I love how Dad did not deny Darwin's feeling about being scared, but gently encouraged him to try a bit more. That is huge for a developing little boy. Great work, Dad!
I can’t tell you how much I enjoy these videos. They feel like the old videos because you’re back on the water, with a crew, adventuring to new places. But they feel new because of the filming, editing, the kids (I mean c’mon - their personalities are everything), and just the wealth of knowledge you have as sailors. Hats off to SLV - I’ve loved following along on your journey!
I’m not one to comment on RUclips, but I find myself constantly thanking you guys for these long, unfiltered videos! My husband and I watch these every week like date night! They are so relaxing and enjoyable to watch!
Physician here: realize you have likely already dealt with the rib pain. You may have something as simple as a disarticulated rib which can be fixed with manual manipulation. Best wishes in dealing with this issue.
You are correct. The only way to tell is with X rays. Anyway you look at it, both are painful as all hell. If she is lucky? It will just be a rib, popped out of place! Get an adjustment and feel better in a couple of days! If it is cracked ribs? Bloody F'n painful for up to a couple of weeks, depending on if Elayna can bring herself to NOT pickup her boys. They can sit on mommy's lap. But they must be careful of mommy's ribs! Cracked ribs SUCK! I speak from multiple experiences with them! I hate it when you feel someone stabs you with a knife in the ribs if you take too big of a breath in! So, No lifting and small breaths Elayna! Minimum one week. Or they will never get healed up. Wrapping your ribs really doesn't help! Only recovery? Time, taking it easy for a week or two. You can still do easy leg exercises. Just don't make yourself breathe too deeply! Believe me, YOU WILL KNOW, when you have done wrong!!! The pain will slow you down! Heal quickly young lady! Wish you all safe sailing ⛵️! Until next episode! Riley, you lost your biggest helper for at least a week, mate! Take care of her!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
i had a couple of broken and bruised ribs... what she is discribing sounds more like a rib where the soft tissue connecting the rib to the sternum ripped ... had that once and it is the most anoying and painful/uncompfortable thing ever. ... pain goes down kind of gradualy and its not as bad as laughing with a bruised rib... but it takes for ever until it is stable again. ... just, well, you learn to not move in ways that moves the rib and cut back on a lot of fun things and eventually it will disappear. whish you all the best... be carefull with skiing and don't go snowboarding... getting up from your bumm will hurt a lot when contracting your abs.
I am so IMPRESSED by how the boys handle being at sea! I’d love to hear more from them during the video’s… Especially Lenny seems like such an observant and thoughtful young man… Of course both Lenny and Darwin have great parents! 😊
Darwin's Food Review❣ OMG, I'm so sorry for Elayna's re-injury !! I can't believe she's finally got to the place she's dreamed of sailing to for years and years and now this?? I love you Elayna and hope you're well soon in upcoming videos. Geez :(
These two wee boys are the luckiest kids ever growing up on the Sea You can see how clever they both are, Nothing like HANDS ON Learning BEST EVER....I bet by 10 they will know how everything works & steer the La Vagabone their swimming ability is out the gate My daughter grew up on the Sea but only fishing not sailing She is also very clever at the helm your boys are like little encyclopedias travelling to all different places, all parts of the world all different stories ❤❤❤❤
Even the MERE sensation of a developing cough/sneeze while recovering from broken ribs is, in itself, enough to ignite TERRIFYING PTSD. I know. I'm currently recovering from 3 broken ribs -- 6 weeks in and still instinctively, immediately hand-bracing my injured ribs upon such occurrences. Blessings to you for a successful recovery.
Only people who do nothing, never make mistakes or get injured. When you are living an adventurous and active life, mistakes such as dropped ropes and injuries will be inevitable. You just do your best to minimize risks and make the best decisions you can at each moment with the information you have available to you or what you have to work with. A full and busy life with young children means you are pulled often in different directions and that's without sailing a majestic vessel at the same time. Love the video guys, Godspeed and God bless you and yours always.
I just love how consistent you guys are with your videos. Every time I pop on RUclips there’s a new one and I’ve become slightly addicted to watching sailing La vagabond. I guess it’s because I want to escape and do new things but I’m afraid at almost 60 years old to do it! Thanks for inviting us into your lives with those two precious babies too a life experience they have how profound.
Poor Elayna! 😢 Wishing you a very fast recovery & healing dear.🙏🏼❤️ Videos are great as usual and love to follow your journeys. Congrats to have made it to Japan.🎉 My little brother is stationed there with the U. S. Navy in Okinawa. Sending you guys much love & blessings always.❤
