    I wanted to share my experience with the Truth Treatments Serum, I know it's about 70% THD and it's non irritating in my opinion. There are 20-25% coupons that I always use when buying it. One bottle lasts me about 10 months, it's super concentrated so I mix 3 drops with a HA serum every morning. It's an amazing cocktail and I feel like it's the only vitamin C serum that made a big difference with my hyperpigmentation. I previously used the Drunk Elephant one but TT is another level!

      Having used Timeless for years and just recently started using TT THD for a few weeks now, no comparison..the difference is huge. I agree with you, you have to look at the % and the length of time it lasts..the small size, which I got on sale (they seem to run specials frequently) will last me a very long time. Kinda hooked.😅

      I am also seeing a difference with the TT vit C and I've only been using it for 3 weeks. The only other product that helped with brightening was the Peter thomas Roth vit C and he uses THD too, but 20%. It didn't really help my spots and melasma though. I am starting to see some improvement on spots and melasma with the TT, so I will, of course, continue and I will also start the retinol now. Fingers crossed!

    From what I've read THD does convert into Ascorbic Acid. I prefer THD over the surface C's. I like that THD is less irritating and is a stable C. I suppose its a matter of preference. I know this, my skin looks less sun damaged from using a form of C. Hugs, Cassie

    Truth Treatments is my holy grail, also you can find discount codes to get almost $50 off. Used to use Timeless & it did absolutely nothing so I learned my lesson. You should probably listen to one of Dr Benjamin Fuchs videos because he explains TT in complete detail. The Serum is 80% & the balm is 70% potency with no extra fillers, just the delivery system. Transformed my skin. Sometimes paying a bit more for quality skincare is worth it in the long run.

    Hi Angie oh the "medical grade" skincare debacle drives me insane. I was a Registered Nurse for around 20 years including several in the Maxillofacial (head and neck) Unit. Medical grade skincare is on prescription ONLY and is either ingredients not available over the counter or higher percentages of ingredients only available on prescription from a DOCTOR. Hugely expensive 10% niacinamide is the same thing as cheap 10% niacinamide for example. For me tretinoin, hydroquinone and high strength azelaic acid are medical grade skincare - not some fancy peptide serum.
    As for vitamin c I agree that if possible L ascorbic acid is the way to go, however I'm one of those who can't tolerate it on their skin. I have mild type one rosacea and eczema so anything really acidic doesn't suit me including vit c, glycolic etc. The only acid I can actually use is azelaic acid. i get my antioxidants from green tea, niacinamide, licorice, tretinoin etc etc etc. I have managed to use some of the derivatives without the burning/stinging I get with the low ph of the l ascorbic acid. I would never pay $200 for a derivative (or to be honest any skincare item), but there is another product I have seen with this ingredient - Garden of Wisdom sells a C deep serum which in the UK is £18 (I can't imagine it's more than $25). i hope that helps anyone who has been considering this pricey item. Some of the youtube beauty community seem to push products outwith the reach of most people, which is very irresponsible. More often than not it's about brand names and/or products that are "gifted" to them. Best wishes.

      I feel you Loraine however the TT Vitamin C Balm is The Bomb!!! I realize Angie is talking about the serum which i have also used and may try again. I purchase and will continue to buy the 15ml size and it will last for months! I use it at night and only need a little pea size. It literally has 4 ingredients with the first one being Vitamin C in THD. I also cant use the Ascorbic Acid as it really irritates my skin. My opinion, never say never and try TT sample size for $50. Thanks Angie for all of your research!!!

    I’ve used L Ascorbic Acid for decades including Timeless. I have sensitive rosacea skin. It was always slightly irritating. I tried the TruthTreatments THD and my skin never has looked this good. No irritation- no worries about mixing with my other actives- no oxidizing-my skin glows- is less reactive and is more hydrated. I use the pea size recommended with a mineral mist so it spreads easily. I tried other THD but unfortunately I broke out from other ingredients in the serum. I purchased at 30% off and the bottle lasted one year. More than my other Vitamin C’s but not by much considering the results. Of course anecdotal but I don’t regret spending money on this. One thing I’ve learned on my skin journey is to not listen to any gurus- our skin reacts differently and has different needs.

