      Except the Sith don't just "use their emotions" They specifically harness only the negative emotions, and the nature of the dark side itself is to consume the positive emotions of its users, and make them do its bidding. A dark side practitioner, whether they only dabble, or are the greatest master in the history of the Galaxy, will always be subservient to the Dark Side.
      The Light Side however is stronger when one harnesses their positive emotions, though it takes immense self control and mental fortitude to maintain those positive emotions in all circumstances, and not let them dictate their actions, but rather punctuate them. And while Light Side users who do this are beholden to their side the same way Sith are, the Light Side works to maintain natural balance, while the Dark Side seeks only to gain power, giving no care for balance or order. THAT is when the Light is stronger than the Dark.

    • @SilimSavertin
      @SilimSavertin 5 лет назад +3

      The dark side is literally the power of EVIL. If you use it willingly and often, it corrupts you and turns you evil, and there's no way to stop that by "being in control of your emotions". Grey Jedi are bullshit, not canon and an insult to the franchise.

    • @blarg2429

Darth Custodes lived with Jedi closely, intimately, his darkness concealed, festering, until it could be held back no longer. His hate of the Jedi rivals Darth Maul's, and his fiendish guille matches Darth Sidious. In other words, nobody suspected anything because metagaming.

      > party betrayals are normally not a thing
      You kidding? Most of my games are party betrayals. Every session, without fail, someone will attack a fellow party member. Sometimes the ranger will accidentally hit an ally when shooting into a melee. That ally will get upset, turn around, and engage their ally in combat. To. The. Death. Or at least until someone KO's both members. At other times, the party will sneak off and sell the entire party into slavery. Will, more like gift-wrap. Sometimes the party will KO a goblin and the cleric wants that goblin dead, while the rest of the party want to interrogate them. In one case, the cleric proceeded to KO the entire party, less one member, in order to kill the goblin. The final party member got lucky and stopped him.

(not my fault) so the next time every one got hurt really bad and had to take a long rest I killed half em in their sleep and put the other half back to sleep with a handy scroll I found and kill em to. She got really tired of their blaming everything on me, dispite being the one navigating and checking for traps. and being on both first and last watch cuz elf only need 4 hour of sleep. the group was pissed, but the DM explained that she was trying to redeem herself by helping them in the first place. and ever went out of her way to make that clear. they never let me multiclass rouge after that.

    I'll be honest here, people take it too seriously when one of the party gets a huge evil plot going like that, people need to chill, it is a game after all, and if he didn't do it, eventualy someone else would pull that out of his sleeve. And in my most honest opinion, that Janitor was the most interesting character there, having actual character development rather than the niche cliche that all the others where doing, with their space samurai crap, while he ploted from behind, studying their flaws, improving on his own, growing stronger all by himself in the background just so he could actualy get his own hands on them, and when he finaly could, someone else took the sweet taste of vengeance away from him.
    Dude, like seriously, that one was just too good to go uncommented, if I ever ran into that player in a campaign, I'd 100% pay him a good Kebab for that one.

    Reminds me of the time I was in a D&D game in third edition The whole party treated my gnome wizard character horrible, at one time even holding him down to piss on him. I can't remember why or how that event came about I just remember it happened. The whole group was just fucked up and racist against gnomes or something. Anyway my character was the party 'everyman', I handled the cooking, cleaning, made the campfires,, sold our excess loot, and kept us stocked up on supplies and such, all the mundane things no one else really wanted to bother with because they didn't want to waste skill points on non-combat and other more important aspects. I bid my time through till the teen levels of the game and eventually worked with the DM with secret side planning for my eventual revenge, which even the DM could understand why as he saw just how bad they were treating my character. I was also the party Treasurer and kept up with our funds so no one but me actually knew how much we had, they just said when they wanted to get something and I would see if I could buy it whenever we were in big cities. So I sunk a lot of our party gold into getting various super expensive nearly impossible to pass poisons and no win situation magical items all to start setting up taking out the party. Basically setting up the perfect way to take out each person as I had the highest intelligence and the experience of adventuring with them all so long I could figure this all out well. (Kinda like that Justice League story of how Batman sets up plans for taking out any other member of the Justice League). I don't remember the details anymore of how I handled everyone. The human barbarian I had set up to take the fall of our big bad evil guy's crimes we were after and had used a device to convince him he did it by altering part of his memory so he believed it and accidentally confessed and was sentenced to death. The dwarf rogue I soul trapped with something to lure him and his greed by sticking it into our latest loot stash from the last evil guy's lair. And the I poisoned the food of the elf cleric as she had the lowest CON score of the group, but she wasn't a heal cleric, purely a damage spell one so had nothing to counter the poison that I made her helping of food with when we stopped for a breather in the middle of the evil guy's lair figuring it would give us enough time to finish the place but she would die shortly after we were done. The hard part was getting all these things to happen in one session.

