I use to be an embalmer in the Philippines for good 5 years, but I quit because I can't handle children, breaks my heart. I left the job and moved abroad here in Australia. Now I'm a chef. I tell you this job is not for every one it takes a very special person to do this kind of thing. Much respect to you mam!

I lost both of them in 2020 in the same six months completely unexpectedly. Broke me to shreds. But it's the hard workers that do the work you do, that helps me so much and made it actually bareable. I’m a 64 year old RN & I work in long term care with the frail elderly. At one time, prior to nursing school, I did consider becoming a mortician. I found this fascinating & would think it would be interesting to observe the process. I’m glad to know there are gentle & caring people like you who take care of my beloved residents when they leave me. Thank you. You are truly special.

A British physician said it best when he stated, "Think of a dead body as a house where the owner has moved out." Good analogy. The body is just a shell.
So right just a temple and its like a person moving out the soul and your spirit has journey to another ram the spirit lives on just a shell and spirit and soul dwelled.
@Robert Gardea You are so right! That is why I have decided, and told my family, that I DO NOT want to be embalmed! Not good for environment and also I want to go all natu-rel even if it means I have to be either refrigerated or to be buried asap. No metal coffin either....all wood. Better for the ground.
Years ago, I asked a friend who was a mortician to allow me to watch this process start to finish. I had seen every other part of the death process; I needed to see this as well. He was kind enough to let me watch him embalm several people. This was done with absolute respect for the deceased. While seeing the actual process is not something I recommend everyone do, it was essential for me. I was amazed at how it actually works, the problems that the mortician may run into and how they deal with it. I was also appreciative of this in depth look at the miraculous workings of the human body. But more than anything else, the most valuable affirmation I got from this is to know for myself that what the mortician is working on is an empty shell. The living presence has left the clay behind. It is one thing to be taught this, even to believe it. It is a precious gift to experience this for yourself. Thank you to the people who do this service; they are more important to the comfort of the families than most realize.

I'm a nurse and even though I have seen alot of death you never get the opportunity to see this aspect of the end of life. I feel like the wonderful people in the funeral industry are definitely the unsung hero's of the difficulty journey when having to cope with a loved one passing away. I can personally say that when my grandma passed away I was shocked and delighted to see how much care they had put in to make her look like MY grammy. She was in liver failure and was swollen up 2 times her normal size when she passed. I was so worried about what I was going to see even though I'm a nurse and have become slightly more tolerant when dealing with death. When I walked up I was so happy to see her look like I wanted to remember her. I cried because I knew how much thought and care went and into preparing her. So thank you so much for all you do in the funeral industry. It makes a difference for sure!

It's hard work they do but I prefer the way we do it we wash our dead & bury them as quick as possible & we treat ours as alive so we respect the dead we don't put them face down we turn to wash as its disrespectful to put them face down & I'd prefer not to be pumped full of stuff & wired shut so I'm glad we only wash then buried

That's great that y'all decided to do that, I'm not gonna do that, I'm going to be cremated, I'm disabled, I've been cut on a lot in my life, and I just feel like, I don't want that to happen to me anymore, but y'all are being really brave, and it's a great decision.

I worked in close contact within the industry & learned alot. It IS an art making the deceased look as natural as possible, given the circumstances of their death's. Some funeral directors are more talented than others. A good presentation is a comfort to the family.Thank you for a really down to earth, intelligent & compassionate presentation.
My closest friend passed when she was 17 yrs old due to a heart condition that she was born with. Due to her condition her coloring in life was not great. When I went to her wake the casket was opened and the makeup was so heavy including her lips that were painted up with bright pink lipstick. Her parents wanted the open casket as it helps with closure. I think it would have been better if the casket was closed. To this day I remember that lipstick.

A funeral directors job description is very simple. 1 - prepare the stiff to be burned to a crisp, popped into a box and given to the family. Or, 2 - prepare the stiff to be buried. It's not rocket science.

@@dbrown44115 no organs get removed during embalming. Embalming is where you drain fluids from the body and pump embalming fluid back into it through the circulatory system.

