I never heard of this dude in my life, and the funniest part is the beginning because I was so set on the word prejudice I thought he was going to spell that out. This was a trip! Loved it. 😂
Words are hard 😂
It got sent to you a lot because in no simple terms, Tim is a lyrical genius.
Do your self a favour and watch a few more of his performances.
You should check some of his love songs like - Inflatable you, If you really loved me, You grew on me. Or basically anything older from him like Confessions
He's so clever, he's talking about the 'N' word but doing it via the 'G' word. (Once you go Ginge you can't go back is a big clue) Btw EVERYBODY falls for the twist at the beginning.
List of songs. Pope Song. Thank You God. If You Really Love Me. Rock and Roll nerd is just great as is Not Perfect. But all his stuff is pretty great. Documentary Rock and Roll nerd is amazing. He wasn't making it as a comedian and created this over the top version of himself.
"That's my bad I get it" whilst not getting it is fucking beautiful never enjoyed a reaction more than this one right here 😂 I always show people this song ❤
It's a multilayered _I get it._ Just watching all the penny's dropping one after the other was really enjoyable.
@@michaelmurray3800 I totally agree. I don't normally enjoy reaction videos. This one was very entertaining.
Shout out to all the Aussie here watching Americans get fooled by this legend😂
Whats so powerfull in this song is the fact that he is still adressing a serious topic. All wrapped up in a nice ginger package.... Extremely skilled pianist on top of that.
Love the love, keep it up!
What's so serious about it, ninja?
...Did you just said the G-word?
Tim is a freakin’ legend - totally another rabbit hole to go down. He’s a concert level pianist, a decent singer and a comedy genius. He’s got a metric shit-ton of content on RUclips and it’s all well worth watching.
Keep up the great work, much love from Scotland 🏴
Not that it matters an iota, but this is my fave comment.
his piano is what got me the most, that shit was crazy good, he can sing write lyrics and he's hilarious, talent overload right there
@@brilyman You should check out his "mitsubishi colt" piece!
YES YES YES!! Mitsubishi Colt is a piece of MAGIC! The piano getting more and more chaotic as he continues on blows me away every single time!
I absolutely adore Tim Minchin and everything he's done.
Now you have to do this with Don. Tim is a legend. He wrote the Broadway musical Matilda, was in the play Jesus Christ Superstar, and this is another rabbit hole for you to go down because he's got loads of hilarious content
100% you gotta surprise Don with this business lol.
He has made two seasons of a series called Upright! Absolutely amazing writing, acting, music…amazing!
Upright is soo good!
.. And a mega set of vocals 😮
Don’t forget Groundhog Day the Musical 🙌🏻
That was one of the best reactions I have ever seen to this song. When the light finally came on in your eyes, I actually clapped a little clap. I love that moment when people flip the switch from thinking one thing to realizing another. It's just such a brilliant flash of recognition that this guy has turned you on your head.
My thoughts exactly
I love how he addresses the issue of slurs with intelligent comedy. He uses "Ginger" as a replacement for the other word, and makes a social commentary on how people abuse it, without actually saying it. He is so damn brilliant, plus he has legit mad skills on the piano. Try listening to "Storm". You will really see his genius on that one too, and you won't be able to stop laughing. :) I always love when someone new hears Tim for the first time. :)
No he's definitely just talking about the plight of redheads and shitty bully kids and adults. He is not using it in place of that particular word and thats kinda silly to just assume that.
@@Wbroach24 It appears he's singing about both.
@@Wbroach24 He's definitely drawing parallels e.g. "Once you go ginge you can't go back" is most associated with the non-ginger variety.
@@Wbroach24 You don't know much about Tim if you think that. His songs often have deep meanings and talk about real issues.
@FM-qm5xs yep probably not
Gingernuts are biscuits (cookies) we use to dunk in tea or coffee.
Tim wrote the musical Matilda, and has done the music for Groundhog day the musical.
TIM IS A LYRICAL GENIUS
I loved the look on his face when Tim started singing about dunking gingernuts in a cup of tea 😂 Priceless 😂😂
@@margaretburns9914 He's actually talking about dipping his ginger nuts in her ginger tear. lol
Also should note matchstick is referring to the brand Redheads.
I didn't know the biscuit part. I always thought it was a fancy reference to tea-bagging. 🤣
Sure it is. 😏
OH, LORD... I'm wiping tears out of my eyes whilst typing this. Absolutely loved this. Perfect reaction. Hilarious.
