    OK, so now I will be on the hunt for itty bitty plastic bottles for an itty bitty bead roller. That was pure genius, and as was mentioned below, a MacGyver invention! Well done!

    Heres a trick. Get your blow dryer and heat up the bottle for a minute or so then it will cut like butter. It will also allow you to fiddle with the shape of the roller. I'm going to make some rollers these for the kinetic sandbox in the classroom. Good coordinatio and fine motor task for the kiddos. The volume is a bit low, maybe a mic would help.
    Very interesting video. Your dogs are right, something magical is happening out there.

    I just now discovered you and your homemade bead roller. This has given me so much hope for a better future learning how to craft. I am almost 70 and I live in my car with my emotional support animal. I am going to go to storage and pull out all my beads I purchased from Fire Mountain Gems. This will give me something to do while waiting for a subsidized apt to open. I love you and your video. I love Fire Mountain Gems!

    Someone probably already suggested this, but I'm not gonna read all the comments to find out. ill just risk being redundant for a good cause! 😁 Put the conditioned clay and glitter in a plastic baggy, seal it, squeezing out the air💨, and mush with your hands (if the roller doesn't work through the bag) until it's all grabbed up by the clay. No more glitter flying through the air, or a lot less, anyway. 😎 I love that, now I have something to do with all the glitter I've hoarded as a scrapbooker. Hmmm, now I need lots of clay. 😂 Ty for your tutorials and the peeks at your precious pup!💕💟💤 just love her.

    @TurtleSoupBeads There actually is rhyme and reason to the plastics that your polymer clay will eat through! I know you probably know this by now, but this is great for new polymer clay crafters! Do a search on RUclips for "What plastics are ok to use with polymer clay" and you will see a tutorial done by PolymerClayTutor on "How To Test Which Plastics Are Safe With Polymer Clay". Excellent video for polymer clay crafters!!

    • @TurtleSoupBeads
      @TurtleSoupBeads  5 лет назад

      But that's for plastics that will have prolonged contact with the clay

    • @badhairdaylady
      @badhairdaylady 5 лет назад

      @@TurtleSoupBeads Yes but in knowing what plastics will not be good to have in contact with the polymer clay, you can just choose a bottle that has one of those 'safe' numbers in which to make your bead roller (which I love!) and that way if you have to walk away for a while, you know it's not going to melt by the time you get back to it! Most plastics have that coding system and it's a good guide! I recently found a piece a polymer clay that had eaten through the plastic leg on the bottom of a floor fan!

    What I do when I get a glitter with different sizes in it is that I get different sized shifting strainers (dollar store) and shift then until I get the different size separated. Also I made from plastic storage containers different fines sifter by poking holes on each lid with different size needles. You only need one containers and the rest of them are just lids. I also made the same for sorting my pearls (they tend to get mixed together when I'm beading. )

Much cheaper to make your own clear oval shaped "gem" than to buy them! I've been doing them by hand with plastic bag & my fingers & they NEVER come out uniform, EVER! This may remedy my issue

    To incorporate glitter a little easier through the clay, I suggest rolling your clay through the pasta machine until it is thinner and longer, and then jelly-roll your glitter inside the clay before working it with the rolling pin. Having more and thinner layers of clay to get through will just speed up the glitter getting absorbed.

      @Marialla. 2 года назад +1

      @@shannongrills7455 The OP literally hearted my comment, and said it was a good idea.
      The reason for not using the pasta machine was that it wouldn't work if used the same way she was doing it with a roller, by folding a large heap of glitter in at once. The technique I suggested was to first roll the clay out thin, then scatter the glitter more thinly across a larger area, then spiral-roll it up inside so that there was no large/slippery wad of glitter left to cause "unicorn farts" as she called them.

      Me too! I drive my hubby crazy stopping the car to move them out of the road , even the snappers . I can bear the thought of them getting run over . I used to make lots of turtle beads that's how I got that name eventually I will have a tutorial on turtle beads .
