On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Phoenix AZ on 1-4-22.
We're looking at a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible in Marina Blue Paint. The car comes with the factory 427 CI V8 producing 435 HP. The car also has a 4 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Jim Sheehan. Jim’s had this car since 2021. Jim shares he was on vacation, and the person who had the car for 12 years, and completed a 8 year restoration took the car out from where he was staying, and put a for sale sign in it. Jim called him up, took a ride, and the car was bought and coming back to his house. That’s being in the right place, at the right time.
ENJOY! Авто/Мото

Lou, consider yourself lucky to have ridden in one of these cars...one of the holy grail cars of the 60's
Hi Dan, High praise for the "holy grail" car :-) I'm pretty lucky, and happy to share the ride with you, Lou
@Dan, I was saying something very similar above!
One of the nicest examples of a 1967 I've seen yet. My favorite model year of the Corvette.
High praise :-)
You can hear it before you could see it coming, and the sound is pure music. Thank you Lou, this could possibly be the best car ever and that's quite a statement 👍👍
Hi Bruce H., "You can hear it before you could see it coming, and the sound is pure music" Just the way we like it :-) High praise! You're welcome, Lou
"The right amount of pedals (and carbs)"! This '67 is flawless. It looks and sounds fantastic. What a great test drive, too! I just had to watch this twice. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, "This '67 is flawless" High praise! You're welcome, Lou
WOW, absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! My favorite year C2. The sound of that 427 is music to my ears. I ❤️ it, Lou!
Hi Brenda S, High praise :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful '67 ! Great exterior color and interior combination... Easily the best year for 60's Corvettes ! Thanks for posting ! Jim always has gorgeous examples. !
Hi Rudy, High praise :-) Thanks for viewing. You're welcome, Lou
@Rudy, I learned in school about colours back in the 60s. The blues, greens, purples etc are what's called 'cool' colours, the reds, yellows, oranges are 'warm' colours. I prefer the WARM colours, esp for sports cars! Maybe because I lived in rainy, gloomy, dark Vancouver for so long I needed some BRIGHTness in my life to CHEER me up???
Like you say not much to say, everyone's dream car, good video Lou and thanks!
Hi Gary, Happy to share this "dream car" with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
The nicest classic vette i have ever seen looks better than a modern corvette
Hi Tuckyonald, High praise :-) Lou
That's as stunning a car as you've ever featured Lou, definitely one of my favourites. And boy what perfect scenery to drive that car in, those cacti are also stunning 😲😲🤩🤩
Hi lyonheart84 exotic fruit growing, High praise :-) Lou
Lou, this ‘67 Vette has to be one of the best sounding cars I have ever heard. BAD ASS!
Hi Chris, You're right about the sounds from this Corvette :-) Lou
Well Lou a definite memory for me. In 1973 I was working along with my twin brother for a gentleman who owns several Sunoco gas stations and a body shop. He was into racing so my brother and I were involved with that with him as well. One day at work the boss had a 67 vet convertible for 27 at one of his gas stations. He elected me to drive it to his body shop. Needless to say to keep my job I cooperated. And had a little fun to boot. Definitely one of the finer Corvette models. You’re a little bit like Bob Hope thanks for the memories.
Hi David, Happy to read this car brings back nice memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
@David, for '27'.....WHAT?
Make a relaxation tape with this car running to destress. I'm sold.
:-)
The '67 in Marina blue is an awesome machine. The original Stingray design was really perfected by then. It's interesting to note that the side pipes were not installed at the factory. The dealer you bought the car from had to do the conversion.
Hi Joseph, Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Lou
I'm being a smarta$$ here: 65-67 and then again in 69, the optional side pipes could be ordered from the factory and they were installed at the factory, not the dealers. Maybe you're thinking of Camaros with the chambered exhaust being shipped in the trunk to be installed by the dealer
@@Yankeededandy62 I must be recalling it incorrectly then. I used to be Chevrolet fanatic, but I guess it's been a long time since I read the books. Thanks for the correction. By the way, back in the '60's there was a number of factory options that had to be installed by the dealer, like the exhaust you mentioned.
@@Yankeededandy62 , not smartass! I appreciate truth, even if it causes conflict. I was too young to buy cars in 1967, so I don't know those details! Thanx for sharing!

@Jeff, I was wondering why I have such an affinity for this car? I just Googled C2 to find out what it means, and I saw plastic models of the 67 Corvette! I just remembered, I put one together when I was about 14ish. That's why it is special to me.

The most beautiful car ever made. This is the Holy Grail

A midyear big block Corvette has been my ultimate ultimate dream car for YEARS. There's nothing that sounds like a big block with side pipes. It's the best sound in the world!
By the time I'm 50 I'm gonna have one. I'm 35 now, so plenty of time :P And besides, I have two kids, who are into cars, so it would be really unfair to have only a two-seater :P
Hi Christopher, Happy to read this is a "Dream Car" for you :-) Hope you're behind the wheel of one like this soon, Lou
thats a beauty!...427/435... factory drag👍🏻
Nice :-)
Thank you so much Lou. And you know what, those engine's HP and they were under rated for insurance purposes. Some people, like engineers, computed that they were close to 500 HP and the L88's were way above 500 HP. It's a shame.there is no paper trail documenting what the "real: HP was.😢
Thanks again Lou. Save the Wave.

