Lyrics in english: You, you have, you've _______ me You, you have, you've _______ me You, you have, you've _______ me You, you have, you've _______ me You, you have, you have me, you have me You asked me, you asked me You asked me and I did not say anything Will you until death do you part Be faithful to her for all days? (Choir) ja No! Will you until death do you part Be faithful to her for all days? (Choir) ja No! You, you have, you've _______ me You, you have, you've _______ me You, you have, you have me, you have me You asked me, you asked me You asked me and I did not say anything Will you until death do you part Be faithful to her for all days? (Choir) ja No! Will you until the death of the vagina They love even in bad days? (Choir) ja No! Will you until death do you part Be faithful to her? (Choir) ja No!
this translation is bad in two ways: 1. "hast" (have) is impossible to tell apart from "hasst" (hate). the song plays with this ambiguity. so a good translation will contain both: you, you have / hate, you have / hate me 2. (I take this one back. apparently the official booklet really does contain the german word for vagina. wow, that one's well hidden) Also, yes, the refrain is taken from wedding vows. "will you, , be faithful to her, until death separates you?" is something you will hear at pretty much every church wedding. the same with "will you love her even in harsh times?"
The close pronunciation between du hast (you have) and du hasst (you hate), plays on two meanings throughout the song-Du hast mich (you have me) and Du hasst mich (you hate me)@@patricklankhorst5176 So title is 'You have', but the rest of the song is a possible double entendre.
@@patricklankhorst5176it is absolutely applicable. It’s called a homophone, which is an intentional play on words by the band. They even say “you hate me” in the English version of the song THEY did.
Bear in mind that this concert happened in Paris, France and the French audience singing German lyrics. Three generations ago France and Germany considered each other archenemies. We’ve come a long way since then and I’m really happy about that.
I am from Tx and Rammstein is easily the best concert I have been to and I have been to 100s. I know every word in German “hillbilly”. It’s on the awesome side of horrible.
Had the same awesome experience as a German when watching the back than newly released WWI movie 1917 in the UK with a British and French colleague of mine. Love Europe!
The "rockets" were actually on wires.. the swung over the crowd and then came back to light the stage on fire... the crowd was never in danger... The lead singer is a pryotechnician and designs nearly everything...best live performance ever!!!!!!!!
The singer is Till Lindemann, he used to be an Olympic swimmer for East Germany. Because of their fire show, he has to rub himself down with fire-proof paste, which looks like blood...
"Du hast" is word game: "Du hast" means "You have". However, "Du hasst" (double s) means "You hate". So when he sings "Du hast mich" it can mean "You have me", but may also mean "You hate me" - one can't hear the difference when he sings it. So it's in the ear of the beholder.
I saw rammstein live last august and it was the best night of my life. Truly an incredible concert. I’ll never forget the crowds chant during this song
I went to see Rammstein in 2013 at the Wacken Open Air. Best damn metalfest in the world, bar none. Everyone up here is like, ooh Yea...can't wait until SummerFest. Not me. If I could afford it, I would go to Wacken every year. But that is expensive in itself. But it was a blast over there. Nothing else like it on the planet!!!
Bear in mind this is in Paris and the almost the entire audience is singing in German! The close pronunciation between du hast (you have) and du hasst (you hate), plays on two meanings throughout the song-Du hast mich (you have me) and Du hasst mich (you hate me).
If you look at the lyrics for the song you can see that hasst is not in the song a single time just hast. however, it is kind of a play on words since they sound about the same.
I would highly recommend “Engel” live at Madison Square Garden. Every music video they make is like a Hollywood movie, and every live show is over the top. They are all like 60 now and just put out some of the best music of their careers. Also, Till, they lead singer is a certified pyrotechnic, so he puts the whole show together himself. They have been doing this for like 30 years and their following is crazy huge.
There are better versions of Engel from open air venues where Till rises above the stage with his burning wings. ruclips.net/video/jRxW5Vzeo0A/видео.html
Till Lindemann, Leadsinger of Rammstein, is a certified pyrotechnician. They do insane stuff on stage and sometimes even got hurt badly while using fire. Their live shows are among the best to ever been put on stage. Maybe check out the music video to "Deutschland", "Mutter" and "Radio" and some of the live stuff from Paris.
You should watch a Rammstein documentary. They went to Mexico and had to be evacuated by the police. Rammstein wanted sign autographs in a small music shop .. and 4.000 people to get an autogram
We need more!!! If want to see a real movie watch their music videos (Deutschland, Zeit..). They are insane! I saw them live in Prague. Craziest concert I have ever been to! They are certified in pyrotechnics and the shit they do on stage is unbelievable! 🤩
Deutschland has a higher production value than most movies. If you know a bit of German history and culture you will notice a huge amount of hidden metaphor. That video is awesome!
Saw them yesterday along with another 47.000 people. I was a good 3-400 feet from the stage, but I could still feel heat from the blasts of fire one my face, the music is amazing, but the pyrotechnics and performance is a massive part as well. Go watch them live if you have the chance.
