I always loved the Westcountry era because when I went on my holidays down to Weymouth each summer these were always a good memories for me.

Westcountry idents we’re always my favourites. The rolling waves one is definitely the best of the bunch though.

My childhood ITV channel. I still remember how it was all gone overnight to Carlton without warning. These idents still hold up today.

The ident at 13.20 was most seen overnight. Still think it was the best one as it played out in full a lot.

Why did it take so long to see the wild sea waves ident? That was my one and only favourite 🎉

Nice upload. The permanent Bandicam Web address at the top is rather annoying though

who composed these? Were they another early Lambie Nairn package? Anyone know where a clean set might be?

Were they done in-house? The constant introduction of new idents but still following the same basic design (usually new batches were introduced a couple of times a year) and that they were still introducing new variants well into 1999 which wouldn't get used for very long doesn't lend itself to a package that was commissioned from somewhere else given how much that would cost.

Well Not Really but most of the Idents were filmed outside of the South West!

@@chriswathen9612 The original set was produced by an external design agency, but subsequent variants were produced in-house.

Not a patch on TSW both station wise and ident wise. On my many visits to the west country I did feel sorry for you folks. I think this station was every thing that was wrong of the francise system, and we've seen the same in the rail industry too. I think this was an early experiment in the eventual demise of local TV.

You are so right there then too of course. Although I live in Kent and did not see these at the time then, it was really as with the other then new ITV companies really. I mean Carlton, who alas took over Westcountry later on; but also with Meridian; GMTV and Teletext as well. None really were as good of course as those they replaced of old-Thames; TSW; TVS; Tv-am; and Oracle as well. A deep shame really too but there you are then-that is what the then ITC decided at the time so too.
