The beaches around Puerto Plata/Playa Dorada and the north end of the island in general rarely ever get Sargasm seaweed that tends to affect other parts of the Caribbean. This is due to the direction of the tide. Generally speaking, the waters around the island of the Dominican Republic are not as crystal clear and turquoise as you would find in other areas in the Caribbean such as Barbados, Caymen Islands, Virgin Islands, etc.
Sargassum is currently very low on the north coast of the Dominican Republic so Puerto Plata is not affected in the same way as southern destinations like Punta Cana.

There are tour companies in Puerto Plata that will book your tickets and some will pick you up directly from your hotel and take you to the facility. Or, you can book directly with OceanWorld and take a taxi to the park. Our best advice is to Google OceanWorld and contact them directly or any of the "reputable" tour companies that are listed.

Yes, Puerto Plata has its own airport called "Gregorio Luperón International Airport". Its airport code is POP.
Flying into puerto plata is so easy. Probably the most simple experience at any airport ever.