Thanks for making this videos. I find myself laughing out loud over Riley and Kai arguing about the caught sheet. Then just seeing the boys always brings a smile. You are all a fun group of people to watch and I love the adventures and the knowledge you share as well. I hope to see these videos go for at least another decade or two. ❤
See the difference in kids raised this way as opposed to traditional living. They learn so much more. A city kid that young would never jump in the ocean like these two kids did. I really enjoy these videos. Safe travels.
Oh my god how adorable with the fish plus your production with the animations, I really love that extra afford for us viewers. Thanks for taking us along.
I don’t think tough even scratches the surface. What you have gone through to get there and now this injury and still going! I wish you a fast recovery.
Lived on Okinawa for first and second grade….best memories of my childhood…exploring hilltown villages still full of elders suspicious of white Americans, active whale stations, silkworm factories, memorials from the war, geishas in downtown areas, spending night with native woman eating authentic food sleeping on tatami mats, visiting glass blowing factories….my father was military and we had a lot of freedom as little kids to go out and about on buses even alone…it was safe. I was happy there.
*WooHoo Japan…congrats LVB!* Loved the Avatar animation, boy’s cute interactions, and appreciate all that you put into these videos. Can’t wait to see every detail about this Japanese sailing adventure. Oh man Elayna, hope you get better soon! 🩻💙
Proud of you both for following your hearts and sharing them with the world! You live to inspire and are true heroes to the grater good! It’s great to see you guys just being yourselves! Thank you for that! Keep Flying! May the wind be with you! 🌬️
I'm glad you reached Japan without meeting bad weather because it's practically Typhoon Season in that part of the Pacific Ocean. There's been two typhoons even passing thru the small islands near Okinawa before slamming Shanghai. Anyway, good healing on Aleana's ribs, l pray they're not broken. See you guys next week.
I'm so glad you made it to Japan. Have had broken ribs before. Very painful. Get well and take it easy. I am praying for a fast recovery. Love you all.
What an amazing sail and incredible journey! So happy for you all! Hope Riley saw my comment about his Thyroid on your last post- thyroid issue are no joke! And Elayna your ribs symptoms sound broken to me- just an EMT here but I’ve had that before myself- also looked like a classic sign as you laid on your back and that area was protruding a bit, mine did the same, I hope not and hope I’m wrong but it can take up to 6 weeks to heal! Hopefully with pain meds and rest you’re better to sail in a cpl weeks!!! RILEY- get your TSH & T3/4 levels checked!! lol!! Ok- enough of nurse Nancy.. 😂..thanks for sharing and hope you can have a great time while there! -the boys are growing up so much, they have no idea how blessed they are yet- but one day will appreciate this time so much!!! What an amazing experience! Much love! Stay safe! ❤
Elayna, hoping you are feeling better and just bruised. Hate to see your trip of a lifetime altered! Thanks for sharing your beautiful family and exciting journey.
Ouch I have cracked a rib a long painful healing process. Will be praying and willing a quick painless recovery. This too will pass. Your babies are divine. Boy on a good note. You are living the dream girl. lol.
That's a shame you had to waste all of that food, but so far your experience in Okinawa is a good one. Elayna, I hope and pray they can wrap your ribs for you and get you some pain meds. Feel better soon girl! Love you all ❤️~ Jo in Michigan USA
Absolutely loved this one. Especially the kids swimming with Riley on the deep ocean, Darwin with his new dead pet fish, and the amazing feeling of watching you guys arriving to Japan 😊. Safe travels mates. Keep them coming ❤
The boat both excites and frightens me, the sheer amount of speed that boat can reach is absolutely incredible. Exhilarating for you guys great content thanks for this.
Seeing the boys enjoy the harmonica, I can highly recommend a melodica. They can get a feel for how a piano keyboard is setup, play around with melodies and in general the instrument is a load of fun. Also is a LOT smaller than your average piano, so definitely a great choice for sailboat equipment ;-)
Elayna I so hope your rib is much better than when you shot the video. I must say that it remains as beautiful as before your injury. My wife and I have been married 41 years and every time we go on vacay or take a holiday anywhere for any duration, she gets sick. She's been sick in some of the coolest places on the planet. It's a little annoying. Sometimes I just leave her in our hotel room to recover while I explore on my own. She always recovers within a day or two.
Rib injures hurt so bad, and it takes forever to bounce back i hope you feel better sooner rather than later, and um Riley, your history lesson was pretty good thank you so much for sharing your lives with us
My oldest son is planning a month long trip to Japan to celebrate graduating from college and seeing these videos of Japan is really exciting, imagining him enjoying the beauty of that country. ❤ Broken ribs are horrible, husband broke three on a fall. Sleep upright and try not to sneeze. 😆 Hope you’re feeling better soon!

