"This is 'My Fisher Price first experimental hip-hop album'." Myke is the greatest.
END_VOID:\\ hoooooly shit lmao
my exact thoughts
Came here for that soundbite from dissect
@@rashadismail1685 that take aged terribly. Yeezus is a masterpeice years later
@@MrPaperRolls no it didn’t, everything he said is still true lmao it’s literally only considered a masterpiece by these same kids who overhyped it when it came out. It had zero influence, nobody even brings it up anymore besides the Stans of it. All these years later and you still don’t have a point for the fact death grips, Lupe, Danny brown and others did this sound before him so it just isn’t groundbreaking. Sorry 9 years later it didn’t influence shit and again these guys definitely all still feel exactly the same about this. His take aged extremely well it was the start of his downfall. Him copying other people is exactly why donda was so bland and y’all praising him as an innovative genius for taking other actually experimental creative acts like death grips and watering it down.

@ayyy__donkey damn fr, when did he blow up?
I guess I'm kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good site to stream newly released movies online ?
"YOU PUT THIS SHIT ON... AND THE SHIT COMES IN WITH ALL OF THIS FUCKIN' SHIT..."
"You put the shit on, and the shit comes in with all of this fucking shit..." My favourite combination of words from this channel ever.
I love Myke C-Town's opinion. Every time I wait to see his thoughts because his views almost mirrors my opinion. He's harsh and I like it.
3:35 bruhhhh 😂😂😂 ''slam dunk into the recycle bin'' shit had me dead
Extremely glad Death Grips was mentioned
lol not even death grips are particularly original; they bit from B L A C K I E, techno animal and the beatnigs. great artists steal.
....but not Daft Punk who worked on half the album
This didn’t age well but a lot of people were wrong too.
@@wm_9640 that’s not what I said. A lot of people (including these guys) have changed their opinion on this album.
Nah I still don’t like this album lol
This album still is "Experimental music for dummies" for Hip Hop fans tho. Like is the album Hip Hop fans listen when they want to feel a lil bit more adventurous but not too much tbh.
(I don't hate the album btw relax)
What if I love both Death Grips and Yeezus
Facts i get what theyre saying but i just love how this albums sounds and the stupid kyrics are fun i love death grips and tons of experiemtnal music but yeezus just feels like a manic episode and i think it works
Agreed. Yeezus is far more interesting than a lot of other kanye albums. Some of the lyrics are trash, sure. But you could find that on most kanye albums
love myke's reviews
I agree
Sorry yall, but I like that Yeezus shit.
AYEEEEEEEEEEEE
@@dereklane7843 my son was an OG fan LMAO
I would love to see an ultimate Kanye revisit series. Every album every week and see how they hold up today.
To me, Yeezus is a character, like MF DOOM or Dr Octagon, I listen to the album with that in mind and I enjoy it.
Yeezus is a rock, rap and hard type of album. I would only love this album if I have a certain type of mood. Yeezus is like a mad genius gone wild type of project.
Weird and crazy album. People expected this to be a hip hop album like his classics. But really this is just opposite. I hope SWISH is going to be a Late Registration kind of album.
+Urine Denial Yeezus is just Kanye being full of himself.
***** The album isn't even that different, anyone who listens to glitch knows this. It's unique in a lot of ways though, which I respect a lot.
***** I disagree, i'm not saying just because its different it's good. I'm saying it's good.
"Struggle" the album 😭
I loved all of the Death Grips albums (I'm forming an opinion on the most recent album), and I LOVED YEEZUS.
GET THE PORSCHE OUT THE DAMN GARAGE!
It entertained me, and I really did like the production and lyrics. Sue me.
Kbinge was wildin' out on this one. But, Myke was right. Perfect points.
+Cole Pace Nobody is "right" about subjective music taste. Respect your opinion tho
Micah Schoell I agree. No one is right.
I think they should relisten to Yeezus and review in retrospective. I have come back to to album front to back and it's hard to believe I hated this album in 2013. But if they still hate it totally fine but the album to me is a 8/10 at best.
