Quick peek into how the Aimara wolf fish is today after moving into his own monster aquarium. 0 to 2 feet was fast growth, but it has since slowed down quite noticeably. Doesn't eat as often and as enthusiastically. Man, I need it to be 3-4 feet, like tomorrow lol.

When you don't feed your African tiger fish consistently...
It is the best fish in the world I had Wolf aimara and lost it 1 year ago😢
Indeed mate, sorry to hear but what happened to yours? Jumped?
Hey man! I have a 400 gallon tank with caves made out of slate, 3 concrete blocks covered in algae, java moss randomly placed around tank, a lot of java moss balls and anubias too, I really want a Hydrocynus forskahlii, but I have my golden giant gourami, and fire eel in the tank. none of the fish are eally agressive at all and are adult sizes. could the combination work if I add the Hydrocynus forskahlii? Also 1 more thing, if it can work, you think I can add my leopard bush fish? he is like 7 inches. Sorry to bombard you with qeustions, but I really am interested in the tiger fish.
Hey mate, can't believe it has been 2 months since you left a message here, time flies! Objectively, since you're so interested in a tiger fish, you should go for it or else you will never know what it's like to have one. Having said that, you should also be prepared that it may or may not work in the long run, a common situation for most Tiger fish keepers out there, even if it's a Forsk and not a big Goliath in your case. There are just too many factors in play when it comes to Tiger in captivity, even when you're trying your best to do everything right. Your tank is definitely not small by any standard but nothing is ever big enough for Tiger, and you do have some decor pieces and as for other species in the tank, sometimes they might be a good thing to the overall balance of things, but sometimes not :-) So if it's not too cost prohibitive to own one, and that you will not lose 2 weeks sleep over a bad outcome down the road, go for it but do so knowing that among all the fishes you have, this will never be the one to last the longest.
Hey man! I have a 210 gallon tank absolutely covered in java moss, jova moss balls, and anubias. I have a fire eel in it, along with like 3 african pike charcins, and my siamese tiger fish. Would adding a black wolf make the tank become way too overstocked, would it be too agressive, is the tank big enough, and will it kill everything??
dont put a aimara with other fish is my recommendation :) i have a wolf fish myself they do best pretty much alone
Aimara is getting bufff ! Any update on the tiger by the way ?
Yo bro is actually growing
yea man, perhaps the growth is more obvious to you guys than me seeing him daily.
Can we see your others wolf?
Bro long time no see he is getting huge 👌
Yea man bro, been busy with life, hope all is well with you. And yes, he's huge especially when seen in the flesh. Even my other smaller Suriname variant is fast hitting 18 inches 🙂
Grace in a wolf fish ....... ❤
Post video of yh3 suriname bro definitely one of my dream aimara locations @@josephaquaria2051
you think I could keep a marbled sleeper goby with my fire eel and mandarin perch? the tank is 210 btw
shouldn't be a problem mate, just make sure he gets his food.
Your aimara is incredible i have just got ones my guy is a Venezuela one thats around 11 inches l. My question for you is do you feed live as well as dead or frozen?
thanks man, I have got another smaller one from Suriname, around 18 inches now, a lot more fearsome in character. I try to feed only live if possible, ie frogs and big feeder fishes, you get to see more aggressive behaviour. Dead/frozen makes them lazy in my opinion.
Do think a 18 inch Vittatus will eat a 5 inch swordtail? Cause I dont wanna feed him goldfish.
for sure mate, if the Tiger is hungry enough he will take anything.
Do think a 18 inch Vittatus will eat a 5 inch swordtail? Cause I dont wanna feed him goldfish.
That’s it I’m buying a Aimara wolf fish and it’s your fault 😂
and may I add, one Aimara is never enough lol
Epic setup ❤
What kind of cichlid do you recommend for feed breeding?
Are alligator and spotted gar compatible with aimara
Mirip ikan betutu
Can I keep a Goliath tigerfish in a 8 length tank permanently?
I think they grow to 5 feet or more in the wild. Even if they only get to 3.5 feet in a fish tank, that doesn’t leave much swimming and turning space. Why not get a school of piranhas or buck tooth tetras, if you want some very aggressive predatory fish. You could get 40 buck tooth tetras in a 5 foot tank.
Yes, you can keep but it should be like this, 8x4x2.
A dude on RUclips has them in a nice sized pond and they’re flourishing
Tank size??
