I will play this someday Edit 4 of June 2024 (after almost 8 years): It's more like an advice, by the time I wrote this comment I used to play guitar everyday, passionately, the desire to learn, then I got pretty busy in college so I thought maybe when I'm in a job I will do better, job came and I bought a lot of things I love in life, including my dream car (Dodge Challenger) but the way life goes it seems impossible for me to get passionate about guitar again without being free, aside going out with friends and family, gym, work, traveling, and games.. I really can't keep up as I used to.. the thing is I used to tell myself if I didn't force myself I would lose the interest one day. Hopefully soon enough I will play guitar again and be able to learn the whole solo. Here is your answer everyone! Please be alright and keep jamming, never let the music stop! With love, Abdulaziz
I love Pink Floyd's comfortably numb but I'm a all out Led Zeppelin fan. When I was a kid, it was Jimmy Page that influenced me to pick up a guitar. Alot of great musicians out there but to me Jimmy is my favorite.
How do you even break a string? When I started playing, I sucked hard and had the oldest rustiest strings, and still I was never able to break one. I feel like I'm missing out.
It was 100% perfect on a technical level. For tone, it didn't have quite enough reverb and felt kind of light. I'm not saying his guitar skills are light, not at all. The tone just needs to be a little heavier.
You play the 20th fret on the top E string, and then pull off onto fret 17, before playing the 17th fret on the B string. This triplet phrase repeats 5 times, before you bend the 17th fret (on the E string) up a whole tone to the note D. Hope this helps.
If you said it, I won't argue. I learned this song from you, but am still struggling with a few picking issues on some of the scaling. I wish I could pick as good as you guys.
I really like the extra (and well placed) notes in the solo. Just goes to show that a real musician can modify a seemingly perfect solo, and make it sound even better.
That one guy who played to the perfect track of Stairway to heaven. All the guys on youtube that I've seen did play this solo pretty good but none of them played it with the drums as you did at 0:15. That's what makes this solo a bit complicated :D Kudos mate
Sean Boothe Well 7 months later and I still haven't mastered this exactly but I must admit your version is the best version on RUclips like the original in my opinion. If you're wondering why I'm watching this again it's because I have to perform it next Thursday. Thanks Sean you're the man!!!!
By far the best solo cover on RUclips. It's amazing how many others just can't figure out the timing and tend to play it too quickly. This was spot on though, loved it
Nicely done! Thanks for showing us how to play this solo. I was struggling trying to play it by ear, until I saw this video. It's really funny how that works, I'm spot on now thanks to you.
Ive been playing this solo for about 13 years and I missed many of the subtle things about this solo that you nail in this video. Your tone, vibrato and phrasing is the most spot on that I have ever seen for this solo. Sounds sick!
Agreed. Playing the right notes is about 20% of the battle. The subtleties you pointed our are what makes the solo great. I also have been playing this solo for many years and still can't come close to this.
I've been playing it for like 15 minutes, gradually increasing the speed so I can work up to the right tempo. It's not easy, but I can already it at like 75% speed, so the only real answer is practise lmao
It's also a good way to find your placement on the neck, keep running and moving and you won't forget and your muscles memory will help to jump to the next chord and you'll fine it helps a bit.
When you are pressing a note with just the index finger you don't have much control or power over the vibrato losing the feel while releasing. So it's basically done to release the vibrato and not killing the tone by sliding down the string, it's a very subtle thing and you will only get to know once your are into 4-5 years of playing.
I am 62. I have been playing since 1974. I'm not saying I'm great or anything (because I'm not - I'm not ready to give up my day job), but your version was a lot better than my version. One of these days.... Thanks for sharing.

Jeremy Fuller Shut up pseudo elitist.
Every guitar player should develop his own style tone and version.
Yahweh No way chill bruh it's true. He's still amazing and could play it that way if he wanted to, but the way it is on record is heavier.
Nailing Page's tone is impossible. He changes tone via tone knobs a LOT.
That bend at 0:39 is magnificent...
You play the 20th fret on the top E string, and then pull off onto fret 17, before playing the 17th fret on the B string. This triplet phrase repeats 5 times, before you bend the 17th fret (on the E string) up a whole tone to the note D. Hope this helps.
Wait you mean the 20th fret up a whole to tone to the D note right
Charles Chen I believe you are correct.
You should make tabs it would be very helpful
I believe Jimmy doesnt play the same solo all the time, so youre good. Play with your heart - not someone elses ... 😎
who the hell dislike this? probably jealous guitar players...this is real man, keep on doing your thing

You have to very fast and precise. Make sure to pull off the 15th fret bend to the 13th fret. Very quickly, hit the 14th fret on the G string.

i playd that solo in a guitar store and i was banned from that store ;-;
What is the hand whip he does at 0:15 for? I've seen a lot of guitarists do it, and have no idea why
Just watched this back and I have no idea why either! Guess it just happens when you're excited?
It makes you look slick and....thats about it... I started doing that too when my hand is familiar enough with the fret board haha
It's vibrato, so the notes sort of vibrate
It's something guitarists do to stop notes from ringing out, but to keep momentum (that's what I do).
When you are pressing a note with just the index finger you don't have much control or power over the vibrato losing the feel while releasing. So it's basically done to release the vibrato and not killing the tone by sliding down the string, it's a very subtle thing and you will only get to know once your are into 4-5 years of playing.
