Tres Ojos National Park | 10000 Years Old Cave Lakes in Santo Domingo | Dominican Republic Travel

There are 10,000 years old cave lakes in Tres Ojos National Park or the Three Eyes National Park, just a 10-minute ride from the bustling Zona Colonial of Santo Domingo. There are 3 lakes, where the 'Three Eyes' name comes from. Also, there is another lake, which is only reachable by a short boat ride on Lake No. 3. The lakes have a turquoise color due to the presence of calcium and minerals.
The place was used by the original inhabitants of the Hispaniola island - the Taíno people. The series of caves are now preserved and can be accessed by stairs. It can be a nice couple of hours of exploration, within Santo Domingo.