Great reaction! I love how that "flip" gets everyone first time (including me), but as you listen more you realise he's actually still talking about what you thought originally, just not directly. The language of prejudice, indeed. He's written a lot of great songs, funny and otherwise - one of my favourites is _White_ _Wine_ _in_ _the_ _Sun,_ an Australian Athiest Christmas song, which makes me tear up when I sing it.
Me too re white wine in the sun. And it’s such an Australian Christmas song. No where else do people celebrate Xmas like us
All of Tim’s songs are great. Having a red-headed daughter, I just love this song. And his musical version of Matilda just shows what a musical genius he is. AND he is Australian.🐨🐨🐨🇦🇺
Not just Australian, WESTERN Australian! 👍
@Chris-hx3om born in Northampton, England, UK.
Yay! I'm so glad you reacted to this 😁👋. He's very intelligent and the majority of his songs have so many deeper levels to them but on the surface they're silly and fun. I love him! You and Don would probably like 'inflatable you' that's a fun one but it's full of BARS but 'lullaby' would probably reach you on a parental level, it's funny. Also he's absolutely incredible at playing piano. Hope you do some more Tim Minchin stuff in the future
Jokes aside, if you like talented musicians, Tim can absolutely SHRED on a piano, his skills are legendary on the keys.
i reckon one day he could play the piano as good as elton john
Tim Minchin is amazing. Absolutely multi-talented - and unbelievably talented in everything he's doing! You've just scratched the surface...
The facial expression when you GOT IT was the best part of this entire video!
I was thinking the exact same thing!
YaY for our Australian brother Tim Minchin. That actually was recorded 13 years ago, but check out some of his others. Even his monologues are incredible. Have a listen to 'Stormy' for a huge laugh, (a beat poem) . He's a brilliant actor, pianist and comedian. He has opinions, no doubt about that, but hey go with the flow my brother.
its just called -Storm.
i like both the animated version and live version so good reccomendation.
- Fellow Australian mate ❤
@@jasonbuckley4118 Agreed. Storm is amazing
Yes, Storm is genius and the animated video is amazing and much loved by the skeptics community. I'd be interested to see what Black Pegasus' makes of this tour de force.
They need to check out "cont" !!
Tim is so good on the piano it gets lost in his comedy, he is an Australian who's been big for years. You should try his track LULLABY as a parent it's real deal funny. 😂😂😂
I reckon Tim puts it best himself - for a pianist he's a good comedian and for a comedian he's a good pianist. I've seen people who can eclipse him in either of the aspects, but he blends it so wonderfully it's something unique... then adds genuine intelligence there too.
I can absolutely second Lullaby, I have felt every single line of that with my own kids. Cont is another favourite too.
👍 Great "innocent" reaction.
The "Aha!" moment, then followed by the real "AHA!" moment.
Tim's construction and pacing of this is stellar. Legendary.
It was an absolute pleasure to see you going thru the stages of thinking you knew what the song was about, then realising what it was really about, and then just going with it, enjoying and appreciating Tim's clever lyrics. Like and a Sub!
Please do Tim’s “Thank You, God” with the orchestra backing him. There’s a short spoken word part at the beginning that is important to include. It’s so fucking good.
Seriously, one of the best songs ever written, comedic or otherwise.
Its the best of his work imo
@@tracyflood7485pope song is clear
100% so good and fun. :D
Yoo that was hilarious, loved your reaction to this song, your face of realisation when you thought you knew what he was spelling and then when your mind was blown when he flipped it 🤯
haha yes🤣 this is the only time I have been two steps ahead of black p. it's usually the other way around
I did NOT expect to see you responding to Tim Minchin this morning! But I'm so here for it. Minchin is an absolute genius, and one of the only people who can stand next to Ren with musical creativity and talent.
So glad you got to see Tim Minchin - He is a national treasure here in Australia.
And here in UK too! We don't claim him, but we like to borrow him from you. 😁
Tim is a genius, he wrote this in the bathroom in about 10 minutes. "White wine in the sun" is my favourite Christmas song (which he gives all proceeds to charity)
Definitely the best reaction to Tim's Prejudice yet, Stoked that Ren brought me to your channel and now your looking at one of our national treasures (AUS) . Be warned Tim says it how he sees it and is not scared to let people know and we love him for it.
Cough cough, us Brits lent him to you Aussies 😂😂
That we do xxx
I’m going through the same rabbit hole in the past 24 hours 😂
this was honestly the most fun reaction i’ve seen from you Tim minchin another australian legend. we have so many underrated musicians, performers and comedians
Tim is so good live. He wrote the musical Matilda. The way he twists this song around is excellent. You gotta check out “White Wine In The Sun” next it’s awesome.
