@@carlstraughn8880Running doesn't mean being the beast.Alcaraz was well below the normal level in his last 3 hard court matches, including the match he won, but today the opponent also played extra well, yes.
@@carlstraughn8880 Yes he was fast and made a lot of gets but there was no inspiration in his shotmaking, he was just getting it back. I think he was really gone mentally, it's a surprise. Normally I don't like Alcaraz but even I felt a bit sorry for him, he looked shellshocked.
One of the big reasons why Carlos won Wimbledon final was his serve.. He service in the final was at its best of whatever i have seen of him till now... He needs to up his ante on his serve. I felt he has worked on it really well and has evolved. But after that he is back to his normal self. Serve is a big weapon and can give u a big booster at clutch moments.
All the media was hyped about sinner, Carlos, novak. Even they don't even hold pre tournament press conference with meddy ,zverev . Very happy to see These. They ignored meddy, zverev and what I was surprised was these USA players are doing pre tournament press conferences as they were going to win the tournament
If you are surprised US players acting on press conference like they are about to win tournament, don't forget they are U.S. players playing U.S. tournament. Domestic crowd has rights to expect them to perform better than outside U.S. It's part of the show. Look at hype in british media during Wimbledon. Playing or not, Andy Murray is always favorite to win it.
Botic plays a very old-fashioned style of tennis, long sweeps, approaches the net far more often than younger players might expect, aims to disrupt not be forcing another shot but by throwing haymakers into open spaces, sort of like Djokovic if he had the power of del Potro. An inspired performance, I'm not surprised to see Alcaraz struggling so much to figure him out, it's just like watching Federer trying to figure out Henman the first few times they played, where the world's best was comfortably dismantled!
Same comment is being used desperately to be recognised😅 Sinner and Alcaraz exposed Djokovic potential on court. There are upcoming upsets to face in this slam. Keep watching
I knew it the second I watched that warmup of Alcaraz on Monday. He was shanking overheads, dumping easy volleys in the net. Yeah, it was practice. But even the top pros don't practice that bad. Wasn't surprised he lost a set in the first round and knew going into this one it was going to be tough. Didn't think he'd get steamrolled though.
The difference in attitude was so clear this match, and Alcaraz needs to adjust his a little. The way he pointed to his ear to use the crowd when he won a big point at 4-3 in the third set, you could tell that he still fully expected to win when he was two sets down. After the recent Monfils loss, he did nothing but complain about his own play and failed to give his opponent any credit. Honestly, I think he deserves and needs a loss like this so that he’ll start respecting the level of his opponents more. Botic was sublime, and even though he has the game to beat anybody, he lacks confidence and needed a confidence-boosting win to break his run of poor form. His humility and calmness were impressive.
This is the beauty, and the reality of the US Open; you qualify... over the years, you gain experience.... you move up... and you beat the person that did the same thing, years before you. Carlos showed a lot of grace, even when losing, and Van De Zandschulp a lot of class as well. Bravo Gentlemen.
Alcaraz is still not over Olympic final... One thing is to lose in 5 sets, but he lost pretty much easily in second round. First round exit in Cincy as well. Shocking 😮😮😮😮
Botic recently came out public on his mental struggles, lost a lot of tennis battles against himself too, which was painful to watch. And annoying at times. This match only goes to show how HARD the tennis mental game is. Kudos Botic!
I'm Shocked at this result from Botic.defeating Alcaraz in Straight sets it goes to demonstrate how Open this Grand Slam in New York credit to him for the Victory Alcaraz would go and have a deserved Holiday he did have an amazing season winning 2 Grand Slams . Botic hope he can build on this win and go far in this tournament yeee
Let's give Botic credit, he played a great match. The lack of preparation for Carlos before US open affects him so, he couldn't enter the tournament with confidence and he hasn't had this experience to handle this rapid change between clay and hard courts.
The intensity of Botic celebrating his victory was outstanding. Ripping the shirt apart like Novak, Jumping like Nadal and crying like Federer. Did he just walked slowly to the chair with no reaction?
Just a reality check. Reminds me of Nadal's encounter with Rosol / Brown and Djokovic's with Chung. Made them stay humble and helped keep feet on the ground on their way to achieve greatness.
You are completely wrong wrt to djokovic. In 2017 and 2018 seasons, djokovic was dealing with an elbow injury for which he got the surgery done, so he was quite average in those seasons and gradually improved to his peak in second half of 2018 season. And nadal was always least favorite at wimbledon post the 2011 final. Rosol, kyrgios, brown and steve darcis : all these guys beat nadal pretty comfortably at wimbledon well before R4 matches, all of these guys were not even in top 100 at the time if i am not wrong....
thanks@@Tennis-critic..and comments-critic, I feel humbled too 😉I loved Djokovic vs Chung match though. I felt Chung matched Djokovic's rhythm and tempo all the way with the right amount of luck needed to get over that day, not that Djokovic played bad.
Patterns are emerging. These young players are unable to keep the momentum throughout the year. Carlos goes into a shell when things don't go his way and starts to play very erratically. He can't get out of that frustrated hole. We saw similar behaviour at that year's AO against Zverev. And Sinner can't keep up his physical abilities when pushed for more than 3 sets. Saw that against Alcaraz and Meddy this year. But both have time, lots of it. Things can only improve.
VdZ is a serious talent. Piledriver ground strokes and great serve. Seemed like he was going to get to the top but then there was that real choke in that match where he had all the match points (can't remember against whom... Monfils, maybe?) I said to myself that was a defeat that could really set him back irretrievably mentally. Great to see him play a solid, powerful match here.

