JR was dying from terminal cancer and had only days to live. His right hand man, Bum Jones, stole Cliff’s pistol and shot JR with it on JR’s orders as an “assisted suicide” of sorts. In a motion picture version of "Dallas" it would be very difficult to find an actor who can play JR Ewing the way that only Larry Hagman could. Larry was special when he played the character.

Rubbish like that is why i never watched the reboot and don't acknowledge it as canon. My Cliff ending is the JR Returns one where he gives everything up to be with Afton. Much more preferable.
Dallas TNT really butchered the character of Cliff Barnes. It was lazy writing by the writers. In the original Dallas, Cliff was never evil. In fact, his feud with the Ewings, with the exception of JR, was basically over by the end of the original series. Bobby and Cliff were also close by the end. Certain things in Cliff’s past as stated in Dallas TNT actually never happened in original Dallas. This was a major flaw in the new show and totally out of character for Cliff.
Cliff would not have had the rig destroyed with his daughter on it. All Cliff ever wanted was a loyal family. Cliff was never evil. JR was evil, and, I hate to say it, but so was Katherine, but, not Cliff
The thing is, the franchise just can't continue without JR Ewing. They should have started the show a few years earlier, so that we could have had more years of Larry Hagman as JR.
I didn't love that the writers took Cliff down such a dark path in this timeline, but it was kind of cool that JR was now the lesser of two evils. I'd almost forgotten Cliff's daughter was such a hottie. That was the saddest part of this reboot only lasting 3 seasons lol.
That was a big problem with the new Dallas. Cliff had already put the feud to rest, officially during that great scene he had with Miss Ellie in the park. The new Dallas should have never happened. I watched about 5 or 6 episodes of the new Dallas but couldn't get into it.
It was towards J.R. not the whole family, which is exactly what he told Miss Ellie (and she said she understood that). And he wasn't like Digger in the end, he owned Ewing Oil fair and square by the time the end of the original series, and him and Bobby were friends. Everything about this storyline is bullish*t! Christopher never had any claim on Barnes Global and that is the biggest fact, because Pam never did. How they pulled that "reasoning" out of their butt, no one will ever know because this disgrace was cancelled. And good riddance, because if they are going to continue with this farce then it should just die. Such a horrible storyline for such an iconic character in Cliff Barnes, and something the amazing Ken Kercheval deserved better too, for being so dedicated (and awesome) to the Dallas show in general.
Ken could bearly talk without his voice cracking up and he still nailed this scene. New was so good i have to do a rewatch

JR.s final “F You” to Cliff.
Cliff got arrested for murder
So...what happened in the end?
I think the Dallas Reboot lasted only 3 seasons because Larry Hagman A.K.A JR Ewing passed away.
I didn't love that the writers took Cliff down such a dark path in this timeline, but it was kind of cool that JR was now the lesser of two evils.
I'd almost forgotten Cliff's daughter was such a hottie. That was the saddest part of this reboot only lasting 3 seasons lol.
Yes I wish they would have brought the new Adele's back because I feel like it didn't end right there's more to the story than they're telling
He's trying to frame me from the grave. 😂
Masterpiece Like J R
Cliff oh well you have got it uncle cliff
dont fuck with bobby ewing
Jason Raczkowski For me, you just don't fuck with the Ewing family in general.
J.R.'s ultimate masterpiece!
Cliff wouldn't have kept the gun or belt buckle. And with all the $$$$ Cliff had he just would have bought he's way out it's Mexico 🇲🇽
Bring back Dallas and JR .
Cliff 2.0 was so out of Character.....
I know...The original Cliff would never have killed his own grandchildren
That was a big problem with the new Dallas. Cliff had already put the feud to rest, officially during that great scene he had with Miss Ellie in the park.
The new Dallas should have never happened. I watched about 5 or 6 episodes of the new Dallas but couldn't get into it.
Oh I loved the new Dallas...loved it totally...just Cliff didn't make sense.
@@stephaniee3814 just pretend it never happened, the original Dallas will always be the one and only
Cliff...WE KNOW JR framed you for his murder
Cliff Barnes never learns in his quest for blood on the Ewings it always backfires on him he never wants to let go never ending karma.
Did Cliff sound like he was slurring his words?