I hope you are fine, Elayna!! Sending happy and healing thoughts from Florida USA.
I just noticed Elena is sporting too short poodles at 9 minutes. 19 seconds in the video. She's all natural
should've let lennie take another swim with dad and darwin... he looks like a sad oldest son...oldest needs more
@@ke4uyp Hahahaha!! She IS!! Good eye!
I love how Dad did not deny Darwin's feeling about being scared, but gently encouraged him to try a bit more. That is huge for a developing little boy. Great work, Dad!

As I have.
Great comment.

How is it that after all these years your videos just keep getting better and better??? Can't describe how excited I am for Japan.
Lenny is such a sensitive soul, can see it when the camera is on him. Been following you for years. The best sailing channel 😊
I am so IMPRESSED by how the boys handle being at sea! I’d love to hear more from them during the video’s… Especially Lenny seems like such an observant and thoughtful young man… Of course both Lenny and Darwin have great parents! 😊
I love Dr. Lenny's diagnostic skills. He's great.
Recently fractured my rib took 6 weeks to heal enough to roll over at night without pain. Get a good cotton wrap to keep it in position.
I’m wishing for a quick recovery. So sorry for the pain you’re in. All the best.
The boys are starting to add so much humor to your channel.
Darwin's Food Review❣ OMG, I'm so sorry for Elayna's re-injury !! I can't believe she's finally got to the place she's dreamed of sailing to for years and years and now this?? I love you Elayna and hope you're well soon in upcoming videos. Geez :(
How is nobody talking about Lenny's food review. That's the cutest thing ever!
Truly. Crack me up. When I saw that I knew I had to comment but I'm glad you did.
Yes more food reviews please

Dear Elayna, sending you prayers for an elegant recovery.
Get well soon Alayna !
Must say you have the clearest pictures and videos with the brightest colors showing such details..love love love it!
What a fantastic sail..!! I LOVED the last shift with the light show of thunderstorms in the far distance. And the early light of the eastern sky.💕⛵️💕
I feel so blessed that these sailors are sharing their journey. This is some of the best content on YT
See the difference in kids raised this way as opposed to traditional living. They learn so much more. A city kid that young would never jump in the ocean like these two kids did. I really enjoy these videos. Safe travels.

I lived in Okinawa for four years as a US Marine wife and loved every second! Hoping to see glimpses of something I remember but it's been so long!

Get well Eliana! Yes, you are tough. Take care all of you
I have cracked ribs multiple times. Very painful and you can only rest and let them heal. Doctors cannot wrap them. Wishing you the best as you heal.