Alcaraz is the “closest” thing they can get to Nadal. But he got a long way to go. All the talks that he can achieve more than anybody is too early to tell. Let’s see how the body holds in the long run.
Amongst this bunch, its almost already determined, Alcaraz and Sinner will rule. When these two are the right frame of mind and very focused, they are better than the competition - and this is true with Novak still around. Someone else will have to come along to make me change my mind.

Gotta see the extended highlights to know what really happened here. But looks like the dude has big weapons and he stood on a tree while Alcaraz underestimated his opponent. That’s the thing about guys in the top 100, if they play a full match at their best they can beat anyone.
@@got2bjosh tactics is one part of this but the style matchup is also another big part. A guy with big weapons like this that plays a clutch match with very few unforced errors can beat anyone. @@Biwo-by3hqI think it’s one of those things that comes with experience. He’ll learn as he gets older imo
What a humble guy Botic is! 🙏
1:55 Botic after creating an upset - 🙂✌️
He is the epitome of a guy just doing his day job
Introverts rise up!! 😐
It's because it was an easy win. Alcaraz played really really bad.
He's like Jokic of NBA
pretty sure he didn't know how to react due to how everyone expected alca to win
Insane tennis from Botic. Keep in mind he faced so many injuries making him doubting to retire tennis after losing the fun in it. Big respect to come back like this!
Lol he was planning on retiring because of too many losses and no progress. Not injuries. Its a miracle he even won this match.
@@JohnWick-zq8ud If miracles exist, imagine wasting one on a tennis game in a world so in need of help. Imo, the player with the better tactics won the game; the one who couldn't adjust or prevent the winner from commanding the net, lost
VanZan is smooth as silk! Congrats bro!
Botic was in a bad mental period, he said that was losing his passion in tennis, i hope that this great win will unlock his confidence and passion, for me this is a sign from the destiny. He has a great talent.
Botic was thinking about retirement only a couple months ago after a year of bad results, so happy he's turning it around!
No screaming "COME ON', no chest pounding, no tearing your shirt off, no "hanging up the ph", no index finger to the ear, just great tennis from a class act!! What a performance!!
Or he doesnt do anything because he doesnt really believe in himself. Nothing wrong with showing emotion you stiff.
Well, he’s clearly not American 😂

