Single hair strands, the medical term is trichonodosis. When I went natural I had the hardest time with these. These knots often lead to lots of breakage and shedding if you don’t take your time with it, your hair will break, shedding and Matt like nobody’s business so today I’m here to let y’all know some things you can do to minimize it.
Tips
1. Seal ends with an oil or butter.
This will tame the curls and provide it with a glide thus keeping your ends smooth and slippery which makes them less likely to get caught onto each creating the knots.
2. Avoid wash n go’s. After the first hour of your wash and go, your hair dries up in a loose, free state, and if you have any type 4 hair, you know it will naturally shrink up and they can get tied in knots this way. You don’t have to stop your wash n go's completely, but if your hair has the potential to knot a lot, you might wanna reduce these.
3. Wear a satin bonnet to sleep. Friction with your pillowcase will cause your hair strands to move around freely leading to more knots. Wearing a satin cap reduces the chances of friction, thereby reducing knots as well.
4. Twist your hair and tuck the ends. You can use these rubber bands that don’t get caught in your hair or use rollers or flexi rods
5. For 4C hair, Heat isn’t all bad.use the blow dry with heat tension method, threading method or the banding method.
6. Detangling: the thicker and kinkier your hair is,try to do more finger detangling. I know it’s tedious but your hair will thank you for it. Detangle thoroughly but gently, with a wide tooth comb (other combs can tighten existing knots and make them harder to detangle.)
7. Hairstylists are not your best friend! Especially those who asked you to wash and detangle your hair 4C hair before showing up. I often found that these stylists weren’t equipped to do my Curly hair. They were very harsh with it, and didn't use the adequate detangling tools.
When it comes to SHEDDING:
1. Low manipulation hairstyles
2. Small shedding is normal
3. Soak fenugreek seeds in water and rinse your hair with the solution you get out of it.
As these questions continue to come in, I will continue to make videos to answer them to the best of my knowledge because my reply to you can get lost in the comment, but from a video, other people can benefit from your questions.
💛Products mentioned 💛
1. Kokom butter
2. Murumuru butter
3. Mango butter

Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are those who take refuge in him- Psalms 2: 11-12.

I love how you do your complete research and give so much information. Quality. So many other youtubers just borrow "advice" from other youtubers/follow trends. I love the quality of this channel, you're actually being relevant. ❤️

Great tips! 💖 I solely finger detangle before putting any hair tool in my hair. I've done this for the past 4 years I've been natural. Its really not bad once you get use to it. Plus i always keep my hair stretched so wash day has been a breeze for me. I finger detangle with my diy aloe vera and african black soap shampoo.
First. Finally being awake by 1am is useful. I luv your videos and I am a new subscribers.
Thank you for this one kelcy , lockdown makes me more focused on my hair health 3 weeks of care pretty awesome 💘
I love the content, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Your hair is beautiful; I like the colorful hair accessories.
These informative natural hair videos that you're uploading are awesome. I also understand that this will be very useful for a lot of people. However, I would love to see some natural hair tutorials. I'm a natural who's already passed this stage in my journey. I'm sure many other naturals watching are as well. I hope you consider the suggestion. You have a great day.
That hairstyle is fire. You are rocking it.Love your tips that really do help us "4C" folks.

Ohh Lord I always have that single strand knot problem thank youu for this video lovely ☺️👸🏾!
Getting rid of SSKs require your ends to be clumped, lubricated and weighed down, so gel, oil/butters and stretching will reduce them. Your ends can still shrink on themselves in twists/braids.
Thanks
I love your Avi! 😍
Exactly what I'm going through right now! My hair is in braids but there are SSKs that aren't even in my ends
What type of gels are great pls?
@@hamletoduahofficial7647 those with film forming humectants, usually you'll see them with ingredients like aloe:)

Use an essential oil with a shea butter. I like spicy scents with mine, but use vanilla or lemon oil, just not a lot. I use anise oil, lavender and orange oil.