I've was in the front Row of a Rammstein concert in Barcelona and I felt I was super close to call it quits because of the burning sensation from the fire and stuff (at the same time it was the best part). The dude next to me was wearing sunglasses and after the show, when he removed them, you could see the sunglasses shape on his skin from all the redness. It's a night i will never forget.
I was in the FeuerZone in Vegas and I always joke that someone was paid off because that Pyro was insane for indoors I still can feel the heat on my face lolol! But also... one hit wonder and they compare them to Metallica hahaha wow.... lolol
Rammstein a one hit wonder? lol 😂 they've sold more than 45 millions records, they have been in the top ten of the us billboard charts, they had several no.1 hits in different countries... blablabla 😂
Till is 60 and he is f---ing awesome. He has so much energy and the whole band is like a perfect machine. It's what 27 yrs and the same 6 band members will give u. Till writes lyrics w double meanings.
Black Pegasus got the pronunciation right.. They are actually named after the Airforce base in Rammstein. Their live shows are always amazing with a lot of pyro and their music videos are often like a movies with fantastic production value. Some of their lyrics are very dark, and often they have a double meaning, like in this case. As you stated, 'Du' means you, and 'hast' means have. But it can also mean hate. So when they sing ' Du. Du hast. Du hast mich.' it can mean both " You. You have. You have me.' or 'You. You hate. You hate me.' Only when they complete the next line "Du hast mich gefragt', the ambiguity is broken, and it only means 'You have asked me.' Here are a few suggestions for future reactions: Ich tu dir weh - Live at Madison Square Garden (extremely dark lyrics, but fantastic song and show) Engel - Live at Madison Square Guarden (great show) Zeit - Music video (amazing Video about the flow of time, and very deep lyrics) Angst - Music video (amazing video about how politicians use fear (Angst) to control the people) Deutschland - Music Video (One of the best music videos of all time, a crash course in German history, in oarticular the dark parts) Amerika - Music Video (critical take on the influence of american culture all over the world) and many more as well.
@@flyworld9620 Yes, you are right. But again, the pronunciation is almost identical, just like in 'Du hast' and 'Du hasst'. According to them, they made the mistake themselves, since they didn't know the base was spelled with only one m.
"Deutschland - Music Video (One of the best music videos of all time, a crash course in German history, in oarticular the dark parts)" Nope, it´s the best music video of all time. :-)
@@bambulkomccloud3983 They may have said that, but I suspect the reason is the most American reason possible....trademarking. It is not possible to trademark the name of a town, which would mean anyone can produce music or sell merchandise with that name.
@Bambulko McCloud The band name is spelled with two m, which is another ambiguity. It can be either interpreted as the name of the Airbase where the accident in an airshow happened (also theme of one earlier song) or be interpreted as ram stone which somehow describes the type of music they make.
I saw them at London Docklands 21 years ago. Spent most of the concert in utter awe. Speechless. The heat from all those pyrotechnics is noticeable even right at the back of the arena. And definitely THE best live show I’ve seen.
Crazy to think when rammstein was once one of the opening acts for korn back in 99 on the family values tour, back when korn was at the peak of their fame.
Please please dig into this band more. They are such a treat. They do these things you have never seen before and never see anywhere else. They are a true original and will be remembered for decades even if they are gone some day. That is music history!
Rammstein members really put a show in each of their shows. They all have a pyrotechnic license. They often change the mood between songs in their live concert and I'd never seen this "winter cold" one. They typically are the band where going to their live shows has the same amount of value than listening to their music at home. It's just different. Even listening to their live shows remotely from home can get you to be in a live crowd mode/mood. Rammstein is more than their songs.
They came here to Iceland 2018. Had a concert in a relatively small concert hall (20000 people). But they brought all their stuff, flame throwers, you name it. It was incredible. These guys are awesome live. Edit: guys. Feuer Frei is epic live.
They've been doing this since the 90s. They're so loved in Europe, that their stadium tour dates get sold out almost immediately. They added more dates because they sold out so fast. I've been listening to them since I was in hs in the late 90s and FINALLY just got to see them last year in Philly. It was an AMAZING show. Brought a friend who wasn't even a fan and ended up converting, hahaha. Their production is just so good. They're in their 60s iirc, and definitely the Metallica of Europe. One of the last remaining great stadium bands. I'd go see them every chance I could get. Definitely check out some other videos, I'm interested to hear your takes.
@Matt You are correct sir. I'm sitting here watching random Rammstein videos because tomorrow I'm going to one of the extra concerts they decided to do because the first one was sold out in less than an hour.
@@KinGzeDK man I hope you have a great time! I would absolutely love to see them in Europe. The wife said *she* would go if I took her to Europe, lol. Gotta figure this one out 😂
@@_Cleck_ It was freaking awesome! The best show I've ever seen! I uploaded a short video if you want to see. Otherwise I'd recommend searching for "Rammstein Odense 2023". 47,000 people shouting in german with fire and a great lightshow. Definitely would recommend going to europe sometime to see it. I'll never forget it - experience of a lifetime!!
They were in the U.S. this last year. Only their second trip in 20 years. Awesome show. I was in San Antonio. Drove from Houston. Many of their songs are well written and deep in meaning.
