Wow. Can you imagine getting tickets to see “Whose line is it anyway?” And then finding out at the last minute that Robin Williams was a special guest star? Talk about jackpot.
My group of four were the last people admitted to this particular taping, not knowing (no one in line knew) that Robin was the special guest. Everyone went absolutely wild when they announced it. Half of the material generated during that taping ended up being edited out - pure gold. One skit that didn't make it to air was a scene where Robin and Ryan were Siegfried and Roy waking up to realize they were late to their show. Robin and Ryan started the scene lying down on the floor spooning. Then Robin/Siegfried "wakes" up distressed and states, "I had the worst nightmare! I dreamt I was surrounded by... pus***!" (You can figure why that didn't make it to air.)
Absolutely not.... he outshone everyone there lol! He's amazing, I love that guy (RIP) If he was a permanent fixture on that show we would still have him.. and that show would be SOOOO much more popular than it already is! Add Robin and the market value goes through the roof!
This was taped the same day I literally ran into Robin Williams on a Delta flight out of LA. We had a layover in Houston and as I was getting off the plane, I was looking down so not to fall, Robin was late getting out of 1st class, I ran right into him. He was so nice. He held my arm and led me off the plane. What a sweetheart. I miss him so.
Oh what I wouldn't give to have a memory like that of Robin. And I'm not the least bit surprised that he was such a kind hearted gentleman and led you off the plane like that. He's one of those people that only comes around once every so many years, and you just know they're one of a kind....gentle and compassionate and kind and genuinely good hearted. So much so that all that happen to see or know or come across them can tell right away how special and unique they are. Don't mind me. Just drooling over his awesomeness. Your comment made me smile. Confirmed my belief of exactly what kind of a man he was.
The coolest moment like that I have is meeting the frontman of a band (idr the band anymore cus my memory went to trash, I'm sorry) and once he found out I was 16 he tried getting the venue changed to one that allowed minors. Called his agent and everything, but they couldn't get it changed. Got his autograph on a poster somewhere still and there's a photo of us too (he was over a foot taller than me though lmao) and have fought to keep that poster in good condition. Just a super cool moment I'm happy to have had.
Ryan, Colin, Wayne, and Drew are all comedic geniuses and it looks like they could barely keep up with Robin Williams. A true comedic mastermind. He will be missed.
Honestly on this show in particular, I feel like the opposite was true. They all fit in there a little better than he did, but he seemed really capable to adapt and managed to catch up with them. Still, everyone was great that day.
Yeah they’re all really good at what they do. It takes such a witty mind to be able to perform as easily as they make it seem. I remember never changing the channel if I happened to forget that this show was coming on next. Always entertaining.
Had tix to his show 2004. Nosebleed seats. Was amazed at this: he was one man...he filled the ENTIRE SPACE. No break for 3 hours 20 minutes. He was so fast that I got maybe 60% of what he was saying. Comedy assault.
RIP Robin :( Wayne Brady actually opened up a few years ago about his depression as well. More people need to be aware of mental health issues and seek the help they need.
Robin WIlliams didnæt just have depression though. He was also suffering from a very serious non-treatable and rare form of Alzheimers. Loosing your mind must be incredibly scary...
Adelachaudh, he actually was recently diagnosed with dementia, as the comment above mentioned. So yeah, guess he wanted to end it before things got ugly for him which is sad 😞
Unique Yeah it is..but it's also understable to not want to get sick and worse and loose yourself you know? I mean it's allways sad when someone don't want to be here any longer regardless.
Robin Williams was a great man and a brilliant comedian. Very few comedians could think up funny stuff on the spot like he could and his range of voice play was off the scale. He continues to be terribly missed by so many people. Miss yeah Robin, R.I.P.
Not to join in on the mourn march here but I remember watching this specific episode with my dad (who passed a while back). I remember more of how much I laughed at this episode. It surprises me a little even to this day how much energy that short guy had in him. It's not just his voice work it's the emotion and fun behind it. He's one of those comedians who really put a lot of passion in his work and one of few actors who did genuine good to the world beyond the laughter too. Despite me being only 18 it's a little daunting to think I'll grow old one day and there wont be these amazing actors and comedians that I recall.
Well said. I really liked Robin Williams in these following movies that i have at my house: Hook, Aladdin, The Return of Jafar (Voiced as Genie in both movies), Mrs. Doubtfire, and Jumanji. What a great actor.
Brandon Waters Oh my god I feel ashamed to forget Jumanji! Damn that was such a good film. It was a little out of his work beyond the scene of him just coming back from the game but his humor with the cop was fantastic!
It’s amazing that he only did this once yet from his performance you’d think he’d been doing it for years. It’s both amazing and hilarious it’s a shame he never did more than one episode. May he Rest In Peace
"I have a career, what the hell am I doing?" You made very good use of your talent to make people happy and keep them in stitches, Mr. Williams. And for that, you will be missed, but you shall also be remembered, respected and loved for a long, long time. Thank you for having been around and having done your thing.
Robin's mind must have never slowed down. He was funny all the time. Such energy. Still miss him, was hoping he would have still been in movies for many years more.
Good one :( still makes me sad to think regardless of what happened, a man with such amazing talent was so down the last bit of his life! But this comment was very much needed thank you :)
I loved this, so hard to believe he is gone. RIP Robin Williams, a very funny man that brought laughter and smiles to people, both young and old with your super cosmic comedic talent
What I love about this is that he is truly in the spirit of improv. Improv is all about going with the flow, going along with the lead of another person's joke to create humor. Even though Robin was a huge actor, he still went with that idea in mind. If someone else began a skit, he would go along with it, rather than taking over because he believed his jokes to be better because of his fame. It is very telling, and shows just how much of a real actor he truly was.

Out of all guest stars on Whose Line, Robin Williams by far my favorite guest star on Whose Line is it anyway. And he really fit right in perfectly on the show and love the interaction he had with Drew and the others.
Robin Williams is n always will be one of my GREATEST INSPIRATIONS OF ALL TIME!!! My heart goes out to his family n all of us who loved him n his work!!! Peace to the Fallen!!!
Pretty much every moment of his on this episode was classic, however two things that I loved, which are absent in this video, were his gospel air traffic controller duet with Wayne ("you have the feeling, and the spirit... and a clearance to land!") and right after the first commercial break he snuck up behind Drew's desk and scared the crap out of him, haha.

It's humbling sometimes...When you realize that the people you idolize are also just people...People who are going through perhaps similar pains to you. Genie, I'll miss you.
I had always wanted to meet Robin. I have been a fan of his since childhood.
It's a shame Robin didn't do more appearances on WHOSE LINE. The format allowed him to go full-tilt in the way most of his movies didn't.
A man could have cut loose and be happy. It could have saved him.
Doing Whose Line allowed Robin to go back to Mork and Mindy days where he did whatever he felt like and the cameras followed him.

My favorite line in this entire video is:
"I have a career, what the hell am I doing?"
I suspect that might have been the real Robin talking
"I have a career, what the hell am I doing?"