I'm a Pastor and I'm around death way to often and I'm so glad you are showing behind the scenes because this way people will know that there is nothing to fear and that there is the highest respect for the dead and the process of embalming is very good and practical. My husband recently passed and I was told that if you dont have an open casket or public viewing you dont get embalmed anyway.So I had to elect to have my husband embalmed.So if you dont want it to happen you cant be viewed..

They may have that policy, YOU have the right to go to a different funeral home. As for a viewing, my family and I see a dead body as nothing but an empty vessel. Gosh I would pray someone like u took care of my loved ones when they past! I am a nurse and I work in the nursing home long time care so I fall in love with all of them and sit with them and pray with them if that's what they choose....I kinda always thought every one takes care of them like I do..yetbprob not true! Love to you. The question is do you see yourself being visited by family at the cemetery. Loved ones , taking flowers or tidy up your grave or not??? Is a nice beautiful vase at one of your children's home will do? Which child? Or do you have a favourite place , u wish your ash will scattered at??? Hopefully this help.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom. I lost mine when I was in 5tth grade. In 6th grade we took a field trip to the same funeral home she'd had her wake at. Well they took us to the basement where embalming etc took place.. It messed with me because as he showed what all the instruments did, all I could do was imagine my mom lying there. It wasn't easy. I give you props for your strength to watch this when you did. Anyway, I hope you have peace. It's never ever easy to lose anyone, especially a beloved parent. All my love to you.

I was a little afraid to watch this, but she gave a very professional & compassionate presentation that dispelled many fears I had about this. I worked for years as an ICU nurse, so am not "queezy" & I always wondered what the next process was for patients who passed away when families would ask questions.

I have quite a phobia about pelvic exams and things like that so I was wondering if it is possible for a person to request that there privates not be touched. Of course I know that I'll be gone by the time that it would happen but it still would be comforting to know that those wishes are fulfilled if possible. I know it's a crazy question! 😉

My Mother passed 10 years ago. Still on my mind everyday. Saw this video and at this time can watch what happens. We had a wonderful funeral director. Never knew all he did but I remember thinking he was an artist. My Mother has dementia for 4 years, but he made her look like she use to before she got sick. I think I’m more afraid of actually being dead than dying. The whole embalming process feels humiliating to me. Like I don’t want to die because I’m terrified of being seen dead and the embalming process happening. This was informal, and you are so respectful.
The Muslims don't do any of this they just bury their dead in a very timely manor but most places say you cant have this done but you can! This is for the sake of viewings mostly. a natural burial sounds great to me.
Omgg girl mee too. I'm more afraid of being dead than actually "dying" i have a phobia of death. Its like thophobiac or something. Have since I was very little. Use to think i was always dying. I'm also a hypercondract & take meds for SEVERE ANXIETY. So for me death really bothers me.
This was so difficult to watch. My special needs adult son was embalmed & I've had thoughts of what if the deceased isn't dead during or prior the preparation, instead they're in a unnoticed coma. That individual can't communicate. I know it sounds far fetched but just think there have been deceased who've woke up at their own funeral. I tried opening my sons eyes at his viewing because he was born sleeping with his eyes partially open throughout his life. That's how I wanted him remembered. Though it would have freaked ppl out who weren't aware.

I wish all morticians would be like you. A caring loving attitude toward the deceased person is what the family wants, someone who does not look at them as just a body to embalm. Thank you for your videos, they have helped me tremendously!! Some people are afraid of dead people, like I used to be but these help a person to understand better, what has to be done for their loved one.

I dated a furnal director/owner so I got the grand tour of seeing it “live”, which Iam a nurse so nothing bothered me, except when it came to embalming a child.
@@debkski6084 embalming takes place after blood is drained from the body and embalming fluid is delivered via a tube into the body. It’s not required by law to embalm a body unless you plan to have a showing, in a funeral home or church.

Years ago, I asked a friend who was a mortician to allow me to watch this process start to finish. I had seen every other part of the death process; I needed to see this as well. He was kind enough to let me watch him embalm several people. This was done with absolute respect for the deceased. While seeing the actual process is not something I recommend everyone do, it was essential for me. I was amazed at how it actually works, the problems that the mortician may run into and how they deal with it. I was also appreciative of this in depth look at the miraculous workings of the human body. But more than anything else, the most valuable affirmation I got from this is to know for myself that what the mortician is working on is an empty shell. The living presence has left the clay behind. It is one thing to be taught this, even to believe it. It is a precious gift to experience this for yourself. Thank you to the people who do this service; they are more important to the comfort of the families than most realize.