Didn't like yeesuz the first time either. But after a while, after you let the frustration and anger in. I absolutely loved it. Just an amazing album. Ahead of its time. Not for everybody, but one of my fav kanye albums.
Ahead of its time? Lol dude ripped off death grips
Definitely not ahead of it’s time. You wanna hear ahead of its time? Listen to B L A C K I E. It’s actually been confirmed that Kanye was listening to him in the studio while making Yeezus. Straight up ripped him and Death Grips off
Myke hit the nail the head in this one.
nahh
nahh yeezus go crazy
Yeezus wasn't bad. I first heard the album, I hated it and I hated Kanye for that album. Like everything, if you have the patience, it grew on me. I like the album, it's not a MBDTF, but "It bumps in the whip" for me
After listening to the album almost a year later after all the hype and bandwagon hopping died down, Myke was spot on.
yup
lmao no, Yeezus is one of the best albums of this decade and if you haven't heard that yet you should listen again
BLKKKSKKKNHEAD
Kanye.. is that you?
earth to kaaaanyeeeee
BLKKKSKKKNHEAD Man you crazy. NO, College Dropout, Late Registration have been some of the best albums since 2000 from him.
Sam Alexander each to his own
"This album should have been called 'STRUGGLE.'" Myke.
💀💀💀
Death Grips isn't hip hop, its sooo soo much more.
im sayin
Ken out here looking like Andrew Tate
Honestly I don't think Yeezus was just Kanye hopping on a bandwagon. For one thing, yes, in 2013 Death Grips were blowing up, but it's not like experimental hip hop was such an "in" thing that it would be worth copying on its own. Frankly, it's just needlessly cynical to assume Kanye was ripping off Death Grips. And for another thing, this album doesn't really sound much like DG and other noise-rap from the time. The production is noisy, sure, but you'd almost never call it cluttered. Death Grips songs are layered, filled with all kinds of noises and samples, and that's what creates the overwhelming sound that makes people categorize DG as "noise rap". Yeezus, meanwhile, is often highly minimalistic; songs like On Sight, New Slaves, Bound 2, Send It Up, even Blood On The Leaves, all have quite simple beats. In terms of vocal performances, Kanye wasn't just being weird for its own sake; really, the punchlines aren't that much more ridiculous than what was on MBDTF. Can you really argue that "Eatin' Asian pussy, all I need is sweet and sour sauce" is that much more groan-worthy than "So much head I woke up in sleepy hollow"? Yeezus is not Kanye just trying the "it" sound without really trying; it's him blending elements that were already part of his style-- the autotuned singing, the rebellious lyrics, the creative use of samples-- and cranking them up to eleven. Hell, you could easily argue that "Monster" is a precursor to Yeezus.
I like Yeezus. Here's why, the album plays with my emotions really well. The album gets me pumped almost immediately and throughout the album i can maintain that level of excitement. I think lyrically yes he is lackluster for the majority of the album but in my opinion there are times when he does shine. I think its a solid Kanye Album. I am huge Kanye fan and when this album initially came out i did nit fuck with it, but as time went on the album grew on me.
While I loved Yeezus, I liked this video anyways because these guys gave a detailed and supported opinion that proved some good points. However, the reason I loved Yeezus was because: 1. It pushed the darkest aspects of MBDTF to an insane extreme. 2. It gave a huge middle finger and scream of escape to everyone who was trying to tear him down and dismiss him. 3. It challenged the music listening world as a whole from hip-hop traditionalists to teeny boppers, parents, hipsters, priests, industrial heads, etc. It is by no means for everyone, and I respect the opinions of those who are not fans, but all I know is that I loved it. 9.5/10
Death grips did exact the same and they haven't shitty lyrics
MrPimmetjepom Death Grips is a really good group. The Money Store and Government Plates are high 8/10's and classics in my book. But Yeezus and Death Grips are different albums with different stories. Critically, Kanye can be a tricky artist to understand. His interviews can seem like gibberish, his music overhyped, and his ego making him an asshole to people that don't see value in him or his music. He just takes time listening to all of his albums and an understanding of context to get him.
