"That's why you have me darlin, I never learn my lesson." That's when you know J.R. has got your back. Even in his olden years, J.R. is still a badass!
It was also nice of JR at the end of the scene to try to patch things up between Sue Ellen and Bobby's wife, Ann. He and Ann didn't exactly get along, but JR could see Ann was hurting. (I don't exactly recall the storyline, but Ann spilled the beans on Sue Ellen's bribe when her ex-husband threatened her with never seeing her daughter, who she thought had died but was hidden from her). What JR said on the old series in jest -- "I'm actually a pretty nice guy when I get what I want" -- actually rang true here.
I remember watching this and couldn’t help but remember thinking at the time that the way SE’s home looked on the inside should’ve been the look for modernizing the interior of SF, for the new Dallas - classic and traditional yet slightly modernized. The pottery barn style where everything took place in the kitchen wasn’t South Fork.
sue ellen was your typical golddigger. marry for money. love for money cheat for money. she was no saint. but appeared to be a saint next to JR. even satan would be scared if JR EWING
At least this time JR inadvertently stopped Sue Ellen from starting drinking again and wasn't the cause of it....The writers of the original series were so good, they really let the audience know how each character thought and from the watching the original series I can bet JR new his ex wife was about to or had already picked up a drink. when he was walking in the house....His whole speech that he concluded with "beating the bottle" was nonsense....Just a little probing....
It's nice to see her still wanting to be being a bad boy but in his wives favor thru him and to be wanting to help her thru him in this and which is the opposite of what he used to be when he was only against her thru him in his past

JR's real masterpiece.......growing to truly love and respect Sue Ellen.
Give me a couple of days to work the State Attorney.
I'll make sure that twit never presses charges.
-J.R. Ewing.
this was such a great reunion, Larry Hagman as J.R. made this show, still can not believe that he's gone even years later.
He made Dallas, without him, there's no Dallas
J.R. never stopped loving his Sue Ellen.
We want Dallas back please
There's no Dallas without JR.
Linda Gray was just fabulous as Sue Ellen, first during the original run and then 2012 -2014. She was born to play that role.

Best scene of the new series -- and one of the top ten scenes of both series!
Josh Henderson was outstanding as John Ross 🌠
I totally agree, he was a perfect fit
Absouletely agree..
Omri Katz was better. He was the real John Ross.
I remember seeing every single episode of "DALLAS" very much when I was much younger and boy did I enjoy watching it of 357 episodes plus one prequel and two sequel movies.

Happy 40th anniversary DALLAS
2:31 Wow he is actually being sincere.
Politics is a dirty business though. But overall this was an outstanding scene.

Did Larry Hagmann ever win an Emmy?He should have won many
I believe he did.
He was nominated in 1980 and 1981, but lost both times (to Ed Asner [Lou Grant] in 80, and Daniel Travanti [Hill Street Blues] in 81).
It said he did for playing this role since 1970s
Even though they had a love-hate relationship and marriage I think JR still cared about Sue-Ellen.
I know it's for dramatic effect but why would a recovering alcoholic have wine in her house?
Should have let JR handle it
It used to be vodka now it's wine.
Yeah it’s always been her weakness.
Sue Ellen was just as greedy as JR if not worse.
SHAWN MICHAEL Duncan
I know what happened to her.?? She seemed to not have a conscience
Of course. She can play dirty too.
sue ellen was your typical golddigger. marry for money. love for money cheat for money. she was no saint. but appeared to be a saint next to JR. even satan would be scared if JR EWING
Sue Ellen was a very attractive and smart woman ,JR, almost destroyed her,She deserved much better
Linda Grey looks like she hasn't aged, here
Someone explain to me why a recovering alcoholic keeps wine in the house
I have shingles. Feel shit but JRs comment made me laugh. Never learned his lesson
Too many peoples lives are like soap operas anyway
J.R. is always straightforward. You have to give him credit for that.

Id say yes to dallas again but jr. Made dallas. Would not be same. Like victor makes y and r.
You know no matter what Sue Ellen is a good person!°
It's nice to see her still wanting to be being a bad boy but in his wives favor thru him and to be wanting to help her thru him in this and which is the opposite of what he used to be when he was only against her thru him in his past
JR Ewing was always known for keeping promises that he made.
Please think positive daily. ©®

There is a hart in JR afterall
J.R. For Governor!🙃
Man...J.R has really aged in this scene.
Well that’s what a lot of drinking would do, plus In real life Larry Hagman was pushing 80.
You sound ignorant. He was almost 80.How was he supposed to look?
