@@SquishyBauBau Honestly it's been so long I can't remember. If you're thinking of getting the original games keep in mind that it's a very old game, the shooting mechanics will feel very dated, the fun lays in the world and the atmosphere, you could just play GAMMA but you likely won't understand what's going at times or who some characters are, though you could argue this makes it easier to role-play as a rookie Stalker.
Thank you, Drewski for all the various content! I've been watching you for months now, Hell, it may even be about a year long at this point, I watched all the STALKER GAMMA video's and it was in large part thanks to you that I finally checked out the trilogy on Steam, played through them all, and then checked out Anomaly, and finally, GAMMA. Your content has helped me through some tough times and still helps me. So thanks man, I appreciate ya. Happy to be here and happy to have helped you in any way.
I've been a STALKER fan since the original games but it was YOU Drewski that introduced me to GAMMA and you're the reason I'm currently doing a series on it. Thanks so much man!
I had something similar. Just I was checking a stash on the floor in a world of my own and as soon as I came out of the inventory menu and looked up my entire screen was filled by a leaping Chimera. Shit myself.
My dude, I could watch you play GAMMA every week. It's so interesting and relaxing. You never know what can happen in the zone and that's what makes this game so amazing
Yup. Because npc/anomaly/openworld system based on very very developed random events “ai”… it has some naming, I’m just can’t recall it. Zone literally live it own life with whole npc doing something.
Drew, I have watched you for year's & have always loved the content you put out & the variety of games you play. If you do an ad I ain't even mad, it's your channel you do what you do & I will continue to be here watching.
I once had an anomaly that removed the existence of knives as once I pulled one out it forcibly reset the universe then eventually just removed MY existence when I went to fix the anomaly.
The jumpscares on this game are something else. I'll never forget the first time when I was in truck cemetery on the southeast tower just scouting before I went deeper, I saw a pack of 3 lurkers between all the parked vehicles, sniped one of them and after I killed the second one I realized that the last one was missing. I thought "I'll just wait until he shows up again, the only way he can get to me is via a ladder which *surely* he can't climb". Oh boy how wrong I was, I can't remember the last time a game made me that scared shitless.

@@kimseniorb Because he has different graphics mods on. This isn't how the game ALWAYS looks, you can make it however you want. The way the game looks in his video is just because that's the way he personally seems to like it
Not sure if you know this, but in the Modlist you can activate Mags Redux, a mod that adds Magazine Management similar to Tarkov to the game. This adds a whole new level of preparation and "survival" to the game. May seem a bit tedious, but I tried my last run with it and never want to play without again.
@@allankanegalian6401 You need to either carry a lot of extra mags already loaded in the backpack to avoid that situation or use a secondary weapon that does not use mags like pump shotgun or SKS with stripper clips. Or else you just need to runaway if it happens as the AI will close the distance quickly if you mess with your inventory in a firefight.
@@allankanegalian6401 It can certainly lead to some oh shit moments. The AI is pretty smart in combat so you need to make sure that if you're forced to reload your mags you do it in some solid cover as far away from your attacker as possible. But then you also run the risk of them deciding to throw a grenade at you when they can't see you.
@@P-LikanLoading up on extra mags doesn't solve all your problems, the mags need to be assigned to slots on your suit and there's a finite amount of them, once you've used up the mags on your chest rig you need to manually dig out fresh ones from your backpack before you can fire more.
@@Green__Ghost True, but it is still handy to do because concretely it means you enter your inventory behind cover and press ALT+ left click to assign them to available slots which only takes a few seconds, instead of having to spend a long time first loading the bullets into empty mags during a gunfight. There is an option in the mod (MCM menu) that allows you to have the empty mags easily accessible after they get emptied.
Dropping by after binging ALL of your STALKER videos, love this type of content. Your editing has came a long way from the first in this series 2 years ago, very clean. Commentary and gameplay are top tier, never a dull moment. The 1 life iron man challenge is addicting, when I watched your character die I was legitimately saddened to not have more to watch. Keep up the amazing work, you deserve all the success in the world!