TheDomanation13
I don't think he's a genius, he tries hard to look like one. He's overhyped in my opinion. But i do have respect for his production and I don't give a fuck about the mainstream.
¨TheDomanation13 But too many people don't know that Techno Animal was doing a similar sound than found on Yeezus over 10 years ago.
Neurozumim
8:20 is absolutely what I think.
I think Yeezus aged better than anyone would’ve thought back when it first dropped TBH
This album clicks when you realize that Kanye's only saying all this shit because he's insecure. The whole album is one giant ode to insecurity, almost like a slimmer MBDTF only also rooted in the biases of the industry.
That makes a lot of sense actually but it doesn't take away from the shitty production IMO.
+Mtthew 123 do you mean the shitty instrumentals? The production on this album is incredibly intricate but appreciating that requires you to listen through all the screechy industrial noises XD
TheGooseinator Production may be intricate but it sounds very noisy and chaotic.
Because that's the point.
+Mtthew 123 check out industrial music
myke stays predicting the future. a bunch of kids are gonna copy the kanye west album because it’s hot? bam. trap metal and wendigo type beats are a thing.
"You put this SHIT on.. and this SHIT comes on with all of this fucking SHIT.." Haha well said Ken.
There's nothing really to "get" about this album, it's just bangers and Kanye wanting to make more electronic-based hip-hop like a lot of other popular artists have been doing nowadays (not many of them very well). On Kanye's first album (remember "Breathe in breathe out"?) he mentioned himself as a contradiction on his albums of "bullshit ice rap" and significant lyrics; Yeezus is following the same trend as his previous albums, just with a different style and less emphasis on good lyrics. I don't think the lyrics are bad, just that most of the time they aren't trying to say anything significant (with the exceptions on the album like New Slaves, Black Skinhead, etc.); but hasn't a sizable portion of hip-hop already been stupid-ass lyrics over trap-ass beats for decades? Young Jeezy never said anything important, nonetheless he's got some classic-ass hood-ass bangers. There's a place in hip-hop for shallow bullshit, and I think Kanye does it better on Yeezus than a lot of artists right now. The production on Yeezus is awesome, and while I'm bumping this album in the whip or seeing Kanye live, these songs are dope.
Death Grips is one of my favorite bands, and I can still appreciate Yeezus, because I'm not expecting Kanye to scream complex, cryptic lyrics, and because Yeezus's production works nicely for its kind of hip-hop; MC Ride's lyrics and style wouldn't really work over these instrumentals. I don't only like this album because it's Kanye. There's also a huge catalog of MCs with complicated lyrics worthy of deep analysis and critique that I can refer to outside of Yeezus if I'm wanting socially-conscious rap, and even then, it's not like "New Slaves" should be glossed over like its lyrics are meaningless. There's all kinds of shit like this album that isn't criticized for not being deep enough; we keep expecting Kanye to push the envelope, and people's expectations of Kanye weren't met. The more time I've spent with Yeezus the more I've come to appreciate it for what it is, as hip-hop that just slaps. I can go stupid to this album all the time
+Micah Schoell Actually, Kanye established electronic styled hip hop that is here now or in some cases ( Like Drake) expanded. He did innovate that sound with 808 & Heartbreaks, though.
I don't buy that. Someone like Kanye who has so much to prove to people wouldn't put out an album with shit lyrics unless it served some kind of greater purpose.
Death Grips didn't fucking invent industrial hip hop. If I hear that comparison one more time like they're the progenitors and they patented the style, I'm gonna put my head through a fucking wall.
Who did? I'm intrigued.
It's been around in various forms since the mid-80's. Here's the Wikipedia article on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_hip_hop
Direct contemporary parallels to Death Grips have been around since the late-90's with acts like Dalek and Saul Williams. The same people that say people who like Kanye's album don't know about industrial hip hop are guilty of the same damn thing.