Are you in the UK or Australia mate? Also what is your tap water hardness like? Cheers!
Definitely a fish i would use at least a 3 sided background with.
Beautiful channas. Can they be kept together in pairs? Also which Channa species is the most aggressive?
Thanks mate, for some channas yes but this Auranti species can be quite territorial so best kept alone, and you get to enjoy its character more that way. I would say the giant Micropeltes perhaps?
How big now bro?
Hey mate, a bit hard to get accurate measurement now that he's in the big tank but I would say at best just 2 feet and some. Slow growth, eats every other 2-3 days.
@@josephaquaria2051 awesome man how big is your micropeltes
So this one vittatus or goliath one? As far as i know vittatus more yellow on all overbody, goliath red on tail
hey mate, this is a Vittatus. Colours and other traits aside, Goliath is very easy to spot even at juvenile stage. Look at the head and jawline/snout, more profound, more T-rex like if you get what I mean 🙂
@@josephaquaria2051 ahh i see okayy, thankyou very much for the info .. if i pet goliath with tank 3M length x 1,5M width x 1,5M height would it be enough for goliath? And if i pet vittatus and goliath will it be fight the tankmates?
@@nathanaelrolando4470 you're welcome mate. The tank size you mentioned is very big, almost the size of this tank you see here. With a tank that size, you stand a very high chance of growing a small Goliath well into the 2-3 feet range with low risk of him slamming into the sides and die (the no.1 cause for most Goliath's death). Having said that, no tank is ever big enough for an adult Goliath, so you might still eventually lose him due to that no.1 cause of death, we've seen many cases of such but then you would've had the fish for many years already before that happens.
as for tank mates it depends, the Tigers need to be very well fed all the time or else everything is potential food. And they might fight among their own too, the dominant Tiger will slowly take out the weaker ones one by one over time.
but with a big tank like what you've mentioned above, you do have a higher success rate in making everything work, and for a longer period of time.
Mines 18 inches maybe bigger. I will always house some sort of predator fish till the day I die. Got two red belly’s as well. When they die I want a blue diamond piranha, caribe or,piraya.
Hey mate 18 inches is impressive. Is he/she still eating on a daily basis and on what diet?
@@josephaquaria2051 yes salmon but you have to pull the skin off it. It’s been a battle feeding went from earth worms to frozen mice. The mice were messy. Made the tank nasty, he got sick a couple times and I tried salmon. Been on that for a few months same as my two piranha.
@@Blunderbuss1982 have you tried live frogs mate?
@@josephaquaria2051 no I have not! I’d have to catch them and house them might end up being a pain. They don’t sell them to buy locally unless it’s a pet frog etc gonna cost some money I don’t really have.
Beautiful tank and fish, what was the growth rate the fist two years👍
Thanks mate! I would say easily 1.5 to 2 feet with good water quality and feeding. I guess it's in their genes to grow as fast as possible from few inches big in order to ensure survival in the wild.
Hey joseph remember how big it was when u got him and how big he was in 1 year? Just trying to see comparison with mine to see if mine is growing at a good pace
@@predatoria_aquatica hey mate hope all is well with you. I can't recall the exact details but I think it's not far fetched to say that in one year one can easily surpass 12 inches or more with good water, space and feeding? To me it's almost like visible daily growth from 3-4 inches before hitting a bit of slowdown around 18 inches mark. This big guy here doesn't even eat daily anymore, like once every two days now.
By the way I've just added a smaller Aimara (Suriname), pretty excited as I get to savour daily visible growth again lol. Will share some videos soon.
That tank one of the best scapes etc ive ever seen wow well d9ne budd looks amazing gulper catfish would love that
thanks mate!
@@josephaquaria2051 welcome budd awsome tank
Looks awesome
thanks mate !
Wow the fish must love a tank that big! You rock dude!
Thanks man, I really love seeing fishes behaving in their most natural behaviour 🙂
How old is your hoplias aimara
I would say about 1.5 years but was underfed for a period of about 6 months due to house moving mate...
Sad looking tank poor fish
No doubt mate, I don't really like that kind of set-up too, too sterile and small, but I had too much on my plate that time, ie availability of fish and arrival timing etc. Today he's a happy fish in a huge nature scape tank and knowing what I know now, add slowly, and no (less) impulsive purchases lol. Cheers man.
