    Compared to the BBC and Channel 4, ITV was seen as weak as it was fractured into different franchises with the bigger companies like Granada, Scottish Television and Central fighting for supremacy, putting themselves first regardless to the damage they were doing to the ITV network. So the 1989 attempt at bringing the companies together under the ITV name but at the same time maintaining the local providers identify should be praised

    • @Garylpool1
      @Garylpool1 Год назад +3

      @@Vinnytv7679 No because strangely the London companies Thames and LWT were more for having a united ITV. Yorkshire Television were always looking over their backs for fear of being bought out and eventually were by Granada. What is odd is Granada were very much against a united ITV image and yet they continued to buy up the other ITV providers and we now have a network that doesn't go by the name of the local provider but by itv.

    I don't know who in ITV decided to put logos in an inverted triangle, but was a terrible idea. OK, some of them did look good (the H in Harlech fit well, and the saltire in Grampian was naturally good on everything) but most of them are just cropped, badly-shaped logos. Terrible idea from ITV. Congratulations on Yorkshire to putting the Y in full up there

      @VermyScrubs Год назад +2

      Ok while yes a lot of them are pretty poor in quality, the problem here was with the execution not the idea. In fact I would go on to say it was a pretty genius idea to involve each regional logo into the main ITV brand. But clearly who ever was in charge of designing the regional identities just didn’t understand how to incorporate it in a way that was sensible being completely hit or miss producing delightful Thames, LWT and Grampian to the fairly bad Granada, Channel and the First Yorkshire variant
