I've repaired a lot of appliances and electronics. This is by FAR the best, most technically descriptive video posted on any device. This is beyond trouble shooting, It describes the function of each component and shows how to test it. Nothing is left out!!

I too really liked the extra details you provided (e.g. the three different level probes in the heater tank). I fully agree with other viewer's comments: "refreshing to find someone on RUclips who actually knows what they are talking about"! I also appreciate the way this training was delivered, e.g. great lighting, camera angles, clear audio, good speaking pace, clearly pointing out the subject of each set of comments, etc. The bottom line... quality of this training is really just off-the-charts and pure goodness!

I've collected several non-working Keurig's from garage sales and with the help of your video, I now have a perfectly good functioning machine...all-toll...about $5 bucks and plenty of spare parts...More often than not, I get them free. Thanks, makes for a good rainy day project! I also enjoy working on old vacuum-tube-type radio's...

Great job! My Keurig wouldn't work any more (no water flow at all) after de-scaling, and nothing else worked until I followed your instructions. Turns out that the inside of the heating tank was heavily scaled up, in spite of frequent de-scaling efforts. I cleaned out the scale buildup, put everything back together, and it works like new. Thanks!!

A tip for everyone with the slow/no brew problem. After pressing Brew and the machine finishes pumping and actually starts to brew, hold your finger over the overflow tube. To get my 'VERY Slow flowing/dripping K145 Keurig to brew, I had to hold my finger over the overflow outlet at top of tank. It turns out this was caused by my solenoid leaking air thru it when it was supposed to be closed/ not energized (during brewing). My K145 had only one solenoid, but this video helped me disassemble the K145 and showed me how to test the solenoid. HUGE Thank You. Great Video. Only (this) one I found that did a dis-assembly and showed what internal parts did -or- should do!
So if descaling, cleaaning both upper and lower needles and verifying your tank's screen is not clogged, it may well be your solenoid. Used ones are +/- $10 on ebay.

On the Keurig 2.0, that thermal fuse (on the heater) connects directly to the hot side of the power cord. If that fuse is blown, nothing on the machine will work. No Screen, no power to the board, pumps, nothing. I used a non contact voltage tester and followed the path from the power cord to the + side of the thermal fuse and the voltage stopped on the other side of that thermal fuse. Made for an easy diagnosis and and fix for around $1.50 and back in business again.
Very good video and since mine was apart, was easy to follow most of the other components! A++++ review

After watching this video I took apart my old Keurig that would not stop humming so loud it shook our cabinets. Everything looked great all the lines were perfect. The only thing I could see with a yellowish tint was on the water intake boot met the pump. I removed the pump after disassembling it I found loads of rust inside and out fell a three-tier plastic with metal hollow cylinder with one hole through the side of the center cylinder. Rust wrapped around this whole peice. Needless to say happy we bought a new one and I now have a whole bunches of really good Keurig parts.

This video exposed how much more there was to repairing this same model. I was so happy to have had it. It finally quit pumping water at all, leading me to believe it’s the exact same pump since everything else worked. You should see the new one I got to replace it yesterday. It makes Fisher Price look like it’s for adults. I got it from Amazon for $105.00.
The model in the video is a Cadillac. The new one is a Chevy cavalier.

I truly appreciate your video & information regarding this coffee maker. Most importantly you know of what you speak which is obviously important but not necessarily a reality in many videos!

Found the problem in the very first test. Nobody ever explains in many of the online instructions how to separate the K-cup holder to allow access the needle. Bingo, full of grounds. get the needle cleaning tool that a lot of them came with or can buy it. you put water in it and it uses suction to pull coffee grounds out of needle. a lot easier then paperclip.

Our Keurig coffee maker wasn't making coffee with the pods. I did find that the reusable ones we bought worked fine. The other half was ready to throw it out. I had a feeling it was an easy fix and found your video. I only needed to go as far as the paperclip part, although I did use a toothpick thinking it might be a little more gentle and I couldn't find a paperclip as easily as a toothpick. My machine works great now. Thank you! We are on a pretty tight budget so buying a new one would have taken some doing.

Anyone who gave your video a thumbs down were obviously overwhelmed by the "Highly Detailed" (as noted in your description) professional and technical information. Great video. I never would attempt to disassemble my Keurig, without watching your vid first. No need to drill out the rivet that holds the ground wires. Snip the wires with a wire cutter. At the plate, twist (or solder) the three wire stubs. At the other side of the cut, do the same thing. Connect a crimp-on terminal to each set of 3 wires. Now next time you need to remove the bottom plate, just pull the connector apart. When reinstalling the plate, connect the 2 connectors together.
Oh yea, the thing on the left that holds water, that you removed after making sure the cup and funnel were not clogged, and before doing anything else. It's not a "side." It's a water reservoir.

He is very knowledgeable, but he has way too much time on his hands. This procedure is not for the faint of heart. Also, it's obvious he had no intention of ever putting it back together (hence the hammer and the comments about using the parts for something else). That's the hard part :). But like Don was indicating... now I now know it's time to spend another $100.