"Du hast" is a double entendre, because du hast and du hasst sound the same but the first means 'you have' like in you have asked me' and the second means you hate (me). And yes, those are kinda wedding vows - the 'you have asked me' version obviously. How long have you lived in Germany? I'm wondering, why you didn't know how to pronounce Rammstein since you grew up here. Please check out more Rammstein live shows. They are awesome and crazy.
I never thought I would see Rammstein on your channel :-))))love it and love your Ren reaction. It doesn’t matter which Rammstein song is next, all songs are phenomenal.
I saw Rammstein back in 2011. I was about 20 feet from the stage. When they came on, with the pyrotechnics, the temperature literally jumped 30 degrees. They put on on hell of a show! Great reaction!
I don‘t believe anyone into music - any style - hasn‘t heard of Rammstein. They were the world‘s highest grossing band for several years in the 2000‘s. They were the fastest band to ever sell out madisonsquare garden.
You guys sadly have no idea, what it really means. It sounds like the Wedding-Promise of loyalty but in German language there are many more meanings, if you don‘t hear all of the phrase. „Du hast mich“ means „you have me“ but it also means „you hate me“ if „hast“ is written with a double S (Du hasst mich). It‘s the same verb in spelling but different in writing. This creates the direct opposite, it means love or hate. And so Rammstein also changes the Wedding-Promise of beeing loyal or faithfull (you don‘t have sex with others, because of you are married togehter) with a clear NO (nein) at the end. So it‘s complete Nonsens, if you guys talking about this play with words in a language you don‘t understand. The fascination on Rammstein is mostly based on such play with words and different meanings in every song, just like AC/DC in the late 70ies. If you are not german native speaker, you are missing about 90% of the meanings. And Rammstein also plays with the strange pronouncing of the german language in the time of Nazi-reign. They are speaking like news commentators in the Third Reich but thats just another play with words and meanings to be not fixed in just one meaning and just one possible interpretation. You will have a lot to learn if you really want to understand. The strongest problem of Americans is the total lack or abstinence of knowing about the rest of the world. All Europeans know much much more about the USA then you know about us. It‘s a big american problem of education. Better said the total lack of education in the US.
Rammstain are straight up poets in the German language. Many of their songs feature double meanings that range from silly to vital for understanding. Du Hast = You Have, Du Hasst = You Hate. The song is about the push/pull of being in a band. They cover some wild shit in their lyrics; "Mein Teil" is about cannibalism, "mann gegen mann" is about the upsides of gay, "Radio" is about the Stazi/KGB secret police in old East Germany.
Hello Michael Gilbert, you liked the Rammstein concert, which is why I would like to draw your attention to a play on words in the text. Du, du hast, du hast mich Du, du hast, du hast mich Du, du hast, du hast mich Du, du hast, du hast mich The translation You, you have, you've me You, you have, you've me You, you have, you'veme You, you have, you've me (So far so good) You've me means in German Du hast mich You hate me means in German : Du hasst mich 1.Du hast mich (you've me) 2. Du hasst mich (You hate me) The only difference is a written S, the difference cannot be heard. For the German listener it sounds like the singer is screaming You hate me! You hate me! You hate me! Du hasst Mich! Only when the singer goes on and sings: “Du hast mich gefragt” /”You asked me” the listener notices that his thoughts have been sent in the wrong direction, the song is not about hate, just a question. Greetings from Berlin I hope I made myself clear and my lines increase your fun with Rammstein.
Till's voice can make you scaroused 😅 Many other people have already made great recommendations. For each song, it's worth seeing their music video AND their live performance.
They literally put on the best live shows and music videos I've seen. Their videos look like movies. And the lead singer is jacked AF and he's a licenced pyrotechnician.
Aaaaaw this makes me go right back to my teenage years 🥺 Rammstein is fire combined with R rated theatre, provocative lyrics and leaving you in shock 😂 They have the most unique stage shows
Their live show is a wonderful spectacle of pyro and showmanship.. I was fortunate to see their first show when they were no longer banned in Massachusetts. IT WAS GLORIOUS
I recommend to visit one of there Live shows and I promise you will get addcited from the energy in the show. This was by far my most exciting concert and I'm not even a heavy metal listener. This is not a only a concert it is an entire show. You can feel the Pyro heat no matter where you are in the stadium.
The feeling of standing 10 meters in front of stage and feeling the music and visuals hit you is amazing. Did it last year again (and im a cpl of years older than you =) grew up on this, 90:s hiphop and so much more. The best era ever! ❤
Du Hast Live in Paris video always gives me chills, it's that damned f***ing brilliant! How come no one ever seems to mention what a physical beast Till Lindemann is? He would make an excellent character in a cyberpunk film.
3:05 - That's correct, Rammstein is pronounced like Ramstein (the US base), not Springsteen like the guy on the left kept saying. In fact, the band's name was inspired by the disaster that happened in an air show at that base in August 1988, when three airplanes collided at low altitude and crashed, killing 70 people, 67 of them on the ground, and injured around 500.