@@susanmarshall9118he's the composer and lyricist for Matilda and Groundhog Day
I absolutely loved his live show, perfect mix of comedy and pure musical talent
White Wine in the Sun is the best southern hemisphere Christmas song in existence
It isn't so comic but has its moments and gets Aussie expats sobbing.
I LIVE in Perth and it makes me sob. it's such a perfect description of a Christmas at home.
So glad you've heard Tim. He didn't hit fame til around 30 and then blew up. Hes one of the smartest comedy songwriters ever. Then went on to a successful Musical Writer. Matilda the Musical is all him.
I mean it's not all him, he composed the songs and lyrics but not the screenplay or the orchestrations. He's also the composer and lyricist for the groundhog Day musical which was every bit as good as Matilda.
I am pretty sure he tried his hand at being in a punk band as well before going solo but I wouldn't swear by it.
Loved this...I couldn't look away from you when the chorus was coming up and your reaction didn't disappoint. Absolutely friggin hilarious, glad you get Tim's intellect, musicality and comedy, definitely watch more 😂❤.
Dude that was an epic reaction. We followed you all the way from not getting it to embracing it! Love it.
Love your honesty and being open to experiencing Tim full bore. Your reaction is magic.
A couple of G's, .. an R and an E ... an I and an N ..... GINGER
Ginger nuts are a type of hard Australian biscuit (cookie) that are usually dipped in tea or coffee to eat.
Dude I always wanted you to react to this, but it's a bit of a fine line recommending this one. No L's homie, you got the joke. Tim Minchin is an absolute genius in so many ways. Also good are: "Inflatable You" and "If I Didn't Have You (Full)", and so many more.
If I didn’t have you is a must💕👍🦇
Yes but has to be the full when he talks about his wife lol
Surprised you haven't come across this yet. Man, this guy is so talented. Nothing I would ever think I would enjoy but his stage presence and talent was just too good.
He wears the eye makeup and teases his hair to draw attention to his face and eyes, because he is quite frequently on the piano during his performances. It's quite genius in my opinion. Also, his catalog is huge. Some of my favorites are "If I didn't have you/ uncut version", "Human Logic", "Fuck The Poor", "You Grew On Me", "Storm"(beat poem), "Angry [feet]", "Five Poofs","Song for Wossy", and "Lullaby"...
I absolutely love "If I didn't have you" coz people sooo misunderstand it!
Glad you've finally discovered Tim Minchin. The man is a lyrical powerhouse. Check out "Inflatable You" and "If I Didn't Have You"
Long time Tim Minchin fan here. And also a massive Ren fan. Thrilled you reacted to this. If you go down the Tim rabbit hole you will see how much overlap there is in their world view. Try listening to 'Fhe Fence' by Tim. It's incredible.
I've been a Tim Minchin fan since around 2008. You're reaction was so fun to watch. Thanks for taking the time to watch this BP.
Swear he was kicking around Octagon theatre/UWA late 90s or early 2000s
He is an Australian Genius in the Entertainment industry. So many words have been used to highlight his talent. Love him and so proud of our Aussies.
Oh... that was such a fun reaction to watch. You encapsulated everything that a person experiencing Tim Minchin for the first time should express. I hope you get really into his work, he is just amazing all around.
Tim is an accomplished musician, stand-up comedian and musical writer. His live shows are a fantastic mix of all 3 and he's highly intelligent with his lyrics. Definitely worth doing a deep dive!
And TV show writer and an awesome actor. He's co written and starred in 2 seasons of his hit TV show Upright.
@@jackwhitbread4583 I love Upright. I've seen Season 1 four times and it's probably time to watch Season 2 for the 4th time, too. It streams on CBC Gem for free.
This about the best reaction I have witness. The look and expressions on you when you realized . . . PRICELESS
I just love all of us watching you watch him and go through the journey we've been through already.
That was a blast to watch. Thanks for making it even more fun!
Watching you think that you got it … only seconds later to realise you didn’t get it but realise just how clever Tim is was priceless 🙌🏼
Can you imagine what Ren and Tim could produce together? Both brilliant.
I have to say, I got to your channel through the rabbit hole of people reacting to the song and your was by far my favorite reaction! LOVED your energy!
Tim is extremely intelligent, a graduate of the University of Western Australia, his 9 Life Lessons is definitely worth watching. He wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway hit and film 'Matilda'. A musical and comic genius.
Absolutely loved this reaction! Got me in stitches :D Much love. FORTY!
I’m an Australian and Tim Minchin is a national treasure. These days he spends a lot of time in USA but you don’t get to claim him. HE’S OURS!!