The Shangri-Las sang when I say I'm in love I'm in love LUV. It could have been a hit in '67. It was a rarity when I drove an automatic. The purr. The pull. The sound. And the top. Would you put the top down? Oh sure, it'll take two seconds! Oh did I say how beautiful this car is? When you said jewelry I thought, okay cars for you, diamonds for me. The Stingray. very famous. the king of CORVETTES,THE BADEST OF THE BAD-ASS
High praise :-)
1967 was the first year of the GM corporate rule that only the Corvette was to be factory offered with multiple carburetors. Pontiac was forced to discontinue its 3x2 barrel tri-power option on its GTO in favor of a single Quadrajet. Chrysler offered its 440 with a similar 3x2 barrel setup in 1969 and 1970. This is an outstanding car!
Hi murray1575, Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Happy to read you enjoy this "outstanding car!" :-) Lou
And Chevrolet had plans to offer Tri-Power versions of the 454 on Corvette in 70 but the short model year and other problems with the LS7 forced those plans to be cancelled, what a shame, it's such an awesome setup.
Jimmy hit the lottery buying this one. Wow!
Nice :-)
Back in 67 a friend's sister won a lottery. She bought the exact same car minus the white stripe. She drove it for a week scared herself half to death and then traded it back for a Camaro convertible with a straight six. She was very happy with the Camaro and drove it for many years.

I agree... jewelry, plain and simple. Just gorgeous! A co-worker of mine had one of these in the same blue color, unrestored, in near perfect condition in his garage back in the early 80's. I don't believe it was a convertible, however. It needed some work and I don't recall what it needed. Hi Pete, Nice! :-) Lou
Shudda brought yer SHADES on that trip eh Lou! I was just thinkin' (yeah THAT does happen now and again!) Anywho, I was thinkin'....This is a GREAT job for you bc you get to see and RIDE in many CLASSIC cars! What a way to scout out prospective cars to buy! You get the FEEL of all these great cars when riding in them! For example...I still remember 1965, when I was 12, me and 2 bros went back east , to Windsor, Ont. to spend the summer with grandparents. They had a new 1965 Dodge Polara, (NO power-steering) and I was used to riding in my dad's 1965 Pontiac Parisienne WITH power-steering! There was a HUGE difference in the FEEL/RIDE of the 2 cars! The Pontiac had a more 'softer' ride, yet, riding in the Dodge we could feel the road more. I think anyone who knows older cars gets what I am saying? It's curious the odd things we remember!
Hi Mr. BLACKHAWK, You're right many cars have many different "feels". Hapy to read you story too :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou

1967 was the highest horsepower year, for American hotrods. All that was missing from this featured car was the air cleaner flip over, so that spectators could hear the carburetors roar.
I don't recall ever seeing a vintage Corvette with a white interior of which IMHO couldn't get topped.
The Bigblocks were best at quarter mile time setting. The Smallblocks only outperformed the Bigblocks at racetrack handling, until the aluminum-blocked 427s appeared.

That looks just like the same car we had at Apache Motors in Scottsdale I. 1967-68. I worked there and drove it several times. Would take over to the car wash across the street from Scottsdale High School. Of course I took a detour thru the school parking lot. Once I had just got it washed and a little rain came over and wetted the street some. Could hardly let the clutch out without car wanted to go sideways! Fast damn car. It wasn’t our fastest though. That title went to the 62 Impala w; 409 r speed! And we had a 67 Plymouth that had 383 emblem on fender. Column shift automatic. 2 dr HT with bench seats. Damn thing really had a 426 dual quad hemi. Factory! Dick told me to park it on the front row Friday night. We had just got it and put new cheaply tires on it. I said are you crazy? Hemi on the front row? He said park it so I did and said it would not be there in the morning. It wasn’t! He had set it up to be stoled. Couple weeks later I went with Bob to a lot in Phoenix and there it was! Minus the engine and tranny!, we had nothing but hot rods! Many corvettes.

Although the 427/435 is "king" of the C2's, they are hot, heavy, and thirsty. I have a '67 NCRS convertible with a 327/300, and a '67 NCRS coupe 327/350 with factory AC, PB, PS, and side pipes. Both cars 4-speed, with 3:73 rears. Don't get me wrong: I wouldn't sneeze at a documented '67 tri-power. Hopefully, I'll be walking by when the current owner finally puts it up for sale!

Great car and nice place to enjoy it, I'm not sure if headrests are original, did they come with them?
Happy to read you enjoy this "Great car" :-) Hmmm, I think they might have been an option, and hoping a Viewer with knowledge car share.
In 1967, RPO side dual exhaust was a factory installed option at $131 and installed on 4,209 cars. Most were added later. Numerous ways to tell if original. Some even removed them due to excessive noise.
Hi George, Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
The L71 tri power option was actually a rare option back then but you wouldn't know it today as there seems to be more of them now and they all have "documentation". You have to be careful before purchasing cars like this.
Tri-Power wasn't that rare back then, 25.6% of all Vettes built in 1967 had it. And if you narrow it down to just big blocks, 60.4% of all 427 cars had it. In total, there were 5.871 built with it but agree, way more today!
I want one!!
Hope you're behind the wheel of the right one for you soon.

Hi Sizz, High praise :-) Lou
Isn't that Corvette fantastic, my favourite colour as well. The sound of the factory exhaust is just music to the ears. I was surprised the car was a bit jiggly going down the road. I guess it shows how tight the suspension is because I think this car is on bias ply tires and ooked like the pressures were to spec, which to me is too low and leaning towards a softer ride, I know that sounds like a contradiction! Nevertheless such a wonderful piece of automotive Americana sculpture...from Australia.
