The differences between BW siege tank and SC2 siege tank in this mod BW siege tanks: cost 2 supplies, cost less 25 gas (100 gas), have +1 range (14 range in total), have 33% less fire rate in both modes (less dps), do more damage per shot vs light armor and non-armor attributed units (like SC2 queen and ravager), have 25hp less (150hp), need siege mode upgrade. SC2 siege tank: cost 3 supplies, cost more 25 gas (125 gas), have - 1 range (13 range), have 33% more fire rate in both modes (higher dps), do less damage per shot vs light armor and non-armor attributed units per shot, have 25hp more (175hp), no need for siege mode upgrade. Both do the same damage vs armor units per shot. Conclusion: BW siege tanks focus on the ease of mass production and superior number due to cheaper cost and less supply cost but sacrifice dps for it, but the extra +1 range does make up a bit. SC2 siege tanks focus on quality per unit with with extra hp and much stronger dps, but cost more to make and take up 50% more supply, so you will always have less number than BW siege tanks.
so nice to see the lockdowns into play. i remember back in the broodwar day trying to micro my casters... needed to manually select single unit, or all 12 of them would cast the same ability on the same target. i wonder if the defensive matrix is a lot better managable in sc2
I disagree with spider-mines doing so much DPS. In the first second, sure. But let them fire for 10 seconds, then they only do 10% of the damage in a second

Buuuut, in BW, the siege tank absolutely dominates the Terran battlefield, while in SC2 it merely plays a support role

I don't know how it was transitioned in sc2. but in brood war tanks do about double damage in siege mode.
SC1 units just highlight how convluted and pointless some of the SC2 unit design is
But they also how much dynamic and exciting SC2 is, compared to SC1. You have way more choices in SC2.
It's weird that it always look like the terran was losing in a lot of stalker pushes and then the stalkers can't make the final push.

All of Brood War's OP spells are sooooooo much more manageable now, and so much more fun to use as a result.

Uhh, are we talking about the same unit? Mines are suicide units, they impact, explode, and are gone.
Yeah, spidermines dps in a long term is bad ! It just doesn't attack after the first time 😂

I have done this vs AI. It's pretty fun using the classic units I love, but at SC2's way better pace. I hope we see this too.
