    Hi! I just discovered your channel today and love it! I also purchased this hat pattern. As a grandma many sewing machines, I have one suggestion. Leave an opening unglued for a few inches long the seam line. That way, you can “birth” hat after sewing a continuous stitch along the edge and the closing stitches will be hidden inside.

      You want the stretch to be lengthwise so that it wraps around your head and stretches with the hat.

    I made 6 ear flap hats 6 years ago and decided to line them as well .... I didnt do a full liner as u did ---- most ppl seemed to be fine with that --- i used a heavier fleece than what u seem to use in your demo and i cut shapes that were similar to the shapes of the earflaps --- tad smaller --- i used thread that matched the ear flap and basically blanket stitched the earflap liners in ....
    then i cut a wide strip of fleece and lined most of the side of that hat with that --- same technique of blanket stitch ...
    One friend wanted more of a lining --- 2 years later so i cut a circle for the inside of the top of that hat --- with the heavier fleece and stitched that into the top of hat --- depending on how close u cut/stitch it and not a complete liner --- but pretty darned close ...
    if i get to it ill take a photo of one of these hats to show u what the liner pieces look like in place ... i just didnt think i was talented enuf to actually make a "hat within a hat" ... but this looks pretty easy ...
    thanks so much for the video!!

      Did you try it? How'd it go?

    • @acellasky510
      @acellasky510 5 лет назад +2

      You should probably alter her method a little because satin frays very easily, but fleece doesn't fray at all. If you did it like this video your lining might rip off

    • @prettydarnadorable
      @prettydarnadorable  5 лет назад +3

      Defiantly - however, make sure you cut the satin on the bias so that it has some stretch - if you don't have a serger and use the Liquid Stitch make sure that you spread it all the way to the ends of the fabric to reduce the amount of fraying you get. I would actually suggest using a cheap art paint brush to put it on. Good luck :)
