If you are going to cover the hostage crisis you should have started with 1953 coup wich American embassy was used to overthrow the democratically elected government of iran for oil and the hostage crisis was to stop the same thing happening again.
Other than that great video and you look like a great person.

Media today is the face of war. The war powers will see to it that this video don't get enough views to ruin their plans. You might be able to play a small part in delaying, or preventing a war if you can get enough high subscriber count youtubers to share or link this video and similar content. It might not be enough, but nobody wins in a war. It seems that the US owes the Iranians an apology that they will accept... And both sides owe each other a lot more patience, and understanding. And that that will be the only win-win. The world has changed so much, it's heart breaking that one country can be so arrogant and incredible that another can be so principled. Thank you for making this video. People have a right to self determination and to figure out their own stuff. If you want to live in the "West", move to a "Western" country.

As an Iranian, sometimes I forget what an amazing and beautiful country Iran is . Thank you for your honesty. It was so refreshing seeing the joy in your eyes. I hope many people get to watch this and know Iranians are the most welcoming, hospitable people. We are not terrorist and we hate war and we are under so much pressure because of sanctions. It's a good thing for tourists though, It's ridiculously cheap to travel here . Let's hope for better days, days we can share love and peace everywhere in the world.

If you want a second opinion I have been there this year. It's a place where I've never imagined I will go to and, to tell the truth, I didn't know what to expect. I was a bit afraid for all the things said on the news but confident, at the same time, after hearing about other travelers experiences. When I finally got there, I found a truly safe place, full of art, traditions, tasty food, beautiful cities, amazing deserts, stunning oasis, incredible islands and the best part was the kindness and hospitality of the people, at a level that I've never experienced before. I couldn't understand all the wrong things said about this country.
If any of you ever has the chance to go, please don't hesitate. I was a Latin girl traveling there alone and I am happy and thankful to have taken the decision to go, because of the amazing people I met and also because no country has surprised me in a positive way as much as Iran did. =)
Thank you Jacob for doing such a great video. Now I want to meet Hasan. I actually cried watching it and remembering how nice Iran was and how wrong we see it from outside. You are the best!

I've always considered myself very bad in social media but, after Iran, I realized I was visiting unusual and missundersrood places, so I thought maybe could help people change their minds by sharing. Only then, I decided to open an Instagram (for the first time) and a website to share information about places that are not the most usual. I am starting and you have been one of my biggest inspirations. THANK YOU SO MUCH JACOB! From my heart. I am not the best at it but I hope to do a little bit helping to eliminate preconceptions this way. 🙂

as an iranian i feel like i need to clear some things out
    1. you were treated with hospitality because its tradition to treat guests as you would your own family
    2. most ppl are muslims in name and dont practice it with the vigor you'd expect
    3. 70% of the population is under 30 years old, born after the revolution and mostly have liberal tendencies and often look for a way around the theocratic sharia laws
    4.everyone is welcome here
dont let your prejudice get the better of you, i myself work as a part time connseuir at IranMall
i meet tourists all day long telling me how much they love it here
and lastly, iran is safe, only unsafe news was an isis attack in 2017 ( first in a decade )
we have very low crime rates and no guns ( actually safer than u.s and u.k in the global safety index )

