I’m a 62yr old mum from Australia who fricking loves this band. My son found them as a teenager and played them at home and I loved them. I have their music in the car so loud it rattles the windows, and people give me weird looks as though someone my age should not be doing that anymore. I don’t care! My son is such a Rammstein boy, he has one tattoo and it is their logo on his upper arm. He got,to meet Til in Melbourne when he came here on a promo for Lindemann and had his photo taken with him. I was so jealous but wasn’t going to make him take his mum. 😅 PS It’s not blood, it’s fire protective gel.

It's not fire protection gel respectively not only. They made a mixture of instant Coffee and other dark stuff to have Something that looks like blood. Some day some of them realised that they couldn't sleep after a concert. The reason was that their skin received so much cofein from this mixture as if they drank a bunch of espressi. So they switched to instand coffee without cofein.

Rammstein has always been such a heavy, powerful industrial-metal group. As you can see, their live shows can just be insane. Kind of makes me wish I had ever got to see them in concert. Till’s voice is incredibly low and dark, especially with his more spoken type parts. In fact, I still remember being somewhere in the late ‘90s with a bunch of friends at the time, and somebody had their debut CD. When it was playing, one of the girls who was hanging out said he had such a “deep, evil voice.” But I think it suits their music perfectly.

The vocals are one thing, but the connection between the singer/band and the audience and the presence on stage is insane. And: you have to take into consideration, that this concert was given in Paris: thousands of FRENCH people, singing GERMAN - absolutely amazing, I think this is next level! The shows are insane - fireworks all over the place, you get the feeling, that they are about to burn down the location, they set each other on fire - insane, absolutely insane. And: no injuries whatsoever - I think that this is the most fascinating part 😂 many years ago the show with Apocalyptica as support was the best show I have ever seen in my entire life. I’m sure all have either music videos or live videos to accompany them somewhere. You really can’t go wrong with Rammstein tbh - so energetic and easy to listen to, (good for workouts too, haha) and - as you’ve seen here - they always put 110% into their performances. I love Till (the vocalist), I want to give him a big hug even though he’s so intimidating. 😂 As someone who came from a pop/dance background before getting into metal, these guys and Nightwish were two of my many ‘bridges’ so to speak.

Your pronunciation of "Rammstein" was very appropriate. While I have to point out that the R isn't rolled in regular German, Till Lindeman, the singer of Rammstein, famously does just that as a stylistic element. Also, yes, shooting fireworks over the heads of the audience is quite safe - if you're Rammstein. They do stuff like that all the time; Till is a licensed pyrotechnician and their live shows are just crazy with fire and explosions.

From a vocalist perspective, you should definitely check out "Zeit" and maybe some other songs the lead singer Till Lindemann did for his solo project like "Wer weiß das schon?" or the collaboration with the french singer Zaz, "Le jardin des larmes".
It's so funny to think about it, but Till Lindemann originally started as a drummer. All of the band members came from the late GDR and after the fall of the wall, they wanted to do something new as most of their bands fell apart. So they needed a singer and Till Lindemann was a kinda shy but good looking and impressive guy, so that's why they wanted him as a band leader. Due to his vocal limitations at the time, they created a very iconic version of the Sprechstimme.
As a German growing up in the '90s, I always saw Rammstein as sort of a satire. During this time, you couldn't watch German TV without listening to Schlager. Schlager is a very shallow and simple form of music which was predominantly listened to by older people. The lyrics were as simple as the melodies - it was always about an idyllic and idealized form of "love" and happiness and rainbows and everything sexual was expressed in a euphemistic way.
Rammstein always felt like the dark counterpart to it. On the first album, "Herzeleid" (heartache in English) literally every song (except "Rammstein") was about "love" - in all the deviant and totally psychopathic ways like love with dead bodies ("Heirate mich"), predatory behavior ("Du riechst so gut") and murder ("Weißes Fleisch"). They used the name "Rammstein" in reference to a terrible air show disaster at Ramstein Air Base in 1988. During the air show, aircrafts collided while trying to perform a heart-forming group. This detail might have been the inspiration for the name of the group - especially since it was a theme all along. Love in all of its destructive forms.
So, to me, that's why it always felt like clever satire. Very dark metal music, but always somewhat simplistic, much like Schlager music. But of course the band has evolved over the years, the music has become more complex and the themes used a bit more numerous. Till Lindemann has also grown a lot as a singer over the decades. But the symbolism and the characteristic speaking voice are still iconic.

