I don't understand why some people don't like Westcountry, there's something about the idents it had that I really love. The calm music, the shots of the western countryside... it's just lovely.
Request: 3-G Home Video, which will be the next logo history. It's an low-budget home video company that lived from the 1980's all the way up 'till the 1990's. Known for its cheesy logos, with one of these being a scary logo...
My three-favourites are: 3rd ident (Westward), 1st ident (TSW) and the Westcountry ident. I like the modeling of the ship in the Westward ident, the TSW ident has absolutely stunning Scanimation and groovy music from the 1980s and the Westcountry one is very simplistic, but it does have a relaxing nature.
Westward presentation looked to clunky and amateurish. The animated TSW logos never formed up to match the colours and proportions of the static versions used for production slides and so forth, not that anyone would have noticed or cared. The Westcountry Ws were captivating when the background footage was dynamic, but at their worst the subject matter was virtually still. Some of the jingles were pleasant and others just down right weird. Altogether a very electric selection.
To think a small company like Westward could have an ident like that and Granada television, one of the biggest could just about put a giant G on screen and they thought that was good enough.

i love westcountry, i think people only dislike it because it replaced tsw and because old announcers like ian sterling or judi speres weren't rehired

Other than that though, I really enjoy the idents.
Probably because TSW were harshly treated in the opinion of many viewers.
