1: You heard the singer correctly, "Teil" in German is pronounced like "Tile" in English.
2: The term "Teil" is/was used by younger men/boys in Germany as slang to refer to their "guy parts."
3: Mr. Till (the Lead Singer) is a trained and certified pyrotechnics expert.

True story. There has been a real story in Germany that went through the media, where a cannibal was looking for someone who agreed(!) to be eaten. And indeed, some crazy man agreed to this male cannibal. It went also through the media because part of the victim's Teil/junk was found the in the cannibal's freezer. So this song by Rammstein is reflecting on these events.
Rammstein don't advocate what they sing about, it is more a inverse moral jestering. The audience need to understand this and need to be emotional developed to experience these dark sharpened artistic arguments. It is not for the faint hearted, but for ppl who have seen shit in their life.

It's a true story happened in Germany: Armin Meiwes born 1961 is a German former computer repair technician who received international attention for murdering and eating a voluntary victim in 2001, whom he had found via the Internet. After Meiwes and the victim jointly attempted to eat the victim's severed penis, Meiwes murdered his victim and proceeded to eat a large amount of his flesh. He was arrested in December 2002. In January 2004, Meiwes was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to eight years and six months in prison. In a retrial in May 2006, he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. Because of his acts, Meiwes is also known as the Rotenburg Cannibal or Der Metzgermeister (The Master Butcher). --Source Wikipedia--

I saw Rammstein when I was around 16 and they played this but I had no idea what the song was about at the time I was just like wtf is happening 😂 20 odd years later its still one of the best live shows I've ever seen! The flamethrower-stunt is safe because the pot is REALLY thick-walled, and well-insulated, and the fire isn't substained.
Also on recent tours they...ditched the pot. Flake (the keyboarder) got a high-temp fire retardant suit, and then they just go for it.

There's a Rammstein-Album where the box art looks like a "Black box", a bright orange emergency flight data recorder.
People who bought the CD could go to track one, select "prior", and had a "track 0" which was the recording of a flight-data-recorder from an actual plane crash.

You problably shouldn't worry too much about the words not being in the exact same order in the subtitles as they are sung in the german lyrics, different languages have different syntax, so words can be placed in very different order in a sentence to get the same meaning.

I do not know the details anymore, but I distinctively remember that the press reported about "preparing the 🥒 of the male victim" hence the name of the song. There's an old joke in the fandom that, when you watch/listen to rammstein alone, you get "Haifisch" and "Diamant".
When someone comes in you get "Mein Teil" or worse.

Just dropped by to mention that the subtitles aren't off. The languages just work differently. In English, "The blue dog ran down the street". In others, "Down the street, the blue dog did run".
Loving the reactions guys. Keep up the great work! 👍🏻

From your comments about Du Hast being the most reacted to video, it is because Du Hast is their most popular song plus in the craziness of a Rammstein concert Du Hast is much more accessible to those new to Rammstein. Mein Teil is insanity, but probably not the intro to Rammstein for a casual fan. Du Hast is a great entrance to the rabbit hole.
A lot of bands have a signature song for their live shows. It may or may not be the best song, but live it is tops. Rammstein has like eight of those songs in one show. The whole experience is orders of magnitude better than the rest.
Highly, highly, highly recommend that you get to see them live if possible. I hope that they tour the USA again before they call it quits.

in my opinion, their most beautiful song (together with "ohne dich") It reminds me of my father who passed away. Normally they would play "seeman" at his funeral, but the priest called it off at the last minute. He thought it was too rude, too German, too rock... same story as with many people who still compare everything in German with world war things 🙄

Btw when you sometimes wonder about the word order in German in comparison to the english subtitles it is because German has fairly different word order from english, even french or spanish, often putting the verb at the very end of the sentence.

The official video feels kinda more disturbing if you know the origin of the story that song is based on . . .
By the way, the crew for the pyro-system is based directly under the stage, so they can act if something is now working as planned.
Even, Till Lindemann is a trained pyro-technician, but the rest of the band also has extended training.

I'm watching from Hong Kong. Recently saw them play in Denmark. I love reaction videos because I enjoy sharing and seeing other people experience music I love, not many friends in town have the same taste in music as I do, Mein Teil is one of the songs I kinda skip...I don't find it catchy & I'm a bit squeamish 😂 You need to watch Deutschland, Adieu or Zeit music videos...or even Mein Hertz Brennt (Piano version)

I think subs are hard to do to sometimes without having a huge paragraph at a time, because for it to make sense some words are much further in front of a statement, than how we would put the sentence together in English or w/e.

Back some few years ago when people who knew nothing about them started reacting to the video Du Hast it was always the same. Everyone always freaked out because they would see Flake on the thread mill. I would always mention that a guy on a thread mill is the least weirdest thing you would see watching that group. Now as people discover more and more about then they are starting to understand my meaning 😅

Flammbiert. Root: Flammbieren. You are correct, it was from the Craiglist ad story that he got the song from. Till wrote it himself! Mein Teil for English pronunciation is Mine Tile for how it's pronounced. Yes, it translates to my part. They ate his manhood together from the original story. One of their darkest songs!