Rammstein is quite a unique band in the music industry. They have a very strong musical identity, I think I can say they are one of a kind. Rammstein will provide you with a whole package: awesome live shows, top-notch music videos, and an intriguing textual layer. On the surface, they can be seen as not very sophisticated but the whole magic began underneath in a way how they put all things together. They are great storytellers and they play with concepts, symbolism, and fan expectations. There is a lot of gray area in their songs that requires to be filled in by the listeners (their songs can have multiple meanings) that's why it's important to listen to them with subtitles on. Some of their songs can be tricky if you do not pay attention. A few other songs I think you would want to check are: "Rammlied" and "Ich Tu Dir Weh" both live from Madison Square Garden, "Mein Herz Brennt" (both official and piano version), and the beautiful ballad "Ohne Dich" (official music video), "Zeit" (official music video) and a must watch "Deutschland" and "Adieu" (both official music vids, they are heavily packed with symbolism, both are very ambitious projects). If you thought that nothing can surprise you in music, Rammstein will prove you wrong ;)

Ah Rebecca being her adorable self again, smile on my face achieved.
Rammstein is pretty much musical theater (Noir?), very attention grabbing shows with fire and blood (fake), cauldrons, explosions, and.. humor.
But one thing stand above all with them, and that is their musicianship, they are world-class musicians.
Ty for a lovely reaction Rebecca, always enjoy you being you ;)

If you want to hear Till's voice much better, check out Mein Herz Brennt, particularly the piano version. The man would absolutely DOMINATE in the opera world. He can sing and act at the same time like a pro.

Rammstein always have awesome videos, but live shows are even beyond these.
    Here are some suggestions:
"Sonne" (Live at Download Festival 2016) --> Hot as the name giving sun (Sonne = Sun)
"Ich tu Dir weh" (Hurricane Festival / Rammstein Official) --> Great singing and insane stage action towards the end)
"Mein Teil" (Live Hurricane Festival 2013) --> Read the story behind the song (a real case of cannibalism!) first
„Willst Du das Bett in Flammen Sehn" (Paris Version) --> Pyro Fashion, power, everything that Rammstein stands for
"Benzin" (Madison Square Garden) --> Benzin = Gasoline --> burns well. And maybe also a man?
There are of course a lot more insane live videos of them: "Links 2,3,4", Engel, "Mutter", "Feuer Frei", "Ich will", ... Have fun and rock on!
Paris is more a concert movie with post production and released as Directors Cut“.
You have to be aware that here a German band is playing in Paris / New York and the French / American audience is singing along in German. Music can unite! :-)
From their current album there are no official live videos so far. There are five videos out:
    „Zeit“ (time)
    „Angst“ (Fear)
    Zick Zack
    Dicke Titten (Big Boobs)
    "Adieu"
For me „Zeit“ and „Angst“ are real masterpieces regarding the videos, lyrics and songs. „Adieu“ is another masterpiece. For this video is very helpful to know Rammstein and also their videos. Or to read afterwards the comments of Rammstein fans. :-)
„Dicke Titten“ is really cool, Zick Zack is for my personal taste the weakest of the songs regarding the music. The video itself is crazy and hilarious.
For a lyric wise very interesting song, including a masterpiece video: "Angst" from their current album. And „Zeit“ as well.
"Adieu" is a fantastic song and the video is incredible as well, but it has so many references to their songs and videos that it is probably not the best song for a "Rammstein Newbie" ;-)
"Deutschland" is definitely a "must see“, as it has the highest production quality there is and it is showing the dark history of Germany from the year 9‘bc (Varus battle at Teutoburg forest) till modern times. There is so much going on / happening, there are hidden hints, … that even as a German (like I am) you cannot get everything in one, two ore three times watching it.
For something completely different but awesome as well: "Mein Herz brennt", but the acoustic version! Just a piano and tills voice. And tills facial expressions are so haunting and fit perfect o the lyrics.
"Ich tu Dir weh" (from Madison Square Garden) has an incredible live show, fantastic singing and lyrics that could get a label "parental advisory", as thy deal with SM. BUT, they there is a plot twist in the lyrics that is not that easy to get and which makes you look different on the "story".

Interesting fact. The name Rammstein comes from the tragedy at the air show at Rammstein Air Force Base, when, I think, the Italian team attempted a very complex maneuver- and crashed into each other mid air- right above the crowd. Till and his mother were in attendance at the time. Numerous spectators were killed and injured as planes and debris crashed into the field...
Two of their songs are featured on the soundtrack to the movie The Lost Highway: Rammstein, and Heirate Misch. (sic) That's where I first heard them- and I immediately went out and bought their first 2 albums. The above songs, as well as Seemann are favorites. The 90's were a HELL of a time for music! Seemann is one of those quiet LOUD quiet songs, I love, and Till really does a fine job on the vocals.
There's an interview somewhere, with guitarist Richard Kruspe. He's nothing like I expected him to be, considering the music, lol. Very cool, down to earth guy.

If you are wondering about the cool “oil” they are greased with, that’s actually flame retardant. But it also fits their style so good.
Also remember that this is a vast crowd of French, singing in German to a German band. See their other song “Amerika”