>Kanye
>musically ignorant
I get what Myke is trying to say. He sees bullshit in Kanye, which we must all agree he is full of it. And Myke is simply calling it out. I loved this album, but he is 100% right.
I forgot how hilarious this was lmfao
Took 3 years for this album to grow on me
+SuperMightyChicken This is a comment from another video I had.
-
Must say, I was a fool for not really listening to these songs. My love for the production grew as the years went on. The thing is, I didn't like his flow so I couldn't adhere the lyrics other than the ones like "MY DAMN CROISSANTS" or "I keep it 300, like the Romans... " And this is coming from a core Kanye West fan. I can't believe I undermined some of the excellence on this project. However, I don't think I will ever genuinely understand "I'm In It" (the first 30 seconds at least), and "I Am A God," however I do burst out laughing when I hear ' yo what up yeeeeezus.' Guess, my #1 album will evolve from the most recent MBDTF, which I only started loving in 2015.
+SuperMightyChicken first listen i didnt like yeezus. now i love it.
I tried listening to it a few times and started to like it just now...
Beats: 4/5
Lyrics: 2/5
Those interracial lines didn't make you laugh bruh
I completely agree with Myke. I was saying the exact same things he was saying after i listened to it a couple times. But then someone told me to imagine that Kanye isn't rapping but instead the persona of Yeezus. After that, it all made sense to me and now i love this album. I think if Myke just had that idea in his brain and listened to it again, he would like it a whole lot more.
+Ammar Mohamed yeah i guess you can look at this album as sort of a parody of kanye himslef, but i dont think kanyes that self aware to do that. also as myke mentioned the production is just extremely bland noise hop/industrial.
If what he was rapping on that album is his Yeezus persona he can keep that shit to himself
I feel like Bound 2 should have been talked about more. The beat was unique, and I feel he spiitted well on that. Bound 2 is phenomenal.
Myke C-Town Just destroyed this thing. He's the man, so right!
18:57 "this album should've been called struggle"
this aged perfectly in hindsight
Holy fuck, I love Myke. I agree with everything he says.
The album yeezus is quite brilliant actually... there is a cohesive underlying story arc that went over alot of people's heads. Keep in mind that Kanye not only does what he feels when he makes an album but he also plays off society's perception of him. It's a combination. He wholeheartedly wanted to make the album 808's & heartbreak as an artist but it also gave him an excuse to make it in light of the passing of his mother and the break up of his relationship with Alexis who was his fiance at the time. So I'm sure the feelings were very much real, but at the same time he played off the public perception of the state of emotions that people would imagine he was in. When he made MBDTF it was the first time you witnessed him embracing "asswhole" type of lyrics in a more direct way. It allowed him to play off the perception of his Taylor Swift moment the year before when the whole world hated him. Yeezus is a character that he played to go with the theme of the project and the time period of his life and aspirations. He played a character. I understood this more when I went to the Yeezus tour and was blown away by how it came off almost like a broadway play on a Walt Disney stage, which was a mountain by the way lol. But anyways he wore a mask, which he takes off when Jesus walks to the stage, at that moment is when Kanye takes off his mask as if to symbolize his enlightenment. The rest of the show proved that because after that point he ended the show with his more happier songs. Now let's get back to the cohesiveness of the story in the album... Kanye had a theme of minimalism for the album yeezus. So while at surface value the lyrics definitely come off as maybe some of Kanye's most simplistic rhymes ever, the genius lies in the underlying messaging of the story that I found very entertaining. The entire album is infact an allegory depicting the tragic fall of the "Yeezus" persona, going from the strong hard hitting angry, obnoxious, egotistical tracks On sight, Blackskinhead, I am a God, New Slaves. Then, it shows the inevitable tragic fall, like something straight from Aristotle himself: Hold my liquor and I'm in it deal with Alcohol and Sex addiction in a way that shouts the typical glorification of the Rockstar lifestyle, whilst robbing it of its glory.
