  • In my previous tree video we looked at mixing photogrammetry with procedural trees. But what if you've got several trunks and you want to create the trunks in a different, non-procedural way? This video shows the easiest way to do it.

DO you have an ACTUAL book? Or is this online only? I think I'd like a physical book. :)

Go for a walk, find a cool looking tree, walk around it while shooting video with your phone and then go home and import the video in Meshroom or Realitycapture. Export the 3D model and import it in Blender, you're done!

If it's your own photogrammetry you could also just use photos as a reference, one day I'll get outside to do this.

    Can't I make a tree just with M-tree

    • @BlenderSecrets
      @BlenderSecrets  3 года назад +3

Sure, I made a video just about that! ruclips.net/video/EdY6T1Uq6L4/видео.html (As well as several videos just about MTree). But in this case, with the many trunks, it's more convenient to manually create the trunks, for more control.

Photogrammetry = AN AWFUL LOT OF POLYGONS

You can bake the result to a low poly mesh, if that’s a concern of you.

      @@camelcase_43363d scan the tree
      Delight it in Lightroom.
Bring it to zbrush/blender and use zremesher/quad remesher plugin and turn down the polygon to like 5k to 20k tris.
Now bake the high poly to low poly in blender/Marmoset Toolbag.
Now bring the low poly scanned base with normal map to speedtree
Now combine photogrammetry tree to speedtree branches (*basically stitching them) and creating realistic trees.
And create leaves(*for leaves you need to do photometric stereo process not photogrammetry
Put all of the leaves in a black background cardboard/surface
Total black like black velvet or black musuo black paint from Japan and paint on surface
Now keep camera with tripod turning towards the leaves at down.
Now using lights on different angles take pictures
      8 - 12 different angles.
Now bring them to substance designer/sampler/art engine
      And do multiangle to material
Now you have your normal map
      Bring the leaves to photoshop
Create albedo , specular , ambient occlusion , gloss map(*gloss is the invert of roughness map , you need gloss map as speedtree supports gloss map , subsurface scattering
If u wanna know how to create these then search how to create leaves for speedtree on youtube
For the AO and specular you gotta search other tutorials.
If you wanna know more about photometric stereo then get FastTrack Tutorials course on Easy Foliage For Games or Creating a Swamp Scene for Games using speedtree and photogrammetry course by gnomon workshop.
Also Gregorz Baran RUclips channel and creative shrimp photogrammetry course .
      I hope it helps.
Basically what I told you is the full process.
If u wanna go more in depth then you gotta buy speedtree, quad remesher addon , and these courses.
If u want the best bake results then Marmoset Toolbag.

@@camelcase_4336 From my experience its relatively simple and there are a few addons that do most of it as long as you understand the process, but it is a very good process, take the complicated textures and place them on a lower polygon model using, pretty nice!
