How To Avoid Finasteride Side Effects *Safest Protocol
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 окт 2024
- I took finasteride back in 2007, fifteen years ago when I was at the ripe age of twenty-two. I took 1.25 mg daily for a few months and developed the dreaded side effects. I have not taken finasteride since my sexual health was more important, but now that topical finasteride is more easily accessible, I will reconsider taking it.
In my opinion, the best and safest protocol for finasteride is to take the topical version on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday split. I would avoid washing your hair the day of and after you apply the topical finasteride to ensure the drug absorbs on your scalp.
If you cannot afford topical finasteride, take 0.2 mg of the oral finasteride again on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday split. You do not need to take finasteride daily. The half-life is 3-5 days, so you can use it every other day. Furthermore, 0.2 mg is effective for therapeutic use to treat genetic hair loss. You do not need to take 1 mg daily, as prescribed.

0.5mg a day for me has no sides.Cheaper too. Also, not thinking about sides and just getting on with it really helps.
That’s great 🙌🏼
Good point. Setting yourself up for success is also a good idea when starting the drug. If someone starts it and they’re obese they should probably lose weight first because body fat produces a large percentage of estrogen in the body and that causes negative feedback, lowering testosterone. Maybe get blood work to make sure T isn’t low before starting the drug too. But that’s not that necessary. But the losing weight part I think is. Many people start the drug in bad states of health and wonder why they are so nervous when starting it, etc.
How long have you been on fin
@@EBO47 just over 1 year
@Joe service any side effects at all I'm not talking about like the dudes that say they want to die or have a limp wiener ...I'm asking about any normal side effects like the brain fog or a slight loss in libido or watery jizz
Melvin, you’re smart brother and thank you for all of the genuine advice from your channel. I’m a huge fan. Please keep making videos

Finasteride treatment impairs biosynthesis and function of neurosteroids, which are critical regulators of central (CNS) as well as peripheral nervous system functions and modulate a host of neurotransmitter receptors, such as gamma amino butyric acid receptors. Thus, finasteride-induced neuroendocrine disruption of biosynthesis of critical signaling molecules results in pathophysiological states, which contribute to inhibition of biochemical pathways responsible for a host of physiological functions, ranging from sexual activity, mood, and cognition. In addition, finasteride-induced epigenetic changes in gene expression, including upregulation of androgen receptors (AR), increased histone acetylation, and methylation results in undesirable biological outcomes such as impairment of dopaminergic signaling and modulation of other neurotransmitter receptors, may be the underlying mechanism causing persistent or permanent adverse effects, manifested in anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation
can you talk in english please ;)
what are you trying to say here?
@@Silent_Control he said -- go on take finasteride
bro have you ever had problems with your sleep while using finasteride? ive been having a bad insomnia since i started to use finasteride.
Did your sides go away?
Have magnesium baths a few times per week. Magical.
I thought the half life is 30days in scalp, 6 hrs in bloodstream?
1ml of 0.01% topical finasteride daily works well. I do that 5 days per week. And the side effects are minimised. I combine that with 5% minoxidil. 0.25% topical fin is far too strong and not worth the side effects.
Hey Melvin thanks for the video, question, if we are on step 3 and know we want to have a transplant, should we start using fanasteride before or after surgery. Any benefits of starting before surgery? Thanks
Use it at least 12 months before surgery
In my own experience, finding the lowest working dose is a great idea! Feels like it's been overlooked the past 20 years.
I agree completely, taking it daily is unnecessary.
I don’t think it’s been overlooked the last 20 years. It’s just that people were taking it before the internet was very popular and once internet became more popularly, people posting about side effects when most of them were suffering from the no placebo effect caused an increase in more people having the no placebo effect. If this were mostly really we would have seen the same amount of people reporting it before Teheran internet. Finasteride was around a long time and back then got barely heard anything about it if at all. And even then, even if all the comments about side effects online were real (which they aren’t), then they only would give the impression that it was more common because you have the few percent who got side effects all online posting about it which gives a very concentrated amount of people complaining about it, giving the false impression that it’s a lot of people when it’s just echoed and concentrated.
@@thehylander266 My statement was that the strategy of finding the lowest working dose of finasteride appears to have been mostly overlooked over the past 20 years. I read your post and I don't see how it correlates to my statement. Side effects exist with or without the internet and most people's approach was to either take the staus quo dose or get off completely. cheers
@@archive807
My comment was guided at the OP with regards to the 20 year comment, not you.
Of course side effects exist with or without the internet, but the internet gives a very skewed view because of the concentration of comments and placebo effect, which was it the case when the drug first came out.
Topical give you side effects if you are predisposed just like oral does. I got all sides like gynecomastia, tinnitus, erectile disfunction, insomnia, brain fog, dry skin, anxiety, depression and etc! All from 0,25 topical finasteride daily for 14 days.
Used for 14 days and I'm 6 months off the drug. Still affected!
@@IgrwOw I've been on topical dutasteride for 6 months now, no side effects.

