I don’t know if you can help me I am try to knitt baby hat but not sure how many stitches I need for 17 inch around the head and 13 inches from ear to ear, she 6 month old I be so grateful of you help and anyone ales help
i guess I'm kinda off topic but does anyone know a good site to watch newly released series online?
@Jeremiah Ryland Flixportal :)
@Santino Kameron thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) Appreciate it!!
Hi! I just discovered your channel today and love it! I also purchased this hat pattern. As a grandma many sewing machines, I have one suggestion. Leave an opening unglued for a few inches long the seam line. That way, you can “birth” hat after sewing a continuous stitch along the edge and the closing stitches will be hidden inside.
WELCOME and thank you 🤗. Thanks so much for the idea. I think that is a much better way of doing it! I will be sure to give that a try seems a much tidier way of doing it.
I am just starting to line my hats, and I just finished a crocheted hat with ear flaps and ties for my granddaughter, so this is really helpful! I haven't finished it yet, but so far I think I've gotten right.
Wonderful! So glad it was helpful!
Just have to say I love the hat.
Beautiful..💕
Thank you for making lining a hat look easy.
Absolutely love this hat, lining and fantastic tutorial! Love your step by step helpful tips and instruction!
Thank you so much!
OMG this is a must for these Minnesota winters! About to add liners to my kiddos hats!
It makes such a HUGE difference. And nice to know that hats will be worn more because they are warmer 🙂
thank you for this. im gonna line my favorite crocheted hats..so no more brain freeze for me this winter time.😅

Thanks so much Elisa! Hasn't it been crazy!!! I don't mind the cold as long as we get the snow too :) XO
Thank you, really helpful!

Thanks so much Norma!
I crocheted myself a balaclava this winter and when I wore it out a week ago, it wasn't as warm as I needed due to the intense wind that day. Thanks for this video! I now will line my balaclava!
Wonderful great idea ;)
@@prettydarnadorable Using your instructions, I managed to line my balaclava. It's just great! Thank you so much for the tutorial.
@@ruthkoller2811, I left comment above asking for tips to line balaclava and then noticed that you did it successfully.
My kids refuse to wear their woolen hats because they sting and are itchy (even the softest merino yarn!), so I thought about lining. Do you have any tips for total beginner? :D
I mean - I totally get the concept, just though if something unexpected came up while doing it with balaclava style hat, if you know what I mean :D Thanks in advance!
@@ievapaurane5672 I was a total beginner too. I just followed the video and lined it successfully.
This is great! Thank you.
You're very welcome!
Gorgeous hat. Thanks for this great video.
Thanks so much I am so happy you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this, I don’t have a sewing machine, really help a lot :-)
I’m so glad:)
Your tutorial helped me soo much! Thank you for such a detailed and easy way to do it! Greetings from India 🇮🇳🪷🇮🇳❤
I'm so glad! Hi from Canada!
You should make more crochet videos, you crochet such cute things!!! ❤️😍 thx for this video, I’ve noticed crochet is beautiful but not very practical if you live in colder places
Thanks so much :) Aiming for one a week this year! RUclips HERE I COME LOL ;)
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial, I was wondering which way the stretch of the material goes?
You want the stretch to be lengthwise so that it wraps around your head and stretches with the hat.
I made 6 ear flap hats 6 years ago and decided to line them as well .... I didnt do a full liner as u did ---- most ppl seemed to be fine with that --- i used a heavier fleece than what u seem to use in your demo and i cut shapes that were similar to the shapes of the earflaps --- tad smaller --- i used thread that matched the ear flap and basically blanket stitched the earflap liners in ....
then i cut a wide strip of fleece and lined most of the side of that hat with that --- same technique of blanket stitch ...
One friend wanted more of a lining --- 2 years later so i cut a circle for the inside of the top of that hat --- with the heavier fleece and stitched that into the top of hat --- depending on how close u cut/stitch it and not a complete liner --- but pretty darned close ...
if i get to it ill take a photo of one of these hats to show u what the liner pieces look like in place ... i just didnt think i was talented enuf to actually make a "hat within a hat" ... but this looks pretty easy ...
thanks so much for the video!!
I would love to see - you can tag me on instagram if you are on there - prettydarnadorable
I hide my scissors too! My son when he was younger used my very expensive glass painting brush to get into the corners of a shed he was painting and then didn’t clean it! I threw a hissy fit and they all know to not take anything out of my craft room
Smart! I hide a fair amount of my things now - jeeze my house seems so much more tidy! Wonder why?? LOL
Lovethis. Easy to understand and follow. Could you please share your pattern for the hat? Thank you
So happy to hear! The pattern can be found here: www.etsy.com/ca/listing/256560596/crochet-pattern-cumberland-ski-hat
Fantastic job! Gorgeous hat!!! I've never lined my hats before but now I'm thinking about it!! I love your pattern and yarn choice!! What yarn did you use? Thank you for such a straight forward easy to follow pattern! And I'm going to get your glue too .... just a beautiful job
You are so welcome! It is Bernat Softee Baby it is incredibly soft but make sure you get the baby the regular Bernat Softee Chunky is much thicker and not as soft. :)
Thank you great tutorial! Just gave this a try and my hat after ended up too small haha. My stitches also weren’t very nice and were quite visible on the right side (I did the method she showed). I guess I gotta practice!
Could it be the yarn? Did you use bulky? I find most times that is the problem :(. Send me a photo if you like happy to take a look
Hey thanks for the reply! I think it’s the lining material didn’t have a lot of stretch and I was making the stitches too close to the edge. I was using worsted. I’ll give it a try again!
Thanks for this great video!
Any tips for lining knitted balaclava?
That is a great question and one I have given lots of thought too. The only solution I can come up with is to do the neck and hat part separately and then attach.
@@prettydarnadorable , thank you for answering! I was absolutely sure I said thanks before, but, oh, my brain fog! Thank you :)
Thank you so much! I just bought a cute cat ear flap hat, but later realized it didn't have the fleece lining in it. Your video will really help put it on. One question though, what fleece frabic did you use? Because the only fleece frabic that I know is the fleece blanket and I wasn't exactly sure if I can use that?
That is what i use - my store has a few different weights so when I can I do try to use one a bit lighter
Hello I am living in Toronto will try lining using my sewing machine
+angela noel I’m in Oakville!! Hey neighbor!
nice! I was wondering what stitch you used in that hat. It's so pretty
Thanks Darcy - there is no name for it - it is a combination of stitches I came up with a few years ago - Here is the pattern :) www.etsy.com/ca/listing/256560596/crochet-pattern-cumberland-ski-hat?ref=shop_home_active_4

