I really like this floating desk concept, the cable management and the hovering PC with no restrictive airflow to the bottom fans is the icing on the cake... great job!
I'm just hoping he didn't make the ones against the wall the intake cause if so those thermals are going to be painful. Personally would've moved it over a couple inches to let air pass through either way.
Nah. See through gaming PC with lights looks like a kids toy. The rest of the setup is decent. Except he is using a wannabe Apple copycat keyboard too. And the floating desk while great would have been really nice in Acacia.
7:45 That position is perfect as the cables can run directly through the top of the table top and not to mention its great for airflow as well, not intaking dust and carpet debris. Your projects are very well thought out.
I’ve watched a lot of set up videos and I think that this is my favourite. Love the clean minimalist design and as a contractor myself, this has given me a lot of inspiration! The only thing I’d maybe change and this is really knit picking would be to mount the speakers on the wall but it’s a lot of work making cable pass throughs etc. just to gain you a few extra inches of desk space
I really like your work. Great ideas. Thank you for sharing this. It really helps deciding on what I need for all my electronics. I am curious as to how you attached the usb slots on the front.
I just subscribed today. I love your craftsmanship and videos. Lots of comments here, and I did not read through them all. I just wanted mention that you called the TV a Sony. You do show the correct product (Samsung) in your description, so all good. I just thought I would mention it. I am an Audio/Video Systems Integrator in Silicon Valley/Northern California and spend most of my days wiring residential (...and some commercial) technologies. I really like what you did with this desk. I cannot stand it when electricians put outlets at standard height (around 15" off the floor) under a desk, so the wire mess is always visible. Nice work. I look forward to seeing more of your work and watching more of your videos. Everything is very well though out.
This is amazing. I love the way you clearly lay out the rationale before going into the actual how-to. One thing I would suggest changing is the speaker position. The optimal position is wall-mounted at ear height.
Haha, this is nuts. I found part 2 a couple of hours ago. I rarely comment and subscribe, but I thought.. I need to see part 3. So I did. And now, you uploaded. It must be a sign since I'm moving into my first apartment in a few weeks where this will be very useful :) Great vid Ryan!
I really like the floating desk also your color scheme, if I can make an suggestion if you paint the white apron with a black accent it will tell a nice story with you monitors since the monitors boarders are black.
you should replace your dumb switches with lutron caseta smart switches! a nice final touch! your setup is nice! question. can you wire an outlet under a desk like that is that against code?
6:31: sweeeeet! Room for the roomba :) 10:50: centre spine chairs FTW, side hinged chairs don't last. Crazy idea but maybe a floating chair? 12:29: non-ergonomic keyboards may destroy your fingers and wrists over time. 12:45 ceiling speakers maybe? What's the cylinder light in the CPU, I don't see your SSD and there's no Drive listed in the description?
what a setup! so so nice. can i recommend one thing (from personal experience)? If you get "ISO pads" for your speakers (less than 20 dollars) to sit on, it will really, really transform your audio clarity and pleasantness. Sitting on the desk causes unpleasant resonance or whatever, that is mostly only noticeable once it is gone. My 17 euro ISO pads on Amazon also came with cable management adhesive buttons that are proving a lifesaver with regards my setup, and the sound quality has been transformed immensely.
Hello! Awesome SetUp, you should submit to setup wars or room tour project! For the chair, you should replace the wheels for roller blade wheels, the are not expensive and it will slide way more smmoth on the carpet!
What USB extenders are you using? In the process of moving my desk around and those are the exact configuration I need but can't seem to find them. Specifically the media card hub.
I can appreciate that you redid things. I had to fix something in my office area, and in the process of putting everything back together, I realized a wall I didn't work on was way out of plumb, and I'm on the fence should I tear everything apart to fix it, or just deal with it.
What would I do next? Call it a day and play 18! I just caught up on the desk and the monitor video. Looking forward to seeing your other vids soon! I am going to be finishing my basement at some point this year to move my office down there. Love the ideas, and golf hats! Thanks for your videos.
Yuuup I need me a hanging pc now. That cake is frosted for sure. DIY closet organizer? Yes sir. This whole build got my wallet trembling, I've been wanting to put my bed on stilts with a custom desk underneath for me pc.
Love the setup! Wire management is key! Enjoy the info you give on the lighting. That’s a really nice PC case, and I like the way you worked out side the box, and hung it from the desk... I would have never thought of doing something like that. When you have a perfectly good case, why drill holes. It’s got me thinking about my next adventure with a gaming desk, PC build, and all the stuff that goes on with it. Great job! Yes do a video on your closet!
If you can you should get a full desk mouse pad so it covers the hole desk and buy the white mountain background for it and it will be the best and cleanest office setup
My suggestions: 1) get yourself some stands for your speakers (referred to as 'monitors' in a recording studio) or consider wall mounting those either side of the TV 2) Remove that bottom white 'foot'/bezel from the PC if it's going to remain hang-mounted 3) Mount a surface pop-up box for USB ports/SD card ports. The stuff mounted to the underside of the desk edge would probably drive me (personally) nuts. 4) Mount a Qi wireless charging pad underneath the desk and have a "zone" on the desktop for charging a device
Amazing job on this setup, really clean and simple look. I would personally mount the speakers to either the carbon wall or each side of the white walls if possible to complete the floating look theme.
Hanging your PC is the right choice. You don't want tiny fibers from your carpet floor getting sucked into your PC. However, your PC looks a bit slanted down. Using a pair of heavy-duty drawer slides attached to the top surface of the case could work nicely and would give you easy access to the IO at the back.
This is so cool! I would have gone with a larger TV and the USB hubs look like you'd bump them or the things plugged into them with your arm or chair. But overall, amazing setup.
I would add two more Phillips hue bars behind your monitors but pointing towards the ceiling. It seems dark/unbalanced there. Really good clean look for your workspace. Mine is incredibly messy right now and your setup makes me want to re organize and clean it up!
I'd love to see you curate the acoustics in that room. Off to a great start with those speakers, but there are so many bare, flat walls that bounce sound around, especially doing recording it is very noticeable and harsh. A bookshelf, some hanging fabrics, I like to use heavy curtains if there are windows or even big tapestries. If you want to stick with the minimal aesthetic you can get sound absorbing panels to hang on the walls. I like when I walk in to my office and it sounds like walking outside after a snowfall; quiet. Don't need to go full recording studio but a little care towards acoustics goes a long way!
did u ever consider cutting out the wall and seating ur speakers flush into it and laying some nice trim work around the speaker even a small rectangular led strip
Love the update. Is anyone else curious about the video that was being shown on the 32" TV during this? I have an office remodel project and a landscaping french drain project that have been on my list for too long.
Was scrolling through youtube searching for some inspiration for my floating L-shaped desk that I'm planning to build and came across your video series. I love what you have done and the cable management! Has definitely given me some ideas. A few items I don't see listed in your description are the extenders for the Microphone/Headphone jacks, USB hub, and the Storage Device hub. Would it be possible for you to link those? I've been trying to find similar, but have not had a ton of luck! :) Thanks so much, and wonderful set-up again. It looks awesome!
Hello! your setup is really good, really. I really wanted to do the same with my monitors, but here in Brazil we don't use drywall, so it's a little harder to do this "flloating" aspect. I like the real minimal look that your setup have, looks very good to daily use. And please, post the closet videos too!
odd request but what about like a foot resting spot? so getting rid of the bottom outlet and creating a square cutout in the wall for a foot rest and then that also eliminates the one weird outlet under the desk as well as adds depth below the desk
Hope on your next part you treat the echo... you will sound so much better with some art that is actually acoustic panels... And remember that speakers will sound much nicer at hear level and pointing exactly to them... give same space from the wall so base don’t get trapped
Hi mate, great video. Just wondering where you got that cool wallpaper for your computer screens. Would appreciate if you could provide the link. Thanks, Craig
Love the video and what you've done with the space! You may contemplate adding a tiny mixing board somewhere (hidden?) that allows you to feed more audio sources to those speakers simultaneously (and control the levels of each independently). It might be overly complicated for your setup, but if you ever get into adding any gaming systems, or even connecting a tablet/phone then being able to listen to audio from more than one source at a time is super nice. (TV audio, computer audio, phone audio, etc)