Fun facts - the singer was a pretty good swimmer and was shortlisted for an Olympics place prior to injury. He's also become a licensed pyrotechnician after they caused damage to stages in their early shows. I read once that back in the really early days they used to put accelerants on the floor (crowd level) of places they played at in the early days and shoot fireworks to the ground to light it up.
One of my favorite gym songs. Definitely on the workout playlist. And can we talk about how that massive crowd was perfectly in sync with the music. Next reaction should be ‘Engel’ Song is dope.
Rammstein always have awesome videos, but live shows are even beyond these. Here are some suggestions: "Sonne" (Live at Download Festival 2016) --> Hot as the name giving sun (Sonne = Sun) "Ich tu Dir weh" (Hurricane Festival / Rammstein Official) --> Great singing and insane stage action towards the end) "Mein Teil" (Live Hurricane Festival 2013) --> Read the story behind the song (a real case of cannibalism!) first „Willst Du das Bett in Flammen Sehn" (Paris Version) --> Pyro Fashion, power, everything that Rammstein stands for "Benzin" (Madison Square Garden) --> Benzin = Gasoline --> burns well. And maybe also a man? There are of course a lot more insane live videos of them: "Links 2,3,4", Engel, "Mann gegen Mann", "Mutter", "Feuer Frei", "Ich will", ... Have fun and rock on! Paris is more a concert movie with post production and released as Directors Cut“. You have to be aware that here a German band is playing in Paris / New York and the French / American audience is singing along in German. Music can unite! :-) From their current album there are no official live videos so far. There are five videos out: „Zeit“ (time) „Angst“ (Fear) Zick Zack Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) "Adieu" For me „Zeit“ and „Angst“ are real masterpieces regarding the videos, lyrics and songs. „Adieu“ is another masterpiece. For this video is very helpful to know Rammstein and also their videos. Or to read afterwards the comments of Rammstein fans. :-) „Dicke Titten“ is really cool, Zick Zack is for my personal taste the weakest of the songs regarding the music. The video itself is crazy and hilarious. For a lyric wise very interesting song, including a masterpiece video: "Angst" from their current album. And „Zeit“ as well. "Adieu" is a fantastic song and the video is incredible as well, but it has so many references to their songs and videos that it is probably not the best song for a "Rammstein Newbie" ;-) "Deutschalnd" is definitely a "must see“, as it has the highest production quality there is and it is showing the dark history of Germany from the year 9‘bc (Varus battle at Teutoburg forest) till modern times. There is so much going on / happening, there are hidden hints, … that even as a German (like I am) you cannot get everything in one, two ore three times watching it. For something completely different but awesome as well: "Mein Herz brennt", but the acoustic version! Just a piano and tills voice. And tills facial expressions are so haunting and fit perfect o the lyrics. "Ich tu Dir weh" (from Madison Square Garden) has an incredible live show, fantastic singing and lyrics that could get a label "parental advisory", as thy deal with SM. BUT, they there is a plot twist in the lyrics that is not that easy to get and which makes you look different on the "story".
I've been on the concert yesterday. Video can not descibe how it reallly looks like. It must be seen live. And went to another concert next day. First was sold out so they had one more concert next day. I managed to buy tickets for both. It was crazy.
Translated into English, the title means "You have me" or "You've got me." It carries a double meaning since the word "hast" can mean both "to have" and "to hate." The lyrics of the song revolve around a romantic relationship where the singer acknowledges that their partner either has or hates them.
In my opinion, this is what DU HAST is about: Itis a song that is often misunderstood. The lyrics are about a man who wants to marry a woman, but she asks him if he loves her. He answers with "Du hast" ("You have"), which in German is a shortcut for "Du hast mich gefragt, und ich habe Nein gesagt" ("You asked me, and I said no"). The song plays with the double meaning of "Du hast" and creates a tension that expresses the singer's anger and frustration. The chorus "Du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab' nichts gesagt" ("You asked me, and I didn't say anything") emphasizes the man's rejection and his inability to express his love. The song can be seen as a commentary on relationships and communication. The man is unable to express his emotions and feelings to the woman he loves, and instead resorts to a simple and ambiguous answer. This lack of communication leads to misunderstandings and ultimately the end of the relationship. Furthermore, the song can also be interpreted as a critique of traditional gender roles and expectations. The woman in the song is questioning the man's love for her, and he is unable to provide a satisfactory answer. This can be seen as a challenge to the traditional idea that men are supposed to be strong and assertive in their relationships.
Rammstein is hands down the best live show I've ever seen. Have I seen a band give a better live performance? Yes. Have I seen a better live show as a whole? Not even close.
All of Rammsteins songs are love songs according to the lead singer. Some types of loves are more extreme than others. Also for the music video for "Ich tu dir weh" the singer wanted to have a light shine out of his mouth while singing instead of running a thin, concealed wire in through the corner of his mouth, he got his cheek pierced to run the wire through that hole.