"Had to stop at 7/11 like I needed gas/i'm lying i needed condoms don't look through the glass/chasing love and all the bittersweet hours lost/eating Asian pussy all I need was sweet and sour sauce". The distorted sound of the tracks and the uneasy schizophrenic sampling show the deterioration of the Yeezus persona as he "gets in too deep", The distortion of his voice throughout the song makes the listener realize the horror of what it is to embrace these aspects of life. Blood on the leaves is the climax of the album. Returning to the robot voice, to express the detached state that his sinful ways have led him to. This song is the Anagnorisis(similar to when Oedipus realizes that he's married his mother in the Greek tragedy). Yeezus has fallen low since he declared himself a god. Now you sitting court side/wifey on the other side/gotta keep em' separated i call that Apartheid/then she said she impregnated/that's the night ya heart died/now you gotta go and tell ya girl and report that/main reason cuz ya pastor said you can't abort that/now ya driver say that new benz you can't afford that/all that cocaine on the table you can't snort that/that goin' to that owin' money that the court got/all up in that alimony, uh, yeah - yeah she got you homie/'till death but do you your part, unholy matrimony."
Guilt trip is a continuation of Yeezus' road to redemption, his catharsis(continuation of robot voice). It's Yeezus attempts to overcome his failed relationship and come to terms with his own fallibility.
"Focus on the future and let the crew knock her" "if you love me so much then why you let me go?" (x3)
Then, we get to the final stage with the last two songs: Send it up and Bound 2. Send it up is Yeezus coming to terms with what has happened and joyfully choosing to put it all behind him. "Reliving the past? your loss" is the beginning of the song, and it ends with Beanie Mann singing "Memories don't live like people do; they always 'member you/whether things are good or bad/it's just the memories that you had". At the end of Kanye's verse, he shows that the Yeezus persona has revived anew "Yeezus just rose again". Bound 2 is the happy ending of Yeezus. Yeezus, after that all he's endured: the greatness, the loss, the suffering, and the revival; he is now redeemed. He is no longer chasing the fame, the money, the superficial things, and he's found that "one good girl [who] is worth a thousand bitches" meaning that he has found a legitimate relationship with a woman, as opposed to all the bitchy girls that he's been dealing with. This girl gives him everything that Yeezus could ever ask for: companionship. The final lines of the song reflect their relationship. "It's not perfect but you know, ain't nobody perfect". They celebrate the small milestones of making it to thanksgiving and to Christmas; perhaps they can make it all the way to the altar, but first she's going to need to forget and forgive the person that Yeezus was. On the last two lines, Yeezus sums up the entire journey, on a number of levels: after this long-ass journey and transition that Yeezus has gone through, reflecting the verses of these raps and self reflection; or the verses of him against his demons; or the verses of the bible as they get married they're both tired; and sad for the way things are for people still living their life in despair; and in a metaphor and reference to the shortest "verse" in the Bible, they weep, just as "Jesus Wept."
"Maybe, we can still make it to the church steps/but first, you gon' remember how to forget/after, all of these long-ass verses/i'm tired, you tired, Jesus wept."
I wrote this long-ass comment in hopes that some of you may revisit the album yeezus, and play it straight through from track one with a open mind now knowing this information. It really is light years ahead of anything he's done thus far, even though personally late registration and 808's are my two top favorite Kanye albums, I understand the brilliance of Yeezus. Just remember to not take everything so serious because if it's one thing I love about Ye it's his ability to poke fun at himself in his music. He really hasn't changed, only progressed. In alot of ways "New Slaves" is a 2013 version of "All Falls Down." Same subject matter. And i never understood the fuss about him being hypocritical when this is not a new Kanye, he was hypocritical on his very first album. Acknowledging being hypocritical is one quality of being a conscious artist. You're human, humans are hypocritical. People forget that celebrities are human too and do the same shit we do only difference is that they're famous so they are judged more harshly. It's almost like you're a joke once you're a famous artist you lose the right to have an opinion... 2Pac was misunderstood by many to being hypocritical in a lot of ways, When you hear Kendrick Lamar say "I'm the biggest hypocrite of 2015" he's talking about himself aswell, not just to others. Kanye has always conveyed musically to me "hey guys, I'm one of you" He was always addicted to clothes... "things we buy to cover up what's inside".. Keyword "WE". Kanye has always been this type of social rapper. True concious artists relate to the people, and in my opinion Kanye has done that well for atleast a decade.