i have one question, what do you think are the cons of skipping medication and getting a HT? I am 30 yrs old with diffuse thinning on basically every part of my hair except for the horseshoe area. it feels like i will lose that hair anyway, so assuming these hair are gone and getting a HT directly looks logical to me. what would. you recommend? thanks again !

greetings, what concentration of topical finasteride should i use? 0.025%?
I use Xyon 2.5%
Hey Melvin. An excellent topic (once again). Yes it’s finding that balance with topical Finasteride that lowers DHT levels while keeping side effects at bay. Hopefully we are getting closer to using a non systemic treatment. Dr Hasson certainly shows promise. Thanks for sharing!
I think Hassons formula is definitely the best thing we have in terms of efficacy and safety
@@HairTransplantNetwork when will dr hasson release his version of fin?
Hi, im 34 a norwood 6.5 and just had a H T... same as you finasteride gave me really bad symptoms so i cant touch it again. The clinic told me to get onto saw palmetto because it works in the same manner... when looking into it i found the side effects are pretty much the same!! I honestly dont want to try any oral hormone blockers so i was wondering why the clinic tells you to get it? As far as i can tell the newly transplanted hairs dont have the dht receptors therefor arent affected... its doing my head in wondering what to do
Have your side effects gone away? If yes, how long did it take?
No side effects from the saw palmetto
Hi rob from the day i got my transplant done it was obvious vera clinic are full of shit and dont care what your outcome is... they are nothing but a hair mill and i should have paid the extra and gone with a reputable clinic in my own country. Trouble with turkey and vera is they try spread your grafts back too far over your head... has left me with a balding thin look... zero effort and hardly any hairs on the frontal area.. i have zero good things to say about Vera and now need to get it repaired elsewhere. Dissapointed entirely.
@@michaelljiljak5926 how long did it take for the original side effects from finasteride to go away ? What do you take now ?
They tell you to get on fin after HT because more hair grafts will survive in the period of recovery
I have side effects even with topical finasteride
How much ml of topical finasteride should I use? Bc if you have a concentration of 1 mg per ml then I think 1 mg is not enough to cover all balding areas. I think if you use a concentration of 0.2 mg per ml then you could use 5 ml of solution to use 1 mg and that would allowe you to cover all balding areas.
Hey Malvin, thank you fir the advice. It's ok using topical finasteride and minoxidil 5%? Both the same day? Or I should do it differently?

Question. If I apply topical fin in an MWF split and avoid washing my hair the day of and after I apply the topical fin, when does the washing of the hair happen? I can only wash my hair In the mornings of MWF and Saturday or Sunday? Maybe I understood incorrectly. Thanks!
Bro What is recommended dosage For cut it off in 4 pieces? did you cut 4 pieces from 1Mg or 5mg?
The 1mg. So you end up with 4 0m25mg pills

Almost just as effective as 1mg

Thank you! Could you please advise? You say not to wash your hair the day you use fenostride. And if I only use topical fenostride (I don’t use oral fenostride at all), can I apply it before bed and wash my hair in the morning, and so on every day? or is it not effective?
Hey, Melvin! Do you think using it topically once a week would be effective? And what would be the percentage? Cheers!
Once a week is better than nothing, but not as effective

Finasteride's half life is 7 hours.
Yes but it stays bound to tissues for 4-5 days. So even if it clears out your blood in a few hours it continues to keep scalp DHT reduced for days
Finastride block 5 alpha Reducatase not dht directly
😂😂😂 5 alpha is the one which helps to produce DHT
I've been following you for a long time, I've watched most of your videos several times! Thanks for your analysis and advice!
I have a question that is bothering me..
"Finasteride has long been linked to high-grade prostate cancer", what is your opinion ? This is very scary.. and I think this is very disturbing..
That's the only thing stopping me from trying medication.
And believe me... I am a person who has been doing everything possible for ten years, including a hair transplant (once), but for a satisfactory result I need more grafts..
I know...if I start this drug I will keep the existing hair for a few years (and get some hair back that is not depleted by DHT)
High-grade prostate cancer ? This is biggest question.
What is your opinion.