    now I am a paladin, I worship the goddess Ianite, and I had recently been transformed into a half demon half angel by a pair of sentient cursed weapons. my grandmother is a red dragon in human form, my village was next to a friendly flight of white and blue dragons (one of which I witness the hatching of and essentially adopted her as an unofficial pet/younger sister) and I was even taught draconic by my grandmother to be more in tune with my roots. despite looking human I considered myself to be a dragon, and my whole reason for adventuring is to find a suit of armor that will allow me to become a dragon.
    now after all the torment I had gone through we were put into a tournament style scenario by a substitute DM, our normal one wanted to take a break and let one of our players take over. now he knew my love for dragons, I had made this quiet obvious through my characters dialogue over the past 2 years, so what is the first monster we face in the colosseum? a baby white dragon of course, not unlike the ones I played with as a child. I ask the dragon to surrender peacefully and ask my companions not to hurt it, the dragon is unable to leave because a spell was holding it and it's family there and my companions outright refused to spare the dragon, claiming they needed the reward money even though we were in the middle of a quest with a reward great enough to buy an entire kingdom (literally, the DM stated that the payout would be worth more than the entire kingdom we were currently in). so I did the only thing I could do, I stood beside the baby dragon and used my magic to protect it.
    I am a very powerful tank, I can make myself have 60 AC for 3 turns and during those 3 turns any attack directed at a friendly creature within 5 feet of me would instead be deflected towards me, and as a paladin I have tons of healing spells. unfortunately I alone am not enough to stop all the others who managed to kill the dragon. we were teleported back to our waiting room before I had a chance to cast revivify on it and everyone was pissed off that I betrayed the party (both in character and out). I calmly reminded them out of character about everything they had done, the fact that I tried to kill one of our party members who I felt betrayed me, and my immense love of dragons. my character had not ever gone against his well established personality traits and honestly they should have seen it coming.
    the next fight began and the same dragon was back with its mother. apparently the game master in charge of the colosseum (the man responsible for imprisoning them in the first place) had used magic to bring it back from the dead. this time the bard trapped me in a force cage to stop me from interfering. after a bit of trying I managed to break free using misty step (a spell nobody knew I had, myself included. the normal DM slipped it into my character sheet at some point while helping me level up and I only knew about it because I like to check my character from time to time in order to make sure I'm roleplaying him correctly) and I got in between the dragons and used my stronghold spell mentioned earlier. now I have 21 strength, yes 1 more than the max, very stronk, and because they literally couldn't roll high enough to get past my armor even if their irl lives depended on it they decide their only option is to push me out of range so the dragons become vulnerable again. the tiefling barbarian tackles me, but I do not budge an inch (very stronk) but then the 7 foot tall Reinhart looking muther fucker (paladin construct controlled by the normal DM who joined our party because the new DM couldn't control himself and the monsters without being biased. {it's ok though, he was just goku inuyasha clone and barely did any damage, only thing he really did was piss on stuff, good riddance}) decides to help him using a charge attack and pushed me out of range. all the spellcasters nuke the poor dragons with extreme prejudice.
    afterwards the bard bans me from our parties private island pocket dimension, and orders his awakened trees to destroy the alter I made to my goddess (serious dick move) then tried to rape me. I had a ring that protected me from the hypnotic effects of a succubus so I threw the horny bitch off. afterwards the game master teleported into our room to congratulate us on our victory. he tells us that the next battle will be between the last to dragons and the father of the baby. apparently he doesn't have the power to bring them back again so the next time we kill them they're dead forever, he also says it's a shame because white dragons are going extinct so he's having trouble finding more to use in battle. nobody bats an eye at this but I'm freaking out. I demand he let them go and challenge him to a fight saying he should face me himself instead of sending defenseless children into battle. he just waved me off and teleported away. it should be noted the person most excited about killing the baby is the formerly dragonborn bard who is lawful good alignment. he says he wants to kill them because metallic dragons hate chromatic dragons, like seriously? dragon on dragon racism, and he's not even a metallic dragon anymore, he got turned into a succubus and lost all her previous draconic features aside from the spiked tail and wings. the bastard even tried to use mass suggestion to make me hate dragons. now obviously the whole point of my journey was my love of dragons, my family are dragons, I consider myself a dragon. I no longer have any purpose in life, I can no longer love my family, and I see myself as an unholy abomination so I did the only thing a mind controlled paladin would do to an unholy abomination, I pulled out my greatsword and impaled myself on its blade.
    luckily the normal DM is returning next week and he said everything that happened during the other campaign is non canon and none of it actually happened. moral of the story, don't be baby smashing murder hobos and don't use mind control on friends.