I saw them live, it was litteraly the HOTTEST concert of my life with fire everywhere 🔥🔥🔥 They sold out stadium now, they are beasts ! Love them for 20 years. MEIN TEIL live if you want to see Till (singer) cooks Flake (treademill guy) Feuer Frei (Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia) if you want to see flamethrower masks And many more... Each live is nuts !
yup, Till will also wear a flamethrower backpack and shoot flames to the sides of the stage where the guitarist/bassist rigs get lit up. their live shows are unreal.
The previous comments says pretty much all I wanted to say too, they're amazing, I love them for decades now, and prettu much all of their songs, music videos and live performances are gold, but I'll just add that Till is not saying "shout it" but "Chantez", which is french for "Sing". He can speak french very well, is fluent in english too, and is, amongst other things, a recognised childbook auhtor, too.
Love it when new reactors come across Rammstein. Welcome to the rabbit hole, you will thoroughly enjoy their catalogue (live or the videos), try Engel, Mein Hertz Brennt (live, video & piano versions), Deutschland, Mein Teil, Ich Will, Ich Tu dir Weh, Feuer Frei to start. The band are all certified pyrotechnicians and wear fire resistant gel to help combat the burning (which does happen). The treadmill powers the tesla coil which provides the keyboard lightning. Plus Flake (the KB player) gets bored just standing in one spot so he came up with this. Apparently they couldn't find a promoter to fund their MSG gig because no one believed they could sell tickets so the band funded it themselves - tickets sold out in 15 minutes!
I’ve been enamored with this band from the late 2000’s, early -10’s, and they are fucking AMAZING live!!! You’re right about the pyro. My buddy and I felt all the heat and we were like 50-80 yards away from the fire towers
Love Rammstein! I recommend the live version of "Engel" and the official videos for "Sonne" and "Dicke Titten". I am sure someone else will explain it better than i can but the really genius thing about them is the frequent double meaning in their lyrics (i.e. du hast can be either "you have" or "you hate".
the single greatest live performance you will ever see in your life. Zero comparison i dont care what anyone says. Their newer stage/ setup is one of the largest productions ever, and is simply mindblowing
If you think this is stunning, just have a look how huge the stage and fire is now. They are just playing in the biggest stadiums now - to have an idea look for SONNE (Tour 2022 or 2023). Just crazy! Will go to see them again and again.
I have been to Rammstein concerts and they are something extremely special. I have been to many other concerts with very famous and popular bands and singers over the years and no one gets close to the Rammstein concerts. No matter what type of music you like. Many of their lyrics have double meaning, including Du Hast that plays on the relationships where love, commitment, loyalty, sacrifice and hate can happen and where Du Hast Mich means You Have Me, but when spoken Du Hasst Mich that means You Hate Me sounds very similar. Many of their lyrics are also criticizing double standards and unfairness in the world and at times make fun of them. And they don't shy from very controversial topics either. Some of their critics totally misunderstand their messages in many of their lyrics and think they condone much of the behavior they sing about and it totally proves how clueless they are about Rammstein from their beginning and all the way till now.
"Du hast" can have two meanings.."You hate" and "you have". If you first hear "Du hast" as an German you first understnd "You hate, you hate me", but than he add "gefragt" what means "question" and the sentence change to "you! you! you, had question me".
Just to let you both in on a rather well known secret, all the band members are licensed pyro technicians. A fascinating band you both should check out is The Hu with the song Wolf Totem. They mix Mongolian throat singing, traditional Mongolian instruments like the horse head fiddle, and metal. The song is like a war chant sung in Mongolian, and was filmed in Mongolia.
I made sure to watch this premiere to see your faces when he shot the gun and the stage is one epic flame shot hahaha. I remeber hearing this song for the first time when I was like 12 in like 2000 and this had been out for a few years alresdy lol. Industrial metal is the best by far. Powerman 5000 has some great songs and static x had some of these badass sounds
And knowingly binding yourself to another till death is Metal. This is a realistic idea of marriage not a fantasy dream but a brutal morbid pact at essence
they are beyond lit. they just did a tour in 2021 and the production is bar none. They are in their 60s and still putting out show that cannot be matched by anyone. The amazing thing about them is that they are the only band that is not english speaking that is dominant globally...like they've topped charts in US without a word of english in their music. You should check out some of their music videos...they are epic.
If you ever get the chance to see these guys live then grab the opportunity with both hands. I have been going to concerts since the 1970s and have seen many top bands in the UK and Europe but Rammstein live is by far the best show I have ever seen and ever likely too. The pyro and lights are unbelievable apart from their on stage theatrics and totally brilliant music. Am I selling it to you????
Will be waiting awesome wait till you get to Rammstein - Benzin - live from Madison Square garden - hot stuff many thanks guys love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
it's pretty scary when you can hear the crowd 5km from the stadium. those deep voices singing "you... you have" very scary yet awesome. But 4 concerts in a row and you can't fall asleep without an earworm for the next few nights 😅
I would watch more Rammstein reactions if you put more of them out. Another interesting German metal band is Electric callboy. They mix EDM and metal. They alternate between killer hooks and intense breakdowns.
