I have the version where you can use the app and it's awesome. I start my vehicle when I land at the airport and it's nice and warm when I get to it, I start it when I get up before I head to the gym and the windshield is defrosted... Wow thanks Jon, I've been looking at this kit since December when I purchased my 2019 4Runner TRD Premium. You make the installs look easy. This will be my Fall purchase. Love the videos.
It was beyond easy! Hardest part is just taking off the stock connectors. Some of them are really in there. It so far has been definitely worth it. Especially with Florida summer coming
Installed it this morning. The hardest part was figuring out where to route the wires so that the steering column cover would go back on. I had an OBD device called an “automatic” automatic.com . It was not compatible either. When I plugged the Automatic back it and tried the auto start it would crank but never start 🤷♂️
Thanks Jon, the instruction pictures they sent weren’t the best but this video definitely helped me with the install. It took maybe 20mins with your video

Toyota have 2 style of ignitions, that’s key start and push to start. Take over is possible with key start but not push to start (engine will shut off when door open). Its not base on the remote starter brand, basically if you have push to start than engine will shut off when any door open.
Have you ever tried to have the OBD2 transmitter in with the starter? Thinking about purchasing this starter, but use my OBD2 BT transmitter all the time...
Very good video. Have a question, pressing the lock button three times, does this attempt to lock your vehicle 3 times? Nervous this would wear out your door locks over time.
I purchased the unit based off of this review for my 2014 Avalon hybrid limited. It does not allow for take over. And when I open the door in the engine turns off the parking lights flash there’s a lot of clicking and the interior clock under the dash is blinking rapidly and that is not normal
After installing a G-key kit of this brand like yours for my 2018 4Runner, my low beam headlights would not turn on after a remote start, except when it is dark enough outside, then they would turn on (while on “auto”). When I turn the lever switch all the way to “on” mode during day light after a remote start, low beams do not seem to turn on. So, basically my low beams (along with fog lights) wouldn’t turn on except my DRLs and parking lights during daylight, IF I have the lever switch either on “auto” or “parking light” mode. Is this part of the kit? Does it always have to be on “auto” now, and that I can no longer turn on my low beams during the day? I was wondering if you or anyone else ran into this issue as well. Mind you, this issue also happens even when I do a normal startup (no remote start). Looking forward to your input. Alex
Hey Alex, That seems super weird...Something may be wrong with your fuses or something. My lights are on on mine no maybe the toggle or setting they will work. Very weird issue.
That BT obii, i have one and would like to keep it for future issues. Does it just not work anymore or cant use it while the units pluged in. No biggie to pull the aftermarket and plug the BT obii in the oem. Just wondering.
Did you ever get the longer range remotes installed? Mine won’t work... I do the key sequence but the remotes won’t work for me. The install couldn’t be easier but for some reason these won’t work.
I installed mine last night in the wife's 4runner. two questions...first the reassembly under the steering wheel. I couldn't for the like of me get the cover back on without some serious pushing. was afraid id break something. wasn't really much room at all for all the cubes and wires. Also, for the black box, anyone use double sided Velcro so it doesn't make any noise up there? Otherwise, easy install and thanks for the vid!
You’re gonna love it! But be honest did you get it to allow your ac to cool down your truck or so you don’t have to wait for your new head unit to boot up?!
BAHAHAH not gonna lie....the head unit lol. No but that is one thing I noticed is that the head unit is FINALLY ready the moment I get in it, so that's a perk.
Why do 4runners idle high right from the start? I though something was wrong with mine until another member said its normal. Nice remote start and video 👍
most engines do that... they're warming up. also, yes the t4r has a clutch fan, not electric. When warm the clutch fan is quieter than electric fans that kick on and off during run time.
Thanks for your video and coupon. I installed it into my Jeep Grand Cherokee and it works fine. I'm just wondering is it safe not installing the hood switch? Because all the cars that are equipped with factory remote start can't remote start when hood is open.
Great vid! Remote start is something I really miss from my previous vehicle. Although I am very reluctant to mod a new vehicle (TRD OR), this system appears very well thought out and executed. Have you had any issues? This looks like a remote start on steroids. 2000 foot range!! Yowza.
The video was very helpful, no doubt I ended up taking the panel completely down on my 21 Tacoma. What Im trying to figure out Can you turn it off after it starts up, and can you open the door with the fob and not the key? I had to cut and tap into the TPS wire. Thanks Jon
@@TRDJon - Yeah I was going thru their products and they don't have nothing for a push start tacomas only 4runners, I've been waiting for a remote start that won't shut down the vehicle when opening the door. Hopefully they'll have one soon.