A masterclass in net game
Carlos wasn't at his best, sure
.. but straight sets in a slam against Carlos is unreal
Carlos wasn't at his best? He was running all over the court to get returns in..his opponent was jus much better on the night ,even the commentary was all about alcarez. And he was getting pound into the court.if carlos r sinner had done that to djokovic it wud have read djokovic is finished
@@carlstraughn8880Running doesn't mean being the beast.Alcaraz was well below the normal level in his last 3 hard court matches, including the match he won, but today the opponent also played extra well, yes.
Maybe Botic also wasn t at his best
@@carlstraughn8880 Yes he was fast and made a lot of gets but there was no inspiration in his shotmaking, he was just getting it back. I think he was really gone mentally, it's a surprise. Normally I don't like Alcaraz but even I felt a bit sorry for him, he looked shellshocked.
So refreshing to see his célébration !
personality of a rock
Always plays like he doesn't Care, love it!
Alcaraz underestimated this guy, hitting between the leg shots in the first set and learn a valuable lesson the hard way.
Novak was nesting an injury
LET'S GO BOTIC!!!🇳🇱💪💪🔥🔥
All the media was hyped about sinner, Carlos, novak. Even they don't even hold pre tournament press conference with meddy ,zverev . Very happy to see These. They ignored meddy, zverev and what I was surprised was these USA players are doing pre tournament press conferences as they were going to win the tournament
Meddy: can focus to the final😁😁😁😁
what hype about novak anyway? of course, meddy is doing meddy's thing. octopus all the way
that's why we want an underdog to win. Zverev is a contender.
Because meddy and Zverev just aren't anywhere near the lever of Novak Sinner and Alcaraz
I love how Botic giving that Kobe job not finished mentality. I hope he can go ahead and win the tournament. He seems very humble.
Always knew Botic had the game, just struggles with closing out the match. Once he gets his mental game together, he can be a formidable opponent.
Wat een wedstrijd. Van Harte gefeliciteerd jongen Van de Zandschulp. Geweldig
Second Gen going and we are still looking for someone to be as consistent as even one of the three, once in a century, GOATs
You see the score here and think 'what on earth happened to Alcaraz'. You then watch these highlights and think 'what on earth has happened to Botic'!
He still can't recover from the Olympics.Novak reset Alcaraz to factory settings.
Same comment is being used desperately to be recognised😅 Sinner and Alcaraz exposed Djokovic potential on court. There are upcoming upsets to face in this slam. Keep watching
👌
Didnt Alcaraz beat Djokovic in Roland Garros? 💀 yall dont even try to make sense anymore lol
Same things being said after Cincinnati last year and what happened next? He won 2 GS and an Olympic medal back to back to back
@@futurehofer1564 No, he beat him at Wimbledon but not at Roland Garros.
How old is Zandschulp🤔
His skills looking so smooth 👌
Wish him best of luck for the tournament 😊

In the time it took to ask that question, you could look it up on this thing called a search engine. Just saying.
Djokovic broke Alcaraz mentally with that Olympics win thats crazy.
Maybe but that doesn't mean that Botic played very well.
Botic really played fire 🔥. Deserves a place in top 10 rankings right now .
Wimbledon is currently not as fast as it used to be. Both AO/USO are faster
Botic looks annoyed that he has to play next round lol
Finally, the extraordinary streak of Carlos Alcaraz comes to an end ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Some people just have so much class and grace in victory!!
Even Alcaraz can learn from him.
Hopefully Botic is back in the top20 soon! Proud of him 👍
I've always liked Van De
I'm glad he got the win and hope for further success in the tournament
You got to give some acknowledgement to VDZ to who played superb.
4 GS and need what ? 10 weeks to be ready for a GS
Why is it people always look for excuses and explanations instead of recognizing that the line between the top players is very fine?
Please would you guys post this full match! The tennis world deserves it! Thank you!!!
@@Tennis-critic Novax-stans have the most excuses in the world. He never has lost to anybody when being healthy 😂
Things can only improve.
maybe they won't improve, and these two have perhaps peaked. lots of players ... eg. Thiem.
_A veces es preciso un despacito para reconocer los errores, refletirlos y seguir adelante. Força, Carlitos. Congrats, Zandschulp!_
*Amplexos de Recife, Brasil.*
In hard courts he is as close as Nadal. Only the absence of Djokovic made him USO Champion in 2022
@@menon_ji4984 Bingo!
he will never achieve what federer has, Nole is too much manhood for him to emulate!

Gotta see the extended highlights to know what really happened here. But looks like the dude has big weapons and he stood on a tree while Alcaraz underestimated his opponent. That’s the thing about guys in the top 100, if they play a full match at their best they can beat anyone.
Full match will be posted. I already wrote how Botic did it: rush, pin, stretch, & move.
@@got2bjosh tactics is one part of this but the style matchup is also another big part. A guy with big weapons like this that plays a clutch match with very few unforced errors can beat anyone. Add the fact that Alcaraz looked way too relaxed and didn’t take it to him right away, and you have this result.
A bit of humble pie for Alcaraz! Great job by van de Zandschulp! Loved it!

He needs to stop imagining that tennis is a circus and focusing on winning strategies rather than showing off.

And I wasn't too far off when I said in my comments that I thought Carlos might lose against Draper because his head is not in the right place at the moment.
Part of watching the tournament is to be surprised. I love upsets!
I am also one who thinks Carlos needed this loss to get his motivation back. He likes to be the underdog. I bet you if he had been expected to lose against Djokovic at the Olympics he probably would have won. He doesn't seem to enjoy the pressure of expectations. He hates routine and lacks the motivation to train and sense of enjoyment when it becomes too routine, as he explained in a recent interview.