Drewski, Settings tip: If you want to make GAMMA even more dynamic go to ZCP settings under the MCM. Set: 2 days respawn Stalker population 0.75 Mutant population 0.75 or more (I like 1.5) This will kick in the A-Life migration effect, meaning Stalkers and Mutants will roam around the world more, leading to encounters in unexpected locations as the AI moves from their original location to another unoccupied spawn zone. This almost never happens on a daily respawn as the zones keep getting repopulated, leaving no unoccupied spawn zones to prompt migration. The population increase is to make up for the lower spawn rate. Note: - the effect is most pronounced at 0.75 Stalker pop. Anything more does not work as well for whatever reason. (edit) UPDATE: GAMMA's default setting of Emissions every 12-24 hours seems to prevent NPC migration based on assassination task tracking tests. Setting it to a minimum of 1-2 days should enable it (I use 2-4 days for blowouts, 1-2 for psy storms).
@@H56Nooc Nope. The difference is most apparent if set before starting a new game. Changing it after results in a very gradual shift as the existing spawns need to depopulate first. That said, since this is an increase in overall population it should be fine. I have never tested that though.
@@TheKodiak72 GAMMA's default pop is 0.45, so 0.75 is actually an increase. Having written mods for SOC, I'll tell you that, to some degree, a high population does not actually lead to seeing a lot of stalkers. Because with maxed out 'gulags' or camps stalkers do not move, which leads to the zone feeling less populated. I found that creating movement leads more to the feeling of a populated zone than sheer numbers. It's like how during a lockdown a city can suddenly feel empty. It's not about the mathematics, it's about creating that sense of 'life'. I know it sounds counter-intuitive but the only way to know is to give it a try. A run of about 10 in-game days should give you a good idea of what's going on.
your "Airsoft sight" that you were shitting on is one of my favorite sights in the game because it doesnt block your vision at all with bulky sides and shit and allows you to identify shit easier and faster.
it's just a sight that's popular among airsofters cause airsoft tends to be cqb (same reason for video games). but i think it's funny that some people forget that a video game is even more pretend than airsoft lmao
Please always give us one of these every once in a while. I’ve spent a lot of time in GAMMA but your play through a are what got me into modding Stalker.
My first play through of gamma I chose a mosin and I struggled so much due to the price and limited amount of the ammo I could get. But it was still some of the the most fun I’ve had gaming, in general
The granular progression that happens in G.A.M.M.A needs to be a thing in most first person shooters. It's the main thing that makes it one of the best games I've ever played. I imagine daily what it would be like to play G.A.M.M.A online with a couple of friends with destructible environments. It would be pretty awesome to have to think about the condition of the buildings you're taking shelter in during a psi-storm because there is a chance that they could be torn apart.
Totally agree. It’s wild how good the progression is in Gamma in what seems like every aspect of the game (from gear to just living in the zone). Also crazy how modern shooters don’t even touch what Gamma has. If that translated over into a multiplayer game, wow. Personally enjoy the single player experience more, but I know people are itching for this type of progression in the online space.
@@JonoLB I think it’s because big companies won’t take a risk like that. Instant gratification and ease of gameplay probably appeals to the masses more so you’re more likely to sell games. Modders on the other hand don’t have that issue. Which is a shame because having downtime in games and struggling makes the good moments way more satisfying than most other titles.
@@xStarblazer agreed. No risk, no reward! But it’s gotta be hard on the big developers and the people working in them cause the industry has become one where passion and risk taking have to take a backseat because the higher-ups want the game out the door on the market too soon. Almost like it’s become too business minded and less gamer/depth minded. All this being a general statement of course.
Even open world racing games could benefit from this, most arent very progressive already, but opening up forza horizon and starting with a lambo, just no goals left in the game.
It is really a shame. The things that make some games the exceptional gems that they are, are the same things that game developers never touch with a 10 feet pole - managing risk, dealing with losses, and enjoying downtime. Also, Stalker doesn't really hold you to the stupid RPG rail progression where you go between tiered locations to farm infinite mobs in specific locations. GAMMA came a long way of making the few available locations as believable ecosystems. Nobody is going to tell you if you should not go to Red Forest - the location itself will be pretty convincing in that sense once you first take a step in. But noooo, AAA studios will keep making the same RPG progression rails, which should've went out of fashion a decade ago, yet we're still dealing with it. Dunno about destructible environments, but simply having a large enough open world with strong PvE content that doesn't lead you by the leash, instead of DayZ "kill dumb zombies with an axe" or Escape Tarkoff "camp the tryhards by the spawn", would go a long way. It's hard to predict the potential audience for it tho...
that dude glitching when you switched to not live and your scream had me rolling. this is great content, love the video. It makes me want to play the game for sure.