      Totally agree with you. The 5 ml TT bottle lasted 3 months when I bought it so it's a good investment. You pay a lot for the big bottle but it can last you ages since you only use 2 to 3 drops mixed with a mist. No irritation and you can use It around your eyes. The only drawback is that you have to mix it with their mist..which makes the final product more expensive as you run out of it much more quickly than the serum itself.

    Angie, you make a good case for L-Ascorbic Acid and I do agree with some of the points you raised. However........ First off, you can't know whether a product works or doesn't work without trying it for an appropriate length of time. You have therefore not approached us with a balanced, well informed opinion. You are purely guessing that it may not work but can't actually say for sure. The proof especially with skincare is in the trying; that's the only way to know for sure.
    Ben Fuchs is a chemist, compound formulator, nutritionist and a very well respected scientist with over 30 years of experience under his belt. I've watched quite a few of his videos and I'm inclined to believe he knows what he's talking about. His products are expensive but the results are phenomenal! Regarding conversion of THD; retinol converts into retinoic acid so why would THD not convert into ascorbic acid with consistent use. As you said ascorbic acid is very unstable and can be very irritating too. I had zero luck with the ones I've tried. If you have not, please watch a few Ben Fuchs videos and decide for yourself whether you think his products will be a crap shoot! I have enormous respect for Kylie and how well she's done but I'm not sure she's spent much time in the laboratory!

    You're not entirely accurate. This is straight from my friend who is a biochemist for cosme-ceutical companies... And I've used the Timeless C Serum, Drunk Elephant, Skin Ceuticals, Mad Hippie, Ordinary, Paula's Choice, Maelove, Ole Henricksen (2 versions, truth serum and banana bright) and most recently, Beautycounter's.
    Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is a more stable, oxidation-resistant form of vitamin C, and is therefore more powerful at lower concentrations than ascorbic acid! When people ask about the “percent” of vitamin C, they often think higher is better; not the case with this form. In fact, high concentrations of the parent form, L-Ascorbic Acid, have a huge trade-off: they can be irritating to the skin. Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is effective at lower concentrations, and less potential for irritation.
    It’s lipid-soluble, so its effects are deeper and longer-lasting in the skin, which is made of lipids! It actually penetrates the skin, THEN converts to L-ascorbic acid, a much better delivery system.
    Because of this, it can do 3 things:
    1. Serves as an antioxidant (this helps prevent wrinkles/aging) … camu camu and turmeric enhance this activity
    2. Fades discoloration by normalizing your skin’s production of melanin.
    3. Boosts collagen production - most vitamin C serums with ascorbic acid do the bulk of their work as an antioxidant.
    Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate can also boost collagen production because it penetrates more deeply.
    Bis glyceryl ascorbate is ascorbic acid bound to glycerine, which adds moisture-retention power to the antioxidant properties of vitamin C. Many vitamin C serums, especially higher % AA, can be irritating or cause problems for dry skin. Bisglyceryl ascorbate should help make this serum appropriate for all skin types, including dry!

      @Dee LOL Yes, vitamin c can be an all or nothing product. Either you can tell it's working or it's wasting time - I feel. Personally, my top three favorites have been the Drunk Elephant C Firma (however, this is in an oil base and sometimes I can't use it (like summertime...too heavy) also Drunk Elephant oxidizes REALLY quick for me. Next, I like the new Ole Henricksen Banana Bright C Serum... but honestly, I'm not sure if it's the Vitamin C or the fact that they included PHA in the formula to help exfoliate and brighten, so hmmm. And finally, Beautycounter's. I've really enjoyed the texture and results from this formula - so much so, that I find myself feeling more comfortable with a Tinted Moisturizer over a foundation lately (which, if you watch my channel... I'm a big foundation wearer). I felt NO RESULTS from Timeless, Maelove, Mad Hippie and the Glossier one. I saw results with Skin Ceuticals but nothing worth that price tag. Hope that helps!