Very well done. I'm all about cable management/hiding. There are no wires showing on my home theater setup. There are ALMOST no wires showing for my computer setup, but I've been a bit lazy in that regard. This video, and the previous 2 concerning the desk build and the monitor mounting/cable management just reaffirmed my need to complete my desk build. I've been wanting to do one for a while, and I think I'll finally get to it. I toyed with the idea of a floating desk, but hadn't really decided 100% on it, or not. But now I think I will do it. Nice workspace! Might be overkill since you don't really see the underside of the desk, but I would paint the desk framing the same carbonite color to truly make it disappear. I would also try to match that bottom outlet with the carbonite color of the wall too if possible. Adding some wall art is too subjective upon your personal tastes and preferences, but I would consider looking into "acoustic panel" wall art to complement the minimalistic aesthetic you have going. Lastly, I agree with another comment made about incorporating a wireless Qi charger to the desktop.

A custom closet organizer is something we wanna watch
Thanks we may have to make that happen
@@ThatTechTeacher427 Can't wait!

I actually worry about the dust intake in the PC being that close to the carpet and having intake fans on the bottom, but it looks amazing

As an electronic engineer with a Masters Degree, I can confirm that RGB is equal to more FPS.

This is the cleanest sharp look I've seen. Some great ideas. The Buckeye helmet in the 1st part was a nice touch.

Great idea!!

You should wall mount the speakers. Either on the side wall or next to the TV.
Your cable management game is strong. Love the lag bolt hanging system for your PC... may have to steal that idea.
This is amazing. I love the way you clearly lay out the rationale before going into the actual how-to. One thing I would suggest changing is the speaker position. The optimal position is wall-mounted at ear height.

Great setup! Can you please add links to description for the extender components you mounted on front of your desk? Thank you!