Thanks for a wonderful video. Can u pl let me know where I can find a video for this hat pattern? Thanks!
I don't have one but will keep in mind as I will be starting up videos again :)
Would love to see this one crocheted💖 it’s gorgeous
Thanks for the videos. I watched your other video about lining regular hats and just adapted that for a hat with flaps, but stupid me, I didn't think to trace the hat with the ear flaps together and as a result, I have very messy ear seams. Haha. baby steps... Anyway... do you have a pattern for this hat? I love it! Thanks!
Practice makes perfect I did lots before mine came out tidy enough to wear ;) Yes I do it is the Cumberland Ski Hat here is the link to the pattern :)www.etsy.com/ca/listing/256560596/crochet-pattern-cumberland-ski-hat?ref=shop_home_active_81&pro=1
@@prettydarnadorable Thanks!!! I just got confused in another hat pattern and crocheted an ear FLAP as an ear. It made me laugh out loud all by myself when I realized what I did. haha. Yes, Practise.

This was super helpful. No seam allowance?
Also I enjoyed the bloopers 😂
I'm so glad - not sure what you mean by no seam allowance?
To you have tha pattern for the hat thank you
I do it can be found here :).

Thanks for asking!
I am looking at your Etsy store. I can do simple stitches, I can’t quite get the puff and bean stitches yet. Do you think I will be able to read the pattern and accomplish the hat? I am a visual learner and not quite a pattern reader yet. Thank you so much!
I’m a curly girl and I want to line my hats with satin to avoid messy hair when I take off the hat. Will this method work with a satin lining too?
Did you try it? How'd it go?
You should probably alter her method a little because satin frays very easily, but fleece doesn't fray at all. If you did it like this video your lining might rip off
Defiantly - however, make sure you cut the satin on the bias so that it has some stretch - if you don't have a serger and use the Liquid Stitch make sure that you spread it all the way to the ends of the fabric to reduce the amount of fraying you get. I would actually suggest using a cheap art paint brush to put it on. Good luck :)
Hello, do you have pattern available for the hat? Thanks.
I do thanks for asking.
