This seems like a great coach, telling them to get in a pace by listening to their bodies and reeling them back in when they try to make it a race. That used to annoy me, when the coach instructed the fastest runners to run a certain pace & the slower runners would try to make it a race & try to prove something.
August Landmesser1936 Yeah, I get that. What you do is run really fast in the real workouts, and prove what you need to prove then. The slower kids try and make it a race on the easier runs, it really sucks.
It sucks but that's how I made it from bottom of JV to the top of Varsity, I had to beat the fast kids in each run to build up speed so I could beat them in the races too.

I just went to the camp of champions camp which olds grades 7th-12th and it was honestly the best camp ever, very entertaining, fun and you learn a lot from it and being able to run with fin, Seth, Morgan and others like Tyson and and tanner which was amazing if you’re looking to get more motivated and better yourself check out the camp it is great!
Hey FloTrack! I have a recommendation for your videos. If you could lower the music and up the noise on voices that would be great, I feel like someone's trying to completely drown out sound.

It was much faster. The 3 mile tempo at 5:30-5:45 was just a warmup, they were going 4:40-4:45 on the track.