      @Dee Hi, I was reading through comments and saw yours and I wanted to give you some information, or really my opinion. Quite frankly I have tried cheap skincare and I have used medical grade and I have seen the difference in results. My skin looks way better when I am using medical grade skincare products. Also, I have used all forms of vitamin c, and the tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate has been done the most for me and i have seen the best results with it as well, that is not to say that ascorbic acid has not done good things for me, but just that serums with tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate have been better for my skin. Also, I 100% love truth treatments, it is that good. I live in the desert so I don't really use the hyaluronic acid often, but it is wonderful. I have most of the truth treatment products and they are awesome. I also love revision skincare vitamin c. I am not sure how anyone can review a product they have never used.

    I love tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, L-ascorbic acid irritates the heck out of my skin so I won;t use it. So it may be great for some but makes my skin burn and makes it red, even at small percentages. So for me THD is the best for me and I have noticed a difference in my skin since I started using it.

    I've been using Vitamin C (have tried many - cheap and expensive, different forms ...) for several years. I now bump up the Timeless serum with a sprinkle of Versed ascorbic acid powder mixed in. Crazy-bad idea for most people but is working on my hardy skin. My face is bright and glowy and smooth. I use mineral sunscreen on top - EltaMD or Australian Gold or La Roche-Posay every single solitary day - even if I am not going outside. My skin is looking better every year.

    • @Weaver1202
      @Weaver1202 4 года назад +20

      swineinny1 It’s not Angies responsibility to do research for everyone’s different skin type. Knowing Vitamin C is an “acid”, it’s pretty common knowledge to make sure it’s right for YOUR skin. She shares what works for her- any “actives” are completely on you to decide if it’s right for YOU. Can’t put any blame on her. In fact, just about ANY product can be irritating, depending on one’s unique skin issues.

    Angie I love how you let everyone know how the skin care industry is so unregulated. Many skin care companies do not even label their ingredients correctly or fully.
    Vitamin C with L Ascorbic acid is exceptional ( we add gold so it doesn’t oxidize). THD is just Ascorbic acid. Neither bad nor good.
    However nothing will work on your skin if you don’t have a good antioxidant skin care regime.

      Forgive me I hit post before I was done.
      They say THD is more stable? Not sure I agree or disagree but I loved Angies explanation.
      As I said nothing will work if you don’t have a skin care regime based on antioxidants or what I call food for the skin. Or if you don’t take care of your skin from the inside out.
      Just another thought.

    Angie I wish you would try THD.
    I was ride or die Ascorbic Acid for YEARS. I'm a formulator and DIYed my own Ascorbic Acid serum for 2 years. For the past year and a half I've gone back to Timeless/Dr Brenner out of sheer laziness (I love formulating but DIYing Vitamin C doesn't exactly spark joy so I focus my formulation efforts on other products.) Suffice it to say, I've been using Ascorbic Acid every single day for 3.5 years.
    Recently I started using THD and I have noticed a positive difference in my skin.. just because research doesn't exist yet doesn't mean it won't in the future. The "no research = no efficacy" outlook is an oversimplification and also seems a bit reductionist to me. Ascorbic Acid wasn't researched until relatively recently..does that mean it wasn't effective before Dr. Pinnell and his team researched it? No. It just means the research didn't exist yet..

      @@lupeluis7041 it doesn't.. The Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is 20% THD and it's $17.
      The Truth Treatment Systems products are expensive because they are "medical grade" and supposedly use patented penetration/bioavailability technologies.
      As a raw ingredient, it's true that THD is more expensive than Ascorbic Acid. It's because it's more complicated to manufacture since a palmitate group is added to the Ascorbic Acid chemical structure. That's what makes it oil soluble. Oil solubility is what makes it have better bioavailability in the skin (our skin is made up of mostly lipids)

    • @AngieHotandFlashy
      @AngieHotandFlashy  4 года назад +6

      Hi Emma, I agree that no research doesn't mean no efficacy but given 2 products, one with a pile of independent research and one with only company research I give more weight to the one with more research. Also, curious if you mixed your own THD serum or if you bought one? xo ~a.