Tim is an Aussie legend. He is so smart and talented ! He wrote the play Matilda. We Aussies love our Tim ❤
I love your reactions, they are so pure. Ginger nuts are a biscuit (British cookie). Thanks for introducing me to Ren.
Tim Minchin is a mad genius. He's got that classic, cheeky British humor that I adore.
I absolutely loved the various phases of your realization of what he was saying! LOL! Best reaction ever to this epic lyricist and musician.
Classic cheeky Australian humour...😅 he is absolutely brilliant. he is our national treasure
@@eaoveejay That's true also. He does Australia proud, I'm sure. You guys do have some witty humor. 😅💕
@@SayHelloToOblivion I came across Axis of Awesome a year or two after I discovered Tim. You recommend any others?
@@eaoveejayI thought Rolf Harris was your national treasure? Not anymore?
Pope song next! 😂
A classic.
Yessss! Gotta' be the piano version, though - it hits harder.
Maybe a warm up with "Thank you God? 😅
@BlackPegasusRaps this was one of the funniest and funnest reactions I've come across! this has been one of my fav bits of musical comedy. also, at first I was sure your shirt said "MILE HIGH CLUB" and that 15 was on heck of a flex. subbed and liked
I subscribed because it's so much fun watching you react to stuff I saw years ago!
Tim is Australian royalty….simply fabulous! ❤❤❤
This is hilarious! A fire reaction to a fire song. Tim Minchin is a rabbit hole well worth jumping down. "If I didn't have you" is another great one of his. "Storm" is a wonderful beat poem, if you're into that sort of thing. "White wine in the sun" is a more somber but beautiful song. "I'll Take Lonely Tonight" is a beautiful love song. The list goes on...
Definitely entertained! 😆 Love this one!
This was so freaking awesome, funny, entertaining. Loved it loved it, actually got my husband to come in and watch. I have known of this man for about 20 years, you gotta look into more of his live stuff, so worth it!!! Loved that you did this, such a fun romp 😄
Your reaction was classic!! You had me almost rolling out of bed laughing!!! Your face was 😮! Your expressions were to die for ! You just have to get Don on for this !😂😂
I'm extremely entertained! I didn't even request this reaction but I'm glad others did 😂
You got a whole catalogue of Tim Minchin’s genius to enjoy and react to and I am here for every second of it! 🔥
Best reaction ever!! Well worth hitting that like button 😍I was horrified when we went to see him live and he started to sing this!! He got us too!!
This makes me so happy. In Australia, we have known of Tim and his rock star aspirations (expressed through GENIUS Musical Comedy) for Decades now. I have been fortunate to see Tim in small venues and Theatre when he was first on the scene. It is so rewarding to see his success with Matilda the Musical etc. My favourite is "White Wine in the Sun", a beautiful song about missing Family Christmas at home in Australia 🇦🇺
Please Deep Dive into Tim Minchin
You won't regret it!
BTW - thoughtful ideas about science, culture and religion abound!
🤞🤞🫶🫶
White wine in the sun makes me bawl my eyes out.
My dad passed a few years back but we loved Tim
His song Perfect gets me
UWA? Think it was the octagon bit can't recall...but I was there. A secret ginger with hair dyed black, or pink, or blood red. It changed all the time but Tim convinced me to embrace my true inner ranga. Check out the images of book cover for "Bad Girl" by Margaret Clark for me at around the time I first met Tim
For me a truly great song is one that I know, melody and chords wise, after one listen. I've only heard that song a few times, and can hear it right now in my head.
Ginger Nuts are biscuits you dunk in tea 🤣 - yes, really enjoyed this - Tim Minchin is great - glad you’ve found him! X
As an Aussie, I know we say biscuit, but better tell Americans it's a "cookie".... They think biscuits are for "sopping up gravy" 😂😂😂
I'm using quotes because it sounds so odd to me and my fellow Aussie and UK English speakers.
🤣🤣
@@MsTtilly yes - thanks - forgot about that!!🤣
Oh my. I was crying 😂 I think this is one the best reactions!!! Love it!!😂❤
BP I was waiting... and waiting...then laughing so hard when you realised what was going on. Great reaction! Yes - you have to show Don!
One of my favorites by Tim. He's genius!
He is AMAZING live! The music and performance and vibes in the audience! Lullaby and Stormy ! And Tim is definitely a Don wanna be type of reaction with you two feeding each other more content and laughs- laughs are always best with friends!
It's Don Juan-a-be as in the character 😂
It's pronounced Don wannabe.
It's a double.
Don Juan character is a Ladies Man
Don "wants to be" a Ladies Man
It's a play-on-words....
Get it?