Reppin for Jamaica 🇯🇲!!!
Doubt that. Jamaica doesn't have red and green in its flag🙄. Ghana, Zimbabwe or even St Kitts & Nevis are better representations of those colours.
Donna Mitch Bob Marley was and is an icon in Jamaica who is Rastafarian. The Rastafarians use the colors red, green, gold and black. HENCE, my comment. Also, I’m not saying that those colors are exclusively Jamaican.
@@leondramadden2335Rastafarian's officially adopted the colours red, yellow/gold, green - not black. Rastafarianism also isn't exclusive to Jamaica either. So I still don't think Ms Kelcie's top was fully "Reppin for Jamaica". I'll go with Ghana but anyway, we all family....
Donna Mitch yes we are family..Jamaica is one of the most popular Carribbean country that loves, admire and respect the motherland Afrika!! And are proud Afrikans descendants

Can you do a video on how you use fenugreek!!
Hey.. I wanted to know if you can reuse the fenugreek seeds after using it once ?? Btw. I love your Chanel 💛💛
Don't know about anyone else but I've found that they actually start to sprout after like 2 days. And the concentration of....well the good stuff decreases after the first time so i would aay use a differnt batch.
The single strand knots are so much. My hair is so see through because of it
Have you tried the popular detangling brushes? Such as the Felicia Leatherwood brush or the EZ brush? Just curious.
Great tips !
Love your hair beautiful. I wanted to now is where is the best place to get the butters. Please and thank you
Following you sis❣️
i adore u girl❤
You look Heavenly!!!!!
Eugenia don't waste your time with the jealous fools, and please do not try to make them believe because people will believe what they want. Your hair is just Beautiful!!!😊
I’m neither of the things you listed I just luh u🙂

Hey I’m so in love!!!

Finally someone with my type of hair
I wanted to know what do you think about Apple Cider Vinegar rinse on 4c hair?
Thanks for subbing! i haven't really tried apple cider for hair yet but here is something i found online. "Apple cider vinegar balances hair and scalp pH. By lowering the pH of your scalp, ACV flattens and closes the hair cuticle. This makes your hair smoother and easier to detangle, shinier, less frizzy, less prone to breakage and more moisturized"--Google. let me know your results
Eugenia Kelcy I did after I took my box braids out. Might scalp had never felt so good. I’m definitely going to do it every other week. Thankss hun
Love your outfit. It’s cute.
New subscriber 😁🤗great info 👍
Thank for the tips
What do you apply to your hair on a daily basis?
I love your hair
Pls give a wash day video 😍😍
can you show us how to use the band method?
first comment!❤️❤️
Yes girl, noticed I had quite a few single strand knots recently, maybe I let my ends get too dry. Had to trim my ends, they were rough anyway and had to go. I have never done a wash and go though and always wear a satin bonnet. I will try this twisting and tucking of ends.
It’s like you heard me talking bout my single strand knots struggles
Can I leave the fenugreek solution in my hair if I choose not to rinse?
Your hair is so pretty with the clips.
I’m natural and my hair is almost waist length ❤️👍
I'm at a mid back plateau. Do you have any advice?
Ok... so what’s the secret
How do you do the thread technique? How does the thread technique look like?

Do you have any good recommendations to get real butters for the hair?
My hair doesn’t shrink as much as yours but following your tips are golden✨💓thank youuuuu. Over this pandemic I’ve been wearing a French braid with a satin pony @ ends. My typical style is microlinks and my hair is waist length. My question is 👉When is the gel applied?. Liquid (water), conditioner ( leave-in) then oil and gel in which order? Thank you 💕💕
In that order that you mentioned. Some people do Liquid, Oil, Conditioner, Gel, but you might to test both to see what your hair likes better.
rjmami8508 Awesome! 🤗. Thank you so much. You are such a star!!✨✨💕
Kelly Burge Thanks 😊

Just Jessica I appreciate you 🥺💛💛💫

I havent trimmed my hair for 11 years because i am just a kid and my hair grows very quick. my hair looks like the same lengh for like a few months but it also dosent can i get more tip? Thank you so much for anyone reading this. SORRY one nore question is it good to comb hair or finger detangaling hair in the shower? What combs are best for 4a 4b 4c hair? Okay im done!
Do you have to wash the Fenugreek seed formula out? What if you want to apply it as a daily product when you have box braids in?