      Don't suppose there's a way you can/could've slayed/maimed them in the name of your goddess, is there? Surely their actions go against your teachings in some sort of way that would allow you to smite them in righteous fashion; that dipshit bard was more than happy to defile an altar to your goddess, and I can't imagine she'd be too happy about that. Could certainly make for an interesting new twist in your DM's story, even if you don't actually manage to kill them.

      @@ShifterInTheShadows well there is a variety of reasons why I couldn't, every current member of the party are demon kings, I am the king of envy (shit powers, very confusing) and the demon kings are forbidden by an all powerful super god from harming each other until they have ascended (which is really hard to do for everyone except the king of gluttony), I asked the DM to rain holy judgment upon them for desecrating my beautiful shrine I carved with my bare hands, but they ruled that the island was the territory of the god of islands so my goddess of balance had no real authority there. luckily we were unable to finish this shitty questline designed specifically to dick me over and the normal DM has decided to make everything the temporary DM did non canon.

    I still don't get the problem with using the dark side??? Yeah sure its called that to sound evil but still! The light side of the force is basically saying that you must be an emotionless husk who is all logic, while the dark side is saying to use your emotions as power which is honestly beautiful in a poetic sense! I would MUCH rather use the dark side of the force than the light side. Btw, I couldn't stop laughing at the end as The Janitor fucking DEMOLISHED ALMOST EVERYONE. • @damobeck1
      @damobeck1 5 лет назад +7

      Mr La Meme the Lightside doesn’t say to be emotionless, only the Jedi do. Losing something or someone you are attached to is a painful experience which would lead one to anger.
      The Darkside doesn’t use emotion, just hatred and anger. All other emotions are just fuel to keep that hate going. The more you use the Darkside the easier it is to slip back into it.
      Ahsoka is interesting as she is a light side character who, as stated by both herself and Maul in Rebels, isn’t a Jedi. You see her be emotional a few times even displaying anger, yet she never gives into it.
      Ventress is another character who, in her book, uses emotions without falling to the Darkside, although she teeters along the edge a lot more than Ahsoka.

    • @damobeck1
      @damobeck1 5 лет назад +5

      If you want to dip into Legends, there is also Revan’s wife, Bastila. She discovers that emotions like love and joy deepen one’s connection to the Lightside and argues with the Jedi about it until Revan basically tells her that it isn’t worth trying to teach them.
      Again that is Legends but “love strengthens Lightside” sounds right up Dinsey’s alley

      Literally sith and Jedi are just philosophies and religions that people take to far. There's thousands of force users and even gray "Jedi" in the world. The movies and most books/games just follow the Jedi and sith cuz of the republic/rebels and the empire. And also apparently it's hard to make a normal person who uses the force. At least that's what Disney said even tho Bioware has done it a few hundred times and it's in the books and the clone wars cartoon. Tho strong negative emotions can lead to people lashing out and murdering people by accident that's why the Jedi want people to not use emotions. And the sith wants ya to only use the negative ones. It's like how the green lanterns are in DC universe. No emotions or else your a heretic.

    • @420mralucard
      @420mralucard 5 лет назад +4

      The biggest problem with the dark side is overuse tears your body to pieces because of the power. The light side is given the preferential treatment in lore and the like, though the Jedi are arguably a worse organization to be with considering how much they brainwash you into trying to remove a fundamental part of what makes you a person. Sith usually solve the problem of a Sith Order taking over by killing each other in a bid for power every couple hundred years or so and decimating the Sith Order, yeah they aren't very smart.