I think it's a brilliant name.... Really well thought out name! 🎉
@@MsTtilly I am so glad you replied with this! Not going to lie- I almost went back and edited it to be Don Juan - but was to “lazy” if a sort- I think I commented on at least 5 videos and a few heavy handed homemade margaritas were consumed- deeper comical thoughts were catching up slower to my faster on the rocks brain was commenting-
I knew this morning
there were some massive typos and partial thoughts out there- but real life single mom with real life hang over and soccer games said “screw trying to go back through all my drunk comments and make edits- it is what it is”
I love that it’s actually Don Juan a be …. It’s a perfect fit!
I love BP and Dons back and forth - I am hoping we get a down on the beat and music pt4 with these two!
SO entertained! Loved both moments of realization.
Tim is a legend.
Good on you for getting it! At the end of the day, words only mean what you let them.
Peace!
This is a glorious moment! BP We LOVE YOU!!! Welcome to the genius of Tim Minchin! I can't recommend any song more than any other because they're all golden! My personal fave is "Stormy" but ymmv ;)
Inflatable You!!😂
So much fun to watch this reaction! He got you good -- and Tim would be proud. He's brilliant musically and comedically. And, by the way, he wrote the movie Matilda. I love everything Tim does, but his song White Wine in the Sun is my favorite Christmas song of all time. (There's a question going around the Rendom of who we'd like to do a song with Ren, and Tim Minchin is one fo my top 2 choices.)
That's really made me smile tonight! Thank you! 😂
This may be the most enjoyable reaction video I have ever watched.
I'm glad you enjoyed Tim. He's a very funny man and I'm sure you would love a lot of his work.
When Tim first started out he was constantly overlooked so he decided he needed something that would grab peoples attention, hence the makeup and the weird hair lol and it did garner him a lot of attention not to mention the incredible talent he has as a pianist, composer and song writer.
And let’s not lose sight of how good the piano playing is. The man is a virtuoso
Got me, i should have waited to end before posting, quite brilliant!
Thanks for this video! Huge Tim Minchin fan.
🤣😂 He loves to play with words and exploiting peoples misconceptions. He is incredibly smart and funny man. Awesome reaction bro
I was at that actual show that was recorded for this video and it was an absolute blast. Tim is a super clever and funny dude.
You had me laughing so hard! Thank you! Love your channel!
Watching your face while you play scrabble in your head. 🤣 "Nevermind, I get it." omgggggg
A lot of it might offend but I love him!!!
We are all fed up of the people who are offended over anything today
Really loved this reaction. So proud of our Aussie Tim. Check out his other stuff. He's very accomplished in comedy and musicals as well. He's a national treasure.
omg when it clicked on your face i lost it for a minute there, AH HAHAHAHA!!!
that moment of realization is worth at least a like, maybe even a subscribe, nice vid man, keep it up
See your followers know what's good for you to react to bro. Your reaction when you finally realised what he was singing was epic. Honestly listen to your followers we won't disappoint you.
Satirical BARS about real world issues done over brilliant self composed piano. PLEASE react to more Tim Minchin.
😂I love the way it evolved n your mind. Mine too! But you enunciated it so well.
I love the way you took your time for the assumption... made the switch even better! New viewer...Subbed!
Love Tim. ❤ Was lucky enough to see him live once in a tiny venue. His REM-style parody called Canvas Bags is great fun, but he has lots of incredible comedy songs. Darkside is a good one to start.
Always a joy to watch Tim perform this, he's done so so so many comedy songs but also written songs for the Broadway musical Matilda and Groundhog Day the musical?!
TRUE appreciation of an artist. Well said bro ALL the way!
I remember that I legit saw him live when I was about 14 once. He really is a genuinely smart entertainer. And honestly seeing him live was pretty damn unforgettable.
And you thought Ren was a rabbit hole? Mwahaha. Tim Minchin has a ton of content and never fails.
Do "Lullaby" next up; all parents will relate to it.
Then "Storm"; Tim dismantles the daft notions of a New Age hippie chick in a 9 minute beat poem over a jazz backing track. (It is kinda like rap in the same way Leonardo Da Vinci is kinda like Walt Disney.)
And any artist who ever had a performance get criticised in a way that gets under theur skin MUST give Minchin's "Song for Phil Doust" a listen.
Love this reaction. Made me smile so much. Great job 🙌
LOL, the look on your face the moment you finally figured out what you thought he was spelling... 🤣🤣🤣
Yo, Tim is the GOAT! You could react to just about anything he's done, and even if you don't really dig it or maybe agree with it, still have a great time and appreciate a genius at work. He's definitely a next level performer.
