    This is exactly the help I need! I made a beanie for my 2 year old grandson and it didn't quite cover his ears. I decided to add ear flaps, but was unsure how to do that. I was really pleased to see that you offer this help. I have it marked; now I just need to double check that I've marked it correctly and I'll be ready to roll! Thanks! Blessings!!!! 💜

      monica sheldrake Don't use many tutorials, to busy making my own so that's interesting to know! Well I don't know hot to teach anyone any other way, Point A to B to C etc. I'm a logical kinda learner so I try to teach how I would want someone to teach me. TO the point but simplified so my brain can understand it. this is why I try to explain the harder things two or three different ways, because one of those ways may hit home! So glad you enjoy the videos and thanks so much for watching and sharing!

    I started making an ear flap hat with double crochet and decided it would look nice to change to Half Double Crochet for the band. Should I continue with Half Double Crochet for the ear flaps or should I use single crochet ear flaps
    Thank you, Charlotte

    Thanks for sharing , I'm trying to make my daughter in law a hat with ear flaps, she just asked me for one. Now to pick a pattern, im liking the raspberry crochet bear hat, with a matching scarf, either that or a fern stitch, I've never done a hat with ear flaps that didn't have a pattern to it so I'm sorta winging it. So thank u for your easy tutorial !💓 💗 💛 do I make the hat full size ? Or make it a bit smaller in length and then add the ear flaps ?

    • @Meladora1
      @Meladora1  2 года назад

      I'd say make it full size, most hats don't cover the ear well enough, or at all I've found, so it really depends on the hat pattern you use. I'd aim for a hat to stop on the top portion of the ear, cause at least most hats will cover the top half of the ear, and then make the ear flap to bridge the other half of the ear. I always added braids to the ends to give the flap some weight.

    Perfect explanation!!!Have been trying for a year!! Quick question, in the video you say this hat is for a 4yr old, would you increase the amount of sc rows (before dec) for a teen or adult? thank you so much again...im in a race to finish 5 hats this week for chrIstmas LOL

    • @Meladora1
      @Meladora1  7 лет назад +1

      I don't think you would need to. It should still cover the ears well.

    Not sure how you calculate 12 stitches for a size 1-4? On a baby hat. Infant 0-6 months.

    I would like to make the ear flaps a little longer, should I start wider at the top, or is there a place that I can crochet to make it longer from the middle to tip.

    • @Meladora1
      @Meladora1  7 лет назад

      I would pick a place in the middle to stop decreasing and just do a few more rows with no decreasing until it almost reached the length you want, then finish as normal