Just installed mine, can’t get past the first step in programming. Just have one blinking red light on the top right of the module. Doesn’t change after turning the truck on. Tried calling accessorides, but it’s Sunday here in Germany, and they’re probably sleeping and closed on Sundays. Sitting here trying to google troubleshooting steps, can’t find any.
Hi...I have some question regarding this remote start setup...do this have 10 or 15 mins run time and how is your 4runner react on the module and wiring so far?
I’m not sure about the time cap. I’m sure they can answer that if you email them. I didn’t read anything on it. And it’s actions as normal still. Zero issues
How well does the OEM key fob work vs the long range fob? If you were eating at a restaurant and wanted to start your car parked a block or two away, could the OEM key fob do it? Need the long range? Need a direct line of sight to vehicle to work?
So am I to understand that the hood switch does not need to be added? My '13 SR5 doesn't have a factory switch and I'm not interested in the hassle of adding a switch if I don't have to. Great video!
Hi Jon, tnx for the discount code. My remote starter kit is on it's way this coming Friday...I just wanna ask is this will not void warranty and how is your remote kit doing...any issue at all...need your opinion brother...tnx
The first month is free . and after that I think its 40 for the year. Basically remote start the vehicle from wherever you are. Extra extra long range.
The cable that you say you have to cut there for the hood, what happens if you don't cut it? does it start with the hood closed? I understood that it is only to turn on if the hood is open
Has anyone tried this with a alarm system? I'm looking to get a 2020 4runner and I have a great alarm guy I'm going to go to. Just wondering if there's any issues with a separate alarm system.
Possibly. Battery died out due to normal usage. 4 years. But when testing voltage on battery/alternator it’s only reading 13.65. A few people say my alternator is low or bad. Going to remove the remote start and take to a dealer as it may not qualify for replacement of alternator if it is still attached to car as they may say it’s the cause of it.
Update. Alternator was no good. I’m not sure what really caused it to crap out as I only had the remote start and hid lights installed on my car. Thankfully I had extended warranty to cover. In Hawaii they charged $900+ to repair and labor. Crazy as I found out it isn’t as expensive if I do it myself.
So Jon have you seen the N2 design remote start? They are big with the Tacoma people. I was just curious if you had heard any thing, good or bad about it. Thx for your time and service
Is it like OEM systems where you cannot steal the car while its running without the key fob or turn the car off if try to move out of park without key FOB?

So, basically my low beams (along with fog lights) wouldn’t turn on except my DRLs and parking lights during daylight, IF I have the lever switch either on “auto” or “parking light” mode.
Is this part of the kit? Does it always have to be on “auto” now, and that I can no longer turn on my low beams during the day? I was wondering if you or anyone else ran into this issue as well.

Great vid! Remote start is something I really miss from my previous vehicle. Although I am very reluctant to mod a new vehicle (TRD OR), this system appears very well thought out and executed. Have you had any issues? This looks like a remote start on steroids. 2000 foot range!! Yowza.
I havent yet. Only issues was when I had the bluetooth OBD2 reader in but after i took that out, I had zero problems
The video was very helpful, no doubt
I ended up taking the panel completely down on my 21 Tacoma. What Im trying to figure out
Can you turn it off after it starts up, and can you open the door with the fob and not the key?
I had to cut and tap into the TPS wire.
Thanks Jon
Is this a good option if I wanted to leave the dogs in the truck in hot weather with the AC going for a short time. The doors stay locked correct?
Yep doors stay looked until you unlock it
@@TRDJon Put it in today. Thanks for the video. Really helped given vague directions. Never underestimate prying those little clips/connectors apart!
Hope you continue to enjoy it!!
I just ordered mine and waiting for it in the mail. What are the other ports on the brain/box for?
One is for the exended range. Not sure honestly what the others are used for.
Awsome would you know have they got one for a 2015 Subaru wrx
Not sure off the top of my head. Their site is in the description
Great video.
Does this work with an aftermarket brake controller previously installed?
No idea. I'd ask the company that question
Will it work the same for a push button Tacoma, where it won't shut down when opening the door?
I feel Like it should. I'd ask them before dropping the money though. Their customer service has been great. Im sure they will reply fast with email.
