taken finasteride since my sexual health was more important, but now that topical finasteride is more easily accessible, I will reconsider taking it.
    In my opinion, the best and safest protocol for finasteride is to take the topical version on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday split. I would avoid washing your hair the day of and after you apply the topical finasteride to ensure the drug absorbs on your scalp.
    If you cannot afford topical finasteride, take 0.2 mg of the oral finasteride again on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday split. You do not need to take finasteride daily. The half-life is 3-5 days, so you can use it every other day. Furthermore, 0.2 mg is effective for therapeutic use to treat genetic hair loss. You do not need to take 1 mg daily, as prescribed.

      Good point. Setting yourself up for success is also a good idea when starting the drug. If someone starts it and they’re obese they should probably lose weight first because body fat produces a large percentage of estrogen in the body and that causes negative feedback, lowering testosterone. Maybe get blood work to make sure T isn’t low before starting the drug too. But that’s not that necessary. But the losing weight part I think is. Many people start the drug in bad states of health and wonder why they are so nervous when starting it, etc.

    Finasteride treatment impairs biosynthesis and function of neurosteroids, which are critical regulators of central (CNS) as well as peripheral nervous system functions and modulate a host of neurotransmitter receptors, such as gamma amino butyric acid receptors. Thus, finasteride-induced neuroendocrine disruption of biosynthesis of critical signaling molecules results in pathophysiological states, which contribute to inhibition of biochemical pathways responsible for a host of physiological functions, ranging from sexual activity, mood, and cognition. In addition, finasteride-induced epigenetic changes in gene expression, including upregulation of androgen receptors (AR), increased histone acetylation, and methylation results in undesirable biological outcomes such as impairment of dopaminergic signaling and modulation of other neurotransmitter receptors, may be the underlying mechanism causing persistent or permanent adverse effects, manifested in anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation

    • @thehylander266
      @thehylander266 2 года назад +1

      I don’t think it’s been overlooked the last 20 years. It’s just that people were taking it before the internet was very popular and once internet became more popularly, people posting about side effects when most of them were suffering from the no placebo effect caused an increase in more people having the no placebo effect. If this were mostly really we would have seen the same amount of people reporting it before Teheran internet. Finasteride was around a long time and back then got barely heard anything about it if at all. And even then, even if all the comments about side effects online were real (which they aren’t), then they only would give the impression that it was more common because you have the few percent who got side effects all online posting about it which gives a very concentrated amount of people complaining about it, giving the false impression that it’s a lot of people when it’s just echoed and concentrated.

    And believe me... I am a person who has been doing everything possible for ten years, including a hair transplant (once), but for a satisfactory result I need more grafts..
    I know...if I start this drug I will keep the existing hair for a few years (and get some hair back that is not depleted by DHT)

      Dr. Hasson has sent me his clinical trial information. Xyon hasn’t released it to the public yet, but will at the end of June. So far, they have the highest concentration with the same amount of systemic reduction. Their trials show a systemic reduction of 30% consistent with the same from topical formulas that have 0.05%. Furthermore, the gel application is patented that creates a mesh to trap the active ingredient to the scalp, while reducing the amount that absorbs in the body. From my research this is by far the most advanced formula. I would imagine even using it twice a week would yield some good results.

    I bought 5 mg pills and I'm currently taking 1.25 mg (the pill cut in four) two times a week. Any advice on how to make it even more safe? I haven't noticed any side effect but I've been taking them for only two months

      Take them Monday, Wednesday and Friday, instead of daily

      The safest and working method is taking 0.5 mg every other day. Finasteride is cheap anyway, don't risk the poor results for saving a few bucks.

      Interesting. I thought 1mg MWF was the way to go but I'm getting sides so might half my dose.

    DHT barely if at all plays any role in sexual function. It is a common misconception that people think it does, but it doesn’t. T and E does, mainly. DHT is not systemically active like T and is only active in the tissues wherein it is produced in small amounts, like scalp, prostate, etc. There have been extensive studies done in this. DHT is mainly used for fetal genital development, etc., and is not really used much by the body into adulthood, and causes many issues over time, which includes baldness, enlarged prostate, prostrate cancer, and possibly even heart disease.

      This is anecdotal but I was on oral fin for 3 years, ran out during the pandemic and after ~3weeks my sex drive came back to life. Had no idea how much it had affected it over the years. Won't be going back on 5-ari's until they have developed a delivery system that keeps it local.