Great video! I have a B60 which appears to be identical to the silver one in the video. I ultimately found that a guest apparently used it and attempted to run brewed coffee through it by placing coffee in the tank...I found it not drawing water from the tank and going to 'prime' error. Ultimately turned out that one or more tubes were clogged because of lots of coffee residue in the silicon tubing leading from the tank to the water pump, in the tubing leading to the top of the brewing tank. I had to disassemble, clean out several of the tubes, pump impeller and check valve after which it worked great.
A couple of notes on this video. In my machine (B60) that screw far up in the housing did not need to be removed with a long screw driver....it holds the top panel but not the housing. But, I found an extra clip next to that screw which was holding the housing and did need the long screwdriver to unhook. Getting the three clips loose was by far the hardest part of the exercise....why Keurig puts them there is beyond me because the thing is solid without them. I ended up cutting off the part of the housing where those clips hook and leaving the clips for alignment only. The screws at the bottom hold the whole thing together nicely without those silly clips. If I ever need to take the thing apart again it will be a breeze.
    Thanks again for the video.

Awesome video! When you took it apart I couldn't believe how yellowed the tube were from the coffee. YUCK! I just picked this one up. And the problem with this one is, it doesn't brew a full cup. I ran several cycles of just water through it. And every brew smelled like coffee. One thing that I haven't tried yet was rescaling it.

Great teardown video: identifying and demonstrating all the major components and how to test each one. If any of those parts are bad, I suspect it's not easy or economical to get direct-fit replacement parts. Might as well junk it and buy a new one. Planned obsolescence? Thanks. I wondered what was inside that thing! It is a technical marvel. Obviously they are not making money on the sale of the machine! Mine started to get slow and making smaller cups of coffee. The "Descale" light came on so I followed some instructions to pour 10 OZ of white vinegar into the tank. Actually I had to put 20 OZ into it to satisfy the water level. All was fine, I was cycling several cups of vinegar through the machine, through a coffee filter to catch debris and back through the machine again. At some point it stopped pumping. I tried the usual tricks, paper clip to clean the piercing needle on the outlet from tank. Used a turkey baster to force water. No good. Finally I took apart the head of the unit and removed the outlet check valve and filled the heating tank from above. Voila, It now works. Something that had clogged, probably preventing the pump to prime, now clear. That black filter unit or a solenoid might be troublesome. I will have to keep using i to see if keeps going.

Good video, I was working a unit identical to the first one used for disassembly. very detailed in the component testing. Oddly, removal of the hidden screw was not required. That screw holds the display mount to the silver top cover. Nothing to do with disassembly, unless you want to remove the display after disassembly. There is however a third clip next to the screw that actually prevented the removal of the guts. I replaced the “hidden” screw before reassembly and the unit went together without an issue

not having a long enough Philips to completely dismantle the device, I found that the one way valve under the top cover was the culprit. The valve itself was stuck. I just removed it, forced air to open it up again, and it worked. I am now the office hero.

It can also be the fine mesh filter in the
removable water chamber is partially or fully clogged with hard water
sediment. Removing the filter with a long Philips head screw driver is
required. I suppose if you had a large enough amount of vinegar to set
the reservoir in that could work also. Cleaning the keurig machine
directly will not work. The filter needs to be immersed in strong
vinegar or Keurig machine cleaner and rinsed out and then the soak
repeated. This will solve the problem in most cases
I disassembled my keurig to fix it.
It was worse then this easy fix.
I recommend anyone do this as a LAST RESORT ! LOL
    Great Video Series !

It's been quite a while since there has been activity on this post. However, if you're still monitoring comments, I would certainly appreciate some advice. My Kuerig continually pumps water when it's powered on...basically till the reservoir runs empty. What could cause this issue? A bad solenoid? I have a Kuerig b70 platinum. And I've done all the initial cleaning, inspection, descaling steps.

bob marker - distilled water is a no no on these. Those 3 metal probes at the end of the video are used to measure the water level electrically. If you use distilled water there is not way for current to flow and hence will screw up the maker. Mineral in the regular water is expected so these probes will work correctly.. just fyi

    • @condor5635
      @condor5635 3 года назад

@@bobmarker6812 The water level low indicator doesn’t have anything to do with the conductivity of the water Bob. The low water level is sensed by black circular magnetic float disc and a sensor that you can see inside of the water tank. To conductivity of the water is important for the three levels of water dispersement small, medium and large. So if you saw any issues it would be in its ability to properly meter the brew size. You may not of seen that either I don’t know. But the 3 rods inside the fill tank are used to determine what amount of water to pump and they rely on the conductivity of the water to function properly.

Great tutorial. On 6:30 you mention to need to have a long philips screwdriver to remove the hidden screw. I found out you also need a long flat screw driver to unlock the latch that is next to this philips screw driver. That way the entire top is released without having to mess with the two other latches on the back that you mentioned are inaccessible.