He literally said “apply topical spray once per day, and do not wash hair the day of.” This dude didn’t wash his hair for a year😂😂💀
Lol I meant apply it once per day, as opposed to twice a day as recommended for minoxidil. Don’t wash your hair the day you apply it. I didn’t say use it daily.
have you used RU in the past ? whats your take on it
I used RU in the past, it gave me sides. Plus, it can have negative effects on the heart. Definitely not worth it.
Well it definitely worked for me with zero sides. It’s not only DHT you have to worry about. Testosterone in the scalp will also eat your hair. A topical anti-androgen like RU is a MUST!

Good afternoon. I apologize for bothering you with questions again. But I would like to know the following.
Since my Dr said to increase the dose of medication (Minoxidil and Finasteride Oral). About 2/3 weeks later I started to notice more hair loss ( shedding ). I know it's common and normal. The issue is that at the beginning I saw more small hairs and few big ones in the hand. And there are about 2 or 3 days that are big hairs that I see on the hand. Is it normal after a month to still be shedding and now mostly hair longer? I'm trying not to panic but it's not easy...
It’s normal to experience some shedding in the beginning. That’s a sign it’s working, as long as you don’t experience side effects stay with it!
@@HairTransplantNetwork Ok. Ty
Bro don't lie
Man bro is it me or idk as soon as I apply the topical finasteride(lowest dose) within less then 30 minutes ill feel a little bit of side effects im thinking about stopping finasteride all together
Honestly I'd say if finnasteride is to extreme in side effects which many would say ...go with minoxidil,Nizoral, essential oil mix and dermanator/ derma rolling......now since you say you feel it in 30min I'm thinking it might be your head playing tricks because the people who've had crazy side effects usually said after like a week not 30min

Which topical finasteride is best?
Based on my research Xyonhealth
I am transparent about everything I do, if I were being paid to promote it, I would definitely say it.
Dr. Hasson has sent me his clinical trial information. Xyon hasn’t released it to the public yet, but will at the end of June. So far, they have the highest concentration with the same amount of systemic reduction. Their trials show a systemic reduction of 30% consistent with the same from topical formulas that have 0.05%. Furthermore, the gel application is patented that creates a mesh to trap the active ingredient to the scalp, while reducing the amount that absorbs in the body. From my research this is by far the most advanced formula. I would imagine even using it twice a week would yield some good results.

Take them Monday, Wednesday and Friday, instead of daily
The safest and working method is taking 0.5 mg every other day. Finasteride is cheap anyway, don't risk the poor results for saving a few bucks.
Interesting. I thought 1mg MWF was the way to go but I'm getting sides so might half my dose.
DHT barely if at all plays any role in sexual function. It is a common misconception that people think it does, but it doesn’t. T and E does, mainly. DHT is not systemically active like T and is only active in the tissues wherein it is produced in small amounts, like scalp, prostate, etc. There have been extensive studies done in this. DHT is mainly used for fetal genital development, etc., and is not really used much by the body into adulthood, and causes many issues over time, which includes baldness, enlarged prostate, prostrate cancer, and possibly even heart disease.
So you think every man should take finasteride?
just curious, which medical school or PhD program did you attend?
@@arturoaguilera241 Most men go bald or lose a significant amount of their hair so it wouldn’t hurt most men to take it.
@@johna3564 When did I say I attended a medical school? I am simply stating what the established science is on the matter.
This is anecdotal but I was on oral fin for 3 years, ran out during the pandemic and after ~3weeks my sex drive came back to life. Had no idea how much it had affected it over the years. Won't be going back on 5-ari's until they have developed a delivery system that keeps it local.
