ding ding ding ding. 100%. i learned this in art class in the early 2000s. there are also now seemingly two major eras of it. 50s/60s retrofuturism and 80s/90s retrofuturism. the aesthetics are also remembered on the half decade in hindsight. 45-55,55-65, 65-75,75-85, 85-95, 95-05, 05-15, after the advent of social media this breaks down because novelty breaks down and everyone just copies whats trending.
You may need a few run throughs of this song, haha SOAD stuff goes multi layers. This HAS to be on everyones playlist. especially in the car! haha

My very intro to SOAD was their performing this on Conan O'Brien... I was like "WTFFFF I need more of whatever the heck this is", and I've loved them ever since. You should check that out! It's as beautiful as it is terrifying lol
I love the guitar in this.
This band is alien, I'm sure don't be scared by their originality.
I'd say this song is all about dreams, and the video does a great job of portraying that. And yeah, it's definitely got a big Tool feel, both in the sound and visuals, although once you realize dreams are the theme, it all makes a lot more sense.
It's a very underrated song from them that only in the past couple years has been getting reaction videos from.
Serj's final acream is so phenomenal and the guitar solo is just great as it is.

There's also retrofuturism. Not sure that's what she was going for but it's one of my favorite styles of 'futuristic'. Then again she did mention Fallout and that is definitely retrofuturism.

The line about the V Chip is eerie. Serj Tankian was a software developer as a day job and the line about V Chips and the concept of "spiders" are about microchips... (IC chips look like spiders) Specifically the V Chip, which blocks TV content based on ratings categories. Basically the chips that set your TV to where your kids can only watch "approved" programming.
Pretty beautiful song for being about governmental agencies deciding what your kids can see and think and feel

The subtitles were pretty spot on. The lyrics are strange, but thats because Serj writes metaphors for his metaphors.
She actually did start to catch on to the plot during the ending.... This song is about microchips. And tech companies working with government agencies to control media and such. The V Chip is a program used in North America mostly that is essentially a chip in your TV set that controls what programming you see based on ratings (the whole E for Educational thing you see on the kids shows on the weekends). This song is about a little girl that doesn't have thoughts or feelings of her own because she's been given them already - think Rachel in Blade Runner.... Literally turning people into replicants
"All her dreams are MADE, winding through her hair" -- the thoughts and dreams running around her head aren't even hers. They're MADE for her. Creepy song, but very beautiful also

I dislike that you start your videos off with a pre-recorded segment from after your having already seen the video.
It throws one for a loop when you click on a first time reaction video and immediately the video starts with you having already seen the video.
You can just shoot an intro with you not having seen the video.
