Lane 4 flipped FYI. The slipped occurred under the water on the start with his feet so it’s hard to see. He comes up a body length behind everyone else on the start
A similar thing just happened to me at d3 ncaas in 100 fly final except I was like three body lengths behind and only caught up enough to get 7th
@@emmapritchett6898 lucky to have a D3 swimming legend in the comment section
Lane 4 or 5?
@@damienthomas8541 4
i couldnt even tell 😂
*Me, who knows exactly where to look because of the comments but STILL can’t see the slip wondering how every person in the crowd noticed it immediately:*
no literally im searching for it
Notice how all swimmers push off the wall and surface at a certain level, then like a meter or so behind everyone is the guy who ends up winning the race
Bro I feel you I can’t find him
@@eniotna_379 lane 4! it took me a while too since it’s on video. in person, it’d be a lot easier to notice tho
(he’s the one who goes into breakout strokes the soonest because of that
@@duhneez2068 That looked more like a bad jump than a slip to me
this man really took "no excuses" to heart
Yes, yes he did
Shit went through his muscles.
he took it personally
As a swimmer I can be impressed
He's too powerful...They had to nerf him so he didn't win by an even larger margin
one like away from 69 darn i need a gf
hes also in 9TH GRADE
@@niclampert yes
Yeah like when Dash joined the track team.
As a swimmer- I’m very tiny for my age, backstroke starts are harder for me because of this. I’m always scared of slipping! This is just impressive!
same here lol, I’ve slipped a few times and it genuinely sucks, luckily it was in practice not an event or else I’d be screwed xd
one time in practice like right before the actual matches, some kid decided 2 swim underneath me and kicked me in the leg which stopped me from being able 2 participate.
BRU smaller is easier for back starts
@@ItsZeqL well I guess I wouldn’t know because I have never been tall lol
I’m only 5’7 full grown but I’m beefy lol
Non swimmers will never know how insanely hard this is; slipping off the start in the final and starting a body behind everyone, but this is when two choices appear, and he chose to not give up
Swimming is so beta
it doesn't look hard to me if apparently this is a video of someone who manages to overcome it
so easy 🙄
For those who can't see, Lane 4 is who slipped
Thanks
I didn’t see it
@@TheCoolStyle I still don't see it lmao
@@joshs7160 I don’t either
Thank you, I kept stopping back and looking at it.
As a swimmer that swims the 100 back and has state this weekend, this made my heart drop
Sameee
Go man
Yo how’s u do I just swam at states too👀
How was it
Dude flopped hard on States
mans really said ill let u guys get a head start and ill catch back up 💀
I can't imagine how much adrenaline he got from just that small slip. He may not have won had he started normally.
He would've, his best time is a 47-low from winter juniors. He won it with a 48.3 here.
Nah Ik him. He gained like two seconds
@@elizabethbarry1865 Gained 2 seconds and still win bro is nuts
How stupid can someone be
These boys are all cracked, even last place with a 50.54 on a 100 is impressive let alone backstroke congrats lane 4
This man will literally go down as the fastest backstroke ever, save the file
Got it in 4k
@@TheRealSplashBrothers ur welcome
@@leo_pelaez12 😘
let’s go Maximus, too crazy, so glad I was able to meet him at our regionals meet
I was there for this meet at UT. We were ALL watching him, and when he fell, faces just dropped. Imma say the only other moment people were more in disbelief was when Sonny Wang swam his 50 free sub 20 as a jr and won
Sonny not win the 50

A lot of swimmers get really good really early for some reason. Didn’t Phelps go to Olympic trials at 15?

how can y’all see who slipped? i still can’t see what i’m supposed to be looking at