+Joshua Espinosa It is a religious experience lmao
+Rich E. Rich this deserves more likes
+Joshua Espinosa haha truly man! saw him live 3 times in different stages of his career and he didn't disappoint
+Stank Movie Studio thank you sir
+Rich E. Rich This comment is brilliant, I wish it was at the top of every discussion on this album because I think this is the most sensible way to digest it. I've always enjoyed it (since the 5th listen - hated it on the first), and for me it's my 3rd favourite of all his work, but the Yeezus persona really must be emphasized for the album to shine.
I respect this review because you reviewed it the way a review should be reviewed from a review stand point.
Yeah your right, his discography has something for everyone. His earlier music definitely could be called concious. I remember the underground mixtape b4 the College Dropout and I was excited to hear him release and see where he was going. Man that was 2003 or 04 and he has come a long way musically. I think the experimentation works musically cuz like u said it ends up where u have something for everyone in the end. The fact that his discography/albums can promote this type of dialogue is good
Yeezus is supposed to show Kanyes anger and frustration at the media and the corporations and all that stuff he rants about. He simply gave his thoughts and feelings a sound. This album isnt about the lyrics but about the feel and what it represents. When youre furious you dont really think about what you say or do and yeezus captures that perfectly
C-town so fucking right
***** thx pal
Y'all are funny man. Reviews are on point. Waiting on Wale the gifted review
Woah I haven't been up to date with yall reviews [mainly because not many projects out that interested me to look up reviews] but nice camera update and great review ^_^
I love Yeezus. Most people will hate it. That's ok. But for 1% of hip hop fans, this LP is the shit. If you wonder why, I'll spell it out but in summary of all of the ranting I could do about this album, I love it. Except for Guilt Trip.
It gets mixed reactions because of how experimental it is. It's appeal at least from how I understand really depends on whether or not you understand Kanye and are fascinated with him as an artist and person. People who are into extreme music genres like Industrial, Metal, etc also may understand it's appeal.
TheDomanation13 On another note, Yeezus is my choice for the album of the year.
TheDomanation13 And because of Kanye's lyricism at points. We both know that he purposefully made the 2nd verse of I Am a God or the whole song On Sight crappy songs, lyrically to get a reaction out of people, but people who didn't get the deeper meanings behind lines like "I got her back in and put my dick in her moooooouuuuuuthhhhh." and the whole "Hampton" part of New Slaves, will hate this album for that.
Damon Horton It's not poorly done. You just have to get it. People who "get" the album know what I mean.
TheDomanation13 Not really true. I do listen to industrial music but yeezus was a pile of trash in my opinion. Yeah the production was interesting but the lyrics were elementary level. He went with a different sound but with the same ass mainstream lyrics.
"Hurry up with my damn croissant!"
-This term is obviously referring to his lack of purity and/or happiness and he's ordering the world to get it to him. The song all in all is him metaphorically hyping himself to be larger than life due to the social society and publicity he receives and...yeah I tried but no, he was so shallow on this album. Sorry Ye, I tried to make it deep. I fail :(
Very well said. I disagree with DG not being too far ahead in the category of lyrical content...but I think it's more to what each individual is into and is comfortable with. But I feel you.
One of the most honest reviews I've seen from you guys thus far.
Guilt trip is fire
Is it bad that I like death grips and Yeezus? I think death grips is amazing and I some what liked Yeezus
Thank you so much guys I love this channel. I love how you all have your own opinions. And I love how yall are true fans of hip hop. But Ken and the guy with the long dreadlocks and ray bans are my favorite people on the show.