I've been there twice and after my first trip, I even started learning Persian (which I do speak a little by now). This is a difficult question, that's why I have to tell you some points about the position and structure of Iran. Forgive me if it is long.
Iran is a rich country with endless resources and strong industrial, road, rail and urban infrastructures. Iran has the first place in total oil and gas reserves in the world and almost all natural resources exist in Iran, Iran's industry is also a dynamic and large industry that can meet 90% of the country's needs even independently of the world. In terms of agriculture, Iran has relatively good conditions and is self-sufficient in the production of important food products such as wheat. One of the most important points is the geopolitical position of Iran, and it is somehow located in the center of the world, so that it has been connecting the East and the West for thousands of years, as well as connecting northern countries such as Russia to warm waters and southern countries such as India. Therefore, it can also be the four ways of the world. Despite the sanctions that have lowered the value of Iran's national currency and other problems that exist. Culturally and historically, it is one of the few countries that has been able to survive from the beginning of the history of urbanization until today and has a very strong culture and history, and because of the power of the Iranian Empire in different historical periods, Iranian people are proud of their nationality and country. They are very fanatical. Therefore, it is very rich in terms of historical, artistic and cultural tourism places. The nature of Iran also has a mountainous nature around and a plain in the center, which has a four-season nature due to its size and location, so if you go to the north, there are vast and green forests, and if you are in the center, there are deserts that For hundreds of kilometers, you can see nothing but dirt, as well as big snowy mountains, most of the cities of Iran are built on the slopes of the mountains, and if you are in the desert, you may experience the greatest possible heat, while in front of you, you see mountains a few kilometers away. which is covered with snow . also Iranian people are very kind and altruistic and are very social and helpful to each other.
On the other hand, one of its negative points is that Iran has been embargoed by the world, especially America, for forty years, and like any other revolution, Iran has problems in its structure after the revolution. Of course, the reason for sanctions is not Iran's bellicosity, and interestingly, even though Iran has seen many wars in its history, in the past thousands of years, Iran has not started a single war, and always only from its own country against countries that are interested in Iran's position and resources. They were greedy and defended. As I said, due to their proud history, Iranians cannot allow themselves to be dominated by a powerful country, and because in the past three hundred years, due to the weakness of the rulers of that period of Iran and the global influence of Western countries, it has had complete domination over this country, and two-thirds It has separated the country from it and taken its resources for itself, it cannot see the independence of Iran and considers this issue against its global influence, and for this reason it shows Iran as a war-torn and devastated country, while Iran, despite the fact that It is in the center of the Middle East, and most of the countries are at war around it. It is really one of the safest countries in the world, and even a ten-year-old girl will not be in any danger if she travels alone from the north to the south of Iran. In general, according to United Nations statistics, the level of quality of life in Iran has scored 80 out of 100 and has a very high economic growth, which has been among the top three countries with the highest economic growth in terms of economic growth for many years. Most of Iran's population is educated at the university level, especially women, who make up more than sixty percent of Iran's students. Since the sanctions that Trump imposed on Iran for no reason, the value of the national currency has greatly decreased and the cost of living has increased slightly, but still the amount of taxes paid in Iran is not even one percent of people's income.
Also, energy resources are almost free and less than five percent of people's income is spent on energy costs such as electricity and thermal energy, such as gasoline, which I think is less than five cents per liter in terms of dollars. In terms of access to resources, 98% of Iran has domestic gas piping, and it ranks first. Due to this scientific level, Iran is very advanced in scientific topics and the advancement of science, and it is one of the countries in the world with the largest number of patents. You can see examples of Iran's self-sufficiency in nuclear, nanotechnology, medicine, military industries, etc. In addition, Iran is really excellent and cheap in the medical sector and the level of people's access to doctors and the scientific level of specialist doctors and equipment, so that people from all neighboring countries come to Iran to treat diseases. In terms of public transportation, subway, taxi, bus, train and plane are much cheaper than the world average. Banking is also very modern and ninety percent of money transactions are done digitally and paper money is very little. In the end, I must say that like all countries, Iran also has many problems, especially in the last few years when the costs, especially luxury and imported goods, have gone up a bit, and since the people of Iran are used to cheap and luxurious life, they are part of the unhappy society. Also, individual and social freedoms should be reformed and improved, but not in the way that is shown in the western media, and for example, in the discussion of hijab in Iran, despite the hijab law, most girls do not care about it and go without a scarf or dress. come and liberal and secular thoughts are prevalent among Iranians, especially the young generation. If you walk in the streets, most of the girls don't wear hijab, and there are night parties, alcohol, etc. easily everywhere. Girls and boys wear clothes based on the most up-to-date world fashions and easily become friends and live with each other. Contrary to the media's impression of Iran, everyone who comes to Iran is surprised by the level of prosperity and lifestyle of the people in a modern society and beautiful cities. You might think that I am bluffing and exaggerating, but if you come to Iran, or do a thorough search on the Internet, avoid negative news, or ask someone who has been to Iran, you will definitely understand the same points.

It's a little weird watching it in old-school style with the pocket camera, but it's a cool throwback to the days of your trips to Oman, Indonesia, and of course the two Koreas. I'm really fascinated by what goes on in Iran, especially since I am American, and I know that U.S.-Iranian relations aren't the strongest at this point. But nonetheless, I always appreciate it when you take the time to carefully document and explain why things are the way they are in certain places around the world. You're very knowledgable and respectful and it's always good to see you reach out, explore different horizons, and try to connect with one another in order to make the world a much more beautiful place.

The people of Iran are among the best ambassadors for their country on the planet. Very friendly and helpful to foreigners. The country has many beautiful areas too. It's always governments that get in the way.

When i was a child i lived in the US for 3 yesr (Im Israeli) and my mothers freinds were also Iranian, this shows it doesnt matter who you are or where you are as long you are a decent human being the most culturaly opposing sides can get along

In my opinion I think Iran is wonderful, the history behind Iran is so magical and it makes me happy when people respect the world. Every country is so unique in there own ways, and so many get excluded sadly, like Iran. Iran is not a VERY popular country but I hope everywhere will be mentioned in schools museums etc. Thank you so much! 😊