Idk can’t tell you

This man got an entire anime plot in his back i bet his back story shows up the moment he falls and then when he's about to give up he remmembered the teaching of his sensei...
I still can’t figure out which one slipped
Yeah my bad I’ll make it more clear next time 😞
It was lane 4😭
I participated in a 400m race when i was 9 and it was super crowded at the start (around 100 kids). Because of this i tumbled at the start and some kids ran on me. The result of this was huge adrenaline boost and me wanting revenge. Ended up winning the race even though i was around 100m behind when i got up. Good memory
The kids running on you part sounds so brutal 😭
@@actually-a-lime250 Maybe it wasn't so brutal in reality but in my memories it was brutal
Yay :D
Only swimmers understand. I have no idea what I was looking for at lane 4
Go to 0:03 and turn your playback speed to 0.25x. Then you will see something that all the swimmers had in common except lane 4. Basically all the other guys had their foot up, while lane 4 had his foot in the water when he launched off
It happens really fast if you watch on normal
They swim back faster than my freestyle.
He was such an underdog because of that slip that the family of the other competitors were cheering for him as well
Man, you can't even see the slip going frame by frame because the kid in the 5th lane body blocks it haha .. Crazy comeback though!
NY Boys State Championships 2009, it's the age of the supersuits. Tom Luchsinger tries to zip up his full body suit for the 200 yard Free and the entire back of the suit tears open. He dives in and goes 1:37 and breaks the NY state record. Such a savage swim that I remember.
Those little accidents are like a boost of adrenaline
On my last meet, I accidentally stopped on a 200 and still beat everyone 😅
LIAR
bro what event has you stopping at the 200 lmao
@@pengou7049 I was swimming the 200
Dedication going through him really clutched up
Maximus is crazy
Can you imagine if he didn’t slip off the wall! 😳
dog died in hole in mexico
I don’t watch nor swim. People said it was Lane 4. If y’all don’t mind me asking, how exactly did he slip? 😅 it looked like he started with the others
Probably just his feet. His hands got around well but his body sunk really deep on the start so that’s why he came up so far behind. Backstroke slips aren’t usually as bad visually
I don't know who slipped so I waited to see who won and I don't know who won either
the fact that this video goes for 58 seconds, you already know he’s fast
It's the "oh no" for me lol
Call an ambulance, but not for me
When the guy said "how" I felt that
From this former backstroker.. well done!
Lmao I can't even do a backstroke start but it's my fav and best races 😭
WE BE MAKING IT OUT OF THE POOL WITH THIS ONE 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I watched thus like 10 times I still don't know who slipped
This is just an anime moment right there, flubbed it at the start and just starts powering up mid match
I have no idea what I’m looking at. To me it looked like nobody slipped, yet everyone in that room all saw it
It’s not really a surprise that lane 4 ended up winning despite the slip, they usually place the fastest swimmers in the middle lanes anyways. Good hustle Max Williamson despite 👍.
Coach : no excuses
He : i took that personally.
man’s a straight menace
as a freshman too
I can’t tell which one slipped anyone know?
ThT was something else
what a comeback oml
You know it's good when the video's under 1 minute.
This gives a whole new definition to the word slipping
The anger from slipping makes you swim faster. It’s science
Good thing is these guys will never drown
i saw no one slipping up 💀
Yeah i am so confused
lane 4
Biggest flex I sat next to him at state meet 😫
bros the goat
as a backstroker this is truly fucking amazing
lane 5 had an illegal start too lol
Maximus is a beast
We’re recruiting this kid
main character energy
The adrenaline was pumping.
the next jack levant
I remember I swam for a team in Japan when I lived there. We had an international meet in Taiwan. I slipped on the block and sprained my ankle. They let me go again and I got 1st out of 8 teams.
Neither did i see which kid slipped nor which kid won
Me who can't even tell me who won never mind who slipped
That’s way better than I can do.
still can't find who slips 😂😅
WAIT THATS _MAXIMUS WILLIAMSON_????
he’s amazing. i watched him get a NAG record when i was 12, and also saw him compete this year at state to where he got MULTIPLE records & also swam at the olympic trials & made semis!!
When I was at districts my goggles I had been using for 3 years broke. I borrowed someone else’s goggles that I thought were almost the same. Coming to the wall the magnification of the wall was off and I flipped an entire foot short and had to push back and go. I still got 8th place but I was in first coming to the wall on the 50 yard freestyle. Worst moment ever.
FINALLY I FOUND THE SLIP
ngl, really thought the title said “slipped on shart”
He didn’t even really slip but a 48 in 100 back bruhh 👑👑👑👑
“I’m Mr Nimbus!”
For the people who can’t see, lane 5, the 4th closest lane to the audience, is the one that slipped. You can’t even see it though.
Maximus is just built different
To be fair Williamson is a contender to make the Olympic team in 2024. Shows you the difference in talent that exists
YES MAXIMUSSY!!!!
What lane?
i remember watching this and me just screaming for him to win
I love the energy
I wanted Garrett to win 😩
I know exactly what to look for and can’t find it. How did y’all see it so fast?😊
Wait, who slipped?
First time I ever raced backstroke I needed 2 people to help me out of the pool because my legs completely gave out - it was like nothing id ever experienced. When they finally got me all the way out, I promptly threw up in a drain by the stands.
meanwhile i had to replay the start 10 times to see who slipped in the first place haha.
nah 48 is insane for a 100 wtf
my worst fear as a tiny backstroker is the start, this is unreal
Is it just me who is too blind to see who slipped
Why do they use such a short pool (25m long) for the state final? Is there not a 50m long indoor pool in Texas?
There’s many. This pool is 50m. American high school competes in 25y.
I know the guys who got 1st-2nd. Train with their teammates. When we got to practice after state, everyone was still talking abt it Hkhj impressive indeed!!
My boy Daniel in lane 7 😤
My shoe came off in a sprint but I still won lol