Love this review. Nailed it from every single possible angle. Fantastic review.
After hearing Bound 2, you realize Yeezus was all a clever ruse.
Yeezus is fucking amazing, its like a fucken energy drink. If you feel dumb or sad or some shit, listen to Yeezus and youll feel like God
yeah I agree on you with that one, I never liked kanyes work but I can sure appreciate someone fearlessly pushing their own boundaries whatever those may be
I enjoyed Yeezus as a whole project a lot when it first came out but I haven't listened to it much since. Amazing experimental project but didn't have much replay value, Guilt Trip is the only song I still play from time to time. The outro's and samples were genius on this project, ending to New Slaves, Outro on I'm in it and the outro on Hold my Liquor were all great examples. Plenty of amazing moments on Yeezus but most of them were from a production stand point rather than a lyrical side.
Yeezus aged well.
"I look at this like a little kid trying to get my attention by tugging on my shirt. And if I'm ignoring him long enough he's gonna go light something on fire."
God dammit that line made me choke on my food. Classic.
You gotta let this album grow on you
you guys are awsome! much love!
Yeezus is probably my favourite Kanye album. Definitely the most misunderstood narrative.
Blood On The Leaves is certainly one of my favourite tracks from the album, but I think the way West sampled Nina Simone's "Strange Fruit" was pretty insulting.
The sample's from a song about a lynching tree with "black bodies swinging in the summer breeze" and West goes and makes it about a breakup with a long-time girlfriend he did molly with, who seemed to rat his out to the media and attempt to put down his reputation.
Sampling a song which has such cultural and historical weight to it and then rapping "She instagram herself like bad bitch alert / He instagram his watch like mad rich alert" just seems to show how removed West is from his own context.
i agree. it wouldn't surprise me if he was comparing his bad relationship to the lynchings in the early 20th century. it seems like something kanye would say.
i disagree with it being insulting, but im not african american so i guess take what i say with a grain of salt.
to me the whole point of yeezus was black pride and sticking it to what is essentially a white mans world. making comparisons to shit like slavery and oppression isnt anything new to kanye. he did it a lot on my beautiful dark twisted fantasy. but w/e, i appreciate yr criticism and i understand why people might see it as being in poor taste. context aside tho, the song is pretty fucking great.
Dan Terlizzi its more of a kanye pride album than it is a black pride album.
mynameishunter12345 one of the reasons kanye is proud to be himself is because of his family's involvement in civil rights of minorities, though.
Dan Terlizzi oh my god no, that is too funny! that is not the reason why kanye has a big ego. but that comment is hilarious though.
Beezy and Ken used to have some fire in their voices. I'll tell you what man, getting old can take that away from anyone.
dehh have fallen off since the pandemic started
GOOD GOD THANK YOU MYKE!! bout the only one that was on makin some sense in this review.
Myke C-Town is spot on as always awful experimental album ripped off from Death Grips. And this is coming from a big Kanye Fan.
If you were a Kanye fan, you wouldn't say you're a Kanye fan. #FACTS
wachicoli Even though I liked every single one of his albums before YEEZUS =/. Also who the hell uses # on RUclips?
Death Grips influenced but with more flair and his own style.
LouieK322 more flair? im not even...
Yeezus is the dopest cd that came out this year and Im not a die hard Kanye fan. I appreciate the creativity, the lyrics and the music. I can bump it from front to back 100
thank you
After listening to this album a few time I went back and listen to Death Grip and now i can say i actually like DG now. Thank you Yeezus
Royce made that Ice Cream skit & put it on Allegory & They reviewed it. Flash forward back to the Yeezus review and the song in question on that skit is playing in the background coincidentally.
Kanye is the best rapper alive....
Rapper - no
Artist - Yes
Kanye for sure heard Death Grips song "Come Up And Get Me" and made :On Sight". It's a complete rip off of that song.
So when he made Hell of a life back on MBDTF, was he copying a band which didn't exist?