@@josephaquaria2051Nah that aint a sad tank , if its sad he wouldnt be so active . Personally as long as he has the space to move and have lots of food, it is a happy fish
@@Eli-fu1vf thanks mate for the positivity :-)
@@josephaquaria2051how big is he now?
@@Eli-fu1vf 2 feet-ish, and noticeably slowing down, length wise but putting on girth. Will post an update soon mate 🙂
How much gallon is that tank ?
Way too small mate, only 4x1.5x1.5 feet. He stayed there for a short transitory period.
hi mi a si joseph
Ahh you put them together are you planning tp keep them together?
Actually no mate, you see that blue divider there, they were supposed to be divided but then one of them jumped thru the small gap at the top lol.
I separated them after this video. I think raising them solo is more fun.
I want to ask you something. I am going to have a wolf fish Aimara. How big the fish tank has to be when the aimara is fully grown? I want it to reach the max size of the aimara in a ideal environment.
As you know, aimaras are known to size up to 1m 20cm. I want to make a healthy monster in my fish tank.
hey mate, I've seen Aimaras hitting 75cm range in tank sizes of 6x3x3 or even less with no issues as the fish doesn't really need a lot of space to move around much, so the daily behaviour is just eating and parking around, which to me is not the best way to fully enjoy the fish so in my case now I'm experimenting a 2 footer fish in a 10x5x5 tank, to see how a big space affects how fast and how big a fish gets.
And this is what I get to enjoy so far. With the new length and depth of water, I get to see some new fast swimming actions, both vertical and horizontal, but mainly only during feeding time lol. When the fish is full, it's back to docile behaviour. I will share some feeding videos soon.
so to your question, if you're starting off with a 4-5 inches fish, you will have a great time growing it in anything 5-6 feet, preferably with enough depth and height too. That growing phase is the best.
@@josephaquaria2051 thank you soooooo much! I hope your aimara can reach the prime size. Keep in touch.
Awesome!
thanks mate! glad you can relate 🙂
Tank is awesome!!
thanks mate! glad you can relate to the whole vibe 🙂
They are beautiful how many cricket do you give them?
thanks mate, about 3-4 juicy ones over one day but not all at once, they tend to get into issues with over feeding.
Are you keeping them at room temperature 20 21c? And you just have a sponge filter and i cant believe that is the same Tiger fish for real??
yes mate, just room temperature and just sponge filter for now but very frequent water change...they need pristine water actually and not overfeeding ...they tend to get intestinal issue and hole in the head quite easily if parameter is bad...am about to set up a proper 4 feet tank for them.
not kidding you mate, its really the same fish...the temporary holding tank is only 6 feet so a strong and skittish him is not a good combo during this period but they do regain everything back pretty fast...
These fish are amazing but too big to keep
yea mate, and nothing is ever big enough for them...so skip the Goliaths, Vittatus would be the next best thing for a decent size home set-up...
very beautiful fish
yea man....can't wait for them to get bigger...🙂
second one need hiding spots and floating plants. probably doesnt like bright light too
yea man...but at the same time I'm also trying to condition and train him otherwise. btw which one do you like more personally? 🙂
How big will they get?
hey mate I think 2 feet ish is not a problem...imagine that amount of colour and markings on a 2 feet canvas 🙂
You had 2 Amira the light one and dark one the dark one you lost right the more aggressive one?
hey mate, yes you have good memory :-) the one with the shorter snout and dark, what a sad sad loss really coz since then I've not been able to find another one that aggressive.
I had both I sold my darker much more aggressive one but really regret it big time you are right I'm looking for one again but it's really hard to get a darker one again
Ferocious predator wold fish 🐠🐋🐟💪💪💪
😎🐟
Nice!!! How many gallons?
thanks mate, it's 10x5x5 feet so I guess it's 1800-ish gallons?
Nice looking fish
thanks mate!
Indoor Pond? Nice aimara..just got a VZ one as well.
thanks mate, I love love Aimara, hopefully one day I can lay my hands on a Lacerdae too.
I do have an indoor pond but this is a temporary ply wood shallow tank to house these guys until I get his/her 10x5x5 ready...almost there mate!
Good to see you back 👌
How long did it take for her to accept frogs all the time or is it just a treat? I’ve been trying to feed mine live leopard frogs she only ate 3 and after that she won’t take them. Even after a few days of not eating. She loves her frozen fish though.