@@TRDJon - Yeah I was going
thru their products and they don't have nothing for a push start tacomas only 4runners, I've been waiting for a remote start that won't shut down the vehicle when opening the door. Hopefully they'll have one soon.
Another just commented with the push botton vehicles they may still shut off
Just installed mine, can’t get past the first step in programming. Just have one blinking red light on the top right of the module. Doesn’t change after turning the truck on. Tried calling accessorides, but it’s Sunday here in Germany, and they’re probably sleeping and closed on Sundays. Sitting here trying to google troubleshooting steps, can’t find any.
Thanks for the good video. Bought one
Of course!!
Do you have any video to install with the smartkey push start System?
I do not
The 4th gen 4Runner is not on that list that sucks I only seen the 18 model on there
Nice work man. I have one also and love it. Subbed
Thanks for the subbbb!!!!
i have a regular 2018 trd off road that does not have remote start, will this still work on my veh?
Yes it will
Hi...I have some question regarding this remote start setup...do this have 10 or 15 mins run time and how is your 4runner react on the module and wiring so far?
I’m not sure about the time cap. I’m sure they can answer that if you email them. I didn’t read anything on it. And it’s actions as normal still. Zero issues
@@TRDJon...tnx a lot Jon...hope to see more videos and some discount code if ever lol...more power and keep safe
Always ask for the discounts. SOme companies definetly give it more then others.
Hi Jon, do we need to reset the remote starter after changing the battery?
What do you mean?
Hi, I would like to know if there’s anything like that for a 2004 Lexus RX330.
I am not sure. Have you tried the link to go to their site ?
How well does the OEM key fob work vs the long range fob? If you were eating at a restaurant and wanted to start your car parked a block or two away, could the OEM key fob do it? Need the long range? Need a direct line of sight to vehicle to work?
OEM works as normal OEM range
So am I to understand that the hood switch does not need to be added? My '13 SR5 doesn't have a factory switch and I'm not interested in the hassle of adding a switch if I don't have to. Great video!
No it does not need too at all
Hi Jon, tnx for the discount code. My remote starter kit is on it's way this coming Friday...I just wanna ask is this will not void warranty and how is your remote kit doing...any issue at all...need your opinion brother...tnx
It will not. It’s plug and play so if they say it did they have to prove it was the culprit
@@TRDJon tnx...hope to see more videos and upgrades on your 4runner....any plan lifting your rig?
Eventually when these tires go for sure
So, cell phone app has a monthly charge? What all does it offer?
The first month is free . and after that I think its 40 for the year. Basically remote start the vehicle from wherever you are. Extra extra long range.
@@TRDJon well, not bad on the price. Does the long range extender have to be installed for the cell phone app to work?
I feel like they are different. The cell phone option may come with it's own antennea for a network of its own. I may be mistaken though
do we have to send the module back like they say on their page?
Send back for what?
The cable that you say you have to cut there for the hood, what happens if you don't cut it? does it start with the hood closed? I understood that it is only to turn on if the hood is open
It's for if the hood is open
Nice work 👍🏻
Thank you!
Has anyone tried this with a alarm system? I'm looking to get a 2020 4runner and I have a great alarm guy I'm going to go to. Just wondering if there's any issues with a separate alarm system.
Not even sure yet if the 2020 is plug and play with this yet due to the TSS system they are putting in it. Should be though
Hi...do you have discount code for this item?
TRDJON they just gave me it!! $15 off
Aloha jon, just wondering if you heard of anyone having problems with there alternator after using this for awhile?
I haven’t yet. Have you ?
I just don't see how because it's to start it, not what keeps it running,. Let us know!
I’m glad it’s all good! That’s crazy to charge that much!
Hey jon, do you have a link for the long range remote start for 2020? Thanks and appreciated.
I don't. Not sure if they changed it up for 2020
So Jon have you seen the N2 design remote start? They are big with the Tacoma people. I was just curious if you had heard any thing, good or bad about it. Thx for your time and service
I actually haven’t
good stuff jon
Thanks man!! I appreciate it! Hope all is well!
hey Jon is it ok after installing this remote start. it will not affect my after market security alarm?
No idea about after market alarm
Is it like OEM systems where you cannot steal the car while its running without the key fob or turn the car off if try to move out of park without key FOB?
Correct
Heyy Jon i have 2017 4 runner limited and i bought the remote starter after i watched your video, but i installed it but did not work. Lights flashed like it going to but nothing happen, any idea with it don't work please and thanks
Not sure about the troube shooting. Definitely try to reach out to them if you can