Just discovered the S.T.A.L.K.E.R universe earlier this week. Gotta say, G.A.M.M.A has been absolutely amazing! Downloaded it 6 days ago and have easily put 40+ hours in already! Bravo mod team. 👏
Fun fact: most games actually only simulate where the shrapnel from a grenade goes, but in STALKER games (or at the very least Anomaly) there are actually particles that explode out of the grenade! Which is a reason why at 8:20 he still took damage from the grenade, imho :D
@DrakyHRT it's actually modelled in game but it's rare, go to Battle Buddy which fetches from the API and you will see "F1 Shrapnel" under 9x18 section , it's just rare. There are reddit clips of it happening at 20m far away than it should kill you normally. It's just extremely rare
Talking about how the Gamma videos don't get the views, they are my favourite ones you do, and it seems this one broke the mold with the view count XD Good job!
Anomaly never stops impressing me with experiences and stories to tell. Context: Last night, I was doing the main story in Outskirts (getting lab documents for Strelok) when I got ambushed by UNSIG. While fighting them off, I get third partied by Monolith who were embeded with a group of zombified stalkers. So a massive 3 way struggle between me, UNSIG, and Monolith ensues where I ultimately come out on top. If anybody looking for a replayable game, this IS the one and doesn't even require crazy hardware to run either.
Thanks to Drew, I've become so addicted to this game that I learned guitar just so I could play the campfire songs. Edit: And, I've also learned the Cyrillic Alphabet to better translate some of the song names. This game has literally bettered me as a person at this point.
Saaaaaame Spent a long weekend playing nothing but Gamma, guitar in-hand, bottle of vodka in the pouch of my chestrig. Absolute blast. Edit: based guitar_7 enjoyer
agreed. takes a while to get the hang of it, but it wouldn't be a good survival game if you were not punished for inexperience. I accidentally started a scirmish between my own faction and the military by walking way too close to the military camp. they followed me to the rookie camp and a big fight broke out. I like how this game make me feel like a side character, rather than "the hero that always win". It's very immersive.
Any Stalker video from Drewski is a must watch. For being a long driven single player game where there is much downtime where you sort inventory and do other stuff, its super fun to watch the playthroughs with this manner of editing.
Thank you OperatorDrewski for introducing me to STALKER GAMMA in your previous videos! I've been playing it ever since and it's so good, I've been looking for a game like this for ages! I'm doing an ironman 1life/very dark nights/no mini map no fast travel, it's pain but I love it so much 💀 I've been keeping a notebook with my attempts haha
I have been playing Stalker since it first came out and I am delighted that not only it's still alive but that it's better than ever. Insane community for an insane game.
Drewski, don't ever feel like you have to stream one game and can't do variety but.... thank you. Thank you for making new content using G.A.M.M.A. Your style and delivery is so good for making enjoyable narrative content with this game. We're just chilling with you, playing GAMMA together. It's like watching Pestily (or yourself) play Tarkov. There's nothing like watching an engaging journey with footnotes provided by someone who knows the game expertly. Cheers!
Im never huge on hyper realistic games and milsims but everytime Drewski uploads I drop everything to see it. Something about the way he plays and his commentary is so entertaining to me. Keep it up man :)
It's not hyper realistic , the ai is broken, game is filled with explosives traps and maze of supernatural mines. You are a single person against bands of bandits with aimbots with perfect night vision. If you don't have amazing aim you can't play this game , it's a chore
@@Jaime_Protein_Cannister are you talking about anomaly or gamma? or Stalker cause base stalker: fair enough ig depending on the game anomaly: that should not be an issue, if it is check if you have hardcore AI aim (aka AI aimbot) is on, cause if so there is your issue. if anything i'd think the complaint would be that the AI is broken and only works half the time the other half it will just act stupid as hell or stand there while you snipe at a distance etc. hardcore AI aim i'd say makes it feel like your playing dayz or something but isn't super realistic in the sense of how accurate some stalkers are. like i'd get the occasional dude being a good sharp shooter, but your average random fucken rookie bandit? XD nahh either way i'd say check your settings cause it shouldn't be like that. if you're playing GAMMA: well.. that might be your problem.
i like how you enjoy the little things in this game even tho its a huge change 54:14 ya know the guns and armor, love it you remind me of someone i use to play a survival game with, he always enjoy the little things when making change
I rediscovered your channel after 2 years. I'm now caught up with all your videos. I'm excited every time I get to just chill with Drewski's commentary for a couple hours.