      @@AngieHotandFlashy thank you for responding and your perspective makes perfect sense. I just like to be a little more experimental in my approach to skincare, that's why I'm willing to take my chances with THD and other less researched ingredients. I'm actually using both Ascorbic Acid and THD right now.
      I'm using the Truth Treatment 5% Retinol Gel, alternating nights with Tretinoin. The 5% Retinol Gel contains 20% THD.
      But I am working on a THD formulation, I'm actually waiting for the ingredients to be delivered. It's going to be a THD "balm" meant to dupe the TTS Transdermal C Balm. It's mostly THD with Squalane (a penetration enhancer) and some thickeners (Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Emulsifying Wax NF.) 🙂

      English Rose not really true evidence wise. Linoelic acid actually helps skin barrier integrity, helps replace and organize skin barrier lipids, and improves hydration as a result while oleic acid has been shown to disrupt the skin barrier and increase water loss from the skin. Dry skin benefits from free fatty acids but particularly LA plus ceramides and cholesterol as well as an occlusive moisturizer and a low PH cream cleanser.

    Many reviewers and commenters complain about the "hot dog" smell of L-Ascorbic formulas. I have been using Timeless for almost a year. With the first bottle, there was no hot dog (HD) smell for the entire bottle. The second bottle came in the new pump and I noticed that HD smell on my hands right away. This smell lasts for hours...through washing dishes, covid hand obsessive washing etc. Husband could smell it too. I decided to apply the Timeless Serum using gloves. Results, no HD smell on the gloves or on my face. I find this EXTREMELY interesting. There may be some chemical reaction between the sweat or oils on my palms and the vitamin c formula. We will never know for sure but for me, wearing gloves is a great work-around.

    Hi there luv your reiviews I think they are very educational and informative. I did use the timeless vitamin c for 2 months and I have to say I wanted to luv it but I didnt see any brightening on my skin. So then I went with the truth treatment systems there vitamin c serum, there vitamin c balm and retinol gel and I must say in just 2 weeks I notice alot of brightening in my skin that I decided to stay with that brand. I know its pricey ladies but I think its worth every penny. And the best part it only has a few ingredients only what your skin needs, thats awesome. And besides you use a pea size of any of The Truth Treatment Systems products and it goes a long way beacause its very potent. So sorry that the timeless brand didnt do what I hace hoped for, but I guess it may do wonders on some people but on others it just wont. Nevertheless this was a wonderful review thank you for putting it out there for us gals. God Bless You.

    I’ve used the Truth Serum for 18 months now and if you’ve never used it, here’s some information regarding texture and other things. It’s labeled as a serum and my past experiences with serums have always been thinner in texture, watery or water based, and quickly absorbed into the skin. The Truth Treatment Serum is a fat-soluble vitamin C, meaning the serum is “oil” in texture. Although it has fatty acids & cholesterol to help with moisture...you may not like it if you have oily skin. With this serum, you’ll need to find the proper amount of drops to fit the needs of your skin. A little truly goes a long way otherwise you’ll look like a grease ball, and your makeup will cake. It took a couple of tries for me to not look greasy (and I have dry-combo skin). With this serum, they state you’ll get best results when used with their bio-mist. The bio-mist is something that’s more newly created and before the creation of their mist, they said to just use with water. I bought the mist when it first came out but didn’t see much difference so I went back to using my normal aloe facial mist. Hope this helped. Wishing you all the best and good health!

