- Heard about it read about it finally happened to me. My next one would be a juvenile in a massive tank at the get-go. #goliathtigerfish #africantigerfish #monsterfishroom
Definitely a fish i would use at least a 3 sided background with.
Awww man. That sucks but thanks for sharing.
Thanks mate, but will surely revisit GATF again one day, they are such beautiful creature.
Damn, that sucks, I think some cover would help in the future, I have a group of acestros and I use artificial terrarium plants stuck to the top and line the sides with artificial plants and they almost never run into the sides, I had an odoe as well -same setup and same good result and so far it’s working with my tiger fish and wolf fish. Hope you get another and good luck!
Yea man, that would definitely help, or just give it a big tank from the get-go. Thanks man, I will definitely give it another go when I have a huge huge tank in place, they are very majestic to watch really.
What are you keeping now mate?
@@josephaquaria2051 Ya tigers are awesome, I have one that I was told was a forkshali but I think it’s a vatattus. It’s about 7” in a 120, so far so good. I also have a group of red tailed cudas, Hujeta, sharp nose pike cichlid, green severum, geo sveni, granny catfish , horse head cat and group of silver dollars in a 180 as well as 40g with a dragon puffer.
If that tiger is a VATF, I guess a bigger tank is in my future lol
What else do you have?
@@josephaquaria2051 I almost forgot, I also have Malabaricus wolf in another tank, and Delhezi and a mystery knife fish in the 180
@@NotSure876 I love red/yellow tailed cudas, what size are yours now? I have most of the Hoplias except Lacerdae which I would love to have one day, and also a bunch of the smaller tetras. Am working on creating an Amazon tank next.
Keep strong bro.. sorry for your lost.
.
Hey mate thanks for your kind words. Will surely revisit this species one day when I have more resources in place.
I would put him in a big tank or pond immediately, but problem is the big fish in the pond will eat anything under 8 inches. So I would need a big enough Goliath
Yea mate, start them off in a big big tank from the get-go....
I would have to look for a Goliath that is above 10” and thankfully I found one, definitely putting it with my 2ft armatus that’s on the way in the 5000 gallon
These fish are amazing but too big to keep
yea mate, and nothing is ever big enough for them...so skip the Goliaths, Vittatus would be the next best thing for a decent size home set-up...
sorry for your loss
thanks mate. quite a waste really.
Sorry bro, I know how it feels. Good channel. 👍
Hey thanks man! Will definitely have another Goliath tiger in the future.
Ah man sorry for the loss ... This is why I have doubts keeping Goliaths, expensive and need massive space. For anyone If you don't have a massive tank or pond, better to keep other species of tiger fish.
Thanks mate, and yes, massive space from the get-go. No moving around after that. That way they grow a lot faster too.
Goliath tiger fish have other species ?
@@mamu7k461 Tiger Fish group does but there's only just one kind of Goliath Tiger Fish. Tiger Fish has Vittatus, Forsakhlii and 1-2 more maybe. Then there's Red Tail Baraccuda which looks like a gatf mini
@@liesozo5275 I have vittatus and gaft saiz 2feet. Combine with wolffish. One year already
How much does that fish cost ? I saw tons of em in my local fish store but didn’t ask
Hey mate, I think we should be looking at the range of USD80-150 around the world depending on sizes. They are not that expensive but the cost of their big home can be if you want to do it properly.
@@josephaquaria2051 shit bro they are going for 200+ usd in the states
@@boostedbadboyzx12r31 yea man, I find everything aquarium related is more expensive in the States, especially the tanks.
For me
1. Put Wave maker (low)
2. Dont put light in tank
3. Dont to much look at tank
4. Put small fish tank much as you can (food)
5. Put medium fish for goliath bully him
6. Leave him alone in dark tank
(Sorry bad english)
Yes mate, you're right. Or, put him in a huge 2000 gallons from the get-go and everything would be so much easier to overcome.
gimana caranya
Sometimes you can stretch the fish out and the nerves will work again from being crushed together.