If your looking for another survival game with similar levels of immersion, and your ok with pixel art, CDDA is free and is crazy in depth with it's realism and survival mechanics Oh and it's free if you download it on their website, ignore the steam listing it's like 20 bucks
Workshops: Drewski, unless they changed it in this version, you can open the workbench by right clicking and selecting 'open workbench' on the toolkit. Which means you don't have to use the trader benches. You can workbench anywhere as long as you have the right toolkit on you. (Also higher tier toolkits contain lower tier tools as well. So an advanced toolkit also allows you to craft basic toolkit gear.)
OK so I dislike gaming videos, I find them super boring and I can't even watch one for 5 minutes also I don't know anything about Stalker Gamma (besides reading the novel) but god damn you've made me watch all of your video in one sitting. You're so entertaining! you might have literally changed what I think about gaming videos in general! Your commentary is just so well crafted some stuff you said during the vid made me appreciate the little things about the game quite a lot.. you're pretty cool subbed!
Fantastic video, Drewski! I love how how clean your edits are, and how you're able to highlight so much of what makes this game great just by playing through it--both are very inspirational. You really manage to find some gems within the Zone's emergent gameplay.
Coffee is something I try and keep on hand in my GAMMA game. Not only does it restore hunger, thirst and sleep but it also cures dizziness, either from alcohol or from meds. Makes it perfect for post-fight healing since it restores the satiated lost from meds, though it's expensive since you need to buy mineral water, coffee grounds and cooking supplies to make it. Very worth it though in my book.
BTW If you need to craft anything/ swap parts/ make ammo in the field as long as you have the appropriate toolset (basic, adv, exp, drug, gunsmith) in your inventory you can right click on any of them in your inventory and open the workshop menu. Works exactly the same as a workbench, just gotta contend with the weight.
@@cafe8681 there's been a few updates recently, i'd try to update your files through the launcher first before resorting to a fresh install. Not gonna lie my dude, rn you're the only youtuber that gives me those "Frankieonpc feels" every time I watch your videos but with your own style. I mean it in the best possible way, best successor imo. So engaging and refreshing.
I wanna give this game series a shot but man it make just freaks tf out of me too much lol. Also that’s crazy you just learned about campfire heals. It makes the iron man playthrough all the more impressive that you managed lol
It is a freaky game, the atmosphere is still so good for such an old game, but the really anxiety inducing parts are many hours into the main story, which you can ignore indefinitely and still have a lot of fun (especially with the GAMMA mod pack). And, like atlegendary said, gearing up a bit also helps. If you can kill most things in a couple of shots it's not so bad coming across them randomly. The thing about campfire heals is that it takes time, and difficulty is linked to time in GAMMA. So it's possible that using campfire heals in his ironman play through could have made the game more difficult a bit sooner.
Even though I've been trying to get into this modpack for what seems like forever but just cant seem to progress I still love it so much and Im determined to conquer it. Watching this video made me wanna go start up a new character and give it another shot and upon doing the first mission to kill some bandit in the Cordon I got ambushed by 3 more after getting the main guy and I managed to kill 2 of them but the third had me backed into a corner and I was completely out of Toz ammo. Thought I was fucked but two loners ran up out of nowhere at the last second like it was out of a movie and shredded the dude and saved my life. I fucking love this game.
"Come with me if you wanna leave" :D I love this series. Gosh, I wish this game had coop mode. Wandering with friends would be mind blowing, often literally.

It's a pain in the ass to download but it's SOO worth it. Stalker has had the most dedicated modding community since Shadow of Chernobyl in 2007 and Grok put so much love into taking hundreds of mods and making Gamma. Remember to L ALT when you loot!!!
Keep in mind, this footage is prettyyyy modded (unless this is from the new game about to come out, though, it’s likely from the GAMMA mod) The main trilogy is amazing still tho! So you know the right order: Shadow of Chernobyl Clear skies Call of Pripyat That is da order of the dames, though clear skies is like a prequel
you not gonna find another game better than Stalker....i wish it was but with the "suits" leading game companies base on numbers of sells, we not ever get a good game. And in this game Stalker Anomaly all weapons work as intended...not like peeshooter weapons from Division games where enemies are bullet spong
16:27 how did drew not know this? there is a artefact (signet) and in its description is: faster healing near campfires. faster healing. this alone should tell you about it. this mechanic also led to me rp'ing near a fire with other stalkers. its really nice edit: correction, it does not say faster healing... but the way it is worded might imply that healing is only possible when having it equipped. grok should change that
Dude, when I've seen this video and it's lenght on my feed I said to myself I'm just gonna check it, cause I don't feel like wanting to watch it for an hour. So instead watching a little bit of it for like few minutes, I've ate an hour of footage and felt like it was just a moment. Thanks for the entertainment, Drewski!