Rammstein have produced some of the best live and studio video clips of all time. I recommend the video clips: Deutschland, Adieu, Zeit, Angst, Radio, Ausländer, Ich will, Keine Lust, America, Mein Herz brennt (normal and Pianoversion). And I recommend the live videos: Engel (Live in Medison Square Garden), Tu dir weh, Benzin (Live in Medison Square, Feuer frei ...
I think its interesting the whole band is from East Germany (obviously before the wall was torn down). They're outlooks on life are fascinating because of the Soviet controlled communist cold war era world they grew up in. Also, they're one of the best live shows I've ever been to in my life.
You have no idea what you are in for guys - If a 20+ year old song slays you... there is MUCH more - both Studio and Live performances - both are Different! - please do more!
Would love to see you guys react to Zeit by Rammstein which is an amazing song. Deutschland is a cinematic masterpiece to go along with an incredible song.
One of the best live bands in history. I saw them back in like 2001 in a 1700 capacity indoor theater and they shot flamethrowers over the crowd. It was insane lol They have gotten banned all over the world, and I think two of them got jailed for one of their performances in the US. They’re amazing and very sweet guys 🔥🖤
Was that show in Seattle? Appreciate it if u reply w/location, cause I saw them @ a show there sometime around then, but have damaged too many brain cells (lol) since to be sure...the club I saw them play was small (yeah, it was actually a club!), perhaps called "Moe's" then but know the name has changed several times. Thx!

this translation is bad in two ways:
1. "hast" (have) is impossible to tell apart from "hasst" (hate). the song plays with this ambiguity. so a good translation will contain both:
you, you have / hate, you have / hate me
2. (I take this one back. apparently the official booklet really does contain the german word for vagina. wow, that one's well hidden)
Also, yes, the refrain is taken from wedding vows. "will you, , be faithful to her, until death separates you?" is something you will hear at pretty much every church wedding. the same with "will you love her even in harsh times?"
@@aenaen184 The title of the song is Du Hast, so i think it's safe to say Du Hasst is not applicable here.
Läuft Kumpel 😂
Bear in mind that this concert happened in Paris, France and the French audience singing German lyrics. Three generations ago France and Germany considered each other archenemies. We’ve come a long way since then and I’m really happy about that.
I am from Tx and Rammstein is easily the best concert I have been to and I have been to 100s. I know every word in German “hillbilly”. It’s on the awesome side of horrible.
The funniest is also their concert in Russia with Russian singing "Deutschland"
Had the same awesome experience as a German when watching the back than newly released WWI movie 1917 in the UK with a British and French colleague of mine. Love Europe!
@@emeralh9415, only CIA pockets dont laugh at it.
Bare in fucking mind that the original release was in 1997.......how relevant are 1997 rappers.....
The "rockets" were actually on wires.. the swung over the crowd and then came back to light the stage on fire... the crowd was never in danger... The lead singer is a pryotechnician and designs nearly everything...best live performance ever!!!!!!!!
Everyone in the band is licensed for pyrotechnics. And they all work on the show.
Figured so, but still, that’s a bad ass and dangerous stunt.
Oh, realize that the “oil” on them is fire retardant gel.
Their stage shows are my only reason for really wanting to go see them live.
@@DarthPoynerNot everyone no, only 1 is actually certified. The rest do have training though, just not certified.
Didnt know it was wires, but I figured they were safe with it. Was wondering how they managed to get them to turn around so well lol
1000%👏
I had the subtitles on in 1996 on mtv2 it said you hate me so I always thought it said hate.
I saw them last year in LA too! Was fucking awesome!!
August 27th I was there probably in the same building with ya with 50k other people and 260 Gal of propane.

Spoiler alert 🫣
Flake, Richard, and Paul are all certified too. Not sure about Ollie and Schnider tho, but I imagine they all are just to make sure everyone's safe.
Yes Engel
Let me just add my vote for Engel as well!
Yeah I read they actually hired another lead pyro technician because Till was too reckless at times 😅
@@bazamere honestly seeing some of the stuff they do/did it’s nothing short of a miracle nobody died so far.
I think they have at least checked out "Deutschland". When they scroll through the playlist, the official video shows as played already.

Rammstein are huge, beyond what you might consider huge for an alternative group. They're massive in Europe and in the metal and alt music industries.
You should watch a Rammstein documentary.
They went to Mexico and had to be evacuated by the police.
Rammstein wanted sign autographs in a small music shop .. and 4.000 people to get an autogram
Till is 60 years old now and he wasn't young in this video. Concert was fire.

I saw them live in Prague. Craziest concert I have ever been to! They are certified in pyrotechnics and the shit they do on stage is unbelievable! 🤩
Zeit video is beautiful...
I just said that, their videos production quality is on movie levels.
Deutschland
Last year? I was there! It was great :) Puppe was scary af :D
Deutschland has a higher production value than most movies. If you know a bit of German history and culture you will notice a huge amount of hidden metaphor. That video is awesome!
Rammstein is one of the few bands that actually put 1000% into their music videos.