      YES, Angie, this was going to be My question...If we find a true L Ascorbic powder, is this just as great as the Timeless I use , thanks to You!??????? I wanted to make my own ever since the sweet lady, (my age) who makes her own. She's very popular in our age community. Kimberly, Pretty Over 50? Please let those of us who can really benefit from this much less costly choice. And, if I DO decide to continue on with Timeless, it will greatly help to use your $5 off discount. Every penny saved helps me to afford ALL the costly products we women use to remain Young looking!!! Including all the darned supplements i take every morning and the evening ones!!!!! Gosh, looking good is so expensive when you add it all up, and let's not forget all the clothing and shoes, handbags, jewelry, fragrance and on and on...And being a single lady for 30 years, this past May, I must buy all these things myself!!! I JUST recently forgot all about my Fav fragrance in the Universe, and thought I could not live any longer without it!!! It's better than Chanel's Gardenia!!! It is the old signature parfum by Michael Kors!!! I wore it til, I don't know when I stopped using it. But it is the #1 Fragrance of pure sheer glorious Gardenias. I'm from the south and we had Magnolias, Hydrangeas, and Gardenias all over our neighborhood. So, I can not get enough of it now, sorry I digress! Thanks again for all your hard work. It is so appreciated! And maybe I need something less, like the nurse, above wrote...I sting terribly each time I try to use my Vit C, and Niacinamide, Glycolic Acid, etc. What do I do???Does this mean I'm allergic or its too strong? Sorry to ask so much. MAny thanks!

    Hi Angie ,thank you for your video. My problem with ascorbic acid is that it irritates my skin a lot. I even got a dermatitis so now I have to use other forms of Vitamin C. Also, I think that every product with ascorbic acid is overpriced since, at least in Italy, you can go in a farmacy and buy ascorbic acid at a very low price. My skin has no problem with the stable form of vitamin C, the Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate. I don't understand why so few brands use Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, which is more pricey than ascorbic acid, but at least that justified the cost of the product.

    I’m sorry but I don’t agree in this one.
    I’ve bought the Truth Treatments C Serum and OMG... I’m seeing tremendous changes. Skin is soft, glowy, dark spots are fading. It is expensive but you literally use 3 drops for the face, more than enough (you need to buy the mineral mist thought)
    Also, I don’t have to worry about mixing my other skincare products. When I got the Timeless C, I got sensitivity and I was limited to not mix it with Azeleic acid and Niacinamide.
    With Truth Treatments you can safety. But truly I have been only using the C serum because it itself does a tremendous job.
    It took me time to understand that L Ascorbic Acid is so unstable that who truly knows how much benefits you are getting.

    • @luv2garden132
      @luv2garden132 4 года назад

      Azelaic acid is in my Curology formula which I use in the evening. I mix niacinamides with my moisturizer in the evening. I use vitamin c in the am. I don't find it difficult. Science is behind when the L-ascorbic degrades and when it absorbs and how effective it is. I would pay $199 for a pair of earrings. Not for 1 bottle of skincare. I'm glad you love it though!!

      That’s amazing to hear and good to know. So happy that it’s worked so well for you. I’m definitely looking forward to trying it as it arrives in the post today. How do you use the mist with the C by the way? I had used Skin Ceuticals for years then switched to Timeless and then to Dr Brenner’s which I refrigerate and have liked the most of all. I still use timeless on my body as it’s more cost effective. Thanks 😊

    • @angelia1034
      @angelia1034 4 года назад +1

      Panda1122 A
      The mist is a mineral mist that will enhance the penetration of the serum. You put 2 drops of the serum on your palm and sprays 2 of the mist; you’ll mix with your other palm and then put it on your face. You would need to massage for a bit. Your skin should not show any residue, if it does, you are using too much.
      Remember that the formulator (Ben Fuchs) is a pharmacist. He clearly says that his formulas work effectively and that you only need just enough of it.
      It is like an aspirin, you need the right dosage. Do not waste the product. It is well worth the $199. It will last months.
      Try the C balm for eyes, lips and for night time.

Thanks again and enjoy your day 😊

      There are many professional grade products marketed to esthetician’s as better then drugstore. Many are now available online such as Image, PCA, Dermalogica, Glymed, Skin Authority & more. I’ve been reading the ingredient decks w/ dismay b/c I thought they’d be so much better then store-bought. I’m not an expert chemist & still learning abt formulations but many of these companies are using regular basic ingredients & just hyping them as special b/c esthetician’s use them.
