I've used electronic cinema cameras. They are basically gigantic immovable canons that cost $300,000, but they can zoom to like 2000mm at some insanely wide aperture. It's insane.

@@ephektz exactly. I'm was working with the zoom F8n the past two days which makes it even easier. If you want you can easily work with Timecode, you got enough channels for radio mics and boom and so many more possibilities. Of course that's more expensive but you can get that way cheaper in the f4 as well and if you compare it to camera prices it's nothing. Invest in your audio guys. Still does what I need it to do - sure, useable iso maxes out at 1600 for images, but you can always through some grit at it in post for images or video. Best money I've spent on a camera: Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro. Ordered it the day it was announced. I started using it about 10 days later. Paid it off on the first job. When they added Blackmagic Raw via a firmware update, it got even better. Super35 is the perfect sensor size for me and I can swap the mount between EF and PL in my office in a few minutes. We've put it through the wringer and it just keeps on making great images.

They really dominate the Aps-c camera range as they make that their professional cameras and after that skip straight to £10K+ medium format cameras.
Sony have a few that come close but their lenses are vastly more expensive.

For shooting vlogs in a room with controlled lighting, I recommend that people on a tight budget get a super-old camera and spend money on audio and lighting. You can get a camera that shoots video for under $100, but probably spending a bit more gets you something that can really benefit from great lighting.

    • @UltraNyan

For under 100 you will get a Nikon d3100 with kit lens that has slow autofocus. It looks like shit smeared across screen although its 1080 24p. You will end up spending 400 dollars on lightning to get any decent picture. And if you go out... well don't... cause it will look bad... really bad.

Surprised you didn't suggest any MFT setups. We currently Sony A7III's and BMPCC4k's on our show, but a GH5 or G9 with a native lens is probably one of the best deals going in terms of getting into video production today. You can also get a BMPCC4k with a full set of three Olympus 1.8 primes for way less than $3000 and that is an amazing kit for any aspiring DP -- and that includes BRAW and a full DaVinci license. To recommend a BMPCC4k and a speed booster seems to be adding unnecessary expense. If buying a BMPCC4k new, just get native glass. There are some amazing options in the MFT format.

For anyone in the compact mirrorless market, definitely look at Fujifilm. Their 18-55 2.8-4 ‘kit’ lens is very good (it’s a disservice to call it a kit lens) and it has image stabilization (most of their bodies don’t). Their bodies punch way above their weight class for video features and they are excellent photography cameras. And you can get excellent looking video straight out of camera with the eterna film simulation. The XT-4 is coming out soon, so look for cheap XT-3s. The XH-1 might be the best video camera for the money, if you can still find one.

@@Iamz123 those cine lenses seem awesome!!! I wanna invest like that just don't find it justifiable right now. I have the m50 with the 15-45 a older yonguno 50 1.8 and the 75-300 kit lens. I noticed with the speedbooster the 75-300 is a much more awesome lens I think stabilizing it will be great like the 75-300 is usm which is about 100 bucks. I'm also considering a faster wide angle lens. Particularly under 150 bucks I've found the sigma 28-70 f2.8-4 and the 28-135 f3.5-5.6. I know L lenses are much crisper and better all around just don't know if I'ma find it necessary...esp over the bump in performance the speedbooster allows for these cheaper lenses.

ZigsVision depending on your situation, if you’re getting video jobs, then the Rokinon Cine lenses are a no-brainier. They’re so cheap, and the image is so fucking tasty that it’d be a bad idea not to invest in them for professional work. I was originally doing work for friends and family who worked for or knew people with businesses so I was just using my kit lenses and the 50mm, but then I started to do more work on a higher level so I wanted to get some more lenses that would make the image quality not only better, but more consistent (since the 50mm and the kit lenses have a different look, but the Cine lenses have a more consistent look). I loved them, and that’s why I decided to go for the Xeen lens instead of an L-series or something like that. The build quality of the Cine lenses aren’t as good (a bit of plastic here and there) but from my experience, it’s 100% worth the lenses, and they boost the production value and it looks fucking awesome to have a set of lenses like that. As long as you don’t have a problem with adjusting things every now and then you’ll love them.

2nd I don't personally use a speedbooster cause I have a canon camera and I do like their autofocus. In terms of speedboosters, potatojet has a video on the canon m50 version of the viltrox speed booster but I think they sell a micro 4/3 version
For lenses to put on the speedbooster, you'll need full frame EF lenses not APS-C EF-S. I like and use the yongnuo 50 1.8 because it's cheaper than the canon one (but the build quality and auto focus aren't the best) and for $100 AU you can't go wrong. I'm borrowing the 24 2.8 EF from a family member and it's pretty good (there is an EF and an EF-S version, the EF costing more). Potatojet made a video called " my favourite kinda affordable full frame lens" and I haven't personally tried it, but 85mm is my favourite focal length and the 50 1.8 nearly achieves that with the cropped sensor
Edit: make sure to watch reviews and get the right speedbooster and lens(es) for you. Also, make sure before purchasing that the speedbooster has the correct mount for your camera and lens(es)

Sure, compressed codecs suck, but you can get away with them if you're careful about lighting. I think I saw Gene in a lot of videos talk really good about it. What holds me personal a bit back with this cam: I have the feeling you need a lot of accessories to get most out of this cam, so the price goes up as well. The cool about a cam like the eos r is that you get a good all around package with the stabilisation, the nd filter adapter, auto focus and the small size. So it's pretty easy to use. (I know the eos r the best so I take it as reference). Of course with the black magic you can get a better picture (raw), and of course better 4k. But you allways need to pull focus manually, grad raw footage a lot etc. So sometimes you need a bit more time with it. But as allways, every cam (especially in this price range) has it's pro and cons.

People spending thousands for a RUclips camera are wasting money, when a 1000 or less camera will produce good quality. I really dislike pushing phones as a creative tool ... especially when the cost is more than a good camera ... Now people are rigging out those phones which make the cost absurd.

Is there someone from Canon or Sony that threatens you with a gun? Why no word about the Z6? 4k full frame with no crop and 4k in apsc mode. Cheaper than Sony and Canon and Video RAW with an external recorder. It's not a bad camera!

yes this helps trick the RUclips compression to allow higher bitrates on your 1080p video. It makes your 1080p videos look better on youtube

For sub $500 you can pick up a little used EOS1D range and with all the money you saved you can get some seriously nice glass. ! And these cameras are as good today as they were when they 1st came out.