Music movies...😊
But also... one hit wonder and they compare them to Metallica hahaha wow.... lolol

@@insanerhardstyle5872 yeah, the jury's out on that one for the moment 😂
Black Pegasus got the pronunciation right.. They are actually named after the Airforce base in Rammstein. Their live shows are always amazing with a lot of pyro and their music videos are often like a movies with fantastic production value. Some of their lyrics are very dark, and often they have a double meaning, like in this case. As you stated, 'Du' means you, and 'hast' means have. But it can also mean hate. So when they sing ' Du. Du hast. Du hast mich.' it can mean both " You. You have. You have me.' or 'You. You hate. You hate me.' Only when they complete the next line "Du hast mich gefragt', the ambiguity is broken, and it only means 'You have asked me.'
Here are a few suggestions for future reactions:
Ich tu dir weh - Live at Madison Square Garden (extremely dark lyrics, but fantastic song and show)
Engel - Live at Madison Square Guarden (great show)
Zeit - Music video (amazing Video about the flow of time, and very deep lyrics)
Angst - Music video (amazing video about how politicians use fear (Angst) to control the people)
Deutschland - Music Video (One of the best music videos of all time, a crash course in German history, in oarticular the dark parts)
Amerika - Music Video (critical take on the influence of american culture all over the world)
and many more as well.
the airforce base is in Ramstein with just one "m".
@@flyworld9620 Yes, you are right. But again, the pronunciation is almost identical, just like in 'Du hast' and 'Du hasst'. According to them, they made the mistake themselves, since they didn't know the base was spelled with only one m.
"Deutschland - Music Video (One of the best music videos of all time, a crash course in German history, in oarticular the dark parts)"
Nope, it´s the best music video of all time. :-)
@@bambulkomccloud3983 They may have said that, but I suspect the reason is the most American reason possible....trademarking. It is not possible to trademark the name of a town, which would mean anyone can produce music or sell merchandise with that name.
@Bambulko McCloud
The band name is spelled with two m, which is another ambiguity. It can be either interpreted as the name of the Airbase where the accident in an airshow happened (also theme of one earlier song) or be interpreted as ram stone which somehow describes the type of music they make.

Saw them live in Vegas a few years ago. Hands down the best concert I have ever seen. Korn OPENED for Rammstein!
Sounds like an amazing show!!
Crazy to think when rammstein was once one of the opening acts for korn back in 99 on the family values tour, back when korn was at the peak of their fame.
I was there. I've seen both bands in the 90s and early 2000s. They still are incredible!
Saw Rammstein for the first time last September in Chicago. Best concert I've ever been too!!
I was at that show as well, was a phenomenal show!
Same here. Next level and I reallyyy hope that they do another one way sooner than later.

Rammstein is legendary in the metal scene. Glad to see you guys getting into some of their catalog (and oh boy is it deep)!
As someone who has seen them live, it’s something everyone should see! Saw them at one of their first tours in US.
Man, 2011 too. My first concert ever in Barcelona. Miss those times.
Mein Teil NEEDS to be done
Look for the music video Deutschland

Hello Michael Gilbert, you liked the Rammstein concert, which is why I would like to draw your attention to a play on words in the text.
Du, du hast, du hast mich
Du, du hast, du hast mich
Du, du hast, du hast mich
Du, du hast, du hast mich
The translation
You, you have, you've me
You, you have, you've me
You, you have, you'veme
You, you have, you've me
(So far so good)
You've me means in German Du hast mich
You hate me means in German : Du hasst mich
1.Du hast mich (you've me) 2. Du hasst mich (You hate me)
The only difference is a written S, the difference cannot be heard. For the German listener it sounds like the singer is screaming You hate me! You hate me! You hate me! Du hasst Mich! Only when the singer goes on and sings:
“Du hast mich gefragt” /”You asked me”
the listener notices that his thoughts have been sent in the wrong direction, the song is not about hate, just a question. Greetings from Berlin I hope I made myself clear and my lines increase your fun with Rammstein.

Two weeks ago Rammstein had 2 concerts in Poland in the place where they played seismographs recorded a small earthquake 😆
This is the kinda reaction videos I like!! You're not stopping the video in every 10 seconds and talk about it for minutes 🙏
Here are some suggestions:
"Sonne" (Live at Download Festival 2016) --> Hot as the name giving sun (Sonne = Sun)
"Ich tu Dir weh" (Hurricane Festival / Rammstein Official) --> Great singing and insane stage action towards the end)
"Mein Teil" (Live Hurricane Festival 2013) --> Read the story behind the song (a real case of cannibalism!) first
„Willst Du das Bett in Flammen Sehn" (Paris Version) --> Pyro Fashion, power, everything that Rammstein stands for
"Benzin" (Madison Square Garden) --> Benzin = Gasoline --> burns well.
From their current album there are no official live videos so far. There are five videos out:
„Zeit“ (time)
„Angst“ (Fear)
Zick Zack
Dicke Titten (Big Boobs)
"Adieu"
For me „Zeit“ and „Angst“ are real masterpieces regarding the videos, lyrics and songs. „Adieu“ is another masterpiece. For this video is very helpful to know Rammstein and also their videos. Or to read afterwards the comments of Rammstein fans. :-)
„Dicke Titten“ is really cool, Zick Zack is for my personal taste the weakest of the songs regarding the music. The video itself is crazy and hilarious.