OMG
What size was the tank he’ was in ?
A disaster waiting to happen 4x2x2 holding tank mate...he was days away from a 10x5x5 final home
Size and age when he passed ?
hey mate, not that big, just about 12", and slightly over 1 year under my care from few inches big.
That sucka bro I thought African cichlids were hard
Yea man. Actually it isn't that hard for African tiger fish as long as you can give them a big home, other than that, they are super hardy.
Could you save him? The same thing happened to my Monoculous P Bass. With some permanent neurological damage, with the grace of God, I could save her. Currently she’s doing fine but some issues remained unfortunately. I love her so much.
Hey mate, this fish died about 2 weeks later all the while under that condition. It's very hard to reverse neurological damage especially when it comes to fishes.
@@josephaquaria2051 I was fairly lucky here.
Can I keep a Goliath tigerfish in a 8 length tank permanently?
I think they grow to 5 feet or more in the wild.
Even if they only get to 3.5 feet in a fish tank, that doesn’t leave much swimming and turning space.
Why not get a school of piranhas or buck tooth tetras, if you want some very aggressive predatory fish.
You could get 40 buck tooth tetras in a 5 foot tank.
nunca se mezclan peces chicos con grandes
estar de acuerdo
What was the tank size he was in 😪😬 sorry for the loss
Thanks mate, it was a mere 4 feet holding tank. Mistake on my part really.
Looks like it was dying of Oxygen deprivation? What was your filtration %
Hey mate, it was actually from an internal injury sustained from slamming into the glass too hard, a common issue with the tigerfish especially Goliath when the space is less than ideal.
He was ok one moment and then next I heard a loud thud and he went belly up and straight into a fit of sort. I had him a tad too long in the less than ideal holding tank.
A dude on RUclips has them in a nice sized pond and they’re flourishing
I feel sorry for him .... :(
Same here bro. One moment he was perfectly beautiful and then next he was in a place of no return.
He would've been a very nice adult specimen eventually.
What happen?
Went straight into the glass at high speed mate... a common thing with African tiger fish....easily spooked...
That fish neeedddd a big big big aquarium
Yes mate indeed, he was just days away from his 2000 gallons :-(
@@josephaquaria2051 2000 gallons is just a little bathtub for a fish that can grow 5 feet and over 100lbs you dumbass.
@@moseskongi4746 What you've said is not wrong mate, I mean 2000g is not big, big, but we do try our best in housing them properly. Would love to have 5x that volume when I do have the space and the resources but till then I will surely stay clear of GATF. What a beautiful creation though. Cheers mate!
unless you keep him in a 5000 gallon pond(like me)
hey mate, that's an awesome size. Could you share with me some photos or videos? would love to see these majestic creatures in huge environment
@@josephaquaria2051 i'm not in the house now. I'm afraid it should be a few months before i can even see it. But whatsoever, he's just past a foot when i video called my friend last night so... Now i only have my cat aside
They grow painfully slow, take off some scale of my koi and masheer. Their fins just short :P
@@josephaquaria2051 my stocking is quite like this( with smaller bambusa and 1 goliath, the rest is vittatus)
ruclips.net/video/CqZCN1hu3X8/видео.html
@@ccn5065 alright mate, do really hope to see your pond and the Tigers one day!
Such a fish is not for a home aquarium.
Yes mate, I have to agree with you on this, but if we really want to do it, we need to commit a huge huge tank right from the get go, then it might work.
@@josephaquaria2051 Here they die of old age ruclips.net/video/1Uz80SSJp7w/видео.html
@@user-uw9tq3wz8o Very nice man, is that your tank mate?
:(
What happen bro
Hey bro, he got spooked and ran straight into the side of the tank hard, severely injuring his head and spinal cord.
Must be a stupid fish lol