I'm a nurse and even though I have seen alot of death you never get the opportunity to see this aspect of the end of life. I feel like the wonderful people in the funeral industry are definitely the unsung hero's of the difficulty journey when having to cope with a loved one passing away. I can personally say that when my grandma passed away I was shocked and delighted to see how much care they had put in to make her look like MY grammy. She was in liver failure and was swollen up 2 times her normal size when she passed. I was so worried about what I was going to see even though I'm a nurse and have become slightly more tolerant when dealing with death. When I walked up I was so happy to see her look like I wanted to remember her. I cried because I knew how much thought and care went and into preparing her. So thank you so much for all you do in the funeral industry. It makes a difference for sure!

It's hard work they do but I prefer the way we do it we wash our dead & bury them as quick as possible & we treat ours as alive so we respect the dead we don't put them face down we turn to wash as its disrespectful to put them face down & I'd prefer not to be pumped full of stuff & wired shut so I'm glad we only wash then buried

I worked in close contact within the industry & learned alot. It IS an art making the deceased look as natural as possible, given the circumstances of their death's. My closest friend passed when she was 17 yrs old due to a heart condition that she was born with. Due to her condition her coloring in life was not great. When I went to her wake the casket was opened and the makeup was so heavy including her lips that were painted up with bright pink lipstick. Her parents wanted the open casket as it helps with closure. I think it would have been better if the casket was closed. To this day I remember that lipstick.
This is a very challenging profession. I had no idea how demanding it can be. You guys get the crown. Thank you for all you do, we appreciate everything you do. Much respect.

This is probably the most honest and compassionate presentation about what a funeral director does.
A funeral directors job description is very simple. 1 - prepare the stiff to be burned to a crisp, popped into a box and given to the family. Or, 2 - prepare the stiff to be buried.

My husband recently passed and I was told that if you dont have an open casket or public viewing you dont get embalmed anyway.So I had to elect to have my husband embalmed.So if you dont want it to happen you cant be viewed..

They may have that policy, YOU have the right to go to a different funeral home. As for a viewing, my family and I see a dead body as nothing but an empty vessel. I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom. I lost mine when I was in 5tth grade. In 6th grade we took a field trip to the same funeral home she'd had her wake at. Well they took us to the basement where embalming etc took place..
It messed with me because as he showed what all the instruments did, all I could do was imagine my mom lying there. It wasn't easy.
I give you props for your strength to watch this when you did.

My Mother passed 10 years ago. Still on my mind everyday. Saw this video and at this time can watch what happens. We had a wonderful funeral director. Never knew all he did but I remember thinking he was an artist. My Mother has dementia for 4 years, but he made her look like she use to before she got sick. I think I’m more afraid of actually being dead than dying. The whole embalming process feels humiliating to me. Like I don’t want to die because I’m terrified of being seen dead and the embalming process happening.

This was so difficult to watch. My special needs adult son was embalmed & I've had thoughts of what if the deceased isn't dead during or prior the preparation, instead they're in a unnoticed coma. That individual can't communicate. I know it sounds far fetched but just think there have been deceased who've woke up at their own funeral. I tried opening my sons eyes at his viewing because he was born sleeping with his eyes partially open throughout his life. That's how I wanted him remembered. Though it would have freaked ppl out who weren't aware.

I dated a furnal director/owner so I got the grand tour of seeing it “live”, which Iam a nurse so nothing bothered me, except when it came to embalming a child.

@@debkski6084 embalming takes place after blood is drained from the body and embalming fluid is delivered via a tube into the body. It’s not required by law to embalm a body unless you plan to have a showing, in a funeral home or church.
Appreciate the in-depth, but not overly in-depth demonstration of the embalming and body preparation procedures embalmers go through! I definitely learned a lot from it, I never realized how much you guys have to do to prep a body for visitations and preservation! You are all very special, talented individuals and much appreciated!

Only if you have repented and FOLLOW him and keep his COMMANDMENTS.. it's not just believing and confessing with your lips.. read your OWN BIBLE and OBEY it til the END.