For a lyric wise very interesting song, including a masterpiece video: "Angst" from their current album. And „Zeit“ as well.
"Adieu" is a fantastic song and the video is incredible as well, but it has so many references to their songs and videos that it is probably not the best song for a "Rammstein Newbie" ;-)
"Deutschalnd" is definitely a "must see“, as it has the highest production quality there is and it is showing the dark history of Germany from the year 9‘bc (Varus battle at Teutoburg forest) till modern times.
Willst du das Bett in Flammen sehen 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
...and "Weißes Fleisch" live in Paris

Rammlied at MSG is also hilarious.

I've been on the concert yesterday. Video can not descibe how it reallly looks like. It must be seen live. And went to another concert next day. First was sold out so they had one more concert next day. I managed to buy tickets for both. It was crazy.
Translated into English, the title means "You have me" or "You've got me." It carries a double meaning since the word "hast" can mean both "to have" and "to hate." The lyrics of the song revolve around a romantic relationship where the singer acknowledges that their partner either has or hates them.
...and Du hast Mir gefragt means "you have questioned me"
@@markkringle9144 and the continuation is 'und ich hab nichts gesagt' meaning 'but I've said nothing / I haven't said anything'
In my opinion, this is what DU HAST is about:
Itis a song that is often misunderstood.
Americans don't realize how TRULY Powerful World Music is. It's not just about r&b, hip-hop and rap-------THANK THE GODS!!

I listen to them for about 3 weeks but have already been to a concert and it was great 🤘
Love Rammstein! I recommend the live version of "Engel" and the official videos for "Sonne" and "Dicke Titten". I am sure someone else will explain it better than i can but the really genius thing about them is the frequent double meaning in their lyrics (i.e. du hast can be either "you have" or "you hate".
You should do a reaction to "Rammstein - Zeit" music video. The difference from "Du Hast" to "Zeit" in amazing. The whole album is just wonderful.
I saw this band Live in Dresden....THE MOST AMAZING live band ever!!.....love the frozen stunned look of the the guy with the hat! lol
the single greatest live performance you will ever see in your life. Zero comparison i dont care what anyone says. Their newer stage/ setup is one of the largest productions ever, and is simply mindblowing
I would throw Queens Live Aid concert into the ring. Different but equally epic. Croud control is just awesome in both.
I saw them live 12 times. Also in the 1st row (fire zone). If you grab a ticket, do it. The live performances are great.
Engel live from Madison Square Garden is just as crazy of a stage show.
I thought just the front singer. But makes sence. They LOOOVE fire🤣
Had the privilege to work for them a few times, Honestly one of the best live shows of all time.
PS this is tame compared to some of their other stuff!!!
This has to be my favorite reaction video. Bro be froze in awe. XD
I would watch more Rammstein reactions if you put more of them out. Another interesting German metal band is Electric callboy. They mix EDM and metal. They alternate between killer hooks and intense breakdowns.
They have crazy concerts, you should make some more reactions to their masterpieces)
Rammstein have produced some of the best live and studio video clips of all time.
I recommend the video clips: Deutschland, Adieu, Zeit, Angst, Radio, Ausländer, Ich will, Keine Lust, America, Mein Herz brennt (normal and Pianoversion).
And I recommend the live videos:
Engel (Live in Medison Square Garden), Tu dir weh, Benzin (Live in Medison Square, Feuer frei ...
Yes, you won't find that in any band. Their videos are simply fantastic.
I think its interesting the whole band is from East Germany (obviously before the wall was torn down). They're outlooks on life are fascinating because of the Soviet controlled communist cold war era world they grew up in. Also, they're one of the best live shows I've ever been to in my life.
Links 2 3 4 is one of my favorite music videos all time. Still need to see these guys live. Great react!
You have no idea what you are in for guys - If a 20+ year old song slays you... there is MUCH more - both Studio and Live performances - both are Different! - please do more!
One of them already watched Duetchland before this reaction😂
Would love to see you guys react to Zeit by Rammstein which is an amazing song. Deutschland is a cinematic masterpiece to go along with an incredible song.
One of the best live bands in history. I saw them back in like 2001 in a 1700 capacity indoor theater and they shot flamethrowers over the crowd. It was insane lol They have gotten banned all over the world, and I think two of them got jailed for one of their performances in the US. They’re amazing and very sweet guys 🔥🖤
Tag, you're it 😊
@@vegasviking86 Hahaha I told you I’d see you around 😂🩵
Was that show in Seattle? Appreciate it if u reply w/location, cause I saw them @ a show there sometime around then, but have damaged too many brain cells (lol) since to be sure...the club I saw them play was small (yeah, it was actually a club!), perhaps called "Moe's" then but know the name has changed several times. Thx!
Yes, Till And Flake have been arrested for improper conduct in Winchester. It was after the performance.
My favorit live songs from Rammstein is.
1. Feuer frei
2. Engel
3. Sonne
4. Mein teil