Shemzinho he didn't copy, but it's definitely an El-Pish, Techno Animal-like production. of course its all kanye, but i just find it weird when people (not you) call kanye innovative.
Weeneen Ala'hadouanan I agree man
Andrew Dawson said in an interview they ain't even listen to DG while making the album. Fantano just started that 'Yeezus ripped off DG' trash ass take and everyone ran with it
3:50 Kinge's response is perfect and my opinion exactly!
God damn, Myke was so into this review. I love it.
This did not age well at all. They were old heads back then already. Bruhhhh
facts lol
This is cope. “oLd hEaDs” FOH.
Myke even said that he can listen to it and not skip it, but he was more pissed at people who shit on Death grips, yet praise Yeezus.
Best album ever
Mbdtf, graduation and college dropout are far better
great discussion guys
I like Yeezus. Probably my favourite kanye album. Just for the production of it all. It just sounds so dirty and dark which I really like. Each beat really hits you. Some songs are better than others, Hold my Liquor, I'm In It and Guilt Trip being quite weak. But the songs like Bound 2, Blood On The Leaves, New Slaves and Black Skinhead more than make up for them. The lyrics are sub par but they don't matter to me when the music and production are as on point as they are on this album.
Personally Yeezus is my favorite Kanye album ,six years later it still sounds fresh...I respect their opinion though
Yeezus is an incredible piece of art. The production is a work of art and is like a toned down more sonically Death Grips album. With Kanye's typical rhyme scheme (which does have faults at points), and some fire production Yeezus is pretty great conceptually. 7.8/10
God bless you.
I still don't feel it. This album for me was Kanye just reaching desperately for something and he basically fooled the people into thinking this album is "deep." But it's really just nonsensical stuff.
you should write for Pitchfork
Yo! Could you tell me what was the concept behind Yeezus? I really liked it but I feel like I'm missing something.
rEAL hIP hOP *Yeezus is an incredible piece of shit.
fixed
Damn, Mike just took the words outta my mouth. There's little to nothing I can add on to his comments so i'ma just say thank you! We got a surface-level, fisher price Kanye this time around.
1st listen I only liked 3 songs but after listen after listen I found myself not skipping 1 track and letting the whole thing repeat from track 1 again. Yeezus is a classic album
I think this the first time Ken is more critical than Myke
this album is amazing honestly!
it is, they we're trippin
It`s annoying that no one mentions that this is a story album. Like it has a tight narrative.
Holy fuck Myke C-Town said something that really resonated and made me realize something: Yeezus has extremely dumbed down lyrics in comparison to MBDTF but the production was completely experimental, dark and FAR FAR left. It's almost like Kanye got tired of industry pressure right now to dumb down lyrics in order to sell records and his response was to comply, BUT at the same time to compromise for the lyrics he decided to scout producers like Daft Punk and Rick Rubin to make the most in your face and abrasive beats to give a HUGE middle finger to his critics. It's all about the subtle things he did on this album that make this album amazing to me, like how he put a random kids' choir sample in the middle of On Sight and the way the instrumental suddenly brakes and starts again on Blood on the Leaves. This album is not for everybody but what people need to realize is that everything on this album was cold and calculated to the point where you almost need a microscopic lense to get a real feel for the music. 9/10 IMO
And this album is still relevant in 2020 lol
YEEZUS IS KANYE'S STRONGEST EFFORT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LATE REGISTRATION WAS MY FAVORITE BEFORE HAND BUT HOLY MOLY !!!
Yeezus is not creative
lol

Myke nails it on these reviews so often
Whatever your opinion is, you can't deny the solid facts and arguments that Myke spreads out on the table. He put out a great objective review.
the worst part of this review is myke saying this album is a joke.... and then saying he enjoys listening to it
Completely agree with Myke
Great video! Wish I could have been apart of the discussion.
I had to go back to this review after the new Kanye album dropped yesterday haha Just replace every comment about Experimental album with Jesus and God and this review is 100% accurate for the new album too!
