"In March 2001, Armin Meiwes posted an advert on the internet. He was looking for a “young, well-built man who wanted to be eaten”. The 42-year-old computer engineer from Rotenburg, Germany, became known as Der Metzgermeister (the Master Butcher) in one of the most famous cases of cannibalism in history.

@@sparkyjones560 well not exactly. You cannot translate songs and get the full effect. Take for example the du hast song. It means "you have" and is about asking to marry and saying nothing. The word hast sounds like hasst and until they say the complete lyrics it could be interpreted as you hate me. It is the same reason you can't take a rap scheme that rhymes in English and just translate it to another language. The translated words will not rhyme.

Even with Du Hast which is one of their simplest songs there is a ton of depth of meaning and clever plays on words woven into those lyrics. And they are known for their music. And for their stage shows. And for their videos. Maybe you don't know them for anything except their stage shows but the world is not limited to the scope of your knowledge.

Early 2000s...Seen them for the first time in the movie xXx...went to internet..seen official Mein Teil video.....obsessed every since then. 2011 best concert ever attended

Rammstein is known for three things.
1) Really dark lyrics, which sometimes make me glad I can't speak German.
2) Incredibly lavish use of fire, to the point where the singer got himself certified as a pyrotechnician in order to avoid the safety hazards they ran in the first part of their career.
3) Badass heavy metal music.
Also, note that the subtitles on that video were in Spanish, but he was singing in German. For example, "Mein Teil" in German = "Mi parte" in Spanish = "My part" in English.

For those who may not be aware: This is a true story about a German man who was a cannibal, who solicited online for someone to be voluntarily eaten by him. And he succeeded in finding a volunteer, and really did eat someone who wanted to be eaten. Soon after, German authorities found out and arrested the cannibal, who is now sentenced to life in prison.

Lyrics for songs by Rammstein are always difficult because they play a lot with words that sound similar. If you listen to this as a german you'll recognize that it often also sounds like "Jetzt ist mein Teil (dein)" instead of "Yes it's mein Teil (nein)" so you'll hear "now my part is yours" instead of "Yes it's my part (no!)". They love those kind of double meanings which they've show in songs like "Du hast".

My son has sensory issues and most kids on the spectrum love music and he found rammstein and listened to it all the time loved it!
"Why is everyone acting like this is normal?" Because it is. That's the thing with Rammstein shows, they are VERY visual. Mainly they use lots of pyros and theatrics. I believe during the song Benzine one of the guitarist even had a flamethrower mounted on his guitar. Du hast, Weidmanns Heil, and Ich will would have been better choices though.
Feuer Frei. It even has "fire" in the name! And flamethrowers mounted in front of people's mouths while playing music! Hell yeah!

"I bet all their songs like this." Actually this one is pretty unique. No other Rammstein sing sounds like Mein Teil, and their subjects are pretty varied although usually pretty dark. I definitely think you should check out Engel, Mein Hertz Brent, or Sonne and see for yourself. All of their live shows are that insane however.

Coach, I seen ramstein in 2001 and it was by far the most insanely memorable show I've ever been to. That's tuff!!
So many insane Rammstein songs out there, classics are : "Du hast", "Feuere Frei", "Engel", "Mein hartz brennt".
But the new ones: "Deutchland", "Radio", "Ausländer", and also "Te quiero puta" are some really awsome songs!
Rammstein is known for having extremely theatrical performances. Their shows are filled with shock and awe factors.