I still remember my best HC run being ended by a chimera that literally jumpscared me when I came around a corner and just instantly killed me :(

I encountered 6 Chimeras & 4 controllers near the lab in pripyat outskirts. Luckily was using my chill save & not Ironman .

Mine was 2 snorks and a controller in Lab-X8. Was a good run but my armor lacked.
I had something similar. Just I was checking a stash on the floor in a world of my own and as soon as I came out of the inventory menu and looked up my entire screen was filled by a leaping Chimera.
Shit myself.

@@MeowPh1 it didn't crash your game, it simply reset S.T.A.L.K.E.R universe back to your previous save forcefully, just another anomaly
I once had an anomaly that removed the existence of knives as once I pulled one out it forcibly reset the universe then eventually just removed MY existence when I went to fix the anomaly.
I've had a 120+ hours save file corrupted, that's how powerful the Zone can be
The jumpscares on this game are something else.

An hour of Drewski AND it's gamma? Damn right I'm gonna drop what I'm doing for this.
Yeah completely agree
Not sure if you know this, but in the Modlist you can activate Mags Redux, a mod that adds Magazine Management similar to Tarkov to the game. This adds a whole new level of preparation and "survival" to the game. May seem a bit tedious, but I tried my last run with it and never want to play without again.
I can see this causing some really tense situations as your forced to reload a mag with loose cartridges cus of a prolonged firefight
Drewski, Settings tip: If you want to make GAMMA even more dynamic go to ZCP settings under the MCM. Set:
2 days respawn
Stalker population 0.75
Mutant population 0.75 or more (I like 1.5)
This will kick in the A-Life migration effect, meaning Stalkers and Mutants will roam around the world more, leading to encounters in unexpected locations as the AI moves from their original location to another unoccupied spawn zone.
Ah, now THAT'S why I couldn't further appreciate the game. Thanks for the tip!
Does changing the population require a new game?
@@H56Nooc Nope. The difference is most apparent if set before starting a new game. Changing it after results in a very gradual shift as the existing spawns need to depopulate first.
That said, since this is an increase in overall population it should be fine. I have never tested that though.
I would not drop the stalker pop that much. My world with 1.0 is already barren.
Man i am HERE for the stalker content, every time I see you post stalker my day gets immediately better.
your "Airsoft sight" that you were shitting on is one of my favorite sights in the game because it doesnt block your vision at all with bulky sides and shit and allows you to identify shit easier and faster.
it's just a sight that's popular among airsofters cause airsoft tends to be cqb (same reason for video games). but i think it's funny that some people forget that a video game is even more pretend than airsoft lmao
@@noelemblem true. but real life, only downside to that sight is that it's not difficult to break. but that's the cost of having such a thin frame.
I could watch these every day
Please always give us one of these every once in a while.

@@OperatorDrewski Thx!
@@OperatorDrewskiOH HO MAN, this aged like fine wine
my favorite thing about stalker is that you can tell it genuinely doesnt give a fuck about the player
I started my first ever gamma run with only a leather jacket because I didn't know any better. That start was TOUGH
I absolutely love the variety of your channel brother! But have to say watching you play stalker is my favorite!
man im gonna always support what you do after all it's always better to know that one of our favorite youtuber, loves his job and what he does
More stalker? Yes, please!
i would love a multi-part series of this
Thanks for the awesome video Drewski, you are killing it once again 😃 !! Keep in mind rads can be fought with rad protectant drugs or the metal bottle or some specific high tier mutant food. About Starfield GAMMA: eeeeeh I don't like Starfield enough to spend that much time modding it hahaha. Btw the "loot pinatas" stalkers were fixed, it was a bug x) . About the bush situation, that happens if you activated "NPCs can't see through bushes".
5 days has passed, and nearly a million views. Drewski breaking and hitting the algorithm just right once again.
Hey broski, so glad you enjoy this game so much and glad to hear you're doing well IRL. love your content and I appreciate you a lot :)
Drew can we just get a long running play through? Even if it’s one long episode a month your stalker content is always entertaining and engaging
